Passage 1
In Britain all children have to go to school between the ages of 5 and 16. In the US children must go to school from the age of 6 to the ages between 14 and 16, depending on the state they live in.
Subjects
In England and Wales the subjects taught in schools are laid down by the National Curriculum, which was introduced in 1988 and sets out in detail the subjects that children should study and the levels of achievement they should reach by the ages of 7,11,14, and 16, when they are tested. The National Curriculum does not apply to Scotland, where each school decides what subjects it will teach.
Examinations
At 16, students in England and Wales take GCSE examinations. These examinations are taken by students of all levels of ability in any of a range of subjects, and may involve a final examination, an assessment of work done during the two-year course, or both of these things. At 18 some students take A-level examinations, usually in no more than three subjects. It is necessary to have A levels in order to go to university.
In Scotland students take the SCE examinations. A year later, they can take examinations called Highers, after which they can either go straight to a university or spend a further year at school and take the Certificate of Sixth Year Studies. In Scotland the university system is different from that in England and Wales. Courses usually last four years rather than three, and students study a large number of subjects as part of their degree.
1. In which parts of the world are the subjects taught only decided by the nation?
A. England and Wales. B. England and Scotland.
C. US and Britain. D. Wales and Scotland.
2. Which of the following has nothing to do with students in Scotland?
A. GCSE. B. SCE.
C. Highers. D. The Certificate of Sixth Year Studies.
3. Which of the following is TRUE?
A. In the US, only local government can decide the subjects.
B. In Scotland, students can take either the SCE examinations or the Certificate of Sixth Year Studies.
C. In England and Wales, one cannot go to university without A levels.
D. As for a 16-year-old student in England and Wales, he has to take both GCSE examinations and a final examination.
Passage 2
(2025-2026学年河北省河北定州中学高一上学期第一次月考英语试题)It was a September day, and as usual, the halls of Pine High School were filled with excitement. Students of all grades were rushing around. But for one student, today was unlike any other day. Today was the first day of high school for a freshman, Jamie. Jamie had always been a bit of a shy kid, but she had always loved her studies. She made up her mind to make the most of her high school years, but she knew that it wouldn’t be easy.
As she walked down the hallways, Jamie couldn’t help but feel worried. The older students seemed so confident, while she felt small and unimportant. But Jamie was determined to succeed, no matter what challenges came her way.
It wasn’t long before Jamie was faced with a challenge. In her first week of school, she was assigned (分派) a project that required a lot of research and planning. Jamie tried her best, but she soon realized that she was in over her head As she struggled to complete the project, Jamie began to doubt (怀疑) herself. She wondered if she was cut out for high school. But then, something great happened.
Jamie’s classmates began to notice how hard she was working, and they started to offer her help and support. They gave her advice on how to manage her time better, and they shared their tips for getting through assignments. With their help, Jamie was able to complete the project on time and with great success.
From that day on, Jamie realized that high school was not a challenge to be faced alone. With the help and support of her classmates, she was able to deal with any difficulty that came her way. And as she grew more confident in herself and her abilities, she knew that she was destined (注定) for great things.

Passage 3
(2025-2026学年宁夏吴忠中学高一上学期第一次段考英语试卷)Going from middle school to high school can be difficult, as students are faced with new academic(学业的) and social challenges. Before the first day of high school, there are things every soon-to-be high school freshman and their families should know.
People who have a fixed mindset(思维倾向) believe that they are born to be great or weak. On the other hand, people that have a growth mindset believe that their greatness or weakness is because of their own actions. I totally agree that students should have a growth mindset. I don’t expect any student to move from just passing a subject to an A+. It’s going to take time and focused effort; just keep working on it.
Parents should prepare students to fight the battle “on the pillow” and “in the kitchen”. When I say “pillow” I mean sleep. Not having enough sleep can have some surprising effects on students, including improper behavior, anxiety and poor grades. The second weapon(武器) is eating healthy and balanced meals. Studies show that students who eat nutritious meals and who exercise 60 minutes a day remain more attentive during the school day and experience improved academic achievement and grades. This last “secret” weapon is not to have over-scheduled (安排过度的) time. Make sure students know how to set realistic plans and how to say no to tasks and activities that aren’t important to them.
A lot of students know each other from primary and middle school. They are in their “comfort zones”, feeling they have a sense of control over and expectation of their relationships. But come the first real day of high school, that will all change. The reason I encourage high school freshmen to step out of their comfort zones, though often scary, is that comfort zones get boring and there are many kinds of people to get to know. Let’s encourage them to get involved, have fun and play.
8. Which of the following represents(代表) a fixed mindset?
A. I’m at the starting point of my ability. B. My mother is not good at chemistry either.
C. I should start studying a little earlier next time. D. It’s okay if I fail; at least I’ve learned something.
9. What might the author encourage parents to do?
A. To prepare healthy meals for their kids.
B. To praise their kids when they do well in school.
C. To take their kids to visit their grandparents often.
D. To buy soft pillows for their kids to have a good rest.
10. What is the third weapon mainly about?
A. Enjoying good health. B. Owning the ability to say no.
C. Balancing schoolwork and play. D. Developing time management skills.
11. Which one is the best title of the passage?
A. Making friends in High School
B. Academic Challenges in High School
C. Differences between Middle School and High School
D. Preparations for High School: What you need to know
Passage 4
(2024~2025学年福建仙游第一中学高一上学期期末考英语试题)The sound of birds chirping fills the air as students at Riverview Middle School file into their outdoor classroom. This open-air space, surrounded by trees and flower beds, is part of a growing trend to take learning beyond four walls.
Educators here say outdoor classes have noticeable benefits. Science lessons on ecosystems are more vivid when taught among actual plants and insects. Math students practice measuring by calculating the height of trees or the area of garden beds. Even literature classes have moved outside, with poetry readings under the oak tree becoming a favorite activity.
“Students are more engaged when they’re not stuck at desks,” says principal Mr. Hernandez. “We’ve seen improvements in focus and attendance since starting the program.” Parents have noticed changes too. One mother reported, “My daughter used to hate science, but now she comes home talking about the frogs she observed in the pond behind the school.”
There are challenges, of course. Bad weather can disrupt plans, and some lessons still require indoor labs. But the school has adapted by keeping a flexible schedule and investing in weatherproof teaching tools.
12. What is a growing trend mentioned in the passage?
A. Using more technology in classrooms.
B. Taking learning outside of traditional classrooms.
C. Reducing the number of science lessons.
D. Holding all classes in large auditoriums.
13. How do students practice math outdoors?
A. By counting birds in the trees.
B. By calculating tree heights and garden areas.
C. By measuring the length of the school building.
D. By keeping track of weather temperatures.
14. What benefit of outdoor classes is mentioned?
A. Students score higher on standardized tests.
B. Students are more engaged in their lessons.
C. Students need less sleep to stay focused.
D. Students spend more time on homework.
15. What challenge do outdoor classes face?
A. Lack of interest from students.
B. High cost of outdoor equipment.
C. Disruptions due to bad weather.
D. Difficulty in finding qualified teachers.
Passage 5
After entering high school, you may find there are many clubs at your school. You may think you’re too busy to join one. But as a former high school student, I can tell you joining a school club can greatly profit you.
Your old friends may have left you after entering high school. And it means you need to meet new people. Joining a club allows you to talk with others and find those who have similar interests as you. Based on my experience, I have met some of my best friends from club activities which opened up many new doors for me.
Another really nice thing about joining a club is that it looks really good on your college applications (申请书). Trying new things is something that looks really good on any application. Being outgoing is considered a very good quality, which shows that you are determined and willing to put yourself out there and best of all try new things. What’s more, it can help you develop skills that can serve you during future college interviews.
Besides, joining a club can make students use their free time wisely. Most teens go to schools, then go back home and spend the rest of the day in front of a screen. Teens are also very likely to fall into the wrong crowd, which could lead to some bad results. Clubs are good places to spend time with good people to fall back on.
The most important reason why you should join a club is the long-term benefits(益处) it brings. The classroom isn’t the only learning environment in a school. The skills you learn in clubs are necessary ones that can be used in everyday life, which I think is the final goal of joining a club. Things such as meeting and speaking to new people, making the most of time, and being organized are those you will meet every single day of your life, but you can learn all of them in clubs.
So if you haven’t joined a school club yet, you know what you should do now.
16. Which of the following can best replace the underlined word “profit” in paragraph 1?
A. Cheer up. B. Go against. C. Make use of. D. Be good for.
17. What do colleges think highly of according to the text?
A. The number of clubs you have joined. B. The strong relationships you have built.
C. The bright personality you have developed. D. The similar interests you share with other students.
18. What is the best title for the text?
A. Why Should You Join a Club? B. What Club Should You Join?
C. How Can You Join a Club You Like? D. Should You Join a Second Club?
19. In which section of a magazine may this text appear?
A. Health. B. School life. C. Culture. D. Social work.

