专题09 课后续写 主题01 人与自我——生活与学习 Passage 1 (23-24高二上·阜阳三中·期中) That day, I was going to skate a clean freestyle program for the first time in a year. I determined to land the axel (前外一周半跳) in competition. “I can make it!” I thought as I skated to the center ice. When my music sounded, I started my program with a circular step and a bright smile, followed by a beautiful combination spin. Flying camel, sit spin, layback spin. Perfection. The jump! The axel! I could do it when I practiced off-ice, but I’d only landed it on-ice approximately fourteen times in my entire life. So I was a little nervous. I’d leave it out if I could, but my Olympic dreams depended on it. My coach, Geena, put it early in my program so I could do it while my legs were not tired. Taking a deep breath, “I can succeed!” I thought. I was on the right back outside edge of my skate blade (冰刀), ready to turn forward and launch into the axel. My nerves were back, working against me. “I can do this!” I thought. I stepped into takeoff and I did… a waltz jump (半周跳). It is a jump I’d been doing since I was pretty young. It is only one-half a rotation (旋转) instead of the one and one-half that I need for the axel. I glimpsed Coach Geena’s questioning eyebrow as I glided past the door and imagined the disappointed looks on my parents’ faces. “It’s not over,” I reasoned to myself, glancing into the bleachers “I’d just replace the next jump with the axel.” However, it didn’t work out the way I’d hoped. I fell, and I kept falling. Never one to give up, I replaced every jump in my program with the axel, but I didn’t land one. I spent so much time on the ice that it’s like I was making sure the ice was clean for the next skater. The two minutes, fifteen seconds of my program felt like an age. By the time I was done, my dress was soaked through and I was seven seconds behind my music, so I finished skating to silence. As I skated toward the exit, I felt everyone was looking at me with pity. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The performance going on, I rose up from the bleachers, determined to go home but my parents held me up. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】One possible version: As I skated toward the exit, I felt everyone was looking at me with pity. How I wished the floor would open up and swallow me! Offstage, Coach Geena handed me a towel and I thanked her with a heavy heart. Then I climbed upstairs and seated myself between my parents. Dad placed a comforting hand on my shoulder and Mom gave me a tight squeeze. “Darling, it’s OK.” I nodded, my eyes watering. As I turned my gaze to the ice center, I happened to catch sight of a perfect axel the next skater landed. There came clapping and cheering. My heart grew heavier. The performance going on, I rose up from the bleachers, determined to go home but my parents held me up. “It’s poor sportsmanship to leave before the results are posted.” Hesitating for a moment, I sat back. Time dragging, I was absent-minded. However, when I saw a skater fall down and then gracefully stand up, I watched the performance with full attention. When the competition ended, I gave my parents a big hug and determined to pursue my Olympic dream no matter how many difficulties I would face. Another possible version: As I skated toward the exit, I felt everyone was looking at me with pity. When the next skater glided past me to take her place center ice, I couldn’t help thinking I was a terrible skater. After making an eye contact with Coach Geena, I made my way to my parents and sat between them. My weak smile resulted in their hugs of encouragement. Not having the mood to watch the performance, I sank in thought soon. “What am I doing here? My skating career will end.” The more I thought about it, the sadder I felt. “Maybe I should give up.” The performance going on, I rose up from the bleachers, determined to go home but my parents held me up. I looked down to see concern and worry in their eyes. Words failed me. Unwilling to make them worry, I sank back into the seat and continued watching the performance. Suddenly, the skater on the ice fell. As she struggled to her feet and went on with her performance, I saw an excellent performer. She failed outside, but not inside. I suddenly realized giving up would leave me in total failure. Ashamed of my stupid decision, I decided to fight against discouragements to realise my skating dream. 词汇激活 行为类 看见:catch sight of /spot 放置:place/put 追求:pursue /go after 情绪类 感谢:gracefully/thankfully/with gratitude 心不在焉:absent-minded / abstracted 【点睛】[高分句型1] How I wished the floor would open up and swallow me! That is when you should give them time and understanding and he or she just might come around before long. I remember talking with my friend Avery about the coming school play Alices Adventure in Wonderland, which we both applied for. Avery had a talent for acting and she was anxious for playing Alice while for me I didn’t care what part I played as long as I would be in. However, when character list was posted, we were surprised to find that I got the part of Alice and Avery was chosen to act the rabbit. I guessed it was because I hadn’t been nervous at all during the audition (试演). But that situation really didn’t occur to me. Then I asked Avery, “Do you want to come over after school and we can practice our lines?” “You mean, practice your lines?” Avery replied, not even looking at me. “No, thanks. I’m pretty busy this week.” I continued to ask if it would be OK for next week but her answer was negative and full of anger. That night at dinner, after my parents congratulated me on getting the lead role, they asked how I felt. “Well, I can’t understand.” I said and told them about Avery’s reaction and I believed that she pretty much threw away our friendship. “Hmm,” said my dad. “Arizona, don’t you think this might be an opportunity for you to be an extra-good friend?” “Dad’s right,” added my mom. “Sometimes when our friends do well, we feel envious (羡慕的) and don’t know how to act. Try giving her a little time and understanding. She’ll come around.” Over the next week, I did my best to give Avery some space. I practised my lines but I knew I needed some help since my voice was not expressive enough. Day by day, Avery’s attitude seemed softened. As the rehearsal (彩排) day was near, I made a decision. One day after school in the rehearsal room, I approached Avery. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Then came the big day. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】One day after school in the rehearsal room, I approached Avery. “Hey, Avery,” I said. “I was wondering if you could help me with my lines. I know you’re busy, but I really need your help.”  