Wang Sibo, the first person in Chinese light painting art, is skilled at creating light paintings in a Chinese style. Using light as ink and night as canvas (画布), he adds ancient cultural elements into modern art to create amazing works.
Light painting is the process of catching the movement of light sources in a dark environment through long exposure, resulting in various abstract images. For example, if one wants to paint a dragon, they can use a light source to “draw” the dragon in front of the camera, and the camera will record the orbit of the light source, creating a photo that shows a shining dragon.
Several years ago, Wang Sibo was a professional rugby player. However, in 2012, a major surgery stopped him from continuing his former passion. Fortunately, light painting accompanied him during the darkest period. By chance, Wang Sibo came into contact with the light painting works of the master Picasso, and after that, he found a new direction in life.
Since taking up light painting, Wang Si bo has kept improving his skills, with a special fondness for Chinese dragons. After two years of devoted work, he and his team finally created a surprising masterpiece showcasing the dragon's form and charm.
In 2018, Wang Sibo and his team made history by creating “Dragon Dance in China” — a 670-square-meter light painting that set the Guinness World Record for the “largest light painting pattern”. However, this was just the beginning. In 2021, they once again broke the world record for the largest light painting with “The Elegy of Light”. Wang Sibo made a new breakthrough in 2023 with “Awakening Lion,” completed by 328 people, earning the first-ever record for “the most people meanwhile creating a light painting.” In this way, Wang Sibo, with his Chinese-style light painting, has stood at the top of the world many times.
Wang Sibo will continue to use light as a tool to illuminate (照亮) the path of traditional culture and convey its value and significance to the audience.
24. What is the function of the example given in paragraph 2?
A. To illustrate light painting. B. To compare light sources.
C. To promote a new technique. D. To emphasize long exposure.
25. What can be inferred from Wang Sibo's experience?
A. Life is never a smooth sailing. B. Confidence makes a big difference.
C. Role models are of great significance. D. Adversity can bring new opportunities.
26. What does paragraph 5 mainly talk about concerning Wang Sibo?
A. The significance of his light paintings. B. The unique charm of his light paintings.
C. His efforts to set the Guinness World Record. D. His remarkable achievements in light painting.
27. Which of the following can best describe Wang Sibo?
A. Hardworking and pioneering. B. Enthusiastic and humorous.
C. Outgoing and warm-hearted. D. Talented and caring.
A 25. D 26. D 27. A

根据第二段“Light painting is the process of catching the movement of light sources in a dark environment through long exposure, resulting in various abstract images. For example, if one wants to paint a dragon, they can use a light source to “draw” the dragon in front of the camera, and the camera will record the orbit of the light source, creating a photo that shows a shining dragon. (光绘是通过长时间曝光在黑暗环境中捕捉光源运动的过程,从而产生各种抽象图像。例如,如果一个人想画一条龙,他们可以在相机前用光源“画”龙,相机会记录光源的轨迹,从而创造出一张闪亮的龙的照片。)”可知,第二段先介绍了光绘的定义,随后通过举例“画龙”来进一步解释说明光绘是如何进行的,所以第二段中给出的例子的作用是解释说明光绘。故选A项。
根据第三段“Several years ago, Wang Sibo was a professional rugby player. However, in 2012, a major surgery stopped him from continuing his former passion. Fortunately, light painting accompanied him during the darkest period. By chance, Wang Sibo came into contact with the light painting works of the master Picasso, and after that, he found a new direction in life.
根据第五段“In 2018, Wang Sibo and his team made history by creating “Dragon Dance in China” — a 670-square-meter light painting that set the Guinness World Record for the “largest light painting pattern”.
根据第四段“Since taking up light painting, Wang Si bo has kept improving his skills, with a special fondness for Chinese dragons. After two years of devoted work, he and his team finally created a surprising masterpiece showcasing the dragon's form and charm. (自从开始光绘以来,王思博一直在不断提高自己的技艺,尤其喜爱中国龙。经过两年的潜心创作,他和他的团队终于创作出了一幅展现龙的形态和魅力的惊世杰作。)”以及第五段中介绍王思博多次打破吉尼斯世界纪录可知,王思博在光绘领域非常努力且取得了开创性的成就,由此可推知,王思博是勤奋且具有开创精神的。故选A项。