Passage 1
(2025-2026学年广东省湛江市雷州市第二中学高一上学期开学英语试题)It was very dark outside. I heated the food in the kitchen again, but my dad still didn’t come back from the forest. He worked as a forest ranger(护林员). In the morning, he told me he would go to check the new small trees and that I didn’t need to wait for him for dinner. But now, the wind was blowing hard and making a loud noise, like an animal. I stood at the door and called him, but he didn’t answer.
“I can’t wait any longer,” I thought. I took a flashlight from the corner and went out. The light showed me the way, but the shadows of the trees looked scary, like claws. I held the flashlight more tightly. I was worried that Dad might be lost or in trouble, so I walked into the forest slowly.
The wind blew harder, and the leaves made noise. I was scared and kept looking back, but I saw nothing. The flashlight was dying. Just then, I heard someone shout, “Xiaoyu? Is that you?”
It was Dad! I shouted, “Dad! I’m here!” I saw the light move, and then I saw his orange ranger clothes. I ran to him and jumped into his arms. I could smell the pine on him, and I almost cried. “Son, why are you here?” Dad asked. Dad’s hands were cold, but he hugged me hard. “My phone stopped working. Passage 2
(2025-2026学年湖北省高级高中高一上学期阶段性诊断考英语试题)Language lets us share our feelings, make connections, and even hand down family traditions like recipes and songs from generation to generation. But what about family members who don’t speak the same language?
A “mother language” is defined as the first language that a child learns at home. So you’d think that means your mother language is by default your strongest, most comfortable language, right? Wrong. While you might think learning a language is like riding a bicycle, something you never forget how to do, it’s easy to lose language fluency without practice.
Studies show that people who learn a heritage language (that is, one connected to their family history, whether they grew up speaking it or not) experience improved self-esteem(自尊) and safety in their identities(身份). Researchers also mention that reconnecting with and understanding the family history and community is the driving force behind heritage language learning.
Relearning a mother language or trying out a heritage language as a beginner might feel overwhelming at first, but the results can be incredibly rewarding. Jenny Liao’s article, Forgetting My First Language, details how her Cantonese slowly became rusty(荒疏的) after years of living away from home. Eventually, weekly phone calls with her parents only became possible through translation apps. The inability to communicate fluently had made their relationship shallow. Resolving to close these gaps, Liao threw herself into practicing Cantonese. She forced herself into uncomfortable Cantonese conversations whenever possible in stores and restaurants. Before long, she found she could have deeper conversations with her parents. Their relationship grew closer, even though her Cantonese only improved moderately. It’s a demonstration of the impressive power of language to bring families together.
Learning or relearning a heritage language can sound pretty intimidating at first. But the hard work invested proves to be rewarding and worthwhile. What could be a stronger personal connection than the connection with family heritage?
5. What is the author’s attitude to the thought “mother language is the strongest”?
A. Uncaring. B. Supportive. C. Concerned. D. Opposite.
6. What is the advantage of learning a heritage language according to studies?
A. Improved job skills. B. Heightened sense of belonging.
C. Sharpened communication skills. D. Broadened understanding of different opinions.
7. How is paragraph 4 developed?
A. By analyzing the cause. B. By offering an example.
C. By making a comparison. D. By explaining the data.
8. Which can replace the underlined word “intimidating” in the last paragraph?
A. Confusing. B. Surprising. C. Frightening. D. Relaxing.
Passage 3
(2025-2026学年山西省忻州市第一中学校高一上学期开学考试英语试题)After his father was rushed to hospital for an operation, 18-year-old Yanatha Desouvre began to panic. So he did the one thing he knew would calm himself down — writing.
“I’m so scared,” he started. “I don’t know what I’ll do if I lose my dad.” Over the next few weeks, Desouvre filled several notebooks writing about his worry as well as his happy memories with his dad — the jokes they’d shared, the basketball games they’d watched and so on. Sometimes Desouvre cried as he wrote. Often he laughed. “Writing allowed me to face my fear and my pen was a tool to reduce the pain,” says Desouvre.
He is not alone. A lot of research shows benefits of writing about a painful experience or difficult situation in a manner that psychologists refer to as “expressive writing”. They say it can strengthen the immune (免疫) system, help reduce pain, and improve the mood, sleep and memory.
When asked about his first writing, Desouvre says it was when he was 12, he survived a car crash in Brooklyn. After it he had nightmares about it over the years, he started writing about it, and then kept going. It helped. He says, “You can’t keep things bottled up, and it will make you sick.”
Now he thinks of his expressive writing as a recording of what happened and what he’s learned. He always starts with “the tough stuff” and then writes about how he’s grown from the experience. Last year, he wrote in a notebook, recording the stress of his study. But he’s also written about what he has gained: being stronger. “My expressive writing gave me the courage to face my fears,” Desouvre says. “And I believe it has helped me discover the hope I need to heal.”
9. What happened to Desouvre when his father was sent to hospital?
A. He was so frightened that he did nothing.

