1.Earth is only home to everyone.Let’s try to make it greener world to live in.
A.a;a B.the;a C.a;the D.the;the
2.There ______a number of books in our school library. The number of books________getting larger than last year.
A.is, is B.is, are C.are, are D.are, is
a number of books为复数形式,故第一空用are;the number of表示“……的数量”做主语时,谓语动词用单数,故第二空用is。故选D。
3.To people’s great surprise, the old building still after the strong earthquake.
A.refused B.remained C.required D.reviewed
4.—Mary was heard ________ then. What happened?
—John was telling a joke.
A.to cry B.to laugh C.crying D.laughing
根据“Mary was heard...then.”和“John was telling a joke.”可知,本空表示当时正在发生的动作,应排除A、B,hear sb doing“听见某人正在做某事”,此处是被动语态;根据“John was telling a joke.”
5.I was told that Shanghai ________ in the east of China.
A.lies B.is lying C.lied D.lie
【答案】A
故选A。
6.The young man had some bad fish yesterday. __________, he felt sick this morning.
A.Because B.Because of C.As a result D.As a result of
7.—What shall we do this weekend?
—You can go swimming, hiking, or ________ else you enjoy doing.
A.anything B.nobody C.everything D.somebody
【答案】A
根据“You can go swimming, hiking, or...else you enjoy doing.” 故选A。
8.After running a 1000-metre race, he was________.
A.out of breathe B.breathed heavily
C.took a deep breath D.out of breath
out of breathe错误表达;breathed heavily呼吸沉重;took a deep breath深呼吸;out of breath气喘吁吁, 喘不过气来,上气不接下气。
9.In the film Murder in a Country House, a doctor is found________in the house, so the film is ________horror and mysteries.
A.dying; fill of B.dead; full of
C.dead; full with D.die; filled with

根据电影名“Murder in a Country House”可知,发生了凶杀案,所以人是死掉的,用形容词dead做宾语补足语;be filled with/be full of是固定短语。

—Not until the work ________ tomorrow.
A.will be finished B.is finished
C.will finish D.has finished
【答案】B

A.quite B.very C.so D.such
【答案】C

—Pretty well. of them enjoys working with the local students.
A.Both B.All C.Each D.Any

The expression, “everybody’s doing it,” is very much at the center of peer pressure It is a social influence applied on an individual in order to get that person to act or believe in a 16 way as a larger group. This 17 can be negative or positive, and can exist in both large and small groups.
People are social creatures by nature, and so it is hardly 18 that some part of their self-respect comes from the approval (认可) of others. This explains why the approval of peers, and the fear of 19 , is such a powerful force in many people’s lives. This instinct (本能) drives people to dress one way at home and another way at work, or to answer a simple “fine” when a stranger asks “how are you?” 20 it is not necessarily true.
For certain individuals, 21 for social acceptance is so important that it becomes an addiction (上瘾): in order to satisfy the desire (渴望), they may go too far and 22 their sense of right and wrong. Some young people may feel forced to use drugs, or join gangs (帮派) that 23 criminal behavior. Some adults may sometimes end up in debt (负债) because they are unable to hold back the desire to buy a house or car that they can’t afford in order to 24 the peers.
25 , peer pressure is not always negative. A student whose friends do well in 26 may be motivated to work harder and get good grades. Players on a sports team may feel driven to play harder in order to help the team win. This type of influence can also get a friend off drugs, or to help an adult develop a good habit or drop a bad one.
Although peer pressure is sometimes quite 27 , some people may not even notice that it is affecting his or her behavior. For this reason, when making important decisions, such as choosing a career path or deciding on a major investment, simply going with an instinct is 28 . Instead, people should seriously consider 29 they feel attracted to taking a certain action. Is it because of their own values, long-term goals, or personal interests? They should also consider whether the real 30 behind their action is simply that everyone else is doing the same thing. Taking the time to think and make a wiser decision can lead to a proper and fulfilling life.