Children should be encouraged to play puzzles in school, says the creator of the Rubik’s Cube(魔方).
Rubik, a former professor in Hungary, created the Cube in 1974 as a teaching tool to help students understand how the concept(概念) of space could be seen and used. According to him, puzzles such as the Rubik’s Cube mirror the challenges we face in the real world, offering a hands-on approach to problem-solving. The reward is the solution itself, and the drive to get there is simply the curiosity and perseverance that we share as humans.
Judit Polgar, regarded as the strongest female chess player of all time, agreed. She said, “Chess of course adds some more difficulty by actually facing an enemy, so it also contributes to our competitive spirit, like guessing your partner’s intentions. Whether you love a challenge or feel scared by them is decided at a very early age, so it is our responsibility to develop the mindset(心态) in young children to enjoy problem-solving.”
In 1991, Polgar earned the title of grandmaster at the age of 15, becoming the youngest to do so at the time and breaking the record previously held by the former world champion Bobby Fischer. She retired from competitive chess in 2014 but remains an active supporter for the game, particularly in education, encouraging girls to pursue it as part of the school courses. Through her Chess Palace online course, she manages to magnetize children across homes, nurseries and schools.
Rubik explained how puzzles could promote the mental capability to prevent and solve conflicts(冲突). He said, “I think the most important thing today is education— to give the next generations the mental power to be capable of handling situations and to teach them how it is possible to solve problems that have already been created, how it is possible to slow them down, and how it is possible to change human behavior.”
28. What was Rubik’s original purpose in creating the Rubik’s Cube?
A. To make a fortune. B. To challenge puzzle lovers.
C. To celebrate high-achieving students. D. To assist students with their sense of space.
29. What message do Judit Polgar’s words in paragraph 3 deliver?
A. People’s attitude towards challenges is unchangeable.
B. The more one plays chess, the weaker his competitive spirit is.
C. The earlier one experiences challenging games, the better.
D. Problem-solving in chess is much easier than that in real life.
30. What does the underlined word “magnetize” in paragraph 4 probably mean?
A. Draw. B. Spot. C. Judge. D. Select.
31. What is the text mainly about?
A. The history of the Rubik’s Cube.
B. The achievements of Judit Polgar in chess.
C. The benefits of puzzles and chess in education.
D. The significance of developing children’s mental capability.
D 29. C 30. A 31. C
根据第二段中的“Rubik, a former professor in Hungary, created the Cube in 1974 as a teaching tool to help students understand how the concept of space could be seen and used.(Rubik,匈牙利前教授,于1974年创造了魔方,作为一种教学工具,帮助学生理解如何观察和使用空间的概念。)”
根据第三段中的“Whether you love a challenge or feel scared by them is decided at a very early age, so it is our responsibility to develop the mindset in young children to enjoy problem-solving.(无论你是喜欢挑战还是害怕挑战,这都是在很小的时候就决定的,所以我们有责任培养孩子们喜欢解决问题的心态。)”
根据画线词前文“She retired from competitive chess in 2014 but remains an active supporter for the game, particularly in education, encouraging girls to pursue it as part of the school courses.(她于 2014 年从竞技性国际象棋比赛中退役,但仍积极支持这项运动,尤其是在教育领域,她鼓励女孩将国际象棋纳入学校课程的学习内容。)” 故选A。
根据第二段中的“According to him, puzzles such as the Rubik’s Cube mirror the challenges we face in the real world, offering a hands-on approach to problem-solving.(据他所说,像魔方这样的拼图反映了我们在现实生活中面临的挑战,为解决问题提供了一种动手实践的方法。)”以及第三段“Whether you love a challenge or feel scared by them is decided at a very early age, so it is our responsibility to develop the mindset in young children to enjoy problem-solving.(无论你是喜欢挑战还是害怕挑战,这都是在很小的时候就决定的,所以我们有责任培养孩子们喜欢解决问题的心态。)”和最后一段中的“Rubik explained how puzzles could promote the mental capability to prevent and solve conflicts.(Rubik解释了拼图如何促进预防和解决冲突的心理能力。)” C“The benefits of puzzles and chess in education.(拼图和象棋在教育中的好处)”为正确答案。故选C。
D
Have emojis worsened or improved language? Or are they useful? According to Evans, an expert on digital communication, “In the spoken medium, body language, such as gestures and facial expressions, provides a means of qualifying and adjusting the message delivered by the words we speak.” That’s to say, a silly smile, rolled eyes, or folded arms can enrich what is said, and supply more information for interpretation.
According to an estimate, 30% — 35% of derived (衍生的) meanings from daily social interactions come from language, while nearly 70% come from nonverbal signals, especially visual ones. Coincidentally, in another study, it was found that 70% of emoji usage directly relates to emotional expressions.
Emojis provide missing details for digital communication where chatting has character limits, and facial expressions and body movements are often hidden behind screens. The digital text alone is on occasion emotionally dull. And considering its similarity to punctuation (标点), the emoji is definitely the world’s first truly universal form of communication today.
While emojis are mainly used to add personal touches in dull, digital chats, they still have problems. Growing slowly, emojis are a set number of characters. In a new study by Adobe, which surveyed thousands of emoji users around the world, only 20% feel their identities are completely reflected in current emoji options, and the majority aren’t pleased with them, declaring that emojis should continue to fight for more inclusive representation of users.
This thought is unsurprisingly driven by the younger generation, who rely upon emojis to express what’s in their mind. If emojis are used to share our nonverbal emotions, then they should represent the “speaker”, reflecting who is communicating. Customization is one solution — an approach we have already seen progress. In 2015, the Unicode Consortium showed skin-tone modifiers (调节器). However, very quickly, those options were determined to be still too limited. Hairstyles and hair color modifiers were introduced in 2019. There’s room to grow there too.
32. What role do nonverbal signals play in face-to-face communication?
A. They are primarily used to avoid being impolite.
B. They contribute more to understanding than spoken words.
C. They account for less than half of the meanings expressed.
D. They are less important than in digital communication.
33. Why are most users dissatisfied with the present emojis?
A. They are mechanical. B. They are too complex.
C. They lack inclusiveness. D. They reveal identities.
34. How can the problems with emojis be addressed?
A. By tailoring the designs. B. By clarifying new meanings.
C. By restricting the usage. D. By counting on young users.
35. Which can be the most suitable title for the text?
A. Emojis: The Perfect Solution to Emotional Expression
B. The Way Younger Generations Redefine Digital Interaction
C. Emojis: The Witness to the Rise and Fall of Traditional Language
D. The Impact and Development of Emojis in Modern Communication
B 33. C 34. A 35. D