10. What benefit can a person get from expressive writing?
A. A moody state. B. A good manner.
C. A better memory. D. A pain-free life.
11. Why did Desouvre begin his first writing?

B. To become a famous writer.
C. To keep his secret of being sick.
D. To get rid of a terrible experience.

C. A great tool to deal with difficult problems.
D. A good way to react properly to an accident.
Passage 4
(2025-2026学年广东省肇庆市第一中学新高一学生学科素养测试英语试题)A quarrel(争吵) at home may result in you falling ill. Don’t laugh — it’s true. Family matters including living habits and even the way we speak have a big effect on our health, doctors say. Wang Xiaoyu, Senior 2 girl from Xichang, Sichuan Province fainted(晕倒) in class when she heard her classmates quarrel at the top of their voices. Quarrels between her parents also put her into a coma. It is because she has depression(抑郁), caused by bad relations at home, doctors explained.
“We don’t get sick or stay well by ourselves,” says Dr. Robert Ferrer from the US. Ferrer shows that family relationships may explain about 25% of health problems in his recent research.
The genes(基因) you get from your family may cause illness. If one of your parents has a heart attack, your risk of being affected(影响) may double. But effects on health are not only written in our DNA. Unrelated people who live under the same roof also get similar problems. Food, lifestyle and environment influence our health, too.
Ferrer’s research also found that if teenagers feel they get little attention from their parents, they are more likely to get sick.
We may never fully understand all the effects that families have on our health. But just as a single person’s problems can have effects on others, a small improvement can have big effects, Ferrer said.
13. Why did Wang Xiaoyu faint in class?
A. Because her classmates had hit her.
B. Because she shouted to her classmates aloud.
C. Because her schoolwork was too hard for her.
D. Because a serious quarrel broke out in her class.
14. The underlined word “coma” in Paragraph 2 probably means ________.
A. excitement B. faint C. tiredness D. sadness
15. Which of the following might Dr. Ferrer agree with?
A. We get sick or stay well by ourselves.
B. What we eat doesn’t matter much to our health.
C. Teenagers need enough attention from parents to keep healthy.
D. Only the genes we get from parents decide our health condition.
16. What does the author want to tell us in the passage?
A. We can’t avoid getting sick.
B. Happy families keep us healthy.
C. Health is important to everyone.
D. We should get on well with others.
Passage 5
(2024-2025学年安徽省亳州市第一中学高一上学期11月考试英语试题A卷)Last night, I found my mother sit with her legs crossed on the sofa, looking through her iPhone with her glasses. This is not the first time I have caught her like this. My father once tapped away on his phone with a serious look on his face, saying the “I’ll be with you shortly” line. I have learned by now that this is to tell me to leave him alone for the next 10 minutes. Although they don’t like admitting it, both of my parents couldn’t go without their phones as I do.
Growing up, we are repeatedly reminded that we are those who prefer to text our friends in the same room rather than make eye contact with them. We are ruining the English language because we like using heart-eyes emojis instead of spelling it out. And even though I can recognize myself as a social media addict, I think parents should at least consider that not only the young generation, but also they like phones.
I get upset when I receive the “I’ll be with you shortly” line from a parent. But at the same time, leaving the room to wait until my father is finished with his “serious business” has now become the norm.
Whether you want to escape your noisy children for a while, or want to stay up late tapping through Twitter, all of these are common. But you should fully understand it. We-your children-know how addictive it can be and how difficult it is to turn it off. So before calling us out and telling us to “put our phones away at the table” or even worse, saying how damaging social media can be to us, maybe you should lead by example and consider how much time you spend on the phone as well as how this is influencing your children and your relationship with them. Maybe in this way we can work on our addiction together.
17. What can we learn about the author’s parents?
A. They’ve been forced to use phones by him. B. They become addicted to phones like him.
C. They like buying their phones online at home. D. They often communicate with him by phone.
18. What is the young generation’s weakness according to Paragraph 2?
A. Giving up ways of communicating directly. B. Failing to express themselves in a right way.
C. Getting angry easily when facing their parents. D. Having fewer chances to learn social skills.
19. What does the underlined word “norm” in Paragraph 3 mean?
A. Formal tradition. B. Accepted behavior.
C. Unexpected decision. D. Unforgettable experience.
20. What advice is given to parents in the last paragraph?
A. Putting the phones away at the table. B. Taking more time to stay with children.
C. Setting a good example in front of children. D. Having good communication with children.

Spend time and energy having fun with your friends and doing activities you enjoy.
Speak up. Try to speak to the girl who’s spreading rumors. Don’t be angry or mean. No shouting. Just say what you want calmly and clearly. After you’ve said what you want, you can simply walk away.

(2024-2025学年内蒙古自治区包头市高一下学期7月期末英语试题)Do phone calls from long-lost friends really excite you? You’re not alone. A new study finds people often underestimate how much their old friends will appreciate receiving a call from them out of the blue. Meanwhile, the friend getting the call places a much higher value on the surprise social interaction. “People are fundamentally social beings and enjoy bonding with others,” explains lead author Peggy Liu, PhD, from the University of Pittsburgh, in a media release. Researchers conducted several experiments involving over 5,900 people to look at what factors play into the amount of appreciation someone feels when others contact them.
In one experiment, researchers asked half of the participants to remember the last time they contacted someone in their social circle after not speaking with them for a really long time. The rest of the group took the opposite approach, remembering when a long-lost friend reached them by phone.
The two groups then had to rate on a seven-point scale (1 meaning “not at all” and 7 meaning “to a great extent”) how much the person receiving this communication appreciated, or felt grateful, or pleased about the message. For people making the call, this meant guessing how much their friend enjoyed hearing from them. For the people receiving the call, they simply had to rate how much they appreciated hearing from a long-lost pal. Results showcase the people reaching their friend significantly underrated their friend’s appreciation when the two groups were compared.
“I sometimes hesitate before contacting people in my social circle for a variety of reasons. When that happens, I think about these research findings and remind myself that other people may also want to reach me and hesitate for the same reasons,” Liu concludes. “I then tell myself that I would appreciate it so much if they reached me and that there is no reason to think they would not similarly appreciate my reaching them.”

