1. _________ 13 years old, the boy went abroad _________ the first time. A. At; at B. On; at C. In; for D. At; for 【答案】D 【解析】 【详解】句意:在13岁的时候,这个男孩第一次出国了。 At;“for the first time”表示“第一次”,是固定短语,所以第二个空用for。 D。 2. Mr. Lee is an animal lover. He does everything he can ________ animals. A. hunt B. to hunt C. to protect D. protecting 【答案】C 【解析】 【详解】句意:李先生是一位动物爱好者。 Lee is an animal lover.” C。 3. Wolves only hunt ________ food. And they often hunt ________ a team. A. for; with B. as; for C. for; like D. for; as 【答案】D 【解析】 【详解】狼只为觅食而捕猎。 for为了;with用;as作为;like像。根据“Wolves only hunt... food. And they often hunt... a team.” hunt for为固定搭配,意为“搜寻,猎取”,因此第一空填for, hunt as a team意为“以团队形式捕猎”,因此第二空填as。故选D。 4. He like coffee. I see him drink a cup at times. A. must B. may C. can’t D. mustn’t 【答案】B 【解析】 【详解】句意:他可能喜欢咖啡。 A. must必须;B. may可能;C. can’t不能;D. mustn’t禁止。 I see him drink a cup at times. B。 5. Allan didn’t write carefully. ________, he made lots of mistakes and failed the test. A. It’s a pity B. As a result C. For example D. Otherwise 【答案】B 【解析】 【详解】句意:Allan没有认真写。 It’s a pity真遗憾呀;As a result结果,因此;For example例如;Otherwise否则。 B。 6. If we don’t do anything, the number of rare animals will become ________. A. more and more B. fewer and fewer C. bigger and bigger D. smaller and smaller 【答案】D 【解析】 【详解】句意:如果我们什么都不做,稀有动物的数量将会变得越来越少。 more and more越来越多;fewer and fewer越来越少;bigger and bigger越来越大;smaller and smaller越来越小。 D。 7. — I can’t find my mobile phone. — Don’t worry. Maybe you it at home. D 8. We really need the pianos to practise. Please don’t ________. A. take it away B. take away it C. take them away D. take away them 【答案】C 【解析】 【详解】句意:我们真的需要这些钢琴来练习,请不要把它们搬走。 C。 9. —Did you get any information about this test? —Well, I was trying to, but found . A. nothing B. no one C. some D. none 【答案】D 【解析】 【详解】句意:——你得到任何关于这次考试的信息了吗?——哦,我曾试过,但什么也没找到。 A. Nothing什么也没有;B. no one没有人;C. some 一些;D. D。 10. —________ do you know about camels? —They live in dry places and can live without water for a long time. A. What B. How many C. How much D. How 【答案】A 【解析】 【详解】句意:——关于骆驼,你了解什么?——它们生活在干燥的地方,可以在长时间不喝水的情况下生存。 根据“They live in dry places and can live without water for a long time.” A。 11. Thank you for ________ let me _________ your school trip. A. agreeing to; join B. agreeing; joining C. to agree; join D. agreeing to; to join 【答案】A 【解析】 【详解】句意:谢谢你同意让我参加你的学校旅行。 介词for后接动名词,所以排除选项C;短语agree to do sth. A。 12. —I didn’t hear you come in just now. —That’s good. We tried _________ any noise, for you were sleeping. A. not make B. not to make C. to make D. making 【答案】B 【解析】 【详解】句意:——我刚才没听见你进来。 短语try (not) to do sth.尽力(不)做某事,to do不定式的否定式是在to前面加not。 B。 13. Which of the following suffixes is used to form a noun? B。 14. —________ do hunters hunt wild animals? —Some are for money and others for fun. A. Why B. How C. What D. Where 【答案】A 【解析】 【详解】句意:——为什么猎人们会猎杀野生动物呢?——有些是为了钱,其他的是为了乐趣。 Why为什么;How如何,怎样;What什么;Where哪里。根据“Some are for money and others for fun.” A。 15. —I’m afraid I can’t come to your birthday party, Sandy. —________! But why? A. How come B. How lucky C. What a pity D. What nice news 【答案】C 【解析】 【详解】句意:——桑迪,我恐怕不能来参加你的生日聚会了。 How come意为“为什么”;How lucky意为“多么幸运啊”;What a pity意为“真遗憾”;What nice news意为“多好消息啊”。根据“I’m afraid I can’t come to your birthday party”可知,对方不能来参加生日聚会,因此此处应表示遗憾。 In the forest, high up on the steep (陡峭的) shore, and not far from the open sea, stood a very old oak (橡树) tree. If you give without spending time filling your own needs, then it’s likely you will burn out, or feel upset. When you take without giving anything back, you never feel fulfilled, so you are always searching for ways to fill the empty space in your life. The way to create a healthy balance between giving and receiving is to know and then live by your values. I break values up into two groups which I call “being” values and “having” values. Your “being” values are the personalities of the ideal person you would like to be. People can choose some “being” values that they are willing to make a promise to live by. An example of some “being” values are: kind, loving, generous, peaceful, wise and even powerful. By acting on these values, you give to others through your actions and you inspire others by being a positive role model. Mastering being these personalities becomes your life purpose. Your “having” values are the feelings you need to create in order to be happy. These could be companionship, achievement or support. This is what you receive. You take responsibility for filling your own needs by taking steps to create these feelings and