根据第四段中“In a new study by Adobe, which surveyed thousands of emoji users around the world, only 20% feel their identities are completely reflected in current emoji options, and the majority aren’t pleased with them, declaring that emojis should continue to fight for more inclusive representation of users. (根据Adobe的一项调查了全球数千名表情符号用户的新研究,只有20%的人认为当前的表情符号选项能完全体现他们的身份特征,大多数用户对此表示不满,并明确表示表情符号应继续努力实现更具包容性的用户代表性)”可知,用户不满的主要原因是现有表情符号缺乏包容性。故选C项。
【34题详解】
细节理解题。根据最后一段中“Customization is one solution — an approach we have already seen progress. In 2015, the Unicode Consortium showed skin-tone modifiers (调节器). However, very quickly, those options were determined to be still too limited. Hairstyles and hair color modifiers were introduced in 2019. There’s room to grow there too. (定制化是解决方案之一——在这方面我们已经看到了一些进展。2015年,Unicode联盟推出了肤色修改符。但很快人们就发现,这些选项仍然太过有限。2019年又新增了发型和发色修改符。在这方面仍有改进空间)”可知,定制化设计可以解决表情符号的问题。故选A项。

How to Use Your Inner Voice
We all have an inner voice, and while it can be supportive, it can also become overly critical. The good news: ___36___ Here are three science-backed strategies to refine (改善) your inner dialogue, inspired by the groundbreaking work of psychologist Ethan Kross.
Distancing Ourselves from Negative Thoughts
____37____ Kross’s research on self-distancing offers a powerful solution. By referring to yourself in the third person or using your own name, you create psychological distance which reduces emotional reactivity. For instance, instead of thinking, “I’m failing”, try telling yourself, “[Add Your Name], you’re learning through this challenge.” This simple shift can help you approach problems with clarity and objectivity.
Inner Coach vs. Inner Critic
____38____ It helps us plan, solve problems, and motivate ourselves. But it can also make us more anxious and hurt our relationships. Kross recommends that we should make the most of its good points while keeping its bad ones in check. When you’re faced with self-criticism, try shifting to your inner coach for guidance. These slight changes in how we talk to ourselves can lower our stress and help us solve problems better.
____39____
Building a constructive inner voice requires practice. Just before bed, journal about a moment where positive self-talk helped you. Reflect on how it shaped your response and what you can carry into tomorrow. Over time, this habit can help reinforce a growth mindset and prepare you to tackle challenges with more confidence.
Conclusion
By practicing self-distancing, reframing criticism, and reflecting on positive moments, you can turn your inner voice into a source of strength and clarity. ____40____
A. Our inner voice cuts both ways.
B. Talking to yourself during tough times.
C. Growing through Positive Self-Dialogue
D. Feeling overwhelmed by your inner critic?
E. Self-talk can be transformed into a tool for growth and success.
F. We can learn to identify negative thought patterns and avoid them.
G. Start today — because your inner voice shapes how you show up in the world.

a traditional Tang jacket与match之间是被动关系,即“唐装被搭配”,所以用过去分词matched作后置定语,修饰a traditional Tang jacket。
现在完成时的结构为“have/has +过去分词”,现在完成进行时的结构为“have/has been +现在分词”,主语the Frenchman是第三人称单数,spend的过去分词为spent,现在分词为spending,所以可填has spent或has been spending。故填has spent / has been spending。
句中已有谓语动词has spent/has been spending,此处应用非谓语动词。
故填which。
“choose to do sth.” 故填to major。
故填In。
故填an。