Passage 5
Growing up with movies such as “High School Musical” and “Grease”, which presented the ideal (理想的) high school friendships, we sometimes expect a perfect relationship. Indeed, some high school friendships can be real and simple; while still some high school students will meet a friend who causes trouble. With failed friendships come lessons and experiences learned for the future. You will know the influence after you leave high school.
“I was always worried about what my friends thought about me. Sometimes my friends would make fun of what I wore or what I would do. I always tried to get along well with them, but I realized how happy I was once I stopped contacting them after high school,” said Elisha, Class of 2020.
Most teens have not realized the big question when dealing with high school problems. In five years, will this still matter? It is hard looking at the big picture when the problems are in front of you, which is understandable. However, most teens need a moment to reflect(反思) and question if the problem matters in a long time.
Briana, a high school teacher, said, “Now, I am in contact with two high school friends. I think the friendship experiences I had in high school shaped who I am because I learned to be open minded and befriend all kinds of people. I learned to see people for who they are, not what they wear or who they play with. I learned most of all how to be a good friend.”
High school is a small part of your life, but it has a huge influence on who you will become and where you will go. Friendships and relationships help shape who you are, whether they are good or bad. Lessons are brought, and lessons are learned.
17. Why did the author mention the two movies in the first paragraph?
A. To introduce the topic of the passage. B. To explain what a high school friendship is.
C. To attract readers’ attention to these two movies. D. To recommend(推荐) these two movies to readers.
18. What did Elisha think of her “friends”?
A. They made her unhappy. B. They got along well with her.
C. They cared about her behavior. D. They were always worried about her.
19. Why did Briana think her friendship experiences shape her?
A. She learned to play with her friends. B. She learned to make different friends.
C. She learned to shape her friends’ minds. D. She learned to wear just like her friends.
20. How does the author support his arguments in Paragraph 2 and Paragraph 4?
A. By listing data(数据). B. By giving examples.
C. By giving a definition(定义). D. By making comparisons (对比).
Passage 1
(2024-2025学年山东省威海市高一上学期期末考试英语试题)Hi there! My name is Erica. I’ve struggled with my weight since I was eight years old. At my peak, I weighed 320 pounds. Over the years I tried every diet you could think of. I tried personal trainers and fitness camps. The result was always the same — I’ d lose 30-50 pounds; then gain back 40 pounds. I tried C25K (Couch to 5K) so many times because my husband enjoyed running and I tried to like it as well. I hated it and couldn’t help but be reminded of my school days and collecting popsicle(冰棒) sticks for each circle (I was always last).
More time went by and the only activity I could bring myself to do in public was Zumba. February 2017 was a game-changing time in my life. Something clicked after an embarrassing moment that involved burpees(立卧撑) in front of a group at my kids’ school event. The next day I asked my husband if he would join me in figuring out my health. (At this time I was 280 pounds.) After losing 15 pounds, I decided to give C25K one more shot (after more than a dozen failed times).
In June 2017, I ran for five minutes without stopping. By the end of July I ran my first mile. Reaching the mile was huge in my world because I had built up a mile as if it were a marathon. By December 2017, I completed C25K successfully! A few months later I ran my first race, Texas Ragnar relay. After that, I completed my first half marathon. I caught the running bug and by July I hit a huge milestone — 100 pounds down!
After the half marathon, my husband and I were determined to continue running. We kept training for no event in particular. We needed more support for what we were planning — a full marathon.
1. What might C25K be?
A. A fitness course. B. A marathon event.
C. A school game. D. A running program.
2. What made the author determined to restart running?
A. Her husband’s advice. B. Her terrible overall health.
C. Her Zumba class experience. D. Her burpee embarrassment.
3. Which of the following can replace the underlined phrase in paragraph 3?

