It is the coldest area on Earth. There isn’t much rain, but there is a lot of snow and wind. The lowest temperature was on 21 July in 1983 at -89.2℃ ! Population Nobody lives in Antarctica all the time! The first people to stay there for a while were fishermen in 1786. Now there are about 5, 000 scientists and researchers there in the summer History of exploration (探险) During 1907-1909, British explorer Earnest Shackleton explored Antarctica on foot. In 1911, two explorers — a British man named Scott and a Norwegian named Amundsen — raced 1, 400 kilometres to the South Pole (南极). Amundsen arrived first. D.In 1911. 22.Who first stayed in Antarctica for some time? A.Fishermen. B.Scientists. C.Researchers. D.Explorers. 23.What animals or birds do not live in Antarctica? A.Penguins. B.Seabirds. C.Polar bears. D.Fish. B William Dunn is the founder of Take a Kid Fishing, a nonprofit (非营利的) organization in Lakeland, Florida, which teaches poor and fatherless kids through the sport of fishing. A dozen years ago, inspired by his six-year-old fatherless neighbor, Camran, who got angry and shouted at his mom, William asked Camran’s mom for permission to take Camran fishing. Camran was “hooked” from that first trip. The two fished together several times a week, and William saw positive changes in Camran’s behavior. “That’s when I realized that I had the duty to help fatherless kids,” he says. On weekends, William and a few other volunteers take 20 to 25 kids out fishing on a rental boat, which was supported by the captain of the Double Eagle. Many have never been fishing or even on a boat, so William —or Big Will, as the kids call him —starts by teaching the basic skills. Then come the life lessons that fishing offers: patience, team work and the simple joy of relaxing in the outdoors. Take a Kid Fishing has taken more than 600 fishing trips with almost 2,000 kids who don’t have a father in their lives. He wants to share his love of fishing with kids who don’t have a father to take them. “I just want to show them that I care about them, that I’m there for them,” he says. Because many kids go on many trips, William is able to build relationships with them. He and Camran, now 20, still regularly fish together, and Camran sees Big Will as a father figure. Take a Kid Fishing has a huge impact, but it started because William wanted to help one kid. Do you know a child who might benefit from your friendship? Introduce them to fishing or another hobby you enjoy. You can make a great difference to their life. 24.What does the underlined word “hooked” in Paragraph 2 mean? A.Bored. B.Attracted. C.Relaxed. D.Inspired. 25.What can we know from Paragraph 3? A.Few kids participated in the fishing trips. B.The kids were taught more than basic skills. C.The organization made lots of money from the kids. D.The fishing boat was sold to them by other volunteers. 26.Which of the following opinions will William Dunn agree with? A.An unhappy child needs a friend. B.Fatherless kids enjoy outdoor activities. C.An experienced captain should care for kids. D.Companionship plays an important role in kids’ lives. 27.Which can be a suitable title for the text? A.Fishing Offers Kids the Joy of Relaxing B.Friendship Has a Great Impact on Kids C.Fishing Changes Fatherless Kids’ Life D.The Love of Fishing Joins Family Together C Proudly reading my words, I glanced around the room, only to find my classmates bearing big smiles on their faces and tears in their eyes. Confused, I glanced toward my stone-faced teacher. Having no choice, I slowly raised the report I had worked hard on, hoping to hide myself. “What could be causing everyone to act this way?” Quickly, I flashed back to the day Miss Lancelot gave me the task. This was the first real task I received in my new school. It seemed simple: go on the Internet and find information about a man named George Washington. Since my idea of history came from an ancient teacher in my home country, I had never heard of that name before. As I searched the name of this fellow, it became evident that there were two people bearing the same name who looked completely different! One invented hundreds of uses for peanuts (花生), while the other led some sort of army across America. I stared at the screen, wondering which one my teacher meant. I called my grandfather for a golden piece of advice: flip (掷) a coin. Heads – the commander, and tails – the peanuts guy. Ah! Tails, my report would be about the great man who invented peanut butter, George Washington Carver. Weeks later, standing before this unfriendly mass, I was totally lost. Oh well, I lowered the paper and sat down at my desk, desperate to find out what I had done wrong. As a classmate began his report, it all became clear, “My report is on George Washington, the man who started the American Revolution (革命).” The whole world became quiet! How could I know that she meant that George Washington? Obviously, my grade was awful. Heartbroken but fearless, I decided to turn this around. I talked to Miss Lancelot, but she insisted: No re-dos; no new grade. I thought it was unfair, and I believed I deserved a second chance. Finally, I threw myself heartily into my work for the rest of the school year. Ten months later, that chance appeared as I found myself sitting in the headmaster’s office with my grandfather, now having an entirely different conversation. I smiled and flashed back to the embarrassing moment at the beginning of the year as the headmaster informed me of my choice to skip the sixth grade. Justice is sweet! 