B Bighorn sheep migrate (迁徙) on long journeys, following a wave of green as plants come to life. Instinct doesn’t teach this but culture does. Large migrations are some of nature’s greatest scenes. Wildebeest and zebra chase the rains through the Mara ecosystem every year, monarch butterflies trace a path from Mexico to Canada and back, and tiny songbirds fly nonstop for days at a time. And now scientists are starting to figure out how they know where to go, and when. Wildlife researchers have long suspected that large mammals like bighorn sheep and moose require experience to migrate effectively, that their annual journeys are the result of learning from one another, not of genetic inheritance (遗传). The existence of collective information and knowledge, that can be passed from older animals to younger ones, is a form of “culture”. “The ungulates (有蹄动物) that have been moved shouldn’t migrate, because they wouldn’t yet have learned a new migration route. With bighorn sheep and moose, and this is true for deer and elk as well, the young are highly dependent on their mothers. For pretty much the first year of life, they’re basically following mom around,” says Kauffman. And of the 80 sheep having changed their location, only seven even attempted a migration, and these were individuals that had been in pre-existing herds of several hundred migrating sheep. This isn’t to say that ungulates couldn’t have some motivation in their blood to find out new opportunities. The issue is knowing how to do so while staying; safe. “Knowing how to get from A to B usually involves crossing some habitats where there is a higher risk of predation, where maybe food conditions aren’t very good, so animals need to know where to go. That’s the part that needs to be learned,” says University of Sherbrooke biologist Marco Festa-Blanchet. 24.What can we infer from the last sentence of paragraph one? A.Bighorn sheep are not born to migrate. B.Bighorn sheep follow instinct to migrate. C.Bighorn sheep migrate on short journeys. D.Bighorn sheep migrate following a wave of green 25.According to the passage, what do large mammals like bighorn sheep and moose rely on for effective migration? A.Genetic inheritance. B.Weather changes. C.Experience from their elder. D.Seasonal food availability. 26.What conclusion can we come to according to Kauffman? A.The ungulates know the migration route naturally. B.The ungulates are only dependent on their mothers. C.The ungulates learn to migrate mainly from their mothers. D.The ungulates learn to migrate properly by genetic inheritance. 27.What problem may young animals attempting migration be faced with? A.They always follow large herds. B.They struggle without prior experience. C.They have a strong genetic drive to migrate. D.They easily find safe routes without guidance. C Bertie knew there was something in the wind. His mother had been sad in recent days, not sick, just strangely sad. The lion had just lain down beside him, his head warm on Bertie’s feet, when Father cleared his throat and began, “You’ll soon be eight, Bertie. A boy needs a proper education. We’ve found the right place for you, a school near Salisbury in England.” His heart filled with a terrible fear, all Bertie could think of was his white lion. “But the lion,” he cried, “What about the lion?” “I’m afraid there’s something else I have to tell you,” his father said. Looking across at Bertie’s mother, he took a deep breath. Then he told Bertie he had met a circus owner from France, who was over in Africa looking for lions to buy. He would come to their farm in a few days. “No! You can’t send him to a circus!” said Bertie. “He’ll be shut up behind bars. I promised him he never would be. And they will come to see him and laugh at him. He’d rather die. Any animal would!” But as he looked across the table at them, he knew their minds were quite made up. Bertie felt completely betrayed. He waited until he heard his father’s deep breathing next door. With his white lion at his heels, he crept downstairs in his pyjamas, took down his father’s rifle from the rack and stepped out into the night. He ran and ran till his legs could run no more. As the sun came up over the grassland, he climbed to the top of a hill and sat down, his arms round the lion’s neck. The time had come. “Be wild now,” he whispered. “You’ve got to be wild. Don’t ever come home. All my life I’ll think of you, I promise I will.” He buried his head in the lion’s neck. Then, Bertie clambered down off the hill and walked away. When he looked back, the lion was still sitting there watching him; but then he stood up, yawned, stretched, and sprang down after him. Bertie shouted at him, but he kept coming. He threw sticks. He threw stones. Nothing worked. There was only one thing left to do. Tears filling his eyes and his mouth, he lifted the rifle to his shoulder and fired over the lion’s head. 28.Bertie’s mother was sad probably because she________. A.had lied about her good