Yesterday,my 6-year-old son taught me a valuable lesson that stayed with me for hours.
It might sound surprising, but ne taught me a powerful lesson.
A few weeks ago,I had to travel for work, and I couldn't spend much time with my son.
Even though he is a bit stubborn(固执的),he's growing up fast..That's when the lesson
happened. While I was eating dinner,he was in the bath, and suddenly he started crying.I
asked him what happened, and he said,“Shampoo(选发水)got in my eyes.”
I got really worried and rushed into the bathroom.I tried to help by splashing (water
on his eyes, but things got worse when he rubbed his eyes with his soapy hands.I was nervous,
telling him not to use his hands.
Out of the blue,he said,"Calm down!Dad."It amazed me.I realized I was making things
worse.I stopped splashing water, washed his hands, and calmly told him to use his hands to
clean his eyes while blinking ()It worked, and he felt better.
I'm not sure where he learned to stay calm, maybe from me or somewhere else. But the
bigger lesson is that when we face problems, acting emotionally and quickly might not be best.
Staying calm and thinking about the right solution is better.
In today's tough job market with many people losing their jobs,it's easy to feel worried.
My son's lesson reminded me that staying calm and taking a moment to relax can help us face
challenges with a clear mind, more energy, and better solutions.

When people think about improving their physical fitness, they often ignore balance.
Good balance is a necessary part of being physically fit and key to living a long life, according
to a research. It's important for everyone,no matter your age.
Older adults are most affected by poor balance.Falls are the leading cause of injury and
death for those 65 and older, with nearly 30%in this age group reporting at least one fall in
2018,according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. But younger adults
frequently fall down,too
Forty-eight percent of young adults reported falling at least once during one 16-week
study. The falls most commonly happened during sports activities, with women in the study
reporting more falls and fall-related injuries than men.
Falls within the previous two years were reported by 18%of young adults(ages 20 to 45)
in another study published in the journal BMC Public Health. That figure compared with 21%
of middle-aged adults(46 to 65)reporting falls and 35%of those over 65.While falls among
young adults were often connected with sports, falls by the middle-aged group were typically
related to health problems and physical changes.
Many factors )can affect your balance outside of age, such as vision changes, brain
iniunes, overweight and a general lack of physical fitness.Even if you have no risk factors,

We all want to give our kids the best possible advice, but when it comes to what path they
should explore after education and what career possibilities are out there, where should we
start?
"For parents.the most important thing is to keep options open and to understand that
equipping them with life skills are important,"says secondary school teacher David Earl.
Your kid will probably have some idea of the terms“growth mindset(思维模式)”and
"fixed mindset".Simply put,the central idea of the growth mindset is that intelligence and
ability can be developed, and children who have this idea will try to seek opportunities to push
themselves, understanding that they are likely to achieve what they want if they persevere.
This chanenges a fixed mindset, the idea that a child's ability is limited and set in advance.
Help your kid prepare for closed doors, tough interviews, rejection (letters by
encouraging them to embrace them and understand that none of them is failure.Remind them
of things they've overcome, suggesting they view every negauve expeence as a chance to
learn and grow, rather than an end point.
Employers lay stress on all kinds of life skills, including problem-solving,leadership and
creative thinking. So getting your children to think about those skills is helpful.Barclays
LifeSkills has listed skills important for individuals in their future careers-communicating
through videos and audio, rather than writing, and working with people from different
generations and backgrounds.
Good grades and passing examinations may seem like the most important ihing io your
kid right now,but try to encourage them to also think of longer-term goals.By thinking of a
long-term goal, you may be able to find areas they need to improve.
Thinking about the future can be challenging, but it's important that your kid understands
thaf the next step is just that one small step.It doesn't have to be anything as huge as what
career to pursue or which course to take. This is a team effort:Ask teachers, friends,or turn to
experts for tips.
32.What does the growth mindset stress?
A.A child's ability can be improved.
B.Success comes only from good grades.
C.One's intelligence stays unchanged.
D.Children should avoid challenges to succeed.
33.Which is closest in meaning to the underlined word "embrace"in Paragraph 4?
A.Ignore.
B.Measure.
C.Perform.
D.Accept.
6
34.Which of the following might the author agree with?
A.Children should consider long-term goals instead of good grades.
B.It's parents'responsibility to choose their children'future careers.
C.It's a life skill to get along with people from different backgfounds.
D.Children should be independent of their parents as early as possible.
35.Who is the text mainly intended for?
A.Children.
B.Employers
C.Parents.
D.Teachers.
