M: Good afternoon, I want to thank Professor Johnson for giving me the chance to talk to you today about Alaska. One of the things that concern me most is the future of the Alaska environment. About twenty years ago, before going on some wilderness research, I visited Anchorage, the largest city in Alaska. It was a small city of 40,000 people surrounded by a quiet wilderness. When I made a recent trip there, I found amazing changes. Anchorage now has a hundred and eight thousand people. There’re tall buildings, shopping centers and all the crowds and traffic jams. The forests and mountains are still nearby, but they seem so small compared to the city’s great size. The discovery of oil in Alaska brought increased wealth to the state. However, there have been too many people moving to Alaska in a very short period to work on the pipeline. There is not enough housing or transportation. I think Alaska must make important decisions soon. Alaskans need to decide how to develop their natural resources and mineral wealth without destroying the wilderness and harming the wildlife. What is decided on now will affect the generations to come. For today’s lecture, I’ve brought along many of the pictures I usually show in my environmental science classes in my own university. First, I’ll show you some pictures of Alaska’s wilderness as it is today. Then I’d like to outline my specific suggestions. A Four of the world’s greatest national parks Komodo Location: Indonesia Area:1,733km² Home to the world’s largest lizard (蜥蜴), the Komodo dragon, Komodo National Park is made up of 29 islands in the center of the Indonesian archipelago (群岛). It had been forty years since I graduated high school, but the staircase haunted my memories. Boys would sit on both sides of the staircase, rating the girls as we walked by. If they thought a girl was really ugly, they barked. Every time I walked up or down those stairs, the barks, woofs, and laughter rang in my ears. “Just ignore them,” my mother advised. And I did. On the surface. But inside, the painful message that I was ugly rooted deep into my soul. Eventually, I graduated, got accepted to college and landed a rewarding career. Then I got an invitation to my fortieth high school reunion. I didn’t like high school, but I wanted to go back and tell those boys how hurtful and unkind they were. And I wanted to show them they were wrong. I had a husband, a family and all the things they’d made me feel I wasn’t worthy of. In September, I put on my favorite blouse, touched up my make-up, and drove to the Friday night opening reception. However, on the night, people greeted me politely, flattering me with “You haven’t changed at all.” I’d look at the face and study the nametag with the graduation photo, but it didn’t ring a bell most of the time. Was I at the wrong reunion? No, some women remembered my mother being their Girl Scout leader. Others had kind things to say about my father, a local college professor. My planned speech wilted (枯萎) on my lips. Instead, I chatted breezily about my two grown sons and living in Seattle. People were nice enough, but aside from a couple of friends, I felt like I was talking to strangers. It was pointless to hold a grudge (怨恨) against people I couldn’t even recognize. I was only hurting myself by replaying those memories in my mind. I knew I needed to forgive. A dark sorrow lifted from my soul. I felt happier, more self-confident and attractive. Back home, our senior fitness instructor noticed that I was wearing a new T-shirt. “You are really rockin’ that shirt,” she said. I smiled. She’d said that before, but this time I believed it. 24. Why did the author decide to attend the 40th high school reunion? A. To meet her old teachers. B. To prove her career success. C. To apologize for past misunderstandings. D. To confront hurtful boys and show her worth. 25. What can be inferred about the author’s feelings after the high school reunion? A. Confused and sad. B. Angry and proud. C. Relieved and confident. D. Disappointed and regretful. 26. What can we learn from this passage? A. The author fought against her bullies directly. B. The reunion attendees were mostly strangers. C. The author’s career success healed her pain. D. The instructor’s compliment was first truly embraced. 27. Which is the best title for the passage? A. The Power of Letting Go B. A Surprising Reunion Letter C. Finding Friends in Strangers D. The Painful High School Years 【答案】24. D 25. C 26. D 27. 根据第三段中“Then I got an invitation to my fortieth high school reunion. I didn’t like high school, but I wanted to go back and tell those boys how hurtful and unkind they were. And I wanted to show them they were wrong. I had a husband, a family and all the things they’d made me feel I wasn’t worthy of. (后来,我收到了参加高中40周年同学聚会的邀请。我不喜欢高中,但我想回去告诉那些男孩,他们是多么伤人,多么不友善。我想证明他们错了。我有丈夫,有家庭,还有所有那些他们让我觉得自己不配拥有的一切)”可知,作者参加40周年高中同学会的目的是要面对曾经伤害她的男生,告诉他们其行为的伤人之处,并向他们展示她的自身价值。故选D。 【25题详解】 推理判断题。根据第五段“It was pointless to hold a grudge (怨恨) against people I couldn’t even recognize. I was only hurting myself by replaying those memories in my mind. I knew I needed to forgive. A dark sorrow lifted from my soul. I felt happier, more self-confident and attractive.(对那些我甚至都认不出人怀有怨恨,实在毫无意义。