28.What did the author’s classmates think about his report? A.Informal. B.Funny. C.Creative. D.Confusing. 29.Why was the author uncertain about the task? A.He was a newcomer in the school. B.His grandfather’s advice didn’t work. C.He was unfamiliar with American history. D.He forgot what the teacher asked him to do. 30.What does the underlined word “desperate” in Paragraph 3 probably mean? A.Angry. B.Eager. C.Confident. D.Uninterested. 31.How did the author turn things around in the end? A.By redoing the task. B.With the help of the teacher. C.By working hard for several months. D.By telling the headmaster the whole thing. D In the last hundred years, the Bali mynah (巴厘岛白椋鸟) has been sought after for its white feathers and blue skin. The capture for sale along with the bird’s habitat loss led to its being listed as “threatened” in 1988. Now, conservationists are hoping to increase the mynah population by working with bird breeders (繁育者) and sellers to release them into the wild. Breeders can seek government permits to breed the birds. If approved, breeders are given mynahs and can keep 90 percent of the baby birds for private sale. The remaining birds are released at the National Park, where they will be closely watched by park officials. Early mynah releases faced problems. Some birds were infected with some diseases; others were killed by natural hunters. Illegal hunting also continued — the national park’s breeding center was even robbed, with nearly 40 birds stolen. Yet conservation efforts in the last ten years have seen greater success. Tom Squires, a famous conservationist, said, “Bird keepers can still keep birds and follow their hobby without causing real problems for wild populations — which is better than species going extinct in the world.” Agus Ngurah, also a well-known conservationist, praised the program. “With the community being the breeders... they are helping us to take care of the birds existing in nature,” he said. Squires noted that there is clear evidence that some release d birds have produced young ones. “So that leads me to believe that the population is certainly self-sustaining to an extent,” he said. Meanwhile, 420 Bali mynahs are now found living in the National Park. According to Logan William, another conservationist, “The government should give something back to the community so they can feel the benefits from conservation, and the bird can also benefit.” 28.Why is the mynah hunted by humans? A.They are pests. B.They taste good. C.They look beautiful. D.They are countless. 29.How many problems did early releases face? A.Two. B.Three. C.Four. D.Five. 30.What can we infer from the three conservationists’ words? A.The government contributes the least. B.Bird keepers can keep the birds freely. C.The efforts of protecting the mynah have paid off. D.The community can breed birds for profits completely. 31.What might be the writer’s attitude to the breeding programme? A.Approving. B.Critical. C.Doubtful. D.Opposed. Have you ever wondered why it feels so satisfying to sing in the shower? You are alone. You are warm. The air is moist, making your throat feel wet. 36 You’re at once relaxed and pleasantly energized by the water. Little can take you away from the simple tasks at hand. You control the speed and pitch. And the bathroom provides wonderful resonance (共鸣). Now imagine singing while driving. You are sitting, stuck by a tight seat belt that limits airflow. Without any warm-up, you probably start right in with the first song you hear. The air is drier. And to stay awake, you may be drinking coffee, which can make you thirsty. 37 While singing along to the radio, your voice may get lost in the noise of the song and the car. From my personal experience, I realize the importance of not only focusing but also setting the right conditions during practice. 38 This is why some argue against baseball players practising hitting before a game. They try hitting different types of throws, even slower ones that they wouldn’t see in a real game. 39 To warm up, I practise deep breathing exercises and relax my tongue with “blah blah blahs.” Brightening my face helps make my sound more energetic. My voice becomes richer and stronger when I practise opening up my mouth by yawning, imagining the back of my mouth expanding like a frog’s. I also adjust the way I stand. 