Avery looked up at me and smiled. “Sure, I’d be happy to help.” We spent the next hour going over my lines and she gave me some great advice on how to make my performance more expressive. I was so grateful for her help and I could tell that she was happy to be able to help me. Then came the big day. We both performed our parts perfectly and the audience was thrilled. After the show, Avery and I hugged each other and thanked each other for our help. I was so glad that I had given her time and understanding, and that she had come around. From then on, we were even better friends than before. 词汇激活 行为类 ①靠近:approach/get close to ②想知道:wonder/want to know ③互相拥抱:hug each other/embrace each other 情绪类 ①高兴的:happy/pleased/delighted ②感激的:grateful/thankful 【点睛】[高分句型1]I was wondering if you could help me with my lines.(运用了if引导的宾语从句) [高分句型2]Then came the big day.(运用了完全倒装) [高分句型3]I was so glad that I had given her time and understanding, and that she had come around.(运用了so...that...句型) Passage 3 (23-24高二上·宿州示范高中·期中) As a single mother, I’ve never doubted my daughter Jane’s dream to be a singer on the stage. At an early age, she was crazy about singing. Whenever she had a chance, she would sing to her heart’s content. Her sweet and charming voice tended to get people around attracted to her songs. Living in a small city, I took several odd jobs, determined to do everything in my power to support her. Soon after Jane attended school, her music teacher Mary noticed her talent by chance and volunteered to give her some guidance on how to sing. Jane practiced so hard that before long she made great progress in singing. Unfortunately, one noon a year later, Jane was crossing the street when a careless driver knocked her down. She was rushed to hospital. When I hurried there, the doctor told me that my daughter would probably not stand on her own feet. I froze with shock, feeling as if I had been thrown into a dark world. Weak and dizzy, I was about to fall to the ground when someone took hold of me. It was Mary, who got the news and raced here. She comforted me, saying firmly, “Grace, Jane needs you. You must stay calm and strong.” I nodded. Having calmed down, I entered the ward with Mary. That night, Jane recovered her consciousness (知觉) and opened her eyes. Holding her hand, I said, “My dear, everything would be fine.” Mary comforted her gently, “I know you are a strong girl, Jane. Don’t worry. We’ll be standing by you.” I was heartbroken to see tears streaming down Jane’s cheeks. After two months, we returned home from hospital. Her teachers and friends frequently visited her. Jane eventually accepted the fact that she would have to get around in a wheelchair. Never did she refer to the subject of singing again. I knew she was a nice and understanding girl, who was afraid that talking about her original dream would upset the two of us. One day, however, Mary came with good news. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ When the host announced it was Jane’s turn, she was wheeled onto the stage. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】    One day, however, Mary came with good news. She told Jane the school music festival was to be held the next month and that her classmates all expected her to sing on behalf of her class. Jane’s eyes sparkled but responded doubtfully, “Can I...?” Mary and I immediately assured her that she could make it. In the following month, with the help of Mary, Jane kept on practicing singing. Beautiful songs echoed in our house again and smiles began to appear on her face. Finally the big day came when she could present herself. When the host announced it was Jane’s turn, she was wheeled onto the stage. Jane was greeted with warm applause. As she began to sing, the audience got absorbed in her beautiful voice. Seconds after her performance, all the audience rose with thunderous cheers. When wheeled off stage, Jane received praise and bunches of flowers from her teachers and classmates. Jane was moved to tears. The kindness and encouragement from her teachers and classmates stimulated Jane’s enthusiasm for life, making her regain confidence in pursuing her original dream, which I will support wholeheartedly. 词汇激活 行为类 ①希望:expect/hope/wish ②回答:respond/reply/answer ③保证:assure/guarantee/ensure 情绪类 ①眼睛闪闪发光:eyes sparkle/eyes glitter ②感动:move/touch 【点睛】[高分句型1]As she began to sing, the audience got absorbed in her beautiful voice.(由连接词as引导时间状语从句) [高分句型2]The kindness and encouragement from her teachers and classmates stimulated Jane’s enthusiasm for life, making her regain confidence in pursuing her original dream, which I will support wholeheartedly.(由关系代词which引导非限制性定语从句) Passage 4 (23-24高一上·滁州九校·期中) About a month ago, my husband and I found kindness in an unlikely place: standing in line at a Subway sandwich shop to pick up a quick dinner. It was extremely busy on this particular night, and I noticed a dad behind us with his little girl, who looked to be around four. The man seemed as tired as my husband, but the little girl was cheerful and excited as she waited for her sandwich and cookie. I watched as the man behind us got closer to the front of the line. He started to look worried. Right before we checked out, I heard the man say to the woman who had made his sandwiches that he was sorry to just leave his out because he didn’t have enough money to pay for them all. He looked very embarrassed. His little girl continued jumping around excitedly. I quietly asked the cashier to add the man’s whole order to ours. I paid the $ 87.73, and we got out of there before the man behind us knew what had happened. Like many others since COVID-19 hit, our family of five was living on one income. I was holding our debit card (借记卡) and knew that we only had $ 90.16 in our account. That was all we would have until payday three days later. But still, it felt great to be able to help that family, even though we would be out of money for a few days. What happened next was amazing. My husband went back to that Subway the next week to pick up five sandwiches that I thought would cost $ 44.58. There was $ 47 in our account. But it turned out that the dinner cost more than we had on the card. My husband told them to put his sandwich back because he couldn’t afford it. Then he paid for the four sandwiches and headed to our car. As he opened the door, one of the female workers ran to him. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The two men nodded at one another and went on their way. