To make sure that you’re prepared for the upcoming July, here’s the first week’s forecast for the entire country. If you live in the northeastern part, you’ve probably been using the air conditioning to fight heatwaves in the past week. Fortunately, the discomfort of extreme heat will ease. Do you remember reading an article called Kouji in middle school? In it, a kouji performer, specializing in vocal mimicry, creates lifelike performances of various sounds using just his mouth, with the stage having only a table, a block of wood on it, a chair and a fan.
Originating from ancient China, the art of kouji involves skillfully using movements of the lips, teeth, throat, and tongue to produce sounds that mimic birds, animals, and various other noises in the world. It is often combined with story-telling during performances. In 2011, kouji was recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage.
According to the IHChina website, traditional kouji is becoming endangered due to the rapid development of electronic audio. However, Cao Quyang, a 28-year-old inheritor, has found a solution by combining kouji with beatboxing, achieving a perfect combination of traditional and modern performance art.
Cao started learning kouji in 2016 when she wanted to bring something original to her B -box performance. "As a former percussionis (打击乐器演奏者), I'm sensitive to rhythm, so I integrated the kouji techniques I learned into beatboxing and created my own unique style in my area of expertise." she added. For example, when mimicking environmental sounds like wind, Cao can use her mouth to weave beatboxing into it, making the sound of the wind stronger and more rhythmic." The addition of beatboxing brings more musical expression to kouji performances, making the stories more vivid and appealing to today's young audiences." said Cao.
In addition to kouji and beatboxing, Cao can also play the Chinese drums, drum set, and piano, as well as DJ. "Innovation is not difficult for me. To me, innovation is simply expressing something that people don't understand in a way they do," said Cao, "As long as it combines tradition and modernity and allows the public to appreciate the beauty of tradition through innovation, I'm willing to do it."
24. What does the article tell us about kouji ?
A. It involves five parts of the human mouth.
B. It originated in the Western Han dynasty.
C. It usually mixes sound mimicry with storytelling.
D. It received national heritage status in 2001.
25. How has Cao Quyang contributed to the preservation of kouji?
A. By developing a new form of art.
B. By employing it to compose pop songs.
C. By including digital effects in her performances.
D. By combining it with percussion instruments.
26. What aspect of kouji does Cao enhance with beatboxing ?
A. Visual appeal. B. Emotional depth.
C. Mimicry accuracy. D. Rhythmic complexity.
27. What does Cao think of innovation ?
A. It presents challenges and risks of failure. B. It is a means of beautifying the old.
C. It is a way to bridge understanding. D. It serves as a form of self-expression.

In between the speedboats and wooden fishing boats in a Hong Kong harbor, a different kind of boat sails. It looks ordinary, but as the three-meter-long new unmanned boat moves skillfully through the water, it consumes waste floating on the surface. Wasted plastic water bottles and juice boxes travel through a gap in the front of the boat and move up a belt.
Around 33 billion pounds of plastic trash enter the oceans every year, according to Oceana, an ocean conservation group. The sight of this ever-growing marine litter is truly concerning. “We have garbage trucks for the land. Why don’t we have something to clean the water?” said Sidhant Gupta, the co-founder of the marine-tech startup Clearbot, which developed the boat.
Clearbot is trying to change that with its autonomous boats. The boats can provide data by algorithms and analyze what items are being collected so that they can help people stop the flow of waste into waterways. And the boats don’t stop at collecting waste. There are many other “dull, dirty or dangerous” jobs that Clearbot’s boats are capable of. Equipped with sensors and tools, they can map the bottom of waterways, test water quality and collect samples.
Due to the massive need for marine clean-up, Clearbot is now focused on scaling up. Gupta hopes to have 20 boats put into use by next year, and 50 in operation within two years. “You should be able to see these in the harbors and think it’s so normal,” said Gupta. “We want it to be used widely.”
Some worry that too many boats will also cause pollution. But Gupta doesn’t think so. This boat has an impressive energy system. It has solar panels on top and an 8-hour battery, which can store the energy and enable it to operate without relying on traditional energy sources. “The fleet has the potential to protect the marine ecology and turn to pollution-free marine operations across a range of uses by replacing fossil fuel-powered boats,” said Gupta.
28. What drives Sidhant Gupta to develop this new boat?
A. Lack of transport boats. B. Needs of local fishermen.
C. Increase in marine litter. D. Waste of water resources.
29. What can we know about the performance of the boat?
A. It is multi-functional.
B. It works better underwater.
C. It requires manual operation.
D. It can avoid risky situations.
30. What does the underlined phrase “scaling up” in paragraph 4 mean?
A. Selling abroad. B. Functioning well.
C. Building harbors. D. Adding production.
31. What is the boat expected to do in marine operations?
A. To achieve zero carbon emissions.
B. To help conduct research on marine ecology.
C. To develop deep-sea fossil fuels.
D. To improve efficiency of marine operations.
C 29. A 30. D 31. A

