After moving to the United States in 1901,19-year-old Bob Douglas found a job as a doorman in New York.
Later,a co-worker took him to visit a basketball court, and he was amazed by the athletic prowess on display. At
that moment,Douglas, who had enjoyed playing sports as a child, was determined to create a basketball team
and provide greater opportunities for New York City's Black athletes.
He needed to find a place for his team to play. When asking a ballroom owner,William Roach, for permission
to use one of the dance floors,Douglas was replied with "you guys will break up my place".After promising to
take on all the financial risk,he finally persuaded Roach to change his mind and called the team "Rens".
However, their ballroom had fewer seats and attracted fewer people than others,so Douglas had to pack the
house to generate profits and keep his team alive. They traveled the country playing any opponent that would
agree to schedule them, during which they repeatedly faced discrimination and unfair treatment and the players
were often banned from hotels and restaurants.

Like many writers,I'm a top master at procrastination ()When I should be working on a task, with
the clock ticking towards my deadline,I'll sit there watching meaningless interviews or cat videos on the Internet.
According to the traditional thinking-I,along with my friend procrastinators, have a time management
problem.By this view,I haven't fully understood how long my task is going to take and I'm not paying enough
attention to how much time I'm actually wasting on videos. With better scheduling(时间安排),I will stop
procrastinating and get on with my work.
Increasingly, however, psychologists are realizing this is wrong.Researchers in the UK have showed that
procrastination is a matter with managing our emotions, not our time. The task we're putting offis making us feel
bad-perhaps it's boring, too difficult or we're worried about failing-and to make ourselves feel better in the
moment,we start doing something else, like watching videos.
One research to encourage the emotional view of procrastination was published by researchers at Case
Westem Reserve University. They first made people feel bad (by asking them to read sad stories)and showed
that this increased their repeated habit to procrastinate by playing video games instead of preparing for the test
they knew was coming.Following studies by another team also showed feeling down only makes people
procrastinate more if they have fun things to divert (their attention.
This fresh view on procrastination is beginning to open up exciting new methods to reducing the habit.A
method, which is based on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy(接纳与承诺疗法),seems especially proper.
It argues that ordering choices and actions that help you get closer to get things done can keep you away from
the unpleasant feelings. So the next time you're going to procrastinate, make your focus as simple as "What's the
next action?"Focusing on this one-step question takes your mind off your feelings and onto easily achievable
action. Our research and lived experience show very clearly that once we get started, usually we're able to keep
going.Getting started is "everything".
65.Traditionally,we think procrastinators are those who
A.are usually responsible people
B.have difficulty in managing time
C.enjoy watching videos while writing
D.can get work done with better organization
66.What can we learn from Paragraph 4?
A.Low emotions lead to procrastination.
B.Procrastination improves your moods.
C.Test-takers cannot escape bad emotions.
D.Procrastination only happens during video games.
67.Why does the writer suggest focusing on one simple question?
A.Because it shortens the whole process
B.It makes the task seem more important.
C.Because it may reduce unpleasant feelings.
D.Because it fixes time management problem.
68.What is the writer's main purpose in writing this passage?
A.To introduce new studies about procrastination.
B.To compare different reasons for procrastination.
C.To discuss what effect procrastination brings about.
D.To explain how good time management matters in life.

Talking to yourself isn't just for humans it's for robots too.
Italian researchers have developed a robot that can speak to itself, which enables users to hear its thought
process and know how the robot make decisions.
"If you were able to hear what the robots are thinking, the robots might be more trustworthy,"one of the
researchers Antonio Chella says."The robots will be easier to understand for people who aren't engineers. In
other words,we can communicate and work with the robots better."
People talk to themselves when looking for clarity and moral(道德方面的)guidance, and it helps in the
decision-making process. The researchers set out to see how this could influence robots,so they developed one
called Pepper, and they trained it to set a table. They then gave it the ability to say,in simple English, what it was
"thinking"when completing a job.
After studying the robot, the researchers found that Pepper was better at facing dilemmas when talking to
itself. One experiment saw a user ask Pepper to break table setting rules by putting a fork in the wrong place,
which led to the robot asking itself several self-directed questions. It then decided that the user might be wrong,
so it made sure the user didn't give the wrong order before it went on talking to itself:"Emm,this situation is
difficult to me.I would never break the rules, but I can't make him unhappy either,so I'm doing what he wants,"
Pepper said while putting the fork in the wrong place. The user can understand Pepper's thoughts as it uses its
inner voice to solve a dilemma, which the researchers say could lead to human-robot trust.
Comparing Pepper's performance with and without inner speech,Chella discovered that the robot worked
faster with inner speech, which means when it was talking to itself."People were very surprised by the robot's
ability,"Chella says."The research makes the robot different from other machines because it has the ability to
reason,to think.Inner speech could be useful in all the situations where we trust the computer or a robot for
evaluation of a situation.
Although hearing the inner voice of robots enriches the human-robot interaction, some people might find it
inefficient because the robot spends more time completing jobs when it talks to itself. The robot's inner speech is
also just the knowledge that researchers gave it.Still,Chella says their research lays the groundwork for more
research into how self-dialogue can help robots pay attention, plan and learn.
69.What can we learn from the research?
A.Inner speech helps the robot finish tasks better.
B.The research can help people understand robots'actions.
C.The Italian researchers created a new language for robots.
D.The robot helped study people's decision-making process.
70.What does the underlined word "dilemmas"in paragraph 5 mean?
A.Simple problems to understand and solve.
B.Unclear orders for robots to figure out
C.Questions that need answers from others
D.Choices between things of the same importance.
71.When asked to put a fork in the wrong place, what did Pepper do?
A.It put the fork in the correct place.
B.It ignored the user and followed the rules.
C.It completed the task without any self-dialogue.
D.It questioned the user's request and then followed it.
72.Which of the following would be the best title for the passage?
A.Robots:Learn to Learn.
B.Robots:Make Better Speeches.
C.Robots:Think Out Loud.
D.Robots:Always Trust Humans.