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】One possible version: As he opened the door, one of the female workers ran to him. When he was confusedly wondering what she was for, the worker handed him his sandwich. Without a word, she ran back into the store. With a grateful heart, he assumed that the lady had just given it to him. About two minutes later, he was getting ready to leave when he saw the same man and little girl from a week earlier. At that moment, my husband knew what had happened. The two men nodded at one another and went on their way. Although they didn’t say a word to each other, gratitude took roots in their hearts. They made sure for the second time that they both left the store with dinner for their families. My husband told me what had happened on arriving home. I was touched and lost in thought. In a world where distance means safety, it’s refreshing and soul-lifting when someone does something kind for you, even if it’s only at a local Subway. 词汇激活 行为类 确认:make sure/ensure 看见:see/spot 以为:assume/consider 情绪类 困惑:confusedly /puzzledly 感激:grateful /thankful 【点睛】[高分句型1] When he was confusedly wondering what she was for, the worker handed him his sandwich. (运用了although引导让步状语从句) Passage 5 (24-25高一上·马鞍山二中·期中) At age 10, I stood in front of my new class, my new classmates looking at me with mild interest as my teacher introduced me. I joined in the middle of the school year. There were 41 students in my new class. I was the 42nd. All my classmates sat in pairs except for this one girl, Kate. I went and sat down next to her and gave her a small, uncertain smile. She smiled in return. The class started and we didn’t talk until lunch time. At lunch time, I pulled out my lunch box, packed by my mother. It had fried rice with home-made cakes and a small box of fruits. Clearly my mom had spent time packing this yummy lunch. This girl took out a small box with bread butter inside. In India, it’s pretty rare for kids to just get bread butter for lunch. The only time I had bread butter for lunch was if my mom was unwell. So I thought that was what the problem here was. I offered her a small part of my lunch and forgot all about it. The next day, she again had bread butter. Well, I thought, her mother might have fallen ill, so she was taking time to recover. I again offered her a part of my lunch. This went on for a week. Then one day, I asked the one question that I shouldn’t have. “Is your mom not well?” In fact, I wasn’t prepared for the answer. Later, I knew that her mother, who worked in a supermarket, was in poor health. She constantly stayed at home with no income. I didn’t know what to do. So I did the most obvious thing. I went home and told my mom that my lunch wasn’t enough and I still felt hungry after eating it. My mom started packing a bigger lunch. And in school, I’d tell Kate that my mom had packed me a lunch too big, so could she please help me finish it? Then I asked her what her favorite dish was. “Naan,” she whispered. When I told my mom that I wanted very much to have Naan, she felt puzzled. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ I moved out of that school soon after and didn’t stay in touch with Kate. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】When I told my mom that I wanted very much to have Naan, she felt puzzled. Naan was not a common dish in our household, and my mom wasn’t sure if she could prepare it, but she promised she would try. The next day, I was thrilled to find that my lunch box now contained a piece of Naan, and I eagerly shared it with Kate. Seeing her smiling face made me feel really happy inside. From that day on, my mom would occasionally pack some Indian delicacies for me to share with Kate, and I would be more than happy to do so. I moved out of that school soon after and didn't stay in touch with Kate. However, this experience taught me an important lesson about kindness and understanding. Often we judge people too quickly, without realizing their underlying struggles. While it may seem small, sharing my lunch with Kate helped me to connect with her on a deeper level and to understand her better. As I grew older, I would try to apply this lesson in my daily life – to be a little kinder, a little more empathetic, and a little more understanding of people's struggles. 词汇激活 行为类 ①分享:share/divide/split ②准备:prepare/intend/draw up ③判断:judge/estimate/assess 情绪类 ①开心:happy/content/joyous ②激动:thrill/excit/amaze 【点睛】[高分句型1]Seeing her smiling face made me feel really happy inside.  (动名词做主语) [高分句型2]As I grew older, I would try to apply this lesson in my daily life – to be a little kinder, a little more empathetic, and a little more understanding of people's struggles. (由As引导的时间状语从句) Passage 6 (23-24高二上·安庆二中·期中) It was the worst day ever and I'll never forget it. The day began as usual. My husband, Alan, entered his office in our home and participated in conference calls. In the kitchen, I could hear him speaking on the phone to his boss. Suddenly, I heard some words that were absolutely alarming. When he exited his office moments later, my fears were confirmed- Alan had been laid off. I hugged him as my heart sank, and my mind raced: What were we going to do with his unemployment? Would we lose our house if we couldn't afford to pay for it? “We'll be fine,” he said. “I know," I responded. But, frankly, neither of us was very convincing. I wanted to be in bed with covers over my head, but I had to make my way to work. It was an hour into my shift before I received a call from the doctor. I had noticed some strange lumps in my neck, and he'd been performing tests to determine the cause “You have cancer,” he stated. I distinctly remember my response: “What?” I must have misheard. It sounded like he said I had cancer, but that was completely ridiculous. I had always been healthy and cancer was out of the question. The doctor repeated those terrible words. It was true: Cancer was in my body. He went on discussing future treatment plans and appointments, I think. I really wasn't listening anymore. As I drove home, I thought about how wonderful things had been up until this day. Now it's time to pay back for all those amazing years. I prepared myself for a hopeless future, or no future at all. Alan hugged me when I arrived home, and I cried as he held me tight. “Someday in the future, we're going to write about today,” he whispered in my ear, “and we'll call it Worst Day Ever. ” 注意:1.续写词数应为150左右; 2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 We cheered ourselves up and stopped feeling sorry. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All the efforts eventually paid off. