Last December, I was looking for a beautiful mountain resort (度假胜地) for my holiday. A friend suggested Zermat. The name alone was enough to interest me at once, so I did some research, bought a ticket, and soon found myself on a plane to Switzerland.
Located in the south of the country, Zermat is known for its mountainous scenery. The town sits at the foot of the Matterhorn, one of the most famous mountains in the Alps. As my train moved towards Zermat, I couldn’t wait to see with my own eyes the shape of the great Matterhorn.
I come from the busy city of Bangkok, and it was fascinating to find myself in a small town with fewer than 6,000 people. Throughout the year, Zermatt’s population increases very much with tourists. The town, which is famous for its outdoor activities, invites people to come to ski, hike, climb…anything, as long as they don’t bring their car.
Before I got there, I found out that I wouldn’t be able to rent (租) a car. In fact, cars that use traditional oil are not allowed inside the town. That’s because the people of Zermatt are so proud of their view of the great Matterhorn that they don’t want it blocked by air pollution from cars. So visitors like me usually arrive in Zermat by train.
I quite enjoyed being “car-free” and exploring the place on foot. I used one of the town’s electric taxis when I wanted to travel a bit further. I also took an electric bus once. But nothing was more fun than exploring the area in an old-fashioned horse-drawn carriage (四轮马车). I was happy to exchange the polluted skies of downtown Bangkok for the clean, clear mountain air. And until I experienced the peace and quiet in Zermatt, I didn’t realise how much traffic noise I hear every day. The town’s electric cars were practically silent.
19.Where is Zermatt located?
A.In France. B.In Switzerland. C.In Italy. D.In Austria.
20.What is Zermatt famous for?
A.Its beaches. B.Its nightlife. C.Its traditional food. D.Its activities in the open air.
21.Which transport can’t be used in Zermatt?
A.Electric taxis. B.Cars running on oil. C.Electric bus. D.Horse-drawn carriage.
22.What did the writer notice about Zermat compared to Bangkok?
A.It is quieter. B.It has more traffic. C.It is more polluted. D.It has less clean air.

Nina felt nervous this morning. She couldn’t believe that she decided to try out for a talent show. She loved to sing but she disliked singing in front of other people.
Taking a deep breath, she pushed open the door of the theater and went inside.

Everyone faces difficulties in their life. Daniel Kish was born with a special eye illness and lost his eyesight when he was only 14 months old.
Soon after, however, he started to do an amazing thing. He learned to make clicks (咔哒声) with sonar (声呐) to help him move around. Kish now moves about using sonar. He is so good at it that he can ride a bicycle by himself on public roads. And he started the organization World Access for the Blind (WAFTB) in 2000, teaching others how to use sonar. In the interview with National Geographic, he explains how the sonar works.
“When I make a click sound, it produces sound waves. These waves reflect (反射) off surfaces around and return to my ears. My brain then deals with the sound and turns it into pictures in my mind. Each click is like a camera flash, which helps me make a 3-D picture of my surroundings for hundreds of feet. It’s like having a conversation with the environment.”
Kish feels it is exciting to ride a bike using sonar, although he needs to click twice a sound, much more than he usually does. “It may sound a bit dangerous to move around the world in this way,” he says. “But most people in the world live in fear of things that they imagine. I love hiking and mountain-biking. I go almost everywhere. And I’ve never had an accident and hurt myself.”
He is happy to be able to help more blind children to improve their life. “We’ve served over 10,000 students in nearly 40 countries,” he tells the reporter. “Many students are surprised how quickly results come. Seeing isn’t in the eyes. It’s in the mind.”

A.when he grew up B.when he was born
C.when he went to work D.when he was 14 months old

C.he has a great interest in science D.it is good for him to keep healthy
29.What can we learn about World Access for the Blind (WAFTB) from the passage?
A.It offers the blind free bicycles B.It teaches the blind to use sonar.
C.It helps blind find more friends D.It sells sonar products to the blind.
30.Which of the following is the right order showing how the sonar works?

On the first evening, we came to a park and sold the toys in front of it. We waited for our first customer excitedly. However, many people passed by, but few would have a look at our toys. My brother advised me to shout out to draw people’s attention. Though I felt shy at first, I shouted with him at last. It worked. Soon, we got our first customer and sold a toy monkey. At the end of that day, we sold five toys in total. On the seventh night, a policeman noticed us and warned us to leave. So our business life ended. We sold 60 toys and got about 300 yuan. The money was far from enough for our travel, but we learned that making money was not easy.

I will never forget the Art Festival in my high school when I won a big price. All my teacher and classmates think I have a gift for 66 (paint). I made a lot of 75 (wonder) pictures later with her help. Since then, I have been crazy about crayons and paints. I enjoyed myself in the world of colors every time I paint.
【答案】
66.painting 67.worse 68.was playing 69.dropped 70.to blow 71.directions 72.until/till 73.a 74.me 75.wonderful
decide to do sth.