conditions in your life. When you make a promise to live by your “being” values, it becomes easier to make conscious (慎重的) choices. If you usually talk about your problems, you could choose to think and act like a calm person. A calm person might go for a walk, or set a time limit before you react. If you usually worry about something, you could choose to act like a responsible or wise person. A responsible or wise person might have the courage to deal with difficulties they meet. In other words, you would act like the person you choose to be—this is the key to personal power. When you choose to act on your values, you not only feel good about yourself, but you make your chosen beliefs stronger. Over time acting in this way changes how you see the world, and in turn the way other people think of you. 33. According to the passage, living by your “being” values, you would________. A. get a lot of power B. receive support from others C. fill your own needs D. form positive personalities 34. What can we learn from the passage? A. Having values are more important than being values. B. The way other people think of you changes your values. C. You may shake your beliefs when your values are clear to you. D. Acting on your values can help balance what you give and receive. 35. What is the writer’s main purpose in writing this passage? A. To show the importance of giving. B. To explain what personal values are. C. To tell people how to be truly happy. D. To encourage people to have a life purpose. D 34. D 35. 根据“By acting on these values, you give to others through your actions and you inspire others by being a positive role model. Mastering being these personalities becomes your life purpose.” 根据“When you choose to act on your values, you not only feel good about yourself, but you make your chosen beliefs stronger.” 根据“You feel happiest when you create a healthy balance between giving and receiving.” C。 C Roberta, Peter and Phyllis lived in a large house in London. Father worked hard in a government office. He was never angry and always ready for a game. Mother was almost at home, ready to play with the children, and help them do their home-lessons. These three lucky children always had everything they needed: pretty clothes, good fires, a lovely playroom and a dog called James. They had a happy life, but they did not know how happy till the pretty life in the large house was over. Peter had a toy engine and it broke. After dinner, Peter showed Father the engine. Father looked it over and promised to do it on Saturday. At that moment two men came to see Father. Minutes passed. Father’s voice came out from the study, loud and angry. More time passed. Then Mother came in and said, “Father’s been called away-on business.” A week after their father went away, their mother said, “Now, we’re going to move to the country. A pretty little white house, called Three Chimneys.” The family started packing: clothes, plates, candles and also tables and chairs. “We seem to be taking all the ugly things,” said Roberta. “We’re taking the useful ones,” said Mother. “We’ve got to play at being poor for a bit.” Peter said joyously, “I do like moving! I wish we moved once a month.” Mother laughed and said, “I don’t like moving!” As she turned away, Roberta saw her face. She never forgot it. “Oh, Mother,” she whispered, “how I love you! You are brave enough to laugh when you’re feeling like that!” Then they took a train to Three Chimneys. No one knew how long they had been in the train when Mother woke them up. They stood in the cold night air on the dark platform At that moment they didn’t know how important the station and the trains would become to them. They didn’t know they were going to be the railway children. —Taken from The Railway Children 36. Which of the following questions is answered in this passage? A. How did Peter’s toy engine break? B. They’re called “seahorses” because they look a bit like horses. Although they’re fish, seahorses aren’t great swimmers. They often use their tail to hold onto something in the water. There are over 40 different kinds of seahorses. Many kinds of them are in danger. On July 18,2023, Australian scientists released (释放) hundreds of baby White’s seahorses into the wild. White’s seahorses are mainly found near Sydney, Australia. In 2020, these seahorses were named the second most endangered kind of seahorse in the world. That’s partly because of pollution, and partly because many of the areas where they live, like seagrasses and coral reefs, have