When the famous scientist Albert Einstein was 16 years old, he imagined himself riding alongside a beam (束) of light. He used this picture in mind to help him when thinking about the “theory of relativity (相对论)”. “Imagination is more important than knowledge,” said Einstein.
Daydreaming, called “thought experiments” by Einstein, can make you have wild imaginings, like flying around in space. It lets your mind walk slowly around ideas, memories and experiences that aren’t happening right now. It means thinking ahead to a holiday or remembering how much you enjoyed a birthday party, According to China’s health authorities (权威机构), daydreaming for a while each day can improve your health and creativity.
Disappearing into a daydream lets your mind have a rest when things are difficult. It helps you deal with worries and fears. For example, imagining how you’re going to speak up in class is like practicing the scene (场景) in your head, which can make you feel calmer. Daydreaming also inspires (激发) creativity and lets you find new worlds where there are no limits to what you can do or who you are. Guo Qiang, an expert in thoughts and feelings, thinks we should all make time to daydream. “Thinking for pleasure can be a powerful tool to shape our feelings.” he said.
However, try not to let your mind be absent when you need to focus (聚焦) in class or cross the road. Instead, find a time when you don’t have to focus on anything, like going for a walk or brushing your teeth. Guo advises you can start by focusing on a happy memory or imagining a future success, like scoring a goal in the World Cup.
To inspire creativity, think about interesting ideas and see where your mind takes you. Research shows that people often come up with more solutions to problems after they’ve taken a break. So next time you have difficulty with homework, stop for a moment and see where your daydreams take you.
34.Which writing skill is used in paragraph 1?
A.Giving an example. B.Raising a question.
C.Listing numbers. D.Giving reasons.

A.Running away from the hard time. B.Looking for new worlds.

This time, the son said to his father in a low and cold tone, “It’s a crow, a crow.”
After a moment, the father yet again asked his son for the fourth time, “What is this?”
This time his son shouted at his father, “Why do you keep asking me the same question again and again? I have told you already, ‘IT IS A CROW’. Are you not able to understand this?”
A minute later the father went to his room and came back with a diary, which he had kept since his son was born. On opening a page, he asked his son to read that page.
Today my little son aged three was sitting with me on the sofa when a crow suddenly landed on the window edge. My son asked me 23 times what it was, and I replied him 23 times that it was a crow. I hugged him lovingly each time he asked me the same question. I didn’t at all feel angry, but instead felt affection for my son.
If your parents reach old age, do not look at them as a burden, but speak to them gently, and be kind to them. From today say this aloud, “I want to see my parents happy forever. They have cared for me ever since I was a little child. They have always showered me with love. I will take care of my old parents in the best way no matter how they behave.”

根据“If your parents reach old age, do not look at them as a burden, but speak to them gently, and be kind to them.”
根据“I hugged him lovingly each time he asked me the same question. I didn’t at all feel angry, but instead felt affection for my son.”
根据“An 80-year-old man was sitting on the sofa in his house along with his 45-year-old son.”及“Today my little son aged three was sitting with me on the sofa”可知,父亲现年80岁,父亲在儿子3岁时写下日记,因此该日记应是在父亲38岁时写的。故选C。
根据“On opening a page, he asked his son to read that page.”

Humans are getting away from the nature gradually because of the developing technology. But now Digital Technology is offering us an opportunity to listen to the sounds in the nature in powerful ways, making us get closer to the worlds of animals and plants.
All around the nature, there are sounds that we struggle to pick up and understand. Elephants, for example, communicate with each other using infrasound, a sound far below our human hearing range. Coral in the ocean also communicates with each other through sound waves, with one purpose of attracting baby coral to areas where it can successfully grow. This is a shocking fact as coral doesn’t have any ears!
To pick up sounds humans are normally unable to hear, scientists have placed listening devices in these environments. Researchers have attached (连接) tiny microphones to honeybees and turtles, and stuck listening posts that can receive different sound waves from coral reefs and trees. These devices are controlled by computers and networked with digital sensors and satellites. When interconnected, these digital devices work like a hearing aid: enabling humans to observe and record nature’s sounds beyond the limits of our own listening ability. After the sounds are recorded, AI is then able to determine their meanings.
With this technology, humans can not only understand the animals, but also communicate back to them. For example, a team of researchers in Germany decoded the honeybees’ behavior with AI. Then they taught tiny robots how to do the honeybee dance. Using these dancing machines, the scientists were able to order the honeybees to stop moving, and to communicate where to fly to collect a specific nectar. In addition to the possibility of speaking with animals, the research could also be used to create a form of healing for animals and plants. That’s to say, in the near future, scientists might be able to get coral to grow in certain areas by playing “healthy reef” sounds, which could help some of the damage we have caused to become healthy again.
Now, Digital Technology provides a new way for humans to listen to the lively sounds all around us. The dream of allowing humans to communicate with different animals and plants throughout the nature is being on its way.
42.Which of the following is NOT true about listening devices?
A.AI can help to explain the meanings of nature’s sounds.
B.The hearing aid collects the sounds from the animals or plants.
C.Scientists need to connect the devices with computers and networks.
D.The devices can record nature’s sounds beyond people’s listening ability.
43.Which is the right order to pick up the sounds from the nature for scientists?
a. Analyze the meanings with the help of AI.
b. Place listening devices into the nature world.
c. Collect the sounds from the animals or plants.
d. Connect the devices with computers and networks.
A.c→d→b→a B.b→c→d→a C.c→b→a→d D.b→d→c →a
44.What can you infer from the last paragraph?
A.Scientists are likely to discover a new way of recording.
B.Humans will have better communication with the nature.
C.It’s possible for people to dance with the honeybee together.
D.Digital Technology can be used to communicate with anything.
45.What is the writer’s main purpose in writing this passage?
A.To discuss how to control listening devices.
B.To compare different ways for communication.
C.To introduce a technology to get closer to the nature.
D.To suggest how to improve people’s listening ability.

