But when Charley dove into the water from the edge, he hit the concrete bottom of the swimming pool and was badly hurt. Soon he was rushed away in the screaming ambulance. The doctor said he had seriously broken his leg and would stay at hospital for several weeks. When Tad went to visit him in the hospital, Charley was in a low mood, unwilling to talk to others. When Charley got out of the hospital, Tad visited him a few times, chatting and playing video games with him, but things just were not the same. Charley was still in low spirits. Meanwhile, Tad made friends at school, boys who enjoyed the things he and Charley used to do. Still, he felt sad and guilty for not spending more time with Charley. He wanted to help and be the same good friend like before, but it was hard. Charley came back to middle school in the fall, but he had a tough time. Tad helped him get to class on time by pushing his wheelchair, but sometimes, Charley had to find someone else if Tad was at ball practice, or he would be late. One day Charley dropped his book. As he tried to lean(倾斜) down and pick it up, he fell out of his wheelchair. Tad and one of his classmates helped him back into his chair. Charley wasn’t hurt, but he was so embarrassed that he didn’t speak to anyone the rest of the day. Another time, Charley tried to get through the gym door, but it closed on him. He was trapped between the door and the wall until someone helped him. With each passing day, Charley became sadder and sadder. Worried about Charley, Tad felt it was urgent to offer help. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ After that, Tad could sense something had changed. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】Worried about Charley, Tad felt it was urgent to offer help. He decided to organize a small group of his friends to form a helping team for Charley. They made a detailed schedule, ensuring that someone was always available to assist Charley during breaks and between classes. They helped him carry books and even accompanied him to the school’s special physical therapy sessions. Tad also spent more time talking to Charley, sharing the latest news and jokes, trying to lift his spirits. After that, Tad could sense something had changed. Charley gradually became more cheerful. He started to participate in class discussions actively and made some new friends. One day, Charley said to Tad with a big smile, “Thank you so much for what you and your friends have done for me. This year, Emma was determined to participate with her little brother, Oliver. They had spent weeks gathering old clothes, straw, and paint to carefully plan their masterpiece. On the morning of the festival, Emma and Oliver were busy creating their scarecrow in their front yard. The air was clear with the scent of fallen leaves, and children’s laughter filled the yard as other families prepared. Just as they were adding the final touches — a brightly painted pumpkin head and a jaunty hat — Mrs. Parker, their elderly neighbor, walked by with her cane. She had always been a comforting presence in the neighborhood. “Good morning, Mrs. Parker!” Emma greeted her with a cheerful wave, her hands covered with paint. “Good morning, dears,” Mrs. Parker replied warmly. “That scarecrow looks wonderful. You two have really outdone yourselves.” “Thank you!” Oliver smiled, “We’re hoping it wins the contest.” A gust of wind blew, swirling leaves around their feet, and Mrs. Parker fell, nearly losing her balance. Emma quickly steadied her, heart pounding with concern. “Are you okay, Mrs Parker?” she asked worriedly. Mrs. Parker smiled weakly, “I’m fine, just a little unsteady these days. This old cane isn’t quite what it used to be.” Emma and Oliver exchanged worried glances. Seeing Mrs Parker’s frailty (虚弱) was an obvious reminder of her age. After she continued on her way, taking slow, cautious steps, Emma turned to Oliver. “We should keep an eye on Mrs. Parker. She’s been so kind to us, and she might need help.” she said firmly. Their parents often reminded them to look out for their neighbors, especially those older or living alone. Emma recalled the many times Mrs. Parker had brought over cookies or helped with school projects, her gentle presence a comforting constant. She also remembered Mrs. Parker stories about winning the Scarecrow Festival in her younger days with her beautifully crafted scarecrows, which were always the highlight of the event. Her expertise in scarecrow making was well-known in the neighborhood. Realizing that true kindness and community spirit meant being there for others in times of need, Emma and Oliver knew it was time to repay Mrs. Parker’s kindness. 注意: 1. 续写词数应为150左右; 2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 That afternoon, instead of heading directly to the festival, Emma and Oliver knocked on Mrs. Parker’s door. