A couple of good friends take an easy walk through the streets. This is what many young people in China enjoy doing when they visit a new city. In China, Citywalk is spreading (传播) from big cities like Beijing and Shanghai to smaller cities. Some organizers invite folk culture researchers and lovers to act as tour guides. Xiao Yiyi is a young girl in Changsha. She has been exploring new possibilities in Citywalk. She has launched six Citywalk plans in different cities on the Internet. She wants to provide experiences for visitors to “walk in open-air museums”.
Her Changsha plan covers places like historical buildings from the 19th century, old streets and even a stop-off to taste the local spicy crayfish (小龙虾) specialty. Citywalk offers a way to young people to visit a city. It also provides them with a new social scene, where people who share the same interests and ideas can easily make friends. Xiao Yiyi says her group often has about 10 people and her events last around half a day.

Museums are active centres of learning. In a science museum, people can learn about nature and technology as well as physics and chemistry. Visiting museums is a good choice to spend a holiday for people of all ages. But there’re some rules when visiting museums. Take an art museum, for example.
Keep quiet. You can talk, but keep the voice down and be polite to those around you. You should turn off your phone or put it on silent. Sounds from your phone may disturb(打扰) others. If a call must be made, you should go outside to make it.

However, please be careful with the sign “no photography” which means taking photos is not allowed for that work or exhibition. If you take photos without permission, you will be in trouble. Maybe you will be punished.
Do not touch works of art! Your touch may not seem like much, but even the slightest(最轻的)touch can damage the surface of a painting dinosaur stone, and even rust metal. Keep a safe distance between you and each work of art. This helps to avoid accidental touching.
Never bring food or drink into the museum. It’s no good eating or drinking there. The art in the museum will provide plenty of food for thought as well as a dinner for the eyes!

Many teens sometimes stay at home alone. It can be a fun chance to be independent, but safety and self-care always come first. Here are easy rules to follow for a safe and happy time alone.
First, keep your home safe. Always lock the front door and windows after your parents leave. If someone knocks, never open the door without asking who it is. You can talk through the door or use a doorbell camera to see them. If the person says they’re from a company (like a repairman), call your parents to check first. Don’t tell strangers you’re home alone—this is important to keep you away from danger.
Second, take care of your basic needs. Eat healthy meals instead of only snacks. For example, you can make simple food like sandwiches or noodles if your parents leave ingredients. Drink enough water and don’t stay up too late watching TV or playing games. Also, finish your homework before doing fun things—this way, you won’t worry about it later.
Last, know what to do in an emergency. Keep your parents’ phone numbers and the emergency number (like 110 in China) in your phone or on the fridge. If you feel sick or see something strange, call your parents right away. Don’t try to fix dangerous problems (like a gas leak) by yourself—wait for adults to help.

Do you know how to speak? I don’t mean how to pronounce (发音) a word or a sentence. I mean how to make people listen to you. Here’s how to speak well.

Follow “HYPL” rules. Be honest: If a book is boring, say “It’s not for me” instead of lying. Be yourself: Talk in your own way, not like others. Keep promises: If you promise to help, do it. This makes people trust you. Show love: When a friend feels bad, say “I care about you.”
How you speak matters too. Use a deeper voice to sound confident. Make your voice warm, like a friendly talk. Change your speed—talk fast when happy, slow down to stress (强调) points. Sometimes, silence can make your words stronger.

The Louvre is one of the largest museums in the world, with a total area of over 60 acres, including 782,910 square feet of exhibition rooms. Philip Augustus built the Louvre as a fortress (堡垒) just outside the city walls in the 12th century to protect Paris from being attacked.
The Louvre didn’t become a palace until the 16th century under Francis I, who broke the tower and added two new wings. Later that century, Catherine de Medici had her own palace built in the Tuileries, which Henry IV joined to the Louvre to form a monumental (作为纪念的) double palace.
The Louvre began its first step toward becoming a museum in the 18th century, when the abandoned (废弃的) palace developed as an artists’ living place and academy with public exhibitions of the important collections. After the French Revolution, it was officially seen as a museum in 1793.
The Louvre Museum is open from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm from Thursday through Sunday, and until 9:45 pm on Wednesdays and Fridays. The main entrance at the pyramid is open from 9:00 am until closing. The Porte des Lions is open from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm except on Tuesdays and Fridays. And visitors with pre-purchased (提前购买的) tickets or museum passes can enter at the Passage Richelieu, from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. Please note that the museum is closed on Tuesdays.

Ask before taking photos. Some museums welcome visitors to photograph or videotape works of art.
Running and pushing are not allowed in the museum. Proper museum behavior is necessary to avoid accidentally hitting or damaging works of art.
Remember: Act according to the rules. If you obey them, you will surely enjoy yourself in the museum.

Staying alone at home can teach you responsibility. Follow these rules, and you’ll have a safe and great experience.

Do you know how to speak? I don’t mean how to pronounce (发音) a word or a sentence. I mean how to make people listen to you. Here’s how to speak well.
Avoid bad speaking habits. Don’t always be sad—saying “This is terrible” all the time makes others sad. Stop complaining about small things like the weather. It spreads unhappiness. Don’t put so much stress on others when things go wrong. Take responsibility (责任) instead. Never make things sound bigger than they are, like saying “I waited 60 minutes” when it was just 10. People won’t believe you. And don’t think your ideas are always right-don’t act like your ideas are facts. It makes others feel ignored (被忽略).
1.Which of the following is a not bad speaking habit?
A.Saying “You aren’t so good” to a friend when he or she is happy.
B.Complaining about the grades after an important exam.
C.Keeping a promise to help others when they need.
D.Saying “I’m better than you” to a friend when he or she loses a game.
2.What does the underlined (划线的) word “it” refer to (指的是) in paragraph 3?
A.HYPL. B.The boring book. C.Honesty. D.Your promise.
3.What’s the best title (标题) for this text?
A.How to pronounce a word? B.How to say English?