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】We cheered ourselves up and stopped feeling sorry. Alan began calling everyone he could think of with possible connections in his industry. He tirelessly applied and interviewed for dozens of positions. At the same time, we managed to find a brilliant physician who immediately began to perform thorough scans and other tests to determine the stage and severity of my cancer. Time dragging on, our anxiety was high, but we kept our heads up and always looked forward. All the efforts eventually paid off. Within several months, Alan landed a position at an emerging restaurant chain, with excellent pay and terrific benefits. Better still, my physician completed her tests, and the results were more than encouraging. She concluded that my cancer was manageable and not as aggressive as other forms, and I would most likely survive it. As the first anniversary of Worst Day Ever, Alan and I decided to celebrate it every year as a reminder of the optimism and determination it took for our survival. It is true that hope makes sense of our past and creates a vision for tomorrow. 词汇激活 行为类 ①实施:perform /conduct ②找到工作:land a position /get a position /be offered a position ③完成:complete/finish 情绪类 ①焦虑:anxiety /worry ②鼓舞人心的:encouraging /uplifting 【点睛】[高分句型1]. They hired a woman called May to help raise their three children. Their first son, Matt, was now 18, and they had two other children who were 8 and 5 years old. When they had Matt, they weren’t financially wealthy. However, by the time Matt turned 9, it slowly improved. When Matt was 11, they decided to send him to a private school since they could afford it. Changing the school environment brought about a sudden personality change for Matt, and his parents believed it was because putting him in a class of wealthy teenagers made him feel superior (有优越感的). Through the years, the concerned parents tried to change this side of Matt. When he was16, the parents made him take a part-time job to start taking financial responsibility seriously. At first, the parents thought it worked. However, after some time, the boy’s parents realized he hadn’t changed. One day, the couple planned to go on vacation. Instead of leaving May at home, they decided to take her with them and bought her a first-class ticket. While they were planning the vacation, Matt overheard them talking. He felt his parents’ paying for May’s first-class seat was unnecessary because their family had already paid for her. The mom was shocked. She said it was mean for him to say that, especially after everything May did for them. She added how grateful she was for May’s help, as she gave up time for her own child to raise hers—Matt included. Still, Matt continued to argue his point. The mom grew tired of his selfishness and said he’d be the one in an economy seat and had to pay for an upgrade to first class if he wanted one. The boy nodded, thinking it was a joke. 注意:1.续写词数应为150个左右; 2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 On the day of the trip, Matt realized his mom was telling the truth. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Still feeling ashamed after the trip, the young man knew he had to change. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】范文 On the day of the trip, Matt realized his mum was telling the truth. He started losing his temper in the middle of the airport. He complained ten hours of flying in a small economy seat would be very uncomfortable. His mother replied that he could have used the money he earned from his part time job to upgrade. Matt was speechless and had to accept the decision. But to Matt’s surprise, May asked the flight attendant to switch her and Matt’s seats before the plane took off. Matt got to sit in first class as he wished, but he was ashamed. Still feeling ashamed after the trip, the young man knew he had to change. He realized all his former comfortable life had been due to his parents and hard-working May. She loves animals so much that she found a job in an emergency vet clinic(兽医诊所)after graduating from college. There she could help a lot of injured pets. One day, a rescue worker brought in a homeless cat. The cat had numerous injuries and needed immediate medical aid. No one in the vet clinic wanted to rescue the cat but Sandy. All the others didn't think the cat would survive. And they suggested putting the cat to death. But Sandy didn't want to give up. She always believes that every animal deserves a chance. Holding the cat in her arms, she was determined to rescue her. Sandy was good at treating injured animals. Thanks to her, the cat survived. She took good care of the cat and she gradually recovered. However, it wasn't the end of the story. Because of the operation performed on her face, the cat always wore a sad expression and looked really ugly. Those who came to the clinic to adopt pets didn't want her. The staff at the vet clinic suggested getting rid of the cat. But Sandy didn't agree. She wanted to adopt the cat herself, but there was a problem—her husband was allergic(过敏)to cats. So Sandy couldn't take her home. Thinking the cat might have to be homeless, Sandy was very sad. Turning eleven was a big deal, and she had always celebrated it with a grand party surrounded by her friends. However, this year was different. The burden of excessive homework and her parents’ struggling business weighed heavily on her, forcing Sally to make the difficult decision of not having a birthday party, even though it was an event she enjoyed dearly every year. One day, during the break, her best friend, Jane, with a curious look in her eyes, approached. “Are you going to have a birthday party this year?” Jane asked, sensing Sally’s sadness. “No,” Sally sighed and replied sadly, “there’s just too much going on and my parents are going through financial difficulties.” She smiled weakly, trying to conceal (掩饰) her extreme disappointment and stress, but Jane saw through her pretence easily. Jane nodded thoughtfully and did not say anything. After the break, Sally saw her talking to one of their classmates, Sarah, secretively. Curious, Sally went over to them, but as soon as Jane saw her, she quickly walked away. Sally was scared by Jane’s strange actions and turned towards Sarah. “What did she say?” Sally asked. However, Sarah simply shrugged and walked away, leaving Sally standing there, feeling left out and anxious. “What is happening?” Sally wondered anxiously. “Are they keeping something from me?” As Sally’s birthday drew nearer, Jane was often found chatting softly with their other classmates. Whenever Sally went over to them, they would just walk away or tell her that they were talking about a secret which Sally was not allowed to know. “Jane has never kept secrets from me before,” Sally thought. Her heart fell. Even her friends were distancing themselves from her! She swung between confusion and sadness with each passing moment, desperately trying to figure out what was happening. Why were her friends distancing themselves from her? And what were they hiding? 