第一小节 应用文 参考范文
Dear Jack,
On hearing that you have been addicted to TikTok recently, I feel terribly sorry and can't wait to write this email in reply to your problem.
Actually, it is commonly seen that a growing number of teenagers get crazy about TikTok, spending plenty of time watching and sharing videos online, which makes it hard for them to focus on study. However, action must be taken before things get worse . In my opinion, you'd better try and develop other hobbies. Besides, communicating with friends face to face will do the trick. Only in this way will you shift your attention and form good habits.
I do hope my suggestions will be helpful to you. Looking forward to your good news.
Best wishes!
Yours,
Li Hua
第二节 读后续写 参考范文
I rushed straight to Artie’s shelf, but it was gone. My heart dropped and panic surged through me. I searched up and down each aisle, my hopes fading with every empty spot. A kind clerk who noticed my distress said gently, “That aardvark doll was sold yesterday.” Tears blurred my vision. How could Artie be gone? Heartbroken, I stumbled out of the store, forcing a smile to Mom who was waiting for me outside. “Is everything alright?” Mom asked. “Nothing much,” I mumbled, hiding my trembling lip.
On Thanksgiving Day, as we were allowed to open one present, Rich walked up. He held out a small, clumsily wrapped box. “It’s for you,” he whispered. With surprise and curiosity, I carefully unwrapped it, and there lay Artie! I gasped, speechless with emotion. Rich grinned, “I bought him with all my savings. Now he’s yours forever.” Overwhelmed with joy, I hugged him tightly, with tears streaming down my cheeks. It wasn’t just a stuffed aardvark doll, but a gift of pure love from my family. It was the best Thanksgiving gift forever.

Text 1
W: Have you seen the movie “Hangover”? We went to see it last night.
M: How was it?
W: Jason thought it was extremely amusing, but I was a bit disappointed.
Text 2
M: Susan, I heard you are going to France. How long will you be staying there?
W: A whole year. My aunt lives there. I’m going to do a one-month course at a language school and spend the rest of the time traveling.
Text 3
M: Let’s see what drinks you’ve got for the party tonight.
W: Everything! Beer, wine, soft drinks like Coke, 7-Up…you name it, I’ve got it! Have you ordered the cake?
M: Of course.
Text 4
M: I don’t have a library card. Do I need one?
W: You have to have one only to take books out. You’re okay if you just sit in one of the rooms reading.
M: Well then, I’ll just read here. Thank you.
Text 5
W: I wish I knew the times of the trains to London. But our phone’s out of order.
M: Don’t worry, Grandma. I’ll find out for you on the Internet.
W: Thank you!
Text 6
W: Excuse me. I wonder if you could tell me how to find a place to have my shoes mended. I’m new in town.
M: Ah, there is a good shop not far from here. Go straight ahead and walk about three blocks. I can’t remember the name of the shop, but you’ll find it. It’s near the police station. By the way, you know about the town guide? It’s a thin book and has all kinds of useful information. You’ll find one in any bookstore.
W: Thanks a lot! You’ve been so helpful. Let’s see. Did you say the repair shop was three blocks away from here?
M: Exactly.
W: Thanks again.
Text 7
M: I’ve been here many times. There are quite a lot of delicious dishes to choose from. What are you thinking of ordering?
W: Well, I haven’t decided yet. What are you going to order?
M: I think I’ll have the roast chicken. They really make it well here.
W: I had roast chicken yesterday when I ate out with Shelly.
M: Their beef steak is good, too. You can have it served with beans and mushrooms.
W: But I'm not that hungry. Is the fried fish or the seafood salad good?
M: Never had them before. Maybe if you get the steak, we could share.
W: That sounds like a good idea.
Text 8
W: Hello, Mr. White. Do you think it’s possible for us to talk sometime today?
M: I’d love to, Miss Wilson, but I’ve got a pretty tight schedule today. I’ve got to finish reading the yearly financial report by 10. Then I have to drive to the airport to pick up an advertiser at 11. After that, I’ll have a meeting with him over lunch.