C. A forum for running stories. D. A speech about running benefits.
Passage 2
(2024-2025学年安徽省铜陵市高一上学期期末质量监测英语试题)“I have a couple of spots for anyone who wants to lose 20 pounds by the holidays! No diets or exercise!” said Katie Hurley, a psychologist who specializes in work with tweens, teens and young adults, “The fact that diet culture all over social media targets grown women is bad enough, but such messaging also reaches tweens and teens. There’s been a noticeable increase in eating disorder, particularly among adolescent girls.”
“My mom is addicted to seeing her Facebook friends losing tons of weight without dieting. Is this real?” The question came from a teen girl who later said she was considering hiring a health coach to help her eat “healthier”. Sadly, the coaching is part of a marketing brand that promotes quick weight loss through calorie restriction (热量限制) and buying costly meal replacements(替代品).
“As we approach the holidays, diet culture is in the air, and it’s certainly on social media,” said Dr. Hina, “It’s so powerful that even if it’s not targeted at teens, they are absorbing it by receiving it continuously or hearing parents talk about it.”
Social media isn’t the only place young people come across harmful messaging about body image and weight loss. Teens are flooded with so-called “healthy eating” content on TV and in popular culture, at school and while engaged in after-school or social activities, at home and in public spaces like malls or grocery stores— and even in restaurants.
Today’s teens are getting the message that “clean eating” results in a better body and increased happiness. Diets cutting out all carbohydrates, dairy products, gluten(谷蛋白), and meat-based proteins are popular among teens. Yet this mindset can cause food anxiety, addictive checking of food labels and dangerous calorie restriction.
The good news is that parents can take an active role in helping teens form healthier eating habits. “It’s important to remember this: parents are influencers, too,” said Hanson, “What we say and do matters to our teens.”
5. Why did the author mention Katie Hurley’ words in Paragragh 1?
A. To explain results. B. To list examples.
C. To raise a theory. D. To introduce a topic.
6. What do we know about today’s young people according to the text?
A. They get power from other teens. B. They may suffer from food anxiety.
C. They employ coaches to go on a diet. D. They are addicted to meal replacements.
7. What may help teens form the healthier eating habits according to Hanson?
A. TV programs. B. Parents’ influence.
C. Restaurants’ service. D. Social activities.
8. What is a suitable title for the text?
A. Body Image and Teenagers B. Why Healthy Eating Is Important
C. How Diet Culture Affects Teenagers D. The Role of Social Media in Teen Health
Passage 3
(2024-2025学年高一英语上学期河南省洛阳市高一上学期11月期中英语试题)Yoga is well known for helping to improve balance and flexibility and for achieving calm and relaxation. But when it comes to weight loss, many people think that other types of exercise, like cardio(心脏) or strength training, will be more helpful. Recent research shows that doing yoga long term not only can help people lose weight but also can strengthen cognitive(认知的) skills to help keep it off. Jessica Unick, a professor at Brown University and The Miriam Hospital’s Weight Control and Diabetes Research Center, led a multiyear study beginning in 2019 that was the first of its kind to examine the possibility of yoga for weight loss maintenance(保持).
In the study, 60 overweight women were in a 12-week behavioral weight loss program in which their calorie intake were limited and they set exercise goals and were taught behavioral strategies for losing weight. After the 12 weeks, they received either 12 weeks of yoga classes or 12 weeks of cooking education classes.
“Our findings, although in an early age, suggest that yoga may help to improve long-term weight loss through improvements in some ways like mindfulness,” Unick says. “For example, if someone experiences improvements in mindfulness, they may be less likely to ‘mindlessly’ eat in response to feelings such as boredom, stress, anger and other situations like the presence of tasty foods, rather than eating only when hungry.”
A 2021 study found no difference in weight loss totals for participants practicing a gentle hatha yoga and a more vigorous vinyasa type of yoga. Most of the studies support the idea that there’s no one style of yoga that’s best for weight loss. “Finally, the best yoga is the practice that fits for you,” says Sherwin. “There are now many styles of yoga that meet you where you are no matter what your size, age, physical challenge or background. Everybody can benefit from a yoga practice.”
9. What’s the feature of Unick’s research?
A. It shows yoga can help achieve calm and relaxation.
B. It proves yoga can help improve balance and flexibility.
C. It examines the ability of yoga for weight loss maintenance.
D. It lasts for more than one year and focus on long-term effects.
10. When will people who achieve mindfulness through yoga take in food?
A. When they’re hungry. B. When they’re angry.
C. When they suffer boredom. D. When they have much stress.
11. What does the underlined word “vigorous” in paragraph 4 mean?
A. Achievable. B. Dynamic. C. Flexible. D. Calm.
12. What’s the result of the study in 2021?
A. Doing yoga is a physical challenge.
B. Hatha yoga is better than vinyasa yoga.
C. Everyone can do yoga whoever they are.
D. All styles of yoga are good for weight loss.
Passage 4
(2024-2025学年江苏省南通市高一下学期6月期末英语试题)In the ever-changing world of health trends, the claim(声称) that green tea is a powerful fat-burner has caught the public’s fancy. Driven by marketers and the spread of information in the media, this idea has become a hot topic. Being the curious cat I am, I reached out to two experts for their thoughts: computer scientist Chris Johnson, who’s really good at seeing through false claims, and physicist Philip Taylor, who bases his ideas on research.
Green tea has a long-standing reputation for health benefits, but the recent craze about its fat-burning abilities has taken it to new heights. Health magazines and online articles are full of stories and supposed scientific evidence suggesting that a few cups of green tea a day can speed up metabolism(新陈代谢) and burn fat effortlessly.
However, Johnson warns that such claims are often not based on scientific research. “The green-tea-for-fat-loss industry is a classic case of people just following the crowd,” he says. Companies are going along with the trend, making grand promises without scientific backing to support them. This over-promotion of green tea as a fat-burner is risky. Consumers, hoping for a quick and easy way to lose weight, may waste their money on ineffective products. When these products fail to deliver, it can lead to disappointment and a loss of trust in the health and wellness industry.
Taylor, though he knows what’s going on, has a more balanced view. From his research, he thinks there might be a little bit of truth to the claim that green tea can aid in fat loss, but only when combined with a balanced diet and regular exercise.
So, does green tea really burn fat? Well, it’s not a simple yes or no. There might be some small effects on your metabolism, but it’s definitely not a magic pill for losing weight. As consumers, we should be careful about these claims and only believe information that’s based on real evidence. In the end, a healthy and lasting way to lose weight involves proper nutrition, regular physical activity, and a realistic understanding of what different foods and drinks can do for our bodies.
13. Why did the author ask two experts for their thoughts?
A. To satisfy his curiosity. B. To find new consumers.
C. To test a theory. D. To join the crowd.
14. Which may Johnson agree with about the green-tea-for-fat-loss industry?
A. It does the trick for people’s health.
B. It lacks reliable evidence to support the claims.
C. It encourages consumers to buy fitness products.
D. It transforms people’s understanding of getting into shape.
15. What can we infer from the last paragraph?
A. Green tea can be made into a magic pill.
B. Green tea is the first choice for weight reduction.
C. Proper diet and exercise contribute to weight loss.
D. It’s easy to tell the weight-loss effect of green tea.
16. Which can be a suitable title for the text?
A. Does Green Tea Really Burn Fat?
B. Does Green Tea Remain a Mystery?
C. Green Tea: A Magic Weight-Loss Solution
D. Green Tea: A New Focus of Scientific Research
Passage 5
Instant noodles are a favorite quick meal when people don’t want to cook. Picture eating them while watching TV on a stormy night — pure comfort! But many believe they’re just junk food that harms health. The truth is, whether they’re unhealthy depends entirely on how you prepare them.
The main issue isn’t the noodles themselves, but the common way people make them: pouring boiling water over dried noodles and adding all the salty seasoning packets. These flavor packets contain high levels of salt and artificial additives (人工添加剂), making this version unbalanced and unhealthy.
Actually, plain instant noodles aren’t terrible. They’re fried during production (which adds some oil and calories), but they fill you up well and provide quick energy when you’re hungry. To make them healthier, cook them properly: boil the noodles first, drain excess starchy(含有淀粉的) water, then use fresh water or broth (肉汤). Crucially, use only half the seasoning packet to reduce salt. Add vegetables like spinach or carrots and protein like an egg or tofu while cooking. This boosts vitamins and protein while cutting sodium (钠). This transforms them into a balanced meal!
So, are instant noodles junk food? If prepared lazily with all the seasoning and no extras, yes. But when cooked with less seasoning plus veggies and protein, they become a decent occasional meal. Remember: the secret is variety. Enjoy them once or twice a week as part of a diverse diet, and they won’t harm your health. They’re far less scary than people think — just upgrade your cooking method!
17. What determines if instant noodles are unhealthy?
A. Their quick cooking time. B. The time of eating.
C. The preparation method. D. The junk food label.
18. What is the major cause of unhealthy instant noodles?
A. The dried noodles. B. The flavor packets.
C. Using boiling water. D. People avoiding cooking.
19. What is the main purpose of the third paragraph?
A. Warn about health dangers. B. Give cooking instructions.
C. Argue noodles are harmless. D. List harmful additives.
20. What is the suitable title for the passage?
A. Instant Noodles: Not All Waste. B. Instant Noodles: How to Cook?
C. Instant Noodles: Eat Sometimes. D. Instant Noodles: What we know?

D. Preparations for High School: What you need to know
B 9. A 10. D 11. D
根据第二段“People who have a fixed mindset (思维倾向) believe that they are born to be great or weak.(拥有固定思维倾向的人认为他们生来就是厉害或弱小的)”可知,固定思维倾向是把人的能力归为与生俱来的。
根据第三段“The second weapon (武器) is eating healthy and balanced meals. Studies show that students who eat nutritious meals and who exercise 60 minutes a day remain more attentive during the school day and experience improved academic achievement and grades.(第二个武器是健康均衡的饮食。研究表明,每天吃营养食物和锻炼60分钟的学生在上学期间注意力更集中,学习成绩和成绩也有所提高)”可知,作者认为健康均衡的饮食很重要,可以帮助孩子们改善学习表现。因此,作者会鼓励家长为他们的孩子准备健康的食物。故选A项。
根据第三段中“This last “secret” weapon is not to have over-scheduled (安排过度的) time. Make sure students know how to set realistic plans and how to say no to tasks and activities that aren’t important to them.(最后这一“秘密”策略就是不要过度安排时间。要确保学生们懂得如何制定切实可行的计划,以及如何拒绝那些对他们而言不重要的任务和活动)”可知,第三个武器主要是培养时间管理技能,合理安排时间。故选D项。
11. 主旨大意题。通读全文,并根据第一段“Going from middle school to high school can be difficult, as students are faced with new academic(学业的) and social challenges.

