教学内容
教学重点:
1. 列举并梳理各种日常生活中的DIY活动;
2. 在活动中熟练谈论想要做的手工活动、需要的材料和方法步骤;
3. 通过小组活动展示DIY活动材料和步骤,感受手工活动的乐趣。
教学难点:
1. 在模拟真实的语境中,学生能综合运用核心语言谈论手工活动;
2. 学生能够联系日常生活中DIY手工活动的趣味性和创造性,谈论DIY有趣的理由。
教学过程
Step 1 Warm-up and lead-in
1. Watch a video about DIY;
2. Play a guessing game and look at some pictures about tools.
Step 2 Hands-on activities
1. View the picture and answer questions:
Q1.What can you see in the picture?
Q2. What is the girl doing?
Q3. What do you think of when talking about DIY?
Students can get some basic information related to the topic after viewing the picture, and understand the importance of hands-on practice from the topic sentence: There's no better tool than our hands.
In our life, we have used our hands to make many new things, From the pictures, we can find that our hands are so great that they can create new miracles. Now, we'll get to know some popular DIY activities!

Look at the pictures again and match them with correct activities:

通过听力练习,设置听力理解表格,了解Millie和Suzy谈话中的“做什么”(what)、“用什么做”(tools)、“如何做”(steps) 三大块重要内容,提取归纳关键信息。

2.Steps for hands-on activities
以制作纸玫瑰中步骤为例,简单利用如First,next,then,finally等连词将信息组织好,培养学生的整体语篇意识,并通过做月饼,煮意大利面等真实语境练习活动步骤。
3.Think and discuss:Do you think making things by hand is fun? Why or why not?
Step 4 Conclusion: We can talk about DIY from three aspects:
Step 5 Group work
Share your own DIY experiences in the group of four, and choose your favourite one to make a presentation.
Step 6 Homework
1.Have to do: Make your DIY and write down how you did it in English.
2.Choose to do: Learn more about DIY on the Internet and create a short video about DIY.