W: Can I see you after lunch?
M: Well, let me see…after lunch, I have to attend a senior staff meeting, which may last about two hours. Can you come at 3? We can talk for an hour before I meet my sales team at 4.
W: I’m afraid an hour is too short. What about tomorrow morning?
M: 9 to 11, then. I’ll wait for you at the office.
W: OK, see you then.
Text 9
W: Hey, Bill. I hear they’re going to send you to Germany for the new project.
M: Boy, news travels fast around here! I only got the orders a couple of hours ago. Rachel doesn’t even know…
W: Oh, no? So, what are you waiting for? When do you plan to tell her?
M: Well, she is at work at the moment. She doesn’t finish until 5. I’ll have to wait until tonight now, I suppose.
W: Well, I was posted there before, back in 2008. It’s OK — a bit like England, really. At least the weather is similar, and the people aren’t much different. The only thing I didn’t like is the food, especially the sausages. What do you intend to do about the family? Are you going to take them with you?
M: Well, I’d like to, but I don’t know much about the situation at the moment…you know, about schools and all that. But I hope to move the family out there in a couple of months’ time. I don’t think I want to spend a year and a half out there on my own...I mean, without Rachel and the kids. I mean, I don’t see that much of them now as it is.
W: Yeah. Well, that’s the way it is normally in our company, I suppose.
M: Yeah. Well, we’ll see. Let me pay for the coffee.
W: No, no. I’ll pay.
Text 10
W: Hello, everyone. Welcome to our program. I’m Jenny Jackson. The weather here in Juárez has become unbearable. With no rains for over a year, the city is suffering from unusually hot weather. Some light showers have been forecast since last month, but all of them have been effective in surrounding areas. Summer has not even started yet, but temperatures have reached 40 degrees centigrade in the past three days. And people have been warned not to go out of their homes — not if you walk on foot, at least — between 11 in the morning and 7 in the evening. Little kids and the elderly are the ones who have suffered the most from this extreme heat wave. They must drink water all the time. To help our audience have a better understanding of this extreme weather, we have invited Prof. Torres from University of Mexico to our studio this evening.

One of the advantages of social media is that we get to see aspects of people’s lives that can be rather surprising. In fact, some of the videos that get shared remind us of the many hidden— and not-so-hidden — talents that are out there.
Recently a video was shared of a construction worker taking a break and treating his co-workers to a beautiful musical interlude (插曲) in their busy day. Archive Gould, a painter working for a specialized painting company in Edmonton, was carrying out a job in front of a library. Looking in the window, one of his workmates noticed there was a public piano inside.
Gould explained to CTV News that his workmates were aware that he’d played the piano for years, but he’d never been able to showcase his talents. Therefore on the first day on site, Gould sat down in his paint-stained work clothes to play for his workmates.
“It was so heart melting. I love classical music to begin with. Seeing him playing exceptionally well, I was totally touched,” his work mate, Kerrie Bates, shared her reaction to Gould’s performance. As for Gould, he was also delighted to have the opportunity to show his workmates that he was indeed able to play the piano.
The performance was shared online, where it notched up an impressive number of views. And Gould came up with why he thought the video had become so popular, “I think half the reason that the video blew up is that I look like a construction worker. No one expects a construction worker to just demonstrate some classical music like it’s nothing.”
However, his performance is not just a lesson in looking beyond a person’s outward appearance, It also reminds us that we should develop our talents gradually and enjoy them as and when we can, While we might not all be able to become professional pianists or singers, there’s so much joy to be had in having a passion and sharing it with others.