been lost. To begin the project, scientists collected three pregnant (怀孕的) male seahorses in January. Those seahorses were brought back to the aquarium (水族馆) at the Sydney Institute of Marine Science (SIMS). After the babies were born, the scientists kept them at the aquarium for five months, feeding the baby seahorses tiny shrimp (small shellfish) to help them grow strong. Scientist Mitchell Brennan says, “They don’t have a stomach, so they have to eat continuously (连续地).” About a month before the young seahorses were released, the scientists created eight underwater “hotels” for them, The hotels looked a little like cages, and provided a safe place for the seahorses to develop. Putting the hotels into the sea early allowed the cages to be covered with small sea life that could help provide food for the seahorses. The scientists have released seahorses into the area five times, but this time was a record. Around 380 seahorses were released and about 90% of them survived. The researchers put tiny tags (标签) under the skin of many of the seahorses to help track (追踪) them in the future. The scientists are hoping that the young seahorses will grow and reproduce in large numbers. Brett Fenton, who works for SIMS. says. “It is highly expected that we’ll see the animals do well over the next 12 months.” 39. What do we know about White’s seahorses? A. They are facing dangers. B. They are good swimmers. C. They are found worldwide. D. They disappeared in the wild. 40. What did the scientists do to help the young seahorses survive? A. Place tiny tags under their skin. B. Cover their cages with seagrass. C. Prepare underwater habitats (栖息地) for them. D. Feed tiny shrimp to them monthly. 41. What made this seahorse release special? A The timing of the release. B. Watching livestreaming (直播的) shows has become part of their lives. At the same time, traditional culture has found a bigger stage online. Many traditional artists are starting to livestream on Douyin and Bilibili. Some of them sing Beijing Opera, some show their folk handicrafts, while others perform Chinese classical music. A growing number of young people are starting to become more interested in traditional culture because of livestreaming. Li Jun is a Beijing Opera performer in Shanghai Jingju Theater Company. After the outbreak, the 59-year-old man took up his smart phone and started livestreaming. Unlike performing on a formal stage, Li uses ordinary places as his stage, including his backyard and study room. Apart from singing, Li also teaches viewers about Beijing Opera. People can ask him questions and get answers directly. “Livestreaming has brought this elegant (高雅的) art down to earth,” one viewer said. “It gives young people an easier aceess to this traditional art and lets them learn more about it.” Li has more than 6000 fans on Douyin, while one of his videos got 42,000 views on Bilibili. On March 26th, 2020, Bilibili livestreamed a Huafu show on the third China Huafu Day. Performers presented clothes in traditional Chinese styles, including those from Wei, Tang and Ming dynasties. During the show, viewers not only enjoyed looking at the clothes, but also watched how performers used ancient styles of make-up. But does this crazy actually make sense? Is there any scientific explanation for it? Well, you should probably ask James Kilner, a neuroscientist(神经科学家) at University College London. Through our lifetime we become experts at reading and telling other people’s faces and facial expressions. However, according to Kilner, we have a very poor understanding of our own faces since we have little experience of looking at them—we just feel them most of the time. This has been proved in some studies in which people were shown photos of themselves and asked to match their facial expressions in the pictures. In most cases, they failed to correctly produce the same facial expressions without being able to see themselves in the mirror, according to BBC. To further test how we actually sense our own faces, Kilner carried out another study. He showed people two kinds of their own pictures—one had been edited(编辑) to look less beautiful and the one was made more beautiful—and asked them to pick the version which they thought looked most like them. Kilner found that most people chose the more beautiful picture. This suggests that we usually think of ourselves as better-looking than we actually are. But what does it say about selfies? Well, isn’t that clear? Selfies give us the power to create a photo—by taking it from different angles(角度), with different poses, using filters(滤镜) and so on—that better matches our expectations with our actual faces. “You suddenly have control in a way that you don’t have in the real world.” Kilner told the Canada-based CTA News. “Selfies allow you to keep taking pictures until you manage to take one you’re happy with”, he explained. 