我在脑海里反复回想那些往事,不过是在自我伤害罢了。我明白,自己必须选择原谅。一种深深的悲伤从我的灵魂中消散,我感到前所未有的轻松快乐,也变得更加自信、更具魅力)”可知,同学会后作者心中的沉重悲伤消散,变得更快乐、更自信、更有魅力。由此推知,作者在同学会后感到释怀且自信。故选C。 【26题详解】 细节理解题。根据倒数第二段“Back home, our senior fitness instructor noticed that I was wearing a new T-shirt. “You are really rockin’ that shirt,” she said.(回到家,我们的老年健身教练注意到我穿了一件新T恤。“你穿这件衣服真好看,”她说)”以及最后一段“I smiled. She’d said that before, but this time I believed it.(我笑了笑。她以前也这么说过,但这次我相信了。)”可知,健身教练的赞美第一次被作者真正接受。故选D。 【27题详解】 主旨大意题。根据全文内容,尤其是倒数第三段“I knew I needed to forgive. A dark sorrow lifted from my soul. I felt happier, more self-confident and attractive. (我明白,自己必须选择原谅。一种深深的悲伤从我的灵魂中消散,我感到前所未有的轻松快乐,也变得更加自信、更具魅力)”可知,文章主要讲述了作者放下怨恨,通过原谅过去伤害过她的人,释放了内心的痛苦,变得更加快乐和自信。由此可知,A选项“The Power of Letting Go(放下的力量)”能够概括文章主旨,为最佳标题。故选A。 C Sleep, considered a luxury by many, is essential for a person’s health. Researchers have found that lack of sleep and tiredness increase a person’s risk of developing severe medical conditions, such as obesity (being very overweight), high blood sugar levels, and heart disease. Now, a new study has found that getting enough sleep is also the key to improving academic performance. Jeffrey Gross, the university science professor who led the research, was not trying to find the relationship between sleep and grades when he handed out smart watches to the 100 students in his chemistry class. Instead, the professor hoped the devices, which track a person’s physical activity, would show a connection between exercise and academic achievement. While Gross’s data showed no relationship between these two factors, the study found something surprising. As the researchers were analyzing their data, they noticed that there was a straight-line relationship between the average amount of sleep a student got and their results in the course’s 11 quizzes, three midterm tests, and the final exam. Even more interesting, it was not enough for students to just head to bed early the night before a test. Instead, it’s the sleep you get during the days when learning is happening that matters most. The time students went to bed each night was similarly important. Those who went to bed in early hours of the morning performed poorly, even if the total sleep time was the same as a higher-performing student. “When you go to bed matters,” Gross says, “If you go to bed at 10, or 12, or l at night, and sleep for seven hours, your performance is the same. But if you go to bed after 2, your performance starts to go down even if you get the same seven hours. So, quantity isn’t everything.” Perhaps the most interesting was the huge impact that small differences in sleep patterns had on the students’ grades. The overall course grades for students averaging six and a half hours of sleep each night were 25% lower than students who averaged just one hour more sleep. Similarly, students who varied their bedtime by even one hour each night had grades that dropped 45% below those with more regular bedtimes. 28. What have researchers found about lack of sleep? A. It can help people lose weight. B. It can make people more likely to get sick. C. It can reduce people’s risk of heart disease. D. It can improve people’s academic performance. 29. What was Professor Jeffrey Gross’s original intention? A. To study the relationship between sleep and grades. B. To investigate the impact of sleep on students’ health. C. To prove that smart watches can track physical activity. D. To find out the connection between exercise and academic achievement. 30. According to the text, which of the following is correct? A. The more sleep students get, the better their grades. B. It’s the sleep you get during the daytime that matters most. C. Differences in sleep patterns have great impact on students’ grades. D. Students who go to bed after 2 am can perform well by sleeping longer. 31. What is the main idea of the text? A. The importance of exercise for students. B. The relationship between sleep and health. C. The impact of sleep on academic performance. D. The benefits of using smart watches in class. B 29. D 30. C 31. 根据文章第一段“Researchers have found that lack of sleep and tiredness increase a person’s risk of developing severe medical conditions, such as obesity (being very overweight), high blood sugar levels, and heart disease.(研究人员发现,睡眠不足和疲劳会增加一个人患上严重疾病的风险,比如肥胖(体重严重超标)、高血糖水平以及心脏病。如今,一项新的研究发现,充足的睡眠也是提高学习成绩的关键。)”可知,研究人员发现睡眠不足和疲劳会增加一个人患上严重疾病的风险,比如肥胖(体重严重超标)、高血糖水平以及心脏病。也就是说,研究人员发现睡眠不足会使人们更有可能生病。故选B。 【29题详解】 细节理解题。根据文章第二段“Jeffrey Gross, the university science professor who led the research, was not trying to find the relationship between sleep and grades when he handed out smart watches to the 100 students in his chemistry class. Instead, the professor hoped the devices, which track a person’s physical activity, would show a connection between exercise and academic achievement.(Jeffrey Gross是领导这项研究的大学理科教授,当他把智能手表分发给自己化学课上的100名学生时,他并不是试图去探究睡眠与成绩之间的关系。相反,这位教授希望这些能追踪人的身体活动的设备,能显示出运动与学业成绩之间的联系。)”可知,Jeffrey Gross教授给化学课上的100名学生发放智能手表时,并不是试图寻找睡眠和成绩之间的关系。相反,他希望这些能追踪人体活动的设备可以显示出运动和学业成绩之间的联系。也就是说,他最初的意图是找出运动和学业成绩之间的联系。故选D。 【30题详解】 细节理解题。