40 A.Practice makes perfect. B.You are standing up straight. C.You are loudly clearing your throat. D.Poor training may lead to poor results. E.The stress of driving and staying safe keeps you tense. F.After all, an upright guitar wouldn’t sound right if it was bent. G.I always try to recreate the great feeling of singing in the shower wherever I am. About 15 years ago, Oliver Muensterer packed his suitcase and traveled from his home in Leipzig, Germany, to a town a few hours away for a job 41 to take place the next day. Her husband died two years ago. She had no children and no relatives that we knew of. She was gentle and kind, and my sister Laurel and I considered her our special friend. One December, Mrs. Miller was ill in hospital. Laurel and I were busy making Christmas presents, and we wondered what to make for Mrs. Miller. We couldn’t bear seeing her come home before Christmas to an empty house with no holiday decorations. Then we lit upon the idea of decorating a small tree that would greet her with lights and cheer. We were wondering how to carry out our plan when the answer appeared. I was in Miss Johnson’s sixth grade class that year, and we decorated a small tree with paper-link chains and ornaments (装饰物) we’d made in art class. It was beautiful. Best of all, it had to be removed from the classroom before Christmas vacation. Miss Johnson said there would be a drawing (抽签) for the tree. We’d each write our name on a piece of paper and put it in the box she had prepared. On the last day of school before vacation, she’d draw a name from the box, and that student could take the tree home. Great! That was exactly what I was longing for! So I wrote my name “Helen Wheeler” neatly on a piece of paper and folded it carefully. As I put it into the box, I whispered to Miss Johnson that I really hoped I’d win the tree because my sister and I wanted to give it to our neighbor who was sick and lonely. Though there were 30 children in the class and each might win the tree, I was somehow certain that I would get it because our cause was good: We wanted to make Mrs. Miller happy. The day before vacation finally arrived. Laurel and I usually walked to and from school, but that day I persuaded Mom to pick us up in her car after school in case I really got the tree. Paragraph 1: Before school was over, Miss Johnson announced it was time for the drawing. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Paragraph 2: The next evening we welcomed Mrs. Miller back at her door. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 试题 第3页(共6页) 试题 第4页(共6页) 试题 第5页(共6页) 试题 第6页(共6页) 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 2025-2026学年高二英语选择性必修第一册单元测试 (四川专用) Unit 5·培优卷 学校:___________班级:___________姓名:___________分数:___________ (时间:120分钟,满分:150分) 注意事项: 1. 1.What drink will the man order? _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 1/3 1/3 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 2025-2026学年高二英语选择性必修第一册单元测试 (四川专用) Unit 5·培优卷 学校:___________班级:___________姓名:___________分数:___________ (时间:120分钟,满分:150分) 注意事项: 1. 1.What drink will the man order? Each bike is designed with the logo “Nice Ride” — the name of the city’s bike-share program. Nice Ride bikes are a lot like the library books that people come here to borrow. To rent a bike, you simply use your membership card at a Nice Ride bike station. Members can rent one of 1,200 bikes from 138 stations throughout Minnesota’s (明尼苏达州) largest city. People use the Nice Ride bikes to go to work, to go out on business, or just to enjoy the city’s many bike paths. The rise of bike-share programs like Nice Ride is encouraging more people than ever to choose biking over driving. Increasing gas prices and concerns about the environment have also gotten people to travel by bike. Bike-share systems are found around the world in cities like London, Paris, Barcelona, and Melbourne, Australia. The largest program with 70,000 bikes is in Wuhan, China. To make roads friendlier to non-motorists, the US Department of Transportation has invested more than a billion dollars in cycling in recent years. Because many kids go on many trips, William is able to build relationships with them.(他想和那些没有父亲带他们的孩子们分享他对钓鱼的热爱。 根据文章第一段“William Dunn is the founder of Take a Kid Fishing, a nonprofit(非营利的)organization in Lakeland, Florida, which teaches poor and fatherless kids through the sport of fishing.( William Dunn是“Take a Kid Fishing”组织的创始人,这是一个位于佛罗里达州莱克兰的非营利组织,通过钓鱼运动来教育贫困和没有父亲的孩子。)”以及文章第三段“Many have never been fishing or even on a boat, so William —or Big Will, as the kids call him —starts by teaching the basic skills. Then come the life lessons that fishing offers: patience, team work and the simple joy of relaxing in the outdoors.(许多人从来没有钓过鱼,甚至没有上过船,所以William——孩子们叫他“大威尔”——从教授基本技能开始。 C。 C Proudly reading my words, I glanced around the room, only to find my classmates bearing big smiles on their faces and tears in their eyes. 根据第一段“Proudly reading my words, I glanced around the room, only to find my classmates bearing big smiles on their faces and tears in their eyes. 