根据第二段中“Around 33 billion pounds of plastic trash enter the oceans every year, according to Oceana, an ocean conservation group. The sight of this ever-growing marine litter is truly concerning. ‘We have garbage trucks for the land. Why don’t we have something to clean the water?’ said Sidhant Gupta, the co-founder of the marine-tech startup Clearbot, which developed the boat.(据海洋保护组织Oceana称,每年约有330亿磅的塑料垃圾进入海洋。这种日益增多的海洋垃圾的景象确实令人担忧。开发这艘船的海洋科技初创公司Clearbot的联合创始人Sidhant Gupta说:‘我们陆地上有垃圾车。为什么我们没有清理水面的东西呢?’)”可知,海洋垃圾的增多促使Sidhant Gupta开发这种新船。故选C项。
【29题详解】
推理判断题。根据第三段中“The boats can provide data by algorithms and analyze what items are being collected so that they can help people stop the flow of waste into waterways. And the boats don’t stop at collecting waste. There are many other ‘dull, dirty or dangerous’ jobs that Clearbot’s boats are capable of. Every Wednesday, retiree Zhang Zhili travels an hour by bus to an education center, drawn by the pulsing rhythms of the African drum she plays there in a classroom filled with fellow retirees whose hands move together, every beat lifting her spirits.
Many older Chinese are looking beyond traditional nursing homes, afraid of abandonment by their families and quality issues. That’s driving a boom in universities, home care services, and communities catering to older adults. Though some providers struggle to turn a profit, they persist because they see promise in the growing market.
China has a rapidly aging population. Last year, about 297 million people were aged 60 or above, over one-fifth of the population. By 2035, this number is forecast to go beyond 400 million, or over 30% of all Chinese.
That’s fueling growth in services and products aimed at older adults in what Beijing calls the silver economy, which is expected to grow from about 7 trillion yuan (about $982 billion) currently to approximately 30 trillion yuan (about $4.2 trillion) in 2035, raising its share in the economy from about 6% to roughly 10%, Hu Zuquan, a researcher at the State Information Center, a public institution linked to with China’s main planning agency, told state media. The government is expanding basic care services to all elderly people in need, moving beyond its traditional focus on those without family support.
Various companies are looking to grab a slice of this government-backed market. Property developers like Vanke Co. and Sino-Ocean Group and insurance companies such as Taikang Insurance Group have built high-end communities for older adults with amenities such as movie-screening and mahjong rooms and dining services.
Still, questions remain about the spending power of many older Chinese. China’s silver economy is still in its early stage, said Gary Ng, a senior economist at Natixis Corporate and Investment Banking. “There are prospects here, but it seems there’s still much that needs to be done,” he said.
32. What can be inferred about Zhang Zhili from the first paragraph?
A. She seeks joy and socializes with others.
B. She learns a new skill and prepares for future employment.
C. She struggles with loneliness and relies on her family for support.
D. She prioritizes exercise and improves her physical health.
33. What is the main reason for the rise of the silver economy?
A. China’s rapidly aging population creating market demand.
B. Technological advancements in elderly care products.
C. Government restrictions on traditional nursing homes.
D. A cultural shift toward valuing individualism over family care.
34. What did Gary Ng think about China’s silver economy?
A It has already reached maturity and requires no further investment.
B. It faces challenges with rural gaps and unstable profits.
C. It targets urban wealthy and ignores ordinary seniors.
D. It shows potential but significant efforts remain necessary.
35. Which of the following is the best title for the article?
A. The Challenges of Silver Economy in China
B. The Reason for Silver Economy in Chinese Society
C. The Impact of the Silver Economy in China
D. The Rise of the Silver Economy in China
A 33. A 34. D 35. D
根据第一段“Every Wednesday, retiree Zhang Zhili travels an hour by bus to an education center, drawn by the pulsing rhythms of the African drum she plays there in a classroom filled with fellow retirees whose hands move together, every beat lifting her spirits.(每周三,退休人员Zhang Zhili都会乘坐一个小时的公交车前往一个教育中心,她在那里的教室里,被非洲鼓的脉动节奏所吸引,教室里坐满了退休人员,他们的手一起舞动,每一个节拍都让她精神振奋)”可知,她寻求快乐,与他人交往。故选A。
根据第三段“China has a rapidly aging population. Last year, about 297 million people were aged 60 or above, over one-fifth of the population. By 2035, this number is forecast to go beyond 400 million, or over 30% of all Chinese.(中国的人口正在迅速老龄化。去年,约有2.97亿人年龄在60岁或以上,占人口的五分之一以上。到2035年,这一数字预计将超过4亿,占中国总人口的30%以上)”和第四段“That’s fueling growth in services and products aimed at older adults in what Beijing calls the silver economy(这推动了面向老年人的服务和产品的增长,也就是中国政府所说的“银发经济”)”可知,银发经济崛起的主要原因是中国迅速老龄化的人口创造了市场需求。故选A。