根据文章最后一段“Perhaps the most interesting was the huge impact that small differences in sleep patterns had on the students’ grades. The overall course grades for students averaging six and a half hours of sleep each night were 25% lower than students who averaged just one hour more sleep. Similarly, students who varied their bedtime by even one hour each night had grades that dropped 45% below those with more regular bedtimes.(或许最有趣的是睡眠模式上的微小差异对学生成绩产生的巨大影响。 C。 D Artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly becoming a valuable tool in language learning, providing new ways to support learners. From beginners to advanced learners, AI is more likely to completely change how language content is created, delivered and learned. AI-powered tools offer learners a judgment-free environment where they can practice language skills — speaking, listening, or writing — without fear of feeling awkward. Learners can receive quick corrections, allowing them to experiment, make mistakes and improve step by step. For many years, AI systems have been able to analyze common mistakes or areas of difficulty, tracking a learner’s progress over time. AI tools like Open Al’s GPT models now also allow for targeted interventions and individual instruction based on these areas of chance, helping learners improve in the topics where they struggle the most. AI can introduce learners to a wide variety of dialogue settings and cultural contexts. This improves their ability to adapt their language use to different situations, which is necessary for making real-world language fluent. Just as every coin has two sides, AI is no exception. Although AI can create sentences that follow grammar rules, it sometimes fails to grasp the small cultural and context details that are important for truly learning a language. It might not express sayings, and jokes specific to certain cultures well. Many AI models find it difficult to change the language level fit for beginners right away. Most AI language learning tools need a lot of directions to keep the content suitable. Even with this help, there’s a good chance that the materials might be too hard or too easy, making it tough for learners to get full use of them effectively. One key factor of language learning is getting over the worries or fear of speaking with others in real-life situations. AI tools are helpful, but they cannot fully copy the pressure that comes with real-time interactions with other human speakers, which is necessary for building confidence. 32. What is a primary benefit of AI in language learning? A. It offers a worry-free practice environment. B. It can perfect language skills related to culture. C. It can give suitable contents for beginners at once. D. It provides a system targeted for all mistakes’ analysis. 33. What does the underlined phrase “targeted interventions” in the third paragraph mean? A. Strict restrictions. B. General functions. C. Specialized assistance. D. Traditional methods. 34. Why are AI tools not enough for building learners’ confidence in speaking? A. They don’t provide corrections in time. B. They can’t make grammatical sentences. C. They lack communication settings to practice. D. They can’t copy real-life stress from interactions. 35. What is the author’s attitude towards AI in language learning? A. Doubtful. B. Objective. C. In the past few months, her stable life had been turned upside down when her father was laid off from his job. This brought about a series of events, including her parents losing their beautiful Victorian home and forcing their family into a fifteen-foot trailer(拖车)they had previously only used for weekend camping trips. Life in the trailer was tough, yet it was filled with warmth. Though her family possessed little, their door was never closed to those who had even less. Never will she forget the first time they squeezed onto the tiny couch(长沙发)together, which doubled as her parents’ bed at night. One evening, as her mother was checking the last food they had, her voice trembled, “We don’t have enough food to last the week.” Hearing this, Charlotte was seized by a sense of sadness, like a huge stone settled in her heart. Moments later, her mother rose to prepare the modest chicken dinner. Charlotte wandered outside where her dad was working on their broken-down truck. Just then, a middle-aged man with dirty clothes emerged from a winding path. Coming right up to them, the man whispered in hesitation with a mix of shame and hope, “I... I am a hiker and have got lost. I’m hungry and wondering if you have any food to spare.” Charlotte’s heart tightened, countless thoughts racing in her mind. They barely had enough for themselves. The chicken for dinner wouldn’t even fill three plates. “But the man seems to be in greater need of food than we do,” she thought to herself. “Of course!” The words escaped Charlotte before she even realized it. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Days later, the hiker returned with a big bag. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】One possible version: “Of course!” The words escaped Charlotte before she even realized it. She turned to her dad, who nodded without hesitation. With light steps, Charlotte went inside and told her mum. They invited the man to have dinner together and Charlotte’s mother divided the chicken into four portions instead of three, the biggest share for him. The man’s face lit up with gratitude as he took a bite, “The most delicious chicken in my life.” As they ate together in the trailer, laughter bubbled up—stories were shared, and for a moment, the bitterness of their life was left behind. After dinner, her father showed the hiker the right way. He thanked them repeatedly and hit the road. Days later, the hiker returned with a big bag. Inside the bag were some canned foods, fresh bread and even a small bag of candies for Charlotte. “I couldn’t forget your kindness,” he explained gratefully. Charlotte hugged him, her eyes sparkling, while her father clapped him on the back like an old friend. That evening, they feasted on a proper meal, a warm atmosphere flowing in the trailer, as if hope itself knocked on their door. The hiker’s gesture not only filled their stomachs but also warmed their hearts. It was a reminder that even in the darkest times, kindness has a way of circling back when least expected. 词汇激活 行为类 ①展示:show/display ②拥抱:hug/embrace ③解释:explain/ make an explanation 情绪类 ①感激:gratitude/ thankfulness ②善意:kindness/benevolence 【点睛】【高分句型1】She turned to her dad, who nodded without hesitation.(运用了who引导的定语从句) 【高分句型2】As they ate together in the trailer, laughter bubbled up—stories were shared, and for a moment, the bitterness of their life was left behind.(运用了as引导的状语从句) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $第一节听下面5段对话。 Hey, forgot to tell you, joe and anna are moving to paris. really. One of the things that concern me most is the future of the alaska environment. About twenty years ago, before going on, some wilderness research I visited encourage. The largest city in IT was a small city of forty thousand people, surrounded by a quiet wilderness. When I made a recent trip there, I found amazing changes. Encourage now has one hundred and eight thousand people. There are two buildings, shopping centres and all the crowds and traffic jam. The forests and mountains are still nearby, but they seem so small compared to the city's great size. For today's lecture, i've brought along many of the pictures I usually show in my environmental science classes in my own university. First, i'll show you some pictures of alaska. Well in this, as IT is today, then i'd like to outline my specific suggestions. Good afternoon. B To prove her career success. The Painful High School Years C Sleep, considered a luxury by many, is essential for a person’s health. D Artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly becoming a valuable tool in language learning, providing new ways to support learners. For many years AI systems have been able to analyze common mistakes or areas of difficulty, tracking a learner’s progress over time. A. Doubtful. B. Objective. C. Positive. D. Unconcerned. April 22 is International Earth Day, a date that stresses the importance of rethinking our relationship with natural resources. With so much over-consumption and environmental damage, tourism also needs to be rethought. According to the World Travel and Tourism Council, the tourism industry is responsible for around 8% of global greenhouse gas emissions. ___36___. It is in this context that sustainable ecotourism stands out. Here are four positive impacts of ecotourism: ___37___ Ecotourism encourages the preservation of natural areas by generating economic value associated with conservation. Destinations that previously faced deforestation, hunting and illegal mining now see the protection of biodiversity as an ongoing and legitimate source of income. Strengthening local communities through inclusive employment By employing guides, small producers and owners of family-run inns, ecotourism distributes income to many different people. ___38___ Offering environmental education via immersive experiences ___39___ Visitors get to know the environmental challenges of each region and return home more aware of their role as citizens. Reconnecting with the planet by embracing mindful trips More than just a style of travel, ecotourism invites us to change our mentality: to get out of the consumption mode and into a more attentive rhythm, more sensitive to the rhythms of the earth. To sum up, this type of tourism invites reconnection. ___40___. In times of climate emergency, water scarcity and accelerated degradation of ecosystems, this reconnection is no longer an individual choice. It is a collective need, urgent and unavoidable. A. Conserving biodiversity via economic benefits B. This model helps people stay in their local areas C. Boosting local economy through tourist activities D. Ecotourism trips bring magical benefits to the planet E. However, tourism, if well planned, can be part of the solution F. This reconnection, in practice, bridges people with nature and cultural roots G. Ecotourism trips offer direct learning experiences with nature and local knowledge 第三部分 语言运用(共两节,满分30分) 第一节(共15小题;每小题1分,满分15分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后各题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中,选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。 As the music played, we returned to our positions. Moments later her mother rose to prepare the modest chicken dinner. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