health condition B.had decided to send Bertie to a new school C.knew selling the lion would upset Bertie D.knew Bertie would hate to go to England 29.The underlined word “they” in Paragraph 4 probably refers to________. A.some audience B.other animals C.Bertie’s friends D.circus’s owners 30.In the last paragraph, the boy lifted the rifle at the lion to________. A.kill the lion out of helplessness B.protect himself from being chased C.threaten the lion back to the wild D.show his anger towards his father 31.The passage intends to show that________. A.circuses are the last places for animals to live B.animals belonging to the wild should be set free C.parents are sometimes cruel to their children D.people and animals can be faithful to each other D As you leave the Bandhavgarh National Park in India, there is a notice which shows a huge tiger. The notice says, “You may not have seen me, but I have seen you.” There are more than a billion people in India and Indian tigers probably see humans every single day. Tigers can and do kill almost anything they meet in the jungle. However, it is a little strange that attacks on humans are not that frequent. Some people might argue that these attacks were in fact common in the past. But there were far more tigers around in those days. So, to some extent, attacks appear to have been as rare then as they are today. People think it is because of fears, but what exactly are tigers afraid of? Can they really know that we may be even better armed than they are? Surely not. Has the species programmed the experiences of all tigers with humans into its genes to be inherited as instinct? Perhaps. But I think the explanation may be simpler and, in a way, more interesting. I suspect that a tiger’s fear of humans lies in the way he actually observes us visually. Imagine a tiger sees a man who is 1.8 meters tall. A tiger is less than 1 meter tall but he may be up to 3 meters long from head to tail. So when a tiger sees the man face on, it might not be unreasonable for him to assume that the man is 6 meters long. If he met a deer of this size, he might attack the animal by leaping on its back, but when he looks behind the man, he can’t see a back. From the front the man is huge, but looked at from the side he all but disappears. This must be very disturbing. A hunter has to be confident that it can kill its prey, and no one is confident when they are disconcerted. The opposite is true of a squatting human. A squatting human is half the size and presents twice the spread of back, and appears like a medium-sized deer. Many incidents of attacks on people involve villagers bending over to cut grass. The fact that humans stand upright may not just distinguish them from other species, but also help them to survive in an unpredictable environment. 32.As for some people’s opinion on tiger attacks, the author is ________. A.objective B.unconcerned C.supportive D.disapproving 33.Why does the author raise three questions in Paragraph 3? A.To present assumptions. B.To evaluate arguments. C.To question findings. D.To confirm opinions. 34.What does the underlined word “disconcerted” in Paragraph 4 probably mean? A.Confused. B.Annoyed. C.Depressed. D.Surprised. 35.What can we learn from the last two paragraphs? A.It is the genes that cause the tiger’s fear of humans. B.It is hard for a tiger to make out the shape of humans. C.Tigers sense the danger the moment they spot humans. D.Tigers are less confident when facing squatting humans. Self-love and healthy relationships cannot be separated. Self-love is the core (核心) of any healthy relationship. 36 Basically, it is to truly accept who you are and what your worth is. Now you might wonder how self-love builds healthy relationships. First, when you know your worth, you know what you are willing to accept in a relationship and what not. 37 You will have a clear understanding of what you need, what your values are, and your limits. 38 A person who truly loves themselves has a better understanding of life and is more likely to communicate well during arguments (争论). They know how important it is to share their thoughts and feelings clearly and with respect, which helps them deal with disagreements in a healthier way. What’s more, self-love contributes to choosing an emotionally healthy partner. When you feel good about yourself, you’re less likely to get into harmful relationships. At the same time, taking care of your own emotions makes you emotionally balanced, which helps you understand and connect with your partner better. 39 So now you know that self-love and healthy relationships are practically inseparable. 