24. What role does social media play according to the first paragraph?
A. A platform for people to show talents.
B. A means of communication and expression.
C. A place for people to share common interest.
D. A tool to remind us of some important things.
25. How did Kerrie Bates react to Gould’s performance?
A. She considered it was incredible.
B. She thought it held lasting artistic values.
C. She found it was more accessible to workers.
D. She believed it deserved a great deal of fame.
26. What does the underlined phrase “notched up” in paragraph 5 probably mean?
A. Reserved. B. Required. C. Convinced. D. Earned.
27. What does Gould’s story convey?
A. The early bird catches the worm. B. Never judge a book by its cover.
C. Actions speak louder than words. D. Nothing is difficult to a willing heart.
C
When visiting a doctor in the future, you can expect to be accompanied by a virtual version of yourself. This so-called digital twin will be a working model of your body that can be shown onto a physician’s computer screen. Updated with your latest vital signs, it will help the doctor make an accurate diagnosis (诊断) and provide personalized treatments for the patients.
No matter how unreal this might seem, the researchers at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) already use computer simulations (模拟) of the hearts of patients to test different treatments for a heart disorder. It would be far too dangerous to experiment this way on someone’s real heart.
Digital twins are starting to be seen everywhere. They can not only monitor the health of jet engines on airliners, but also help carmakers spend fewer years on the development of new models by simulating test drives and crashes. All this is being powered by recent progress in artificial intelligence (AI), which gives twins the ability to make predictions about their physical counterparts (对应的事物), and adjust themselves based on new information..
Digital twins make it easier for humans to solve challenging problems, allowing people to have a look into the future. For businesses, this should mean better designs and operations. For society, the promise is also fascinating: personalized health care, and ways to prevent the earth from environmental disasters.
Could these virtual twins go out of control? They might if they are programmed badly, or hacked into. Digital twins will take in mountains of data, some of it wrong and much of it raising concerns about privacy. Yet those risks are a natural part of technological progress. The appearance of the digital mirror world will raise new questions, but its potential benefits are already easy to see.
28. Which of the following best describes a digital twin?
A. A virtual version. B. A video game.
C. A toy model. D. A medical database.
29. Why do researchers at QMUL use computer simulations of hearts?
A. To reduce the time of the heart operation.
B. To use real hearts much more conveniently.
C. To help increase the patients’ recovery rates.
D. To avoid the danger of experimenting on real hearts.
30. How does AI contribute to the development of digital twins?
A. It increases the efficiency of simulations through data analysis.
B. It creates accurate digital copies for medical and industrial use.
C. It enables digital twins to predict results and adapt on their own.
D. It improves virtual models by adding real-time monitoring features.
31. Which of the following is the most suitable title for the passage?
A. Digital Twins: A Potential Threat to Privacy
B. Digital Twins: The Future of Problem-Solving
C. Digital Twins: A New Age of Medical Treatment
D. Digital Twins: A Double-Edged Sword of Technology
D
Blue Planet II’s latest episode(一集) focuses on how plastic is having a disastrous effect on the ocean and slowly poisoning our sea creatures. Researchers recently also found that sea creatures living in the deepest place on Earth, the Mariana Trench, have plastic in their stomachs. Indeed, the oceans are drowning in plastic.
Though it seems now that the world couldn’t possibly function without plastics, consumer plastics are a remarkably recent invention. The first plastic bags were introduced in the 1950s; the same decade that plastic packaging began gaining in popularity in the United States. This growth has happened so fast that science is still catching up with the change. Plastics pollution research, for instance, is still a very early science.
We put all these plastics into the environment and we still don’t really know what the outcomes are going to be. What we do know, though, is disturbing. Ocean plastic is estimated to kill millions of marine animals every year. Nearly 700 species, including endangered ones, are known to have been affected by it. One in three leatherback turtles, which often mistake plastic bags for jellyfish, have been found with plastic in their bellies. Ninety percent of seabirds are now eating plastics on a regular basis. By 2050, that figure is expected to rise to 100 percent.
And it’s not just wildlife that is threatened by the plastics in our seas. Humans are consuming plastics through the seafood we eat. I could understand why some people see ocean plastic as a disaster, worth mentioning to the same degree as climate change. But ocean plastic is not as complicated as climate change. There are no ocean trash deniers (否认者), at least so far. To do something about it, we don’t have to remake our planet energy system.
