From February to October, there were changes in a homeless cat in our neighborhood.
In the beginning, each time I tried to walk close to her, she ran away, so I decided to set her free, but something strange happened in October. A week ago, this homeless cat became a friend of my daughter Cindy’s. Each time Cindy walked over, the cat welcomed her.
It happened day after day until this morning when Cindy left her a bowl of can food. I guess that ended the cat’s homeless life because Cindy even started calling the cat “Sunny”. I thought Sunny would like to be a cat in our home because she seemed to want Cindy to be her forever friend.
Isn’t it great that friendship makes both my daughter’s and the cat’s lives different? A true friend can make our life more beautiful.

The full name of this three-year-old star is Cheng Hehua. She lives in Chengdu, and visitors may wait for up to three hours to just see her. Some time ago, she had a new job—the honorary chief of the Chengdu Municipal Bureau of Culture, Broadcast-TV and Tourism (成都文旅荣誉局长). Why do people like her? Because she is shorter than other pandas of her age, which makes her look a little fat and cute. Some people even describe her as a rice ball when she sits.
There is a king in the water, the giant Amazonian water lily. She needs a lot of sunshine to grow well so she often fights with other plants in the same water. No other plants can live near her spiky buds (有尖刺的花蕾). She can move her buds to make more room for herself. Her leaves grow 20 cm a day and each of them can grow to over 2 meters wide (宽的). And she can have seven to eight leaves. The leaves are very strong. You can even stand on them! That makes other plants go away. And all her leaves are next to each other. In most places of the world, a five-day work week is common. But in some places, people are starting to pay workers the same money for working just four days a week.
The idea isn’t new but businesses have been slow to try it. They may be worried about getting less work for their money. But the result of a last year’s test shows the change may be good for both businesses and workers.
Last June, 51 UK companies agreed to take part in the four-day work week test. In July, another 10 companies joined, too. They paid their workers the same money and told their workers to try to do as much in four days as they usually did in five. It took six months to do the test, and the result was good for most businesses. During the test, some companies had fewer meetings, or made sure they were shorter. Others used technology to help workers to finish their work quickly. Some companies created a “focus time (专注时间)” so workers could work on just one thing. So, workers worked faster and better. What’s more, the companies made more money.
Most workers were pleased with the four-day work week. Some people said they could get more training and take care of things at home. Others said they could spend more time with their families.

At the end of the test, ninety-two percent of the companies taking part in the test said they planned to keep the four-day work week.