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Eventually, they all headed to the town square together to attend the competition. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】       That afternoon, instead of heading directly to the festival, Emma and Oliver knocked on Mrs. Parker’s door. Her eyes lit up when she saw them. “Hello again, dears. What brings you here?” “We thought you might need some help or company, Mrs. Parker.” Emma said gently. Mrs. Parker’s face softened with a grateful smile. “That’s very kind of you. I could use some help with a few things.” As they tidied up her garden and arranged her living room, Mrs. Parker noticed their scarecrow supplies. With her experienced hands, she showed them how to weave the straw more tightly and suggested adding a bow tie for a touch of elegance. She even shared her secret technique for making the scarecrow’s face look more expressive, a skill she had honed over many years of participating in the festival. Eventually, they all headed to the town square together to attend the competition. Emma and Oliver proudly wheeled “Mr. Pumpkinhead” to their spot, Mrs. Parker following closely behind. The town square buzzed with excitement, filled with vibrant scarecrows and happy families. As they arrived, a small crowd gathered around their scarecrow, admiring its charming rustic appearance. A judge approached them with a ribbon. “Congratulations! ‘Mr. Pumpkinhead’ has won the title of Best Scarecrow!” Emma and Oliver exchanged thrilled glances. The real victory, they realized, was the joy and companionship they shared with their dear neighbor, Mrs. Parker, whose expertise had played a crucial role in their success. 词汇激活 行为类 ①看见: see/spot/catch sight of ②建议: suggest /advise/propose ③欣赏:admire/appreciate 情绪类 ①感激的: grateful/thankful ②兴奋:excitement/thrill 【点睛】[高分句型1]We thought you might need some help or company, Mrs. Parker.(运用了省略that的宾语从句) [高分句型2]She even shared her secret technique for making the scarecrow’s face look more expressive, a skill she had honed over many years of participating in the festival.(运用了省略which或者that的定语从句) [高分句型3]As they arrived, a small crowd gathered around their scarecrow, admiring its charming rustic appearance. He was the only son of Adam Tan, a well-known former athlete and a member of the first Malaysian team to reach the South Pole in an expedition (探险). Because of this, many expected and assumed Joseph to like sports like his father. Nothing could be further from the truth. Since he was young, Joseph has been suffering from asthma (哮喘). He preferred to read books indoors and was called “Professor” unkindly in class. He did not seem to mind these comments until he was laughed at by his classmates one day. They said he was a disgrace (耻辱) to his father. Joseph lost his cool and fought with them. Of course, he lost. From that day onwards, Joseph started building up his body. He exercised and turned his attention and efforts to sports. One day, the school announced it had planned an expedition in Kalimantan, Indonesia. It was also meant to be in memory of Joseph’s father, who was its former adviser. Of course, Joseph would like to join in. During the expedition we had the help of our two teacher advisers. We were determined to succeed in the expedition which was to cross a mountain, river, and forest. The last stage was the forest. We had only four more kilometers to cover before we would walk out of the forest and successfully complete our expedition in the required time. If we succeeded, we would be the first school team to have done that in record time. However, Joseph had an asthma attack. We gathered around Joseph anxiously. When we asked him about his medicine, Joseph said he had lost it somewhere during the expedition. Behind us was 20 kilometers of wilderness which we had covered. We had left our teachers two kilometers behind us as it was agreed that we would attempt the last stage ourselves. We could not go back; it was a matter of pride. We had to cover the last stage ourselves. 注意: 1.续写词数应为150左右; 2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 Joseph begged us to carry on but we decided to take turns carrying Joseph on our back. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ About an hour later, we finally reached the destination. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 Joseph begged us to carry on but we decided to take turns carrying Joseph on our back. Bearing annoying insects and mud was only minor difficulty. Carrying Joseph was more difficult but we did not mind the physical part of the burden. What worried us was not finishing the expedition in record time but that Joseph would die before he received medical help. We struggled. With great determination and efforts, we finished the last kilometers. About an hour later, we finally reached the destination. The welcome team did not get to complete their cheery support. They cut short their cheering when they saw us carrying Joseph. To our relief, Joseph was given timely treatment, The school gave us a hero’s welcome. After all, we had tried and completed the last stage of the expedition in our own way. As for Joseph, he had not disgraced his father. After this, Joseph returned to the pursuit of his first love — his books. 