40 They depend on each other for your happiness because self-love will encourage you to have better limits, a healthier understanding of yourself, and better emotional intelligence(情商). A.It is not the truth. B.Self-love is not selfish. C.You will know where to set limits. D.One cannot grow without the other. E.There is some advice for helping others. In groups, we were to create a newspaper around the culture we were studying. On a piece of paper, we wrote the names of three friends we wanted in our group. After collecting all the requests, Mrs. Bartlett informed us that she would take into consideration the names we chose and would let us know the results the next day. I had no doubt I would get the group of my choice. There were only a handful of sociably decent people in the class, and Missy was one of them. I knew we had chosen each other. The next day, I anxiously awaited the class. After the bell rang, Missy and I stopped talking as Mrs. Bartlett called for our attention. She started to call out names. When she reached group three, Missy’s name was called. So I’m in group three, I thought. The second, third and fourth members of the group were called. My name was not included. There had to be some mistake! Then I heard it. The last group: “Mauro, Juliette, Rachel, Karina.” I could feel the tears well in my eyes. How could I face being in that group the boy who barely spoke English, the one  girl who was always covered by skirts that went down to her ankles, and the other girl who wore weird clothes. Oh, how badly I wanted to be with my friends. After class, I fought back tears as I walked up to Mrs. Bartlett’s office. She looked at me and knew what I was there for. I was determined to convince her I should be in the “good” group. “Why. . . ?” I started. Mrs.Bartlett sat me down and began to talk. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ I bravely walked to the last group. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 试题 第3页(共6页) 试题 第4页(共6页) 试题 第5页(共6页) 试题 第6页(共6页) 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 2025-2026学年高一英语必修第二册单元测试 (四川专用) Unit 6·培优卷 学校:___________班级:___________姓名:___________分数:___________ (时间:120分钟,满分:150分) 注意事项: 1. 1.What language is the woman best at? ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 1/3 1/3 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 2025-2026学年高一英语必修第二册单元测试 (四川专用) Unit 6·培优卷 学校:___________班级:___________姓名:___________分数:___________ (时间:120分钟,满分:150分) 注意事项: 1. 1.What language is the woman best at? I really wanted to volunteer at a national park, but I was too late to apply so I went for a job at a diving center. This turned out to be better than what I considered, like helping in a school. When it comes to packing, obviously you need your travel documents, your phone and charger. Then think about any medicine you might need. How did I stay in touch with family? When I first arrived, I wrote a letter every week. They took at least four weeks to arrive though. Then, when I met someone else who had a blog, I realized that that’s the thing to do. A phone call is nice, but the time difference can make that difficult. There are lots of things you’ll need to adapt to when you’re in another country. The language of course. But luckily, so many people speak English. And I knew I’d struggle with the hot food. I hadn’t realized the effect the climate would have on us, though. Generally speaking, I really enjoyed my time away. It’s a good way to make friends, and you gain confidence too. A There are a number of events going on this weekend and in the days ahead at the Cooperage, located at 1030 Main Street in Honesdale. Instinct doesn’t teach this but culture does. Large migrations are some of nature’s greatest scenes. 根据第一段“Instinct doesn’t teach this but culture does.(本能无法传授这一点,但文化却能)”可推知,大角羊不是生来就会迁徙的。故选A。 25. 根据第三段“The existence of collective information and knowledge, that can be passed from older animals to younger ones, is a form of “culture”.(存在一种集体的信息和知识,这种信息能够由年长的动物传递给年幼的动物,这就是一种“文化”的表现形式)”可知,迁徙行为依赖于经验学习和群体知识传递。故选C。 26. 根据第四段“With bighorn sheep and moose, and this is true for deer and elk as well, the young are highly dependent on their mothers. For pretty much the first year of life, they’re basically following mom around, (这里有大角羊和驼鹿,对于鹿和麋鹿来说也是如此,幼崽们非常依赖它们的母亲。在出生后的头一年里,它们基本上就是跟着母亲到处走)”可知,有蹄动物主要是通过它们的母亲来学习迁徙的。故选C。 27.推理判断题。根据第五段“Knowing how to get from A to B usually involves crossing some habitats where there is a higher risk of predation, where maybe food conditions aren’t very good, so animals need to know where to go. That’s the part that needs to be learned, (要知道如何从A点到达B点,通常就需要穿越一些可能存在捕食风险的栖息地,而且那里的食物条件可能也不太好,所以动物们需要知道该往哪里去。这就是需要学习的部分)”可知,幼年动物如果没有经验或指导,会面临困难。故选B。 C Bertie knew there was something in the wind. A.circuses are the last places for animals to live B.animals belonging to the wild should be set free C.parents are sometimes cruel to their children D.people and animals can be faithful to each other 【答案】28.C 29.A 30.C 31.D 【导语】本文是一篇记叙文。 根据第一段中的“A boy needs a proper education. We’ve found the right place for you, a school near Salisbury in England. (男孩需要适当的教育。我们为你找到了合适的地方,英格兰索尔兹伯里附近的一所学校)”和第三段中的“Looking across at Bertie’s mother, he took a deep breath. Then he told Bertie he had met a circus owner from France, who was over in Africa looking for lions to buy. He would come to their farm in a few days. (他望着伯蒂的母亲,深吸了一口气。