根据第二段“Since my idea of history came from an ancient teacher in my home country, I had never heard of that name before. As I searched the name of this fellow, it became evident that there were two people bearing the same name who looked completely different! One invented hundreds of uses for peanuts, while the other led some sort of army across America. I stared at the screen, wondering which one my teacher meant.(因为我的历史观念来自于我祖国的一位高龄老师,所以我从来没有听说过这个名字。 根据第三段的“I lowered the paper and sat down at my desk(我放下文章,坐在书桌前)”,“find out what I had done wrong(找出我做错了什么)”和“As a classmate began his report, it all became clear(当一位同学开始他的报告时,一切都变得清晰起来)”可知,作者完全蒙了,急切想知道自己犯了什么错误。 根据最后一段的“I felt that the punishment was not justified, and I believed I deserved a second chance. As a result, I threw myself heartily into my work for the rest of the school year. Ten months later, that chance unfolded as I found myself sitting in the headmaster’s office with my grandfather, now having an entirely different conversation.(我觉得惩罚是不合理的,我相信我应该得到第二次机会。 C。 D In the last hundred years, the Bali mynah (巴厘岛白椋鸟) has been sought after for its white feathers and blue skin. B.Critical. C.Doubtful. D.Opposed. 根据第一段“In the last hundred years, the Bali mynah (巴厘岛白椋鸟) has been sought after for its white feathers and blue skin.(在过去的一百年里,巴厘岛白椋鸟因其白色的羽毛和蓝色的皮肤而一直受到人们的追捧)”可知,白椋鸟因其外表美丽而被人类猎杀。故选C项。 29. Some birds were infected with some diseases; others were killed by natural hunters. Illegal hunting also continued — the national park’s breeding center was even robbed, with nearly 40 birds stolen.(早期的白椋鸟放归面临了问题。 根据第五段中环保人士Agus Ngurah所说“With the community being the breeders... they are helping us to take care of the birds existing in nature,(由于社区是繁殖者……他们正在帮助我们照顾自然中存在的鸟类)”、第六段中环保人士Squires提到的“there is clear evidence that some release d birds have produced young ones. ‘So that leads me to believe that the population is certainly self-sustaining to an extent,’(有明确的证据表明,一些被放归的鸟已经产下了幼鸟。“这让我相信,这个种群在一定程度上肯定是自给自足的)”和最后一段中环保人士Logan William所说“The government should give something back to the community so they can feel the benefits from conservation, and the bird can also benefit.(政府应该回馈社区,这样他们就能感受到保护的好处,鸟类也能从中受益)”可推知,从三位保护主义者的话中我们可以推断出,保护白椋鸟的努力已经取得了成效。故选C项。 31. 故选A项。 Have you ever wondered why it feels so satisfying to sing in the shower? 36.根据上文“Have you ever wondered why it feels so satisfying to sing in the shower? You are alone. You are warm. The air is moist, making your throat feel wet.(你有没有想过为什么在淋浴时唱歌会让人感到如此满足?你是孤独的。你是温暖的。空气潮湿,使你的喉咙感到湿润)”以及后文“You’re at once relaxed and pleasantly energized by the water. Little can take you away from the simple tasks at hand. You control the speed and pitch. And the bathroom provides wonderful resonance (共鸣).(在水里,你会立刻感到放松和愉悦。没有什么能让你离开手头的简单任务。你控制速度和俯仰。浴室提供了美妙的共鸣)”可知,本句与上文并列,都是在描述淋浴的时候人的行为动作。故B选项“你在站直”符合语境,故选B。 37.根据上文“Now imagine singing while driving. My voice becomes richer and stronger when I practise opening up my mouth by yawning, imagining the back of my mouth expanding like a frog’s. I also adjust the way I stand.(为了热身,我做深呼吸练习,用“blah blah blah”来放松舌头。让我的脸变得明亮有助于让我的声音更有活力。当我通过打哈欠练习张开嘴巴,想象我的嘴巴后部像青蛙一样张开时,我的声音变得更丰满、更有力。我也调整了站立的方式)”以及第一段描述洗澡时唱歌的动作,可知后文是在根据淋浴时的状态调整。故G选项“无论我在哪里,我总是试图重现淋浴时唱歌的美妙感觉”符合语境,故选G。 40.根据上文“I also adjust the way I stand. (我也调整了站立的方式)”可知,本句承接上文,说明调整站立方式的原因。故F选项“毕竟,一把直立的吉他如果是弯曲的,声音就不好听了”符合语境,故选F。 第三部分 语言运用(共两节,满分30分) 第一节(共15小题:每小题1分,满分15分) 阅读下面短文, 从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。 About 15 years ago, Oliver Muensterer packed his suitcase and traveled from his home in Leipzig, Germany, to a town a few hours away for a job 41 to take place the next day. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 Before school was over, Miss Johnson announced it was time for the drawing. My heart beat fast as Miss Johnson put her hand into the box and drew one folded piece of paper out. Then she unfolded the paper, looked at it and announced. “Helen has won the tree!” I was beside myself with excitement! And I’ll never forget the astonishment on my mother’s face as my sister and I carried the tree to her car. Since Mom had a key to Mrs. Miller’s house, we took the tree straight to her living room and set it up on a table. It looked so beautiful! The next evening we welcomed Mrs. Miller back at her door. She slowly made her way into the house and turned on the lights, greeted by the sparkling Christmas tree. Mrs. Miller was rooted to the spot, looking surprised. Then a sweet smile appeared on her face and tears welled up in her eyes. “Thank you so much.” she said softly. While Laurel and I were excitedly telling the story to our parents, it suddenly dawned on me that Miss Johnson had helped me in a secret way: Though she had announced my name, she never showed anyone what was written on that piece of paper! 词汇激活 行为类 跳动:beat/ pound 打开:unfold/open 出现:appear/show up 情绪类 激动:with excitement /excitedly 惊讶:surprised / astonishment/amazed 【点睛】[高分句型1] Since Mom had a key to Mrs. Miller’s house, we took the tree straight to her living room and set it up on a table.