47. How does the writer lead in the topic “selfie” in Paragraph 1? A. By asking questions. B. By comparing facts. C. By giving examples. D. By explaining reasons. 48. We can learn from Paragraph 2 and Paragraph 3 that people are ________. A. proud of the photos of their own B. able to remember their own faces easily C. more interested in their faces in the mirror D. good at understanding others by their faces 49. According to Kilner, taking selfies ________. A. helps people to improve their skills of taking photos B. meets people’s needs to know their own faces better C. makes people possible to reach their expectation D. offers people a way to control the world 50. Which might be the best title of the passage? A. What Is the Selfies B. Why Do You Take Selfies C. How Can We Take Selfies D. Who Likes Taking Selfies 【答案】47. A 48. D 49. C 50. Many different types of dogs can be trained to do this work, but the best known ones are German shepherds and bloodhounds. In Britain, police dogs usually have a 13-week training course and many dogs fail. Not all dogs make good police dogs. They must be completely reliable and obedient. Most police dogs live with their handlers as part of the family, but they are not pets. They are working dogs and they have a job to do. Police dogs are trained to chase and hold people who are trying to get away from the police. Police dogs are not vicious animals. They are trained to hold on to people until their handler tells them to let go. Police dogs often go into dangerous places and they are given special vests to protect them from knife and gun attacks. Dogs are not only trained to chase and catch criminals. They are also used for following suspects or finding missing people. This is because some dogs, such as bloodhounds, have a very good sense of smell and can be trained to recognize certain types of smells. Some dogs are used to find survivors after earthquakes or explosions and some are specially trained to find dead bodies. In many countries dogs are used in airports to check luggage for drugs and bombs. 33. According to the passage living by your “being” values, you would________. A. get a lot of power B. receive support from others C. fill your own needs D. form positive personalities 34. C Roberta, Peter and Phyllis lived in a large house in London. They stood in the cold night air on the dark platform. At that moment they didn’t know how important the station and the trains would become to them. They didn’t know they were going to be the railway children. —Taken from The Railway Children 36. Which of the following questions is answered in this passage? A. How did Peter’s toy engine break? B. A. The timing of the release. B. The location of the release. C. The number of pregnant seahorses released. D. The survival rate (存活率) of seahorses released. 42. How does Brett Fenton feel in the last paragraph? A. Curious. B. Confident. C. Worried. D. Surprised. E Because of the pandemic (疫情), many people look for fun online. As Guangming Daily noted, livestreaming has come to a new stage through which traditional culture can be kept alive. 43. Why did the writer mention Li Jun in the second paragraph? A. To ask young people to learn from Li Jun. B. To tell young people to learn Beijing Opera. C. To ask young people to enjoy Li Jun’s livestreaming. D. To give an example of traditional culture livestreaming. 44. What does the underlined word “It” in Paragraph 3 refer to? A. Art B. Earth C. Livestreaming D. Culture 45. Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage? A. Performers presented Chinese classical music in the Huafu show. B. Beijing Opera performer Li Jun has more than 42000 fans on Douyin. C. More people have interest in traditional culture with the help of livestreaming. D. Many traditional artists are starting to sell folk handicrafts on Douyin and Bilibili. 46. Which picture shows the structure of the passage? A. B. C. D. F We take selfies(自拍) when we try on a new hat, play with our pets or when we meet a friend whom we haven’t seen in a while. Labradors, spaniels and beagles are used for this because they are friendly dogs and people are not afraid of them. 66.