A. Why Should You Join a Club? B. What Club Should You Join?

I was on my way home.” I put my face against his coat. Listening to his heartbeat, I felt safe again.

B 2. C 3. B 4. A
根据文章第二段“I took a flashlight from the corner and went out. The light showed me the way, but the shadows of the trees looked scary, like claws. I held the flashlight more tightly. I was worried that Dad might be lost or in trouble, so I walked into the forest slowly. (我从角落里拿起手电筒,走了出去。灯光给我指了路,但树的影子看起来很可怕,像爪子一样。我把手电筒握得更紧了。我担心爸爸可能会迷路或遇到麻烦,所以我慢慢地走进森林。)”可知,作者担心爸爸迷路或遇到麻烦,所以拿着手电筒走进森林去寻找爸爸,故选B。
2. 细节理解题。根据文章内容,首先是第二段“I took a flashlight from the corner and went out. (我从角落里拿起手电筒,走了出去。)”即作者拿了手电筒进入森林,对应2;接着第二段,第三段“I was worried that Dad might be lost or in trouble, so I walked into the forest slowly. The wind blew harder, and the leaves made noise. I was scared and kept looking back, but I saw nothing. (我担心爸爸可能会迷路或遇到麻烦,所以我慢慢地走进森林。 风吹得更厉害了,树叶发出声音。我很害怕,一直回头看,但什么也没看到。)”可知作者感到害怕但继续前进,对应3;然后第三段“Just then, I heard someone shout, ‘Xiaoyu? Is that you?’ (就在这时,我听到有人喊:“小宇?是你吗?”)”即作者听到了父亲的呼喊,对应1;最后第四段“I ran to him and jumped into his arms. (我跑向他,跳进他的怀里。)”即作者跑向父亲并拥抱他,对应4。所以正确顺序是2314,故选C。
3. 推理判断题。根据文章第四段“I ran to him and jumped into his arms. I could smell the pine on him, and I almost cried.
故选A。
D. Relaxing.
D 6. B 7. B 8. C
根据第二段中的“So you’d think that means your mother language is by default your strongest, most comfortable language, right? Wrong. While you might think learning a language is like riding a bicycle, something you never forget how to do, it’s easy to lose language fluency without practice.(所以你会认为这意味着你的母语默认是你最强大、最舒服的语言,对吗?错了。虽然你可能认为学习一门语言就像骑自行车,你永远不会忘记怎么做,但如果不练习,很容易失去语言的流畅性)”可知,文章先给出“母语=最牢固语言”这一直觉观点,随后用“Wrong”直接否定,并举例说明不练习就会退化。由此推知,作者对“母语是最强的”这一观点持相反的态度。故选D。
6. 细节理解题。根据第三段中的“Studies show that people who learn a heritage language (that is, one connected to their family history, whether they grew up speaking it or not) experience improved self-esteem (自尊) and safety in their identities (身份).(研究表明,学习一门传统语言(即与家族历史有关的语言,无论他们在成长过程中是否说这种语言)的人会增强自尊,并对自己的身份产生安全感)”可知,研究指出学传统语言会增强自尊,并对自己的身份产生安全感,也就是“更强的归属感”。故选B。
根据第四段中的“Jenny Liao’s article, Forgetting My First Language, details how her Cantonese slowly became rusty (荒疏的) after years of living away from home. Eventually, weekly phone calls with her parents only became possible through translation apps. The inability to communicate fluently had made their relationship shallow. Resolving to close these gaps, Liao threw herself into practicing Cantonese.(Jenny Liao的文章《忘记我的第一语言》详细描述了在离家多年后,她的广东话是如何慢慢生疏的。最终,她只能通过翻译软件才能每周与父母通话。无法流利地交流使他们的关系变得肤浅。为了弥补这些差距,廖女士全身心地投入到广东话的练习中)”及“Before long, she found she could have deeper conversations with her parents. Their relationship grew closer, even though her Cantonese only improved moderately. It’s a demonstration of the impressive power of language to bring families together.(不久之后,她发现自己可以和父母进行更深入的对话。他们的关系越来越亲密,尽管她的广东话水平只是略有提高。这是语言将家庭团结在一起的强大力量的展示)”可知,第四段整段用Jenny Liao重拾广东话、修复亲子关系的实例,说明重新学习母语的价值,属于“举例法”展开。故选B。
8. 词句猜测题。根据最后一段中的“Learning or relearning a heritage language can sound pretty intimidating at first. But the hard work invested proves to be rewarding and worthwhile.(学习或重新学习一门传统语言一开始听起来可能相当intimidating。但事实证明,付出的努力是有回报的,也是值得的)”可知,前后句意存在转折关系,对比选项可知,划线词intimidating与frightening“吓人的”最为接近。故选C。
B. He watched a basketball game with his father.
C. He called his mother to tell his father’s illness.
D. He recorded something to free himself from anxiety.
10. What benefit can a person get from expressive writing?
A. A moody state. B. A good manner.
C. A better memory. D. A pain-free life.
11. Why did Desouvre begin his first writing?
A. To recover from a traffic accident.
B. To become a famous writer.
C. To keep his secret of being sick.
D. To get rid of a terrible experience.
12. What does Desouvre regard expressive writing as?
A. A recording of gains and losses.
B. A willingness to become stronger.
C. A great tool to deal with difficult problems.
D. A good way to react properly to an accident.
D 10. C 11. D 12. A
根据第二段中的““I’m so scared,” he started. “I don’t know what I’ll do if I lose my dad.” Over the next few weeks, Desouvre filled several notebooks writing about his worry as well as his happy memories with his dad — the jokes they’d shared, the basketball games they’d watched and so on.(‘我太害怕了,’他开始写道。‘如果失去爸爸,我不知道该怎么办。’在接下来的几周里,Desouvre写满了几本笔记本,记录下他的担忧以及和爸爸在一起的快乐回忆——他们分享过的笑话、一起看过的篮球赛等等。)”和““Writing allowed me to face my fear and my pen was a tool to reduce the pain,” says Desouvre. (‘写作让我得以直面内心的恐惧,而我的笔,就是缓解这份痛苦的工具。’Desouvre说道。)”可知,Desouvre在父亲被送进医院时,通过记录一些内容来缓解自己的焦虑。故选D项。
10. 细节理解题。根据第三段中的“They say it can strengthen the immune (免疫) system, help reduce pain, and improve the mood, sleep and memory.(他们表示,这种写作方式可以增强免疫系统,帮助减轻疼痛,改善情绪、睡眠和记忆力。)”
根据第四段中的“When asked about his first writing, Desouvre says it was when he was 12, he survived a car crash in Brooklyn. After it he had nightmares about it over the years, he started writing about it, and then kept going. It helped.(当被问及他的第一次写作时,Desouvre说那是在他12岁的时候,他在布鲁克林的一场车祸中幸存下来。在那之后的几年里,他一直做关于那场车祸的噩梦,于是他开始写关于车祸的事情,并且一直写下去。这很有帮助。)”可知,Desouvre开始第一次写作是为了摆脱一段可怕的经历(车祸带来的噩梦困扰)。故选D项。
12. 细节理解题。根据第五段中的“Now he thinks of his expressive writing as a recording of what happened and what he’s learned. He always starts with “the tough stuff ” and then writes about how he’s grown from the experience.(现在,他把自己的表达性写作看作是对所发生事情和所学知识的一种记录。他总是从‘艰难的事情’开始写,然后写下自己从这段经历中成长了多少。)”以及后文提到的记录学习压力和从中获得的成长可知,Desouvre将表达性写作视为对得失的一种记录。故选A项。
D 14. B 15. C 16. B
由第一段的“Wang Xiaoyu, Senior 2 girl from Xichang, Sichuan Province fainted (晕倒) in class when she heard her classmates quarrel at the top of their voices.(来自四川省西昌市的高二女生王晓雨在课堂上突然晕倒了,当时她听到同学们在大声争吵。)”
由第一段的“Wang Xiaoyu, Senior 2 girl from Xichang, Sichuan Province fainted (晕倒) in class when she heard her classmates quarrel at the top of their voices. Quarrels between her parents also put her into a coma.(来自四川省西昌市的高二女生王晓雨在课堂上听到同学们大声争吵时突然晕倒了。她父母之间的争吵也让她陷入了coma。)”可知,划线词所在的句子的前一句中fainted (晕倒)一词表明,父母的争吵也会让她陷入昏迷,因此coma也是昏迷之意。故选B。
15. 推理判断题。由第四段中的“Ferrer’s research also found that if teenagers feel they get little attention from their parents, they are more likely to get sick.(费雷尔的研究还发现,如果青少年觉得父母对他们关注不够,他们就更有可能生病。)”
通读全文,特别是第二段内容““We don’t get sick or stay well by ourselves,” says Dr. Robert Ferrer from the US. Ferrer shows that family relationships may explain about 25% of health problems in his recent research.(美国的罗伯特·费雷尔医生表示:“我们不会自己患病或保持健康。”费雷尔在其近期的研究中指出,家庭关系能够解释约 25% 的健康问题。)”可知,本文由王晓雨因身患抑郁而在同学或家人争吵之时晕倒的个案导入,介绍了不良的家庭关系(包括父母之间的争吵及对孩子的忽略)对子女健康状况的影响。在最后一段中指出家人的一个小小的改善会产生很大的作用。由此可知,作者想借本文说明的是:幸福的家庭使我们健康。故选B。