What’s the first thing that comes into your mind when you think of wheat straw (稻草)? Most people would probably see it as a pile of waste in a farmer’s field. However, Wu Cui, an intangible cultural inheritor (非遗传承人), can turn the straw into beautiful artworks.
The earliest straw-weaving (编织) works were found at Hemudu Cultural Ruins (遗迹), a Neolithic cultural site in Zhejiang Province. This discovery means a lot to Chinese traditional culture. The Book of Rites also records that there were already mats (垫子) made of grass and professional straw-weaving craftsmen (工匠) during the Zhou Dynasty.
Straw weaving is a method of making daily items or artworks. It was listed as a national intangible cultural heritage in 2008.
Wu explains the process of straw weaving: choosing from materials is the first step of a process that may take several weeks, or even months to complete. You need to draw the piece on paper, which requires drawing skills. Next comes weaving, shaping and preserving of the work. Even by finishing that process, it does not mean that you will always create a good piece of work, and the hardest part is to make it lifelike.
In the past, straw items could be found almost in every family in the countryside, in the form of straw hats and straw shoes, because they were practical in everyday life. But with the development of industry, many of these products are made in factories. This makes people gain little money, and there are only about 100 people joining in the work across the country.
Wu says to a news reporter that more craftsmen should work together to make a difference to the spread of the traditional culture. Many hands make light work.

I am really proud that I have grown up and achieved a lot in the past three years. As a teenager, I think the most important thing that we should do is to make ourselves better persons. In order to be a better one, the following three aspects should be taken into consideration.
First of all, I do my best to improve my study. I manage my time reasonably. I go over what I have learned in time after class. Moreover, I always listen to the teachers and take notes carefully in class. Secondly, good interpersonal relationship is also very important for us. I try to communicate with my classmates and teachers sincerely. I usually listen to my friends patiently and share my feelings and thoughts with them. In addition, I also encourage and help my friends when they meet difficulties. Last but not the least, I am willing to take part in voluntary activities. I not only plant trees every year to make my contribution to bringing preen to our environment but also go to the old people’s home to visit and chat with the elderly.
I hope my experiences are of some value to you. And I do believe you can become better and have a promising future.
Thank you for your listening!

35.What does Guo Qiang first advise?
A.Running away from the hard time. B.Looking for new worlds.
C.Finding time to imagine. D.Focusing on success.
36.What is mentioned in paragraph 4?
A.The steps to daydream. B.The things to daydream of.
C.The reasons for daydreaming. D.The meanings of daydreaming.
37.Daydreaming is talked about ________.
A.to remind people to have a mind break
B.to find solutions to homework problems
C.to advise living at the moment
D.to show a science research result

An 80-year-old man was sitting on the sofa in his house along with his 45-year-old son. Suddenly a crow (乌鸦) landed on their window.
The father asked his son, “What is that?”
The son replied, “That is a crow.”
After a few minutes, the father asked his son for the second time, “What is this?”
The son said, “Father, I told you just now. It’s a crow.”
After a little while, the father asked his son the same question for the third time, “What is this?”

56.What may come into most people’s mind when thinking of wheat straw?
57.Where were the earliest straw-weaving works found?
58.How long may it take to choose from materials?
59.What is the hardest part of straw weaving?
60.What other advice would you give to craftsmen to spread the traditional culture?

The son said, “Father, I told you just now. It’s a crow.”