注意: 1. 续写词数应为150个左右; 2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 On the day of Sally’s birthday, she went to school and found her classroom in total darkness. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Tears sprang from Sally’s eyes and her face broke into a radiant smile. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】On the day of Sally’s birthday, she went to school and found her classroom in total darkness. A wave of confusion washed over her as she stepped hesitantly into the room, her heart pounding. She reached for the light switch, but before her hand could find it, a chorus of voices broke the silence. “Surprise!”, her classmates, led by Jane, jumped out from all sorts of hiding places. As the room flooded with light, Sally’s eyes widened in surprise and disbelief. The classroom was decorated with balloons and streamers, a beautiful cake sat on the teacher’s desk, and in the corner, a pile of presents waited to be unwrapped. Tears sprang from Sally’s eyes and her face broke into a radiant smile. She turned towards Jane, who was grinning from ear to ear. “We knew you couldn’t have a party this year, so we decided to bring the party to you,” Jane said, her eyes twinkling with mischief. The cloud of confusion lifted from Sally’s mind as she realized that her friends hadn’t been distancing themselves from her, they were planning this surprise all along. The sadness that had been looming over her birthday disappeared, replaced with joy and gratitude. As she cut the cake and opened her presents, Sally realized that this was indeed a grand birthday party, just like the ones she used to have. 所装饰:be decorated with/be adorned with ②.拆开:unwrapped/ unpack ③.意识到:realized /was aware of 情绪类 ①.惊讶:surprise /astonishment ②.感激:gratitude /appreciation 【点睛】[高分句型1]. She almost won all the running races, so she became very proud. Tortoise was the slowest in the forest. When other animals met him on the way, they always offered help, “Where are you going? Do you need a ride?” The tortoise would always answer them politely, “No, thank you. As long as I keep on crawling, I will get to my place finally.” One morning, the hare saw the tortoise nearby. He was crawling slowly. The rabbit wanted to make fun of him. So she jumped toward the tortoise and said, “Tortoise, why don’t we have a race?” The tortoise thought for a while and said, “OK, let’s have the race now.” hearing this, the hare couldn’t help laughing. Then she pointed to the big tree at the foot of the hill and said, “All right, we’ll start from here. Let’s see who will get to that tree first.” The tortoise nodded in agreement. The magpie flew around the forest. She told everybody the news. Everyone came to watch the race. They invited the squirrel brothers to be the judges. Younger brother squirrel stood at the starting line, and elder brother squirrel waited at the finishing line. “Ready! Go-” younger brother squirrel ordered. “The hare ran forward very fast. The hare is so fast! The tortoise has no chance to win!” the animals said. Soon afterwards, the hare had left the tortoise far behind. She thought, “The tortoise racing with the rabbit, what a joke! I’ll teach him a lesson.” At this moment, the hare saw a big tree on one side of the road. She thought, “The tortoise is so far away behind me. Why not take a rest? I will let him go ahead. Then I can catch up with him in one jump. Everybody will know that I am really fast.” so, the hare stopped running and jumped toward the big tree. She sat down, closed her eyes, and fell asleep. The tortoise was still crawling forward very slowly. The animals yelled at him, “The hare may have reached the finishing line by now. You can’t win.” “No matter what, I will keep crawling and get to the finishing line,” the tortoise answered. 注意:续写词数应为150左右。 It was very hot at noon. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The hare finally woke up. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】It was very hot at noon. The tortoise was tired and thirsty. Suddenly, he saw the hare sleeping under the tree. The tortoise also wanted to take a rest, but he said to himself, “The hare is much faster. If I want to win, I can’t stop.” So the tortoise crawled past the rabbit. He was very tired, but he was getting closer and closer to the finishing line. The hare was having a dream. In her dream, she won the race. Everybody was happy for her, and they all laughed at the tortoise. Finally, the tortoise reached the tree. Elder brother squirrel jumped off the tree and said, “Tortoise! You have won the race!” “I just tried my best and kept crawling,” the tortoise said. The hare finally woke up. She looked back and didn’t see the tortoise. When she looked ahead, she saw the tortoise under the big tree! Oops! The hare jumped up and rushed toward the tree. But it was too late. “The tortoise won! The tortoise won the race!” the magpie was calling out. When the animals got the news, they all hurried to the tree. Since my parents were very busy at that time, my Aunt Julia often took care of me during their absence. One rainy day, when Julia and I were heading toward home, I caught sight of an old lady wearing an orange jacket with a huge bag and a walking stick. Out of curiosity, I asked Julia, “Who is she? What is she doing with that huge bag?” Julia caught a glimpse at her, then told me, “She is called Melinda. She has been collecting garbage with that huge garbage bag in the town for several years. Nobody knows why she’s been doing it. Maybe just for fun.” Hearing her words, I couldn’t help exclaiming, “Wow! It’s so strange! Why does she find it funny to collect garbage?” Since that day, I had come across her for many times on my way home. She always carried the huge garbage bag whether it was rainy or sunny. Gradually, I didn’t find her strange for collecting garbage. Instead, I began to greet her with a smile. Two years later, I was admitted to Chicago University. To my disappointment, I often saw trash on the lawn on campus. “Why should people litter everywhere? Who is responsible for the trash?” A few days later, it occurred to me that, since nobody took responsibility for it, why not collect trash myself? That way, I could walk past the lawn without feeling guilty. Then, I took action. I always took a trash bag and collect trash on the lawn every time I walked past it. A few students also followed suit soon afterwards, keeping the school cleaner and prettier than before. One day, an idea popped into my head when I finished collecting trash — maybe we could help make the city cleaner and prettier too! Despite the thought that collecting trash in front of so many people outside school was awkward, I knew it was the right thing to do. So I decided to give it a go. 