This is not a problem where we don’t know what the solution is. We know how to pick up garbage. Anyone can do it. We know how to dispose (处理) of it. We know how to recycle. We can all start by thinking twice before we use single — use plastic products. Things that may seem ordinary, like using a reusable bottle or a reusable bag — when taken collectively, these choices really do make a difference.
32. What’s the function of the author mentioning Blue Planet II’s latest episode in the first paragraph?
A. It serves as a comment. B. It serves as a lead-in.
C. It serves as a background. D. It serves as a conclusion.
33. Why is plastics pollution research still a very early science?
A. Plastics have gained in popularity too fast for science to catch up.
B. Plastics have produced less pollution than coal.
C. The world couldn’t possibly function without plastics.
D. The plastics pollution research is too difficult.
34. How did the author support his opinion in Paragraph 3?
A. By using examples from his own experience.
B. By quotations from leading experts.
C. By figures.
D. By comparison and contrast.
35. What is the main idea of this passage?
A. Ocean plastic is a global issue.
B. Plastics gain in popularity all over the world.
C. Blue Planet II has left viewers heartbroken.
D. The oceans become threatened with plastic.
第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分)根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
We all have relationships. We have relatives, classmates, neighbors and probably some friends. 36 They are unsatisfying because they lack real strength, and they lack real strength because they lack real depth. I’d like to show you how to build stronger relationships and make your social life a lot more meaningful.
Meet more people.
You go out a lot, you meet a lot of new people and you keep widening your social circle. Thus, you’re much more likely to meet people you match up well with. 37
Talk about the things that matter to you.
38 If they believe and care about the same things, they’ll eagerly let you know. So you’ll find common ground and you’ll feel more connected.
39
Many people try to come off as perfect. However, by hiding your imperfections, what you do succeed in is appearing cold. Humans connect with other humans; not with ideals(完美的人). Keep this in mind. Don’t be afraid to let your weakness and your humanity show. This is what takes a relationship to the next level.
Be there for others.
Connections between people grow stronger, if they can depend on each other for support when it’s needed. 40 Your support will help them practically, and it will comfort them spiritually.
A. Be more confident.
B. Don’t care whether it means a few kind words or several great actions.
C. Tell people what you experienced and give others a chance to know what you care about and what you believe in.
D. But it’s hard for everyone to connect with you.
E. Express weakness.
F. These people can probably become your good friends, reliable partners, etc.
G. However, for a large percentage of us, many of these relationships are simply not satisfying.

第二节 读后续写(满分25分)
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
Every time we went to Lehman’s store, I would rush straight to the same shelf. There it was: a brown little guy with a large nose that fit perfectly over my shoulder. I hugged the brown stuffed aardvark (土豚) doll tightly and whispered, “Hi, Artie.”
Last week, my mother finally noticed. “Why do you always disappear?” she asked at checkout. “Next time, your brother is going with you.”
Oh, no! My brother, Rich, was going to accompany me into the store. He would watch me and report everything to our mother.
Anyway, I wasn’t going to give up seeing my precious Artie. So, when Rich and I walked into the store together, I advised him to get the daily groceries, since he was older. He agreed but said I shouldn’t go off to look at the cosmetics (化妆品), as I wasn’t allowed to wear them yet.
He needn’t have worried about that; I was already heading toward Artie. There it was, awaiting me. I grabbed it and hugged it tightly. Just then, I heard my brother: “What in the world are you doing?”
“This is Artie,” I said. “I hug it every single time I come here. Don’t tell Mom. I know we can’t afford it, and I hope it doesn’t get sold, because I just love this little guy.”
The look on Rich’s face was unreadable, but I knew deep down that he wasn’t going to make fun of me. In fact, a few times when he accompanied me to the store, he said, “Go on and hug your ugly animal, if it’s still there, and I’ll get the groceries.”