然后他告诉伯蒂,他遇到了一个来自法国的马戏团老板,他正在非洲寻找要买的狮子。 过几天他就会到他们的农场来)”可知,博蒂长大了父母想让他去上学,父母想把他养的一头狮子卖给马戏团。由此推知,母亲可能认为把狮子卖了,会让博蒂伤心,所以作为母亲也感到有些难过。故选C。 29.词句猜测题。根据划线词上文““No! You can’t send him to a circus!” said Bertie. (“不!你不能把他送去马戏团!”博蒂说)”及“He’ll be shut up behind bars. I promised him he never would be. (他将被关进笼子里。我向他保证他永远不会)”和下文“will come to see him and laugh at him. (会来看他并嘲笑他)”可推知,划线词they指代那些来看狮子的观众。故选A。 30. 根据倒数第三段中的““Be wild now,” he whispered. “You’ve got to be wild. Don’t ever come home. All my life I’ll think of you, I promise I will.” He buried his head in the lion’s neck. Then, Bertie clambered down off the hill and walked away. (“野性一点吧,”他低声说。“你必须要野性。永远不要回家。我这一生都会想念你,我保证。”他把头埋在狮子的脖子里。然后,博蒂从山上爬下来,走开了)”及倒数第二段“When he looked back, the lion was still sitting there watching him; but then he stood up, yawned, stretched, and sprang down after him. Bertie shouted at him, but he kept coming. He threw sticks. He threw stones. Nothing worked. D。 D As you leave the Bandhavgarh National Park in India, there is a notice which shows a huge tiger. 【答案】32.D 33.A 34.A 35.B 【导语】这是一篇议论文。 根据第二段“Some people might argue that these attacks were in fact common in the past. But there were far more tigers around in those days. So, to some extent, attacks appear to have been as rare then as they are today. (有些人可能会争辩说,这些攻击实际上在过去很常见。但那时候老虎的数量要多得多。因此,从某种程度上说,袭击事件在当时和今天一样罕见)”可知,对于一些人对老虎袭击的看法,作者不赞成。故选D。 33.推理判断题。根据第三段“People think it is because of fears, but what exactly are tigers afraid of? Can they really know that we may be even better armed than they are? Surely not. Has the species programmed the experiences of all tigers with humans into its genes to be inherited as instinct? Perhaps. But I think the explanation may be simpler and, in a way, more interesting.(人们认为这是因为恐惧,但老虎到底害怕什么?他们真的知道我们的武器装备比他们更好吗?当然不是。这个物种是否将所有老虎与人类相处的经历编入了自己的基因,并作为本能遗传了下来?也许。但我认为解释可能更简单,在某种程度上也更有趣)”可推知,作者在第3段提出了三个问题是为了提出假设。故选A。 34. 根据划线词上文“A hunter has to be confident that it can kill its prey, and no one is confident when they are”可知,猎人必须对自己能杀死猎物充满信心,而没有人在对猎物感到困惑时是自信的。 故选A。 35. 根据倒数第二段“I suspect that a tiger’s fear of humans lies in the way he actually observes us visually. Imagine a tiger sees a man who is 1.8 meters tall. A tiger is less than 1 meter tall but he may be up to 3 meters long from head to tail. So when a tiger sees the man face on, it might not be unreasonable for him to assume that the man is 6 meters long. If he met a deer of this size, he might attack the animal by leaping on its back, but when he looks behind the man, he can’t see a back.(我怀疑老虎对人类的恐惧来自于它观察人类的视觉方式。想象一只老虎看到一个1.8米高的人。老虎不到1米高,但从头到尾可达3米长。因此,当老虎看到这个人的脸时,它可能会认为这个人有6米长。如果他遇到这么大的鹿,他可能会跳到它的背上攻击它,但当他看那个人的背后时,他看不到背影)”以及最后一段“The opposite is true of a squatting human. A squatting human is half the size and presents twice the spread of back, and appears like a medium-sized deer.(而蹲着的人则相反。一个蹲着的人只有一半的大小,两倍的背部伸展,看起来像一只中等大小的鹿)”可知,老虎很难辨认出人的形状。故选B。 第二节(共5小题:每小题2. 5分, 满分12. 5分) 阅读下面短文, 从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 Self-love and healthy relationships cannot be separated. The battle for the top spot on the U. K.’s university leaderboards is a serious 57 (busy). But the most famous contest 58 the two universities is certainly the annual Boat Races. The first boat race was started by two old school friends, Charles Wordsworth and Charles Merivale. The old friends met up one day in Cambridge, and while 61 (row) on the river Cam they decided to set up 62 challenge between their respective universities. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】      Mr. Bartlett sat me down and began to talk. Let me have a go!” I couldn’t believe it came out of my mouth, but it did. I had committed. I thought that I was given a chance to see my classmates in a new light. I bravely walked to the last group. I sat down and we started to create a newspaper. Different newspaper columns were assigned according to our interests. Then we did research. I really wanted to volunteer at a national park, but I was too late to apply, so I went for a job at a diving center. This turned out to be Better than what I considered like helping in a school. When IT comes to packing, obviously you need your travel documents, your phone and charger. Then think about any medicine you might need. How did I stay in touch with family? When I first arrived, I wrote a letter every week. They took at least four weeks to arrive, though. Then when I met someone else who had a blog, I realized that that's the thing to do. A phone call is nice, but the time difference can make that difficult. There are lots of things you'll need to adapt to when you're in another country. The language, of course, but luckily so many people speak english. And I knew i'd struggle with the hot food. I hadn't realized the effect that climate would have on us. So generally speaking, I really enjoyed my time away. It's a good way to make friends and you gain confidence too.