根据最后一段“China’s silver economy is still in its early stage, said Gary Ng, a senior economist at Natixis Corporate and Investment Banking. “There are prospects here, but it seems there’s still much that needs to be done,” he said.(法国东方汇理银行高级经济师Gary Ng表示:“中国的‘银发经济’仍处于起步阶段。他指出:‘(这一领域)前景广阔,但目前看来,仍有许多工作亟待推进。’”)”可知,Gary Ng认为中国的银发经济显示出潜力,但仍需作出重大努力。故选D。
【35题详解】
主旨大意题。通读全文,尤其是第四段“That’s fueling growth in services and products aimed at older adults in what Beijing calls the silver economy, which is expected to grow from about 7 trillion yuan (about $982 billion) currently to approximately 30 trillion yuan (about $4.2 trillion) in 2035, raising its share in the economy from about 6% to roughly 10%, Hu Zuquan, a researcher at the State Information Center, a public institution linked to with China’s main planning agency, told state media. ____36____ Before attending any social event, ask yourself: “Does this agree with my values?” or “Will this help me grow?” If you’re attending just out of obligation (义务), it’s likely an unworthy commitment. Psychologists suggest that 70% of social tiredness comes from activities we didn’t genuinely want to join.
Quality Over Quantity. Having hundreds of so-called friends doesn’t equal true connection. ____37____ A Cambridge University study shows that people with 3-5 deep friendships report higher life satisfaction than those with dozens of so- called ones. Invest time in relationships that inspire growth each other.
Master the Art of saying No. The fear of missing out often pushes us into unwanted gatherings. ____38____ Politely declining invitations with simple statements like “I have other priorities” is perfectly acceptable. Remember, every “yes” to others is a “no” to yourself.
Digital Detoxification (数字排毒). Social media creates fantasy of obligation. ____39____ Schedule specific time to check messages instead of responding immediately. Research indicates that limiting social media use to 30 minutes daily significantly reduces anxiety.
Embrace Staying alone. ____40____ Regular staying alone allows for self-reflection and recharging. Historical figures like Newton and Kefka produced their best work during periods of being alone. Start with short walks or coffee breaks alone to rediscover the joy of your own company.
A. Being alone doesn’t mean being lonely.
B. Practice setting boundaries without guilt.
C. Prioritize activities that bring personal fulfillment.
D. Evaluate the purpose of social engagement s beforehand.
E. Stop following accounts that cause negative comparisons.
F. Instead, focus on developing a few meaningful relationships.
G. Many online interactions are performative rather than genuine.
D 37. F 38. B 39. G 40. A
根据下文“Before attending any social event, ask yourself: ‘Does this agree with my values?’ or ‘Will this help me grow?’ If you’re attending just out of obligation (义务), it’s likely an unworthy commitment.(在参加任何社交活动之前,问问自己:‘这符合我的价值观吗?’或者‘这会帮助我成长吗?’如果你只是出于义务去参加,那很可能是一个不值得的承诺)”提到在参加社交活动前,应该问自己:“这符合我的价值观?”或“这能帮助我成长吗?”,并指出如果只是出于义务参加,可能是不值得的。这与选项D“提前评估社交活动的目的”完全契合。关键词匹配:Before attending any social event, ask yourself...对应Evaluate the purpose... beforehand。故选D。
根据本段主题句“Quality Over Quantity.(质量重于数量)”以及下文“A Cambridge University study shows that people with 3-5 deep friendships report higher life satisfaction than those with dozens of so- called ones.(剑桥大学的一项研究表明,拥有3-5个深厚友谊的人比拥有几十个所谓友谊的人生活满意度更高)”提到拥有3-5段深厚友谊的人比拥有大量浅交的人更幸福。 关键词匹配:Quality Over Quantity和3-5 deep friendships对应few meaningful relationships。故选F。
根据本段主题句“Master the Art of saying No.(掌握说不的艺术)”可知,本段主要讨论“学会拒绝”,空前“The fear of missing out often pushes us into unwanted gatherings.(对错过的恐惧常常把我们推向不想要的聚会)”提到人们常因害怕错过而参加不想要的社交活动,并建议礼貌拒绝。 Master the Art of Saying No和 Politely declining invitations对应setting boundaries without guilt。故选B。
根据空前内容“Social media creates fantasy of obligation.(社交媒体创造了了虚假的义务感)”可知,社交媒体制造了“虚假的义务感”(fantasy of obligation),下文“Schedule specific time to check messages instead of responding immediately. Research indicates that limiting social media use to 30 minutes daily significantly reduces anxiety.(安排特定的时间来检查邮件,而不是立即回复。研究表明,将社交媒体的使用时间限制在每天30分钟可以显著减少焦虑)”建议减少即时回复通知。选项G“许多线上互动是表演性的而非真实的”解释了这种虚假感的来源,与上下文逻辑一致。关键词匹配:Social media creates fantasy of obligation 对应performative rather than genuine。故选G。
根据本段主题句“Embrace Staying alone.(拥抱独处)”和下文“Regular staying alone allows for self- reflection and recharging. Historical figures like Newton and Kefka produced their best work during periods of being alone.(经常独处可以让你自我反省和充电。像牛顿和卡夫卡这样的历史人物在独处的时候创作了他们最好的作品)”可知, 最后一段主题是“享受独处”,并举例牛顿、卡夫卡在独处中创造伟大作品。选项A“独处不等于孤独”是段落的核心观点,且与后文“Start with short walks or coffee breaks alone to rediscover the joy of your own company.(从一个人散步或喝咖啡开始,重新发现与自己相处的乐趣)”中“重新发现与自己相处的乐趣”呼应。关键词匹配:Embrace staying alone和joy of your own company对应Being alone doesn’t mean being lonely。故选A。