Dear fellow schoolmates,
I’m writing to appeal to everyone to actively participate in building a beautiful campus. An attractive campus can make our learning experience pleasant and thus boost our academic performance.
Nevertheless, some uncivilized behaviors still exist. Some students were seen running on the lawn, picking flowers or throwing rubbish everywhere, which does great harm to our school environment. Without doubt, it’s high time that immediate measures should be taken to solve such undesirable problems. In my view, everyone bears responsibility for the beauty of our campus. Moreover, if we all refrain from improper behaviors, our campus will surely become a much more beautiful place.
Every small effort matters. Let’s take action to safeguard the beauty of our campus!
Yours,

Vanessa, an elderly woman, lost her beloved husband a couple of years ago. With no children of their own, she had to live on her own.
For years, Vanessa had wanted to repair their aging roof, fearing it wouldn’t withstand heavy rain or snow. However, her husband had always dismissed her concerns, insisting that the roof was in good condition.
But after her husband’s sudden and tragic accident. Vanessa’s worries grew. She became increasingly fearful of losing her cherished home to the forces of nature. She decided to hire a team of workers to fix her roof once and for all. She treated the workers well, cooking meals and bringing them drinks she’d made herself.
Among the workers, only Joseph, the youngest in the group, truly showed kindness and compassion towards Vanessa. He’d sometimes stay after work to help her fix some things at home for free. Joseph’s soft spot for Vanessa sprang from his past. Having grown up as an orphan (孤儿) and never having known his own parents, he deeply appreciated Vanessa’s care and wanted to give back in any way he could.
On the final day of repairing the roof, one worker named Josh made a surprising discovery. Hidden beneath one of the layers of roofing, he found a wooden box. Excitedly, he called over the other workers to take a look. Eager to uncover the secrets within, one of the workers used a hammer to break the lock. As they opened the box, their eyes widened in astonishment. Inside, they found a lot of gold jewelry, a large sum of money, and a letter from Vanessa’s late husband to her.
Overwhelmed by the unexpected treasure, Josh exclaimed, “We’ve hit the jackpot, guys! This is our lucky day!” Immediately, another worker suggested they secretly divide the fortune amongst themselves, planning to store it in their cars until they left the house. However, Joseph disagreed. “That wouldn’t be right,” he said. “These items could be important heirlooms (传家宝) to Vanessa.” Josh, shaking his head, responded, “Come on, Joseph, why would an elderly woman without a family need all these things?”

However, Joseph couldn’t shake off the feeling that it was his responsibility to do the right thing. He frowned as he watched the workers greedily eye the gold jewelry. He thought of Vanessa’s loneliness and the warmth she’d shown them. “Wait!” he stepped forward and said, “Look at this note — her husband wrote it. She’s been alone for years. What if this is all she has left of him?” Joseph’s eyes scanned the room, pleading with his teammates. Josh and the other workers avoided eye contact, suddenly interested in the floor. Joseph knelt beside the box, tracing the worn edges of the wooden lid and murmured, “We can’t take from someone who’s already lost so much.”
Together, they carefully repacked the box and brought it to Vanessa, explaining their discovery. Tears welled up in Vanessa’s eyes as she opened the box and read the letter from her husband. It revealed her husband had secretly saved the valuables to surprise her with a dream vacation, a promise he’d never fulfilled. “I thought he forgot,” she whispered. In the end, Vanessa insisted on sharing a portion of the money with Joseph and his teammates as a reward for their discovery and honesty. Because of them, Vanessa found her husband’s love had never faded, hidden safely under the roof they’d both once called home.

C Role models are of great significance. D. Adversity can bring new opportunities.
26. What does paragraph 5 mainly talk about concerning Wang Sibo?
A. The significance of his light paintings. B. The unique charm of his light paintings.
C. His efforts to set the Guinness World Record. D. His remarkable achievements in light painting.
27. Which of the following can best describe Wang Sibo?
A. Hardworking and pioneering. B. Enthusiastic and humorous.
C. Outgoing and warm-hearted. D. Talented and caring.

C They lack inclusiveness. D. They reveal identities.
34. How can the problems with emojis be addressed?
A. By tailoring the designs. B. By clarifying new meanings.
C. By restricting the usage. D. By counting on young users.
35. Which can be the most suitable title for the text?
A. Emojis: The Perfect Solution to Emotional Expression
B. The Way Younger Generations Redefine Digital Interaction
C. Emojis: The Witness to the Rise and Fall of Traditional Language
D. The Impact and Development of Emojis in Modern Communication