注意:1. 续写词数共150左右; 2. 续写部分分为两段,每段的开头语已为你写好; 3. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 Paragraph 1: One day, I was collecting garbage outside the school. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Paragraph 2: Then I realized that I should encourage more students to take part. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】    One day, I was collecting garbage outside the school. Some people gave me a strange look, as if l were mad. All of a sudden, I thought of the old woman who used to collect garbage many years ago. It occurred to me that I was acting just like her. As strange as that may seem, collecting garbage was meaningful for me. Little by little, a lot of people, came to realize that I was doing voluntary service to keep the town clean, and I was complimented and thanked. Then I realized that I should encourage more students to take part. Surprisingly, they agreed and we founded a voluntary group. We gave each student a bright orange jacket with the message “Let’s Keep Our Town Cleaner!” We spent the time not just collecting trash, but also sorting it out and recycling it. The most wonderful thing was that all the people who were close to us were also doing their part! I said to myself, “This is what the old woman did for me. She has changed my life greatly.“” 【导语】本文以人物为线索展开,文章讲述了作者在年轻时受老妇人的影响开始收集垃圾,后来在大学时继续这种行为,并得到其他同学的支持,最终建立了一个志愿者团体,致力于保持城镇的清洁,并鼓励更多人参与。 词汇激活 行为类 ①想到:thought of  sth/sth came into one’s mind ②成立,建立:founded/set up ③感谢:thanked/appreciated 情绪类 ①令人惊讶的是:Surprisingly/Amazingly/ To one's surprise ②美妙的:wonderful/fantastic 【点睛】【高分句型1】All of a sudden, I thought of the old woman who used to collect garbage many years ago.(运用了关系代词who引导的定语从句) 【高分句型2】Little by little, a lot of people, came to realize that I was doing voluntary service to keep the town clean, and I was complimented and thanked. She couldn’t help weeping sorrowfully when she thought of the scolding from her mother. Having wandered aimlessly in the street for hours, she felt a little hungry and wished for something to eat. She stood beside a stand (货摊) for a while, watching the middle-aged seller busy doing his business. However, with no money in hand, she gave a sigh and had to leave. The seller behind the stand noticed the young girl and asked, “Hey, girl, you want to have the noodles?” “Oh, yes, but I don’t have money on me.” she replied. “That’s nothing. I’ll treat you today,” said the man, “Come in.” The seller brought her a bowl of noodles, whose smell was so attractive. As she was eating, Jenny cried silently. “What is it?” asked the man kindly. “Nothing. Actually, I was just touched by your kindness!” said Jenny as she wiped her tears. “Even a stranger on the street will give me a bowl of noodles, while my mother drove me out of the house. She showed no care for me. She is so merciless compared to a stranger!” Hearing the words, the seller smiled, “Girl, do you really think so? I only gave you a bowl of noodles and you thanked me a lot. But it is your mother who has raised you since you were a baby. Can you remember the times she cooked for you? Have you expressed your gratitude to her?” Jenny sat there, speechless and numb with shock: she remembered her mother’s familiar face and weathered hands. “Why didn’t I think of that? A bowl of noodles from a stranger made me feel grateful. Why haven’t I thanked my mum for what she has done for me?” On the way home. When she pushed the door open and entered the house, she found her mother was not in. Tired and sad, she sunk down into the sofa. “Where could my mother be?” she wondered. “Was she still angry with me?” Again, the scene of the quarrel appeared in her mind. Realizing that all the scolding from her mother was due to the fact that her mother really cared a lot about her, she felt rather ashamed, tears rolling down her cheeks. After her father died in her teens, life kept throwing new responsibilities at Linda. She had to look after her younger brothers and sisters. Then came kids after her getting married, and then the kids’ kids. She spent most of her life taking care of her family. And in her closet, Linda locked all her poems, her talent, and also her dream of reading her poems on stage. One Sunday, Linda was joyfully cooking in the kitchen because her children and grandchildren were going to visit her. Although doctors told her not to take stress, she spent five hours preparing nice food for them! After lunch that day, Linda sat with her 10-year-old grandson, Mark. And she said, “Honey, can you fetch me the family album from my closet? Let’s take a look together.” While searching for the album, Mark discovered many pieces of paper there. He came running and said, “Grandma! Are these yours? Do you write poems?” Linda replied, “Oh, I did it in the past. I wanted to read them on stage one day, but I never had the opportunity. You see, I have two wonderful sons and many lovely grandchildren. I got busy in the past. Anyway, forget about that.” But Mark didn’t. Days later, his school announced that there would be a talent show and that kids’ grandparents could also participate in it. Mark immediately signed his grandma up for the show. When visiting his grandma again, Mark told her the news and said, “Grandma, you can finally stand on stage and read your poems!” Linda said in tears, “I'm too old! I will get nervous.” But Mark believed that his grandma would be the best poet. With his encouragement, Linda agreed and decided to read a humorous poem written by herself. Mark’s support didn’t end up there. He told Linda’s story to Joseph, the father of one of his classmates, who worked as an editor for a local newspaper. And he asked whether Joseph could publish his grandma’s old poems and invite her to write new ones for the newspaper. Joseph smiled, “Well, if your grandma’s poems in the talent show prove good, I’ll talk about it with her.” 注意:1.续写词数应为150左右; 2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 Linda was expecting the upcoming show. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Joseph was deeply impressed with Linda's poem. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 Linda was expecting the upcoming show. He studied in the local school as his mother knew the significance of education in life but she was against his dream of becoming an artist. But as each day passed his dream became more passionate. Due to the circumstances even buying some new colours would be a luxury and as time passed, this wish grew into a desire but he didn't know how to convince his mother as his mother was his whole world after his father died. He didn’t want his mother to worry as he knew about the hard work his mother did in order to survive. A few days passed but he was determined to be an artist. The young boy had a drawing file and some colours in a poor state though it could be used for colouring purposes. He wandered in those hills to gather inspiration as from the very beginning, nature had been both his guide. Then he stopped at a beautiful spot and sat on the green grass at the bottom but after a few seconds he fell asleep. In his dream, he was creating a master piece of art that shook down the whole world. After some time he woke up and went back. The following day he read about a competition that was being held in the town. He got the perfect opportunity to realize his desire but he was in a dilemma (困境) as for the competition he needed paints and some brushes but he didn’t have enough money for the same. He didn’t have the courage to ask his mother for money. In the evening, when his mother returned from work, he saw that his mother had a few bundles of notes and that the money would be enough for him to buy those materials. Suddenly, the calm was disturbed by the scream of tyres. Not far ahead of them, a black truck was sliding from one lane (车道) to the other. To the Bauers’ horror, it crashed into n concrete barrier (混凝土护栏), jumped over the car directly ahead of them, and ended up hanging over the railing (栏杆) of the bridge. Bauer stopped the car in lime to avoid other vehicles. And then another scream appeared. It came from the truck, which had come to rest on its right side. The driver’s door was pushed aid a man climbed out. He dropped to the ground and then rushed to the railing. Bauer ran up beside him. The man pointed down, saying something in Spanish. In the water was a child car seat. There was a little girl next to it, about two years old. She was frightened, floating on her back, kicking and screaming. From around the truck, more screams from others who had seen the accident came. Things quickly went worse when the girl rolled over. Bauer waited for the truck driver to do something, but he was in shock. Maybe he was quite fresh to the rescue. Bauer was not sure about his chances of jumping from this height into such shallow water. And were there rocks that would cause cuts? But the truck driver didn’t move. Time ticking by, taking action was a must: “Ava, call the emergency group!” Bauer shouted, ready to remove his shoes. “And stay by the car!” Bauer added. 注意: 1.续写词数应为150个左右; 2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 Then he climbed onto the railing. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The rescue team rushed towards Bauer to take the girl from his arms. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】Then he climbed onto the railing. Taking a deep breath, he let go of the railing and jumped. The cold water surrounded him, but he managed to steady himself and began swimming towards the girl. As he got closer, he could see her face more clearly. She was crying, but her eyes were wide open, looking at him in fear and hope. Bauer reached out and gently took hold of her. When they broke through the surface, Bauer could hear shouts and cheers from above. The rescue team rushed towards Bauer to take the girl from his arms. Bauer looked down at the girl. She was still crying, but her grip on him had loosened. She looked at him with wide, grateful eyes. “It’s okay, sweetie,” Bauer said, trying to comfort her. “You’re safe now.” And as he looked into her eyes, he knew that this moment, this rescue, would stay with him forever. It was a reminder of the power of love and courage, and the importance of being there for each other in times of crisis. 词汇激活 行为类 ①设法成功做某事:manage to do sth./succeed in doing sth. ②哭泣:cry/weep ③安慰:comfort/console 情绪类 ①恐惧地:in fear/in terror ②感激的:grateful/appreciate 【点睛】【高分句型1】 As he got closer, he could see her face more clearly. These students were not just classmates; they were also good friends who believed in helping each other and growing together. One day, a new student named Lily joined their class. Lily was very shy and found it difficult to make friends. She spent most of her time alone, sitting quietly in the corner of the classroom and reading books during breaks. The other students noticed her and felt a sense of empathy (共情) . They knew that they had to do something to help Lily come out of her shell. Emma, one of the most popular girls in the class, went to Lily one day with a warm smile. She asked Lily if she would like to join their lunchtime club. The club was formed by the students who loved reading and discussing books. Lily hesitated for a moment but soon nodded shyly. As days went by, Lily started opening up more. The club became a place where she could express herself freely. The other students were happy to see Lily’s change. They took turns bringing their favorite books to share with Lily, making sure she felt included. One weekend, the students decided to have a picnic at the local park. They invited Lily to join them. Despite her nervousness, Lily agreed and arrived with a packed lunch and her favorite book. As they all sat together, sharing stories, laughter filled the air. Lily realized that she had found a group of friends who truly cared about her. They all had a great time. The next week, their teacher announced that each student was to prepare a book presentation. She practiced her presentation hard, knowing that this was an opportunity to showcase her growth and the bond she had formed with her friends. Finally, the big day arrived and Lily walked onto the stage. Lily took a deep breath. With a steady voice, she began to share the story of the book. Whenever she saw other children playing with new dolls or dressed in fancy outfits, Amy’s eyes would sparkle with envy and she wished she had them too. So she always asked her mother, “Mom, can I have this?” or “Mom, can I have that?” If her mom didn’t satisfy her need, Amy would respond with endless complaints or tears. She didn’t understand why she couldn’t possess what she desired. Her mother, a wise and loving woman, tried to reason with Amy. She explained that Amy already had so many toys and clothes. She said, “Amy, you’re lucky to have so much. Learn to be happy with what you have.” But Amy’s ears were deaf to her mother’s words. She could only see what she lacked, and her heart remained heavy with dissatisfaction. Amy’s discontentment affected her social life at high school. Her bad temper and constant complaints about what she lacked made it difficult for her to make friends. When Amy saw her desk mate Lily using new stationery (文具), she immediately said, “I have better ones.” Once, hearing some girls talking about their new dresses, she interrupted rudely, “My mom will buy me the same one, even nicer.” Other kids couldn’t bear her attitude and kept away from her gradually, which made Amy feel more lonely and unhappy. When Amy told her mother the “unfair treatment” she faced at school, her mother was deeply concerned about her. She knew that Amy’s constant dissatisfaction was not appropriate and would eventually ruin her happiness completely. “Something must be done.” she thought. After deep consideration, she decided to take a different approach. One day, she invited Amy to join her in volunteering at a local charity that helped the children there in need. Initially, Amy refused, but her mother’s determined attitude persuaded her successfully. 