Anna hurried down the noisy school hallway, trying to avoid everyone, especially Delia and her friends. Delia was taller, louder, and loved making Anna feel small and stupid, often laughing at her or pushing her books out of her hands. The big art exam that afternoon was super important for everyone, and Anna was nervous enough already.
Suddenly, she stopped. Delia’s locker (储物柜) door wasn’t closed! It was open just a crack. Looking inside, Anna saw the expensive paints and brushes Delia needed for the exam. Without them, Delia couldn’t take the test; she would fail for sure. Anna’s heart started pounding fast. “This is my chance,” she thought, “after all the mean (刻薄的) things Delia has done, I could just take them … or at least walk away and not close it.” She felt a hot wave of anger thinking about the pushes and cruel jokes.
At that moment, her friend Olivia beside her whispered, her eyes wide with excitement. “No one is watching! You could just grab her paints and brushes, slide them into your bag, and walk away. Delia would totally panic! She deserves it, Anna. Think about how she treats you. It would be perfect payback.”
Anna stared at the bright colors inside the locker. Her hand shook a little. Olivia was right; it would be so easy. She could make Delia feel as scared and helpless as Delia always made her feel. It seemed like fair revenge (报复). But then, Anna thought about the art exam. She loved painting; it was her way to escape and feel strong. Taking away someone else’s art supplies, even Delia’s, felt ... wrong. Was being mean back really the answer? Did she want to win by making someone else fail?
注意:
1.续写词数应为150左右;
Taking a deep breath Anna ignored Olivia’s words.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
After knowing the entire incident, Delia decided to change.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
One possible version:
Taking a deep breath, Anna ignored Olivia’s words. Instead of reaching in, she gently pushed the heavy metal locker door. It clicked firmly shut, locking Delia’s things safely inside. She didn’t look at Olivia’s surprised face. Turning, Anna walked quickly down the hall towards the art room. Olivia stood frozen, deeply shocked by Anna’s unexpected action. Witnessing this quiet act of consideration, she had to tell Delia the complete truth. It felt completely unfair that Anna put up with bullying while still showing such kindness to others.
After knowing the entire incident, Delia decided to change. Consumed by both shame and gratitude, Delia sought out Anna. With downcast eyes and a trembling voice, she approached her, offering a heartfelt apology: “I’m truly sorry for how I treated you before, and I’m incredibly grateful for your kindness towards me.” Hearing these words, Anna’s face lit up with overwhelming surprise. She forgave Delia, chose to melt away her hate and decided to build a genuine friendship. From that moment forward, Delia never laughed at Anna again. Instead, she became a firm friend, always ready to offer her support and help.

C By including digital effects in her performances.

Every Wednesday, retiree Zhang Zhili travels an hour by bus to an education center, drawn by the pulsing rhythms of the African drum she plays there in a classroom filled with fellow retirees whose hands move together, every beat lifting her spirits.
Many older Chinese are looking beyond traditional nursing homes afraid of abandonment by their families and quality issues.
A. It has already reached maturity and requires no further investment.

How to Avoid Meaningless Social Interactions
In today’s world, we often find ourselves trapped in tiring social circles that are using up our energy. Learning to identify and avoid meaningless interactions is crucial for mental well-being. Here are some practical strategies.

注意:
1.续写词数应为150左右;
Taking a deep breath, Anna ignored Olivia’s words.