根据第一段“Although they don’t like admitting it, both of my parents couldn’t go without their phones as I do.(尽管他们不愿承认,但我的父母就像我一样,都无法离得开他们的手机)”可知,作者的父母像他一样对手机上瘾。故选B。
根据第二段“Growing up, we are repeatedly reminded that we are those who prefer to text our friends in the same room rather than make eye contact with them. We are ruining the English language because we like using heart-eyes emojis instead of spelling it out.(在成长过程中,我们不断被提醒:我们就是那种宁愿给同室好友发短信,也不愿与他们进行眼神交流的人。我们正在破坏英语语言的本来面貌,因为我们喜欢使用“心形眼”表情符号来代替直接书写“爱”这个词)”可推断,年轻一代的弱点是放弃了直接交流的方式。故选A。
根据第三段“I get upset when I receive the “I’ll be with you shortly” line from a parent. But at the same time, leaving the room to wait until my father is finished with his “serious business” has now become the norm.(当我收到家长发来的“我很快就会和你在一起(陪你)”的短信时,我很沮丧。但与此同时,离开房间等到我父亲完成他的“严肃事务”已经成为norm。)”和下文“Whether you want to escape your noisy children for a while, or want to stay up late tapping through Twitter, all of these are common. But you should fully understand it.(无论你是想暂时摆脱吵闹的孩子,还是想熬夜浏览推特,所有这些都很常见。但你应该完全理解它。)”可知,孩子离开房间等待父亲处理完他的‘重要事’,如今已变成了很常见的事情,并且应该完全理解。故划线词词义与B项“可接受行为”意思相近。故选B。
20. 细节理解题。根据最后一段“So before calling us out and telling us to “put our phones away at the table” or even worse, saying how damaging social media can be to us, maybe you should lead by example and consider how much time you spend on the phone as well as how this is influencing your children and your relationship with them. Maybe in this way we can work on our addiction together.(所以,在指责我们并要求我们“在餐桌上把手机收起来”甚至更过分地说出社交媒体对我们有多有害之前,或许你应该以身作则,思考一下自己使用手机的时间有多长,以及这如何影响到了你的孩子以及你与他们的关系。也许这样我们就能一起努力克服对手机的依赖了)”可知,最后一段给出的建议是在孩子面前要表现好,以身作则。故选C。

Passage 4

C. Her Zumba class experience. D. Her burpee embarrassment.
3. Which of the following can replace the underlined phrase in paragraph 3?