注意:1. 续写词数应为150左右; 2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 As they arrived at the charity, Amy’s eyes were opened to a world she had never known. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ That voluntary experience and the conversation with the children changed Amy’s life. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】One possible version: As they arrived at the charity, Amy’s eyes were opened to a world she had never known. Although children there wore the patched or secondhand clothes, she could see that their faces were bright with joy while playing with each other, which made her confused. So Amy decided to figure out the reasons. She asked them, “What make you satisfied with so little possessions?” A little boy replied, “Life is so hard for us and sometimes we didn’t have enough food. Therefore, we feel lucky to have your help. Thank you so much.” Hearing that, the other children nodded. Suddenly, it dawned on Amy that she had taken so much for granted and hadn’t appreciated the simple pleasures of life. That voluntary experience and the conversation with the children changed Amy’s life. From that day on, she began to reflect on her own attitude and realized how fortunate she was to have so much. To her mother’s surprise, Amy learned to be grateful and no longer complained about what she didn’t have. Besides, her gratitude also brought about changes in her school life. Amy’s positive attitude and appreciation made it easier for her to get along with other classmates, and soon, she began to make friends. Amy was also thankful for the opportunity offered by her mother that had led her to this point, which made her realize that happiness didn’t come from material possessions but from the awareness of satisfaction. 词汇激活 行为类 ①弄清楚:figure out/work out/find out ②回复:reply/respond/answer ③仔细思考:reflect on/meditate on/ponder over ④意识到:realize//recognize/be aware of 情绪类 ①快乐:joy/delight/happiness ②困惑的:confused/puzzled ⑤感恩的:grateful/thankful 【点睛】[高分句型1] Although children there wore the patched or secondhand clothes, she could see that their faces were bright with joy while playing with each other, which made her confused. “It’s not over,” I reasoned to myself, glancing into the bleachers (露天座位). “I’d just replace the next jump with the axel.” However, it didn’t work out the way I’d hoped. 注意:1. 续写词数应为150左右; 2. 请按如下格式在相应位置作答。 As I skated toward the exit, I felt everyone was looking at me with pity. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The performance going on, I rose up from the bleachers, determined to go home but my parents held me up. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Passage 2 (23-24高二上·安庆二中·期中) People often have a tough time dealing with their feelings of disappointment. 注意: 1.续写词数应为150个左右; 2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 As he opened the door, one of the female workers ran to him. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The two men nodded at one another and went on their way. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Passage 5 (24-25高一上·马鞍山二中·期中) At age 10, I stood in front of my new class, my new classmates looking at me with mild interest as my teacher introduced me. 注意: 1. 续写词数应为150左右; 2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 When I told my mom that I wanted very much to have Naan, she felt puzzled. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ I moved out of that school soon after and didn’t stay in touch with Kate. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Passage 6 (23-24高二上·安庆二中·期中) It was the worst day ever and I'll never forget it. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 主题02 人与社会——社会与文化 Passage 1 (23-24高二上·安师大附中·期中) A couple worked hard to provide for their family well, but their wealth came at the expense of their time. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Passage 2 (23-24高二上·安庆七中·期中) My aunt Sandy is a very kind-hearted woman. She had tried very hard to rescue her so she didn't want to lose her. When the son Bruce entered primary school, his father passed away. The mother Jane had to work tirelessly to raise Bruce. She worked hard on the farm. At night she did housework while Bruce studied. Year after year, as the walls became covered with his certificates (奖状), Bruce grew tall and strong. Sometimes, they didn’t even have enough to eat. In those hard times, every student at the high school had to bring 30 pounds of rice each month for the cafeteria (食堂). Bruce knew his mother couldn’t provide it, so he said: “Mother, I want to drop out and help you with the farm work.” Jane replied, “I’m glad you have such a thought, but you must continue your studies. Don’t worry. Go to school first, and I will bring the rice later.” Several days later, Jane arrived at the school with a bag of rice. The man in charge (主管) of the cafeteria, Gorge, opened the bag and took a handful of rice. He said. “Look, there’s early rice, late rice, and fine rice all mixed together. It’s hard to cook, If you bring mixed rice again. I won’t accept it.” With tears running down her cheeks, Jane said, “I’m so sorry. In fact, this rice is begged from others. I have rheumatism. There was a beautiful hare who was very good at running. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 主题02 人与自我——生活与学习 Passage 1 (24-25高二上·安徽池州·期中) When I was 16, my parents and I moved to a small town of Arizona. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Passage 2 (23-24高二上·安徽六安·期中) Jenny was the only child in her family. She had a quarrel (吵架) with her mother that afternoon and she ran out of the house angrily. But her dream didn’t come true. She was a clever and lively child, but her heart was often clouded by dissatisfaction. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 1 / 2 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