根据第二段中“February 2017 was a game changing time in my life. Something clicked after an embarrassing moment that involved burpees (立卧撑) in front of a group at my kids’ school event. The next day I asked my husband if he would join me in figuring out my health. (At this time I was 280 pounds.) (2017年2月是我生命中改变游戏规则的时刻。在孩子们学校活动中,在一群人面前做立卧撑的尴尬时刻过后,我突然开窍了。第二天,我问我丈夫是否愿意和我一起解决我的健康问题。(这时我体重280磅))”可知,是做立卧撑的尴尬经历让作者决定重新开始跑步。故选D项。
3. 词句猜测题。根据划线短语所在句“After that, I completed my first half marathon. I caught the running bug and by July I hit a huge milestone — 100 pounds down!(在那之后,我完成了我的第一个半程马拉松。我caught the running bug,到7月我达到了一个巨大的里程碑——减重100磅!)”以及前文作者成功完成跑步相关项目,且之后继续坚持跑步可推知,“caught the running bug”意思是爱上了跑步,所以完成了减肥目标,与“Fell in love with running”同义。故选A项。
My name is Erica. I’ve struggled with my weight since I was eight years old. At my peak, I weighed 320 pounds. Over the years I tried every diet you could think of.(大家好!我叫艾丽卡。我从八岁起就一直在与体重作斗争。在我的巅峰时期,我重达320磅。多年来,我尝试了你能想到的每一种饮食)”和后文内容可知,作者讲述了自己尝试各种减肥方法失败,但在因为一次尴尬经历后重新开始跑步,并逐步取得进步,完成跑步项目,成功减重100磅的故事。整篇文章围绕个人减重故事展开。这更适合在一个分享跑步故事的论坛上呈现。故选C项。
D 6. B 7. B 8. C
根据第一段“‘I have a couple of spots for anyone who wants to lose 20 pounds by the holidays! No diets or exercise!’ said Katie Hurley, a psychologist who specializes in work with tweens, teens and young adults, ‘The fact that diet culture all over social media targets grown women is bad enough, but such messaging also reaches tweens and teens. There’s been a noticeable increase in eating disorder, particularly among adolescent girls.’(专门研究儿童、青少年和年轻人心理的心理学家Katie Hurley说:“我有几个名额,给那些想在假期前减掉20磅体重的人!无需节食或锻炼!社交媒体上无处不在的节食文化针对成年女性已经够糟糕了,但这样的信息也影响到了儿童和青少年。饮食失调的情况明显增加,尤其是在青春期女孩中。”)”可知,作者引用Katie Hurley的话是为了引出“节食文化对青少年产生影响”这一话题。故选D项。
6. 细节理解题。根据第五段最后一句“Yet this mindset can cause food anxiety, addictive checking of food labels and dangerous calorie restriction.(然而,这种心态会导致食物焦虑、对查看食品标签上瘾以及危险的热量限制。)”
根据最后一段“‘It’s important to remember this: parents are influencers, too,’ said Hanson, ‘What we say and do matters to our teens.’(Hanson说:“要记住这一点很重要:父母也是有影响力的人。
C 10. A 11. B 12. C
由第一段中“Jessica Unick, a professor at Brown University and The Miriam Hospital’s Weight Control and Diabetes Research Center, led a multiyear study beginning in 2019 that was the first of its kind to examine the possibility of yoga for weight loss maintenance (保持). (布朗大学和米里亚姆医院体重控制和糖尿病研究中心的杰西卡·尤尼克教授从2019年开始领导了一项为期多年的研究,这是首次检验瑜伽在保持减肥方面的潜力)”可知,Unick的研究的特点在于它检验了瑜伽维持减肥的能力。故选C项。
10. 细节理解题。由第三段中“For example, if someone experiences improvements in mindfulness, they may be less likely to ‘mindlessly’ eat in response to feelings such as boredom, stress, anger and other situations like the presence of tasty foods, rather than eating only when hungry.(例如,如果有人在正念方面有所改善,他们可能不太可能为了应对无聊、压力、愤怒和其他情况(如美味食物的存在)而‘无意识地’进食,而不是只在饥饿时进食)”可知,通过瑜伽达到正念的人会在他们饿的时候进食。故选A项。
由第四段中“A 2021 study found no difference in weight loss totals for participants practicing a gentle hatha yoga and a more vigorous vinyasa type of yoga. (2021年的一项研究发现,练习温和的哈他瑜伽和更vigorous维尼亚瑜伽的参与者的减肥总量没有差异)”可知,根据上下文对比“a gentle hatha yoga”和“a more vigorous vinyasa type of yoga”,可以推测“vigorous”意义与“gentle”相对,为“dynamic (有活力的)”。故选B项。
由最后一段中“There are now many styles of yoga that meet you where you are no matter what your size, age, physical challenge or background. Everybody and every body can benefit from a yoga practice. (现在,无论你的体型、年龄、身体挑战或背景如何,都有许多瑜伽风格适合你。每个人和每个躯体都可以从瑜伽练习中受益)”可知,每个人都可以做瑜伽,不管他们是谁。故选C项。
A 14. B 15. C 16. A
根据第一段中“Being the curious cat I am, I reached out to two experts for their thoughts (出于我的好奇心,我联系了两位专家听取他们的意见)”可知,作者询问两位专家的意见是为了满足自己的好奇心。故选A。
根据第三段中“However, Johnson warns that such claims are often not based on scientific research.(然而,Johnson警告说,这些说法通常没有科学研究依据)”以及“Companies are going along with the trend, making grand promises without scientific backing to support them. (公司顺应这一趋势,在没有科学依据支持的情况下做出重大承诺)”可知,Johnson认为绿茶减肥产业缺乏可靠证据支持其说法。故选B。
15. 推理判断题。根据最后一段中“In the end, a healthy and lasting way to lose weight involves proper nutrition, regular physical activity, and a realistic understanding of what different foods and drinks can do for our bodies. (最后,健康而持久的减肥方法包括适当的营养、定期的体育活动,以及对不同食物和饮料对我们身体的作用有现实的理解)”可以推断,合理的饮食和锻炼有助于减肥。故选C。
16. 主旨大意题。全文围绕“绿茶是否能真正燃烧脂肪”展开讨论,引用专家观点,分析市场宣传和科学依据之间的差距,并最终强调健康减肥的正确方式。A选项“Does Green Tea Really Burn Fat?(绿茶真的能燃烧脂肪吗?)” 故选A。
C 18. B 19. B 20. A
根据第一段中的“The truth is, whether they’re unhealthy depends entirely on how you prepare them.(事实上,它们是否不健康完全取决于你如何制备它们。)”
根据第二段“The main issue isn’t the noodles themselves, but the common way people make them: pouring boiling water over dried noodles and adding all the salty seasoning packets. These flavor packets contain high levels of salt and artificial additives (人工添加剂), making this version unbalanced and unhealthy.(主要问题不在于面条本身,而在于人们制作面条的常见方式:将沸水倒在干面条上,并加入所有咸味调料包。这些调味包含有高含量的盐和人工添加剂,使这种版本不平衡和不健康。)”可知,方便面健康风险的核心诱因在于调味包中过量的钠盐与人工合成添加剂。故选B。
19. 推理判断题。根据第三段“To make them healthier, cook them properly: boil the noodles first, drain excess starchy (含有淀粉的) water, then use fresh water or broth (肉汤). Crucially, use only half the seasoning packet to reduce salt. Add vegetables like spinach or carrots and protein like an egg or tofu while cooking. This boosts vitamins and protein while cutting sodium (钠). This transforms them into a balanced meal!
通读全文,根据文章第一段“Instant noodles are a favorite quick meal when people don’t want to cook. Picture eating them while watching TV on a stormy night — pure comfort! But many believe they’re just junk food that harms health. The truth is, whether they’re unhealthy depends entirely on how you prepare them.(方便面是人们不想做饭时最喜欢的快餐。想象一下在暴风雨的夜晚边看电视边吃它们的情景——纯粹的安慰!但许多人认为它们只是危害健康的垃圾食品。事实上,它们是否不健康完全取决于你如何制备它们。)”等内容可知。文章主要讨论了方便面是否属于不健康食品的争议,指出其健康性取决于烹饪方式。所以选项A. Instant Noodles: Not All Waste.(方便面:并非全无是处)最能概括文意,适合用作标题。故选A。