3. 词汇激活 行为类 ①完成:finish/accomplish ②提供:give/provide ③追求:pursuit/chase 情绪类 ①宽慰:relief/ease ②烦人的:annoying/troublesome 【点睛】[高分句型1]What worried us was not finishing the expedition in record time but that Joseph would die before he received medical help.(what引导的主语从句) [高分句型2]They cut short their cheering when they saw us carrying Joseph.(when引导的时间状语从句) Passage 4 (24-25学年高二上·山东菏泽·期中) 1.阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。 Derek Blaise was once a successful businessman. When I tried out for the school play, The Twelve Dancing Princesses, I was confident I’d get one of the best parts. But Mr. Ellison, the director, didn’t offer me any role. Instead he encouraged me to join the stage crew. I often felt that my parents paid more attention to my academically gifted older sister, Diana. Therefore, a few weeks later, when Mom told me that she’d bought tickets for the whole family, I started to wonder if I should have been honest about being on the stage crew. But I couldn’t tell them the truth. Plus, I wasn’t convinced I would be behind the scenes on the opening day. Once Susan, Princess Six, missed rehearsal (彩排) for a dentist appointment, and I volunteered to stand in and read for her. I hadn’t rehearsed the dances, but I followed along and improvised (即兴创作) and I nailed her lines. After rehearsal, Mr. Ellison said, “You were very enthusiastic out there. ” On the performance day, I woke up early, feeling so thrilled. The spotlights and curtains the set crew put up transformed the gym into a real theater. Mr. Ellison asked us to arrive by six, and told whoever we were bringing to come early for good seats. I cheered, and so did the actors. Diana dropped my family off at ten to six. Actually, the stage crew didn’t have to be there until 6: 30, but I was excited, and I still hadn’t told my parents I wouldn’t be onstage. They could figure it out when they saw the show, and I’d deal with it then. Then Mr. Ellison came in and announced that Christy, Princess Eleven, injured her ankle during the rehearsal yesterday and couldn’t take the stage. He muttered, “Where am I supposed to find a new princess? ” 注意: 1. 续写词数应为150左右; 2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 Gathering all my courage, I raised my hand. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Maybe no one noticed “my mistakes”, I thought secretly. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】    Gathering all my courage, I raised my hand. I hadn’t practiced Christy’s dance steps, so I had to follow the other actors as best as I could. Despite my efforts, I stumbled on a few moves and mixed up my lines several times. Each mistake felt like a weight on my chest, but I pushed through, determined to give it my all.     Maybe no one noticed “my mistakes”, I thought secretly. When the final curtain fell, I felt a wave of guilt wash over me for not performing perfectly. But to my surprise, Mr. Ellison came over with a smile. “You handled that beautifully, especially with the last-minute changes, ” he said, praising my stage presence. As my parents and Diana learned that I had only stepped in as a temporary replacement, their faces lit up with pride. Their warmth enveloped me, and in that moment, I realized I had their support. With newfound determination, I decided to keep pursuing my dream of acting, feeling more connected to my family and my passion than ever before. 词汇激活: 行为类: ①决定、下决心做某事:decide to do/be determined to do ②代替:replace/take place of ③包围、环绕:envelop/wrap ④追求、寻求:pursue/seek 情绪类: ①惊讶:surprise/amazement ②热情:passion/enthusiasm 【点睛】【高分句型1】When the final curtain fell, I felt a wave of guilt wash over me for not performing perfectly.(运用了以连词when引导的时间状语从句及动名词的否定形式作宾语) 【高分句型2】As my parents and Diana learned that I had only stepped in as a temporary replacement, their faces lit up with pride.(运用了以连词as引导的时间状语从句和以连接词that引导的宾语从句) Passage 2 (23-24学年高二上·山东潍坊·期中) 1.阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文 A teenage boy named Joel lived in a small faraway town.Joel was an ambitious rapper who spent countless hours in his bedroom writing lyrics (歌词) and perfecting his flow. With a microphone in hand and a rush of excitement over him, he began to rap, pouring his heart and soul into every lyric. The audience was taken back by this young talent, and their cheers grew louder and louder. Joel’s confidence built up as he realized that he had the power to connect with people through his music. He performed even harder, winning a round of claps. Latto, who had been backstage, was drawn to the young rapper’s energy and charm. Witnessing Joel’s incredible performance, Latto approached him. She offered her words of praise and encouragement. Over the following weeks, Latto provided Joel with invaluable advice based on her experiences. They cooperated and developed a friendship rooted in their shared love for music. And finally, Joel’s rap skills gained recognition. Through hard work, perseverance, and an unexpected encounter with Latto, Joel transformed from a small-town dreamer to a respected rapper. His journey became a proof to the magic that can unfold when talent and opportunity meet, reminding everyone that dreams really can become reality. 词汇激活 行为类 ①吸引:draw/attract ②实现:become reality/come true 情绪类 ①激动:excitement /thrill ②欢呼:cheer/applause 【点睛】[高分句型1] Latto, who had been backstage, was drawn to the young rapper’s energy and charm. But today it was his chance to turn a new page. Bob was waiting for the bus, ready to attend the interview at Zane Law Company with his only suit on. He knew all he had to do was pass the interview. Suddenly big raindrops started falling from the sky. Bob looked up in sadness. People hurriedly sought for shelter. Giving up his initial plan of waiting for the bus, he followed them. Pushing his way through crowds of people, Bob ran to the nearest train station to shelter from the rain. “My previous plan didn’t work, but perhaps I could still make it if I take the train,” he thought. An elderly lady accidentally knocked into him, causing the contents of his briefcase to fall out. “I’m sorry, I didn’t…” she said. Bob cut her off, signing it was fine and hurriedly gathered his things. When he reached the platform, he was disappointed to see that notices had been put up everywhere informing of a ten-minute postponement. What’s worse, the floor was flooded. Panic broke out, followed by a disordered rush to the exits where a bottleneck had formed. As Bob made his way to the exit, he saw the elderly lady Mary who had knocked into him earlier. She was hobbling (蹒跚) among the crowds, holding her walking stick with her weak hands. Fear was written clearly on her face as she didn’t see her grandson David who had promised to pick her up to visit his newly-established Zane Law Company. To make matters worse, her phone was out of power and couldn’t reach David. “Auntie, let me help you,” Bob said and without waiting for a reply, he placed her hand on his right arm. After some time, they made it out of the flooded platform. Not wanting to leave Mary alone, he decided to stay with her. After all, there was no way he could make it for his interview now. He was sad at the thought of missing the interview. 注意: 1. 续写词数应为150左右; 2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 Noticing his obvious discouragement, Mary asked, “Son, why do you look so sad?” ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ About ten minutes later, Mary saw David rushing towards them. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】Noticing his obvious discouragement, Mary asked, “Son, why do you look so sad?” Bob hesitated for a moment and then replied with a sigh that he had an important interview at Zane Law Company but the heavy rain destroyed his last hope. Mary listened quietly, sensing his regret at the lost opportunity. She patted him on the shoulder and said, “Don’t worry. You are a nice man. You’ve shown kindness today, and I believe it’ll come back to you in some way.” Her eyes, though clouded with age, held a warmth that cut through the gloominess around them. Hearing her encouraging words, he brightened up. About ten minutes later, Mary saw David rushing towards them. “Grandma, it’s a horrible storm! I’m so worried about you!” David cried out, a sense of relief washing over him. At the same time he noticed Bob supporting her. Then he was told about Bob’s timely help on the way to the interview at Zane Law Company. David extended a hand, his voice filled with gratitude. “Thank you. I’m impressed with your selflessness. You’re exactly the kind of person we’re looking for. Would you be available for an interview later today?” Bob’s face lit up with surprise. At that moment, he realized kindness always pays off. Until then, I had a few good friends with whom I shared many of the same interests, but never in my life had I experienced a friendship quite like the one I shared with her. Lucy and I shared everything. At times it even seemed like we shared a brain. Lucy and I both had a thing for taking photos of our shadows in the moonlight. Some nights we would keep away from everyone else, and walk around school, the park, even train tracks with our cameras— searching for the perfect shot of our shadows cast on the sidewalk beside us. A few months before I met Lucy, I was diagnosed (诊断) with a rare nervous system disease that would progress if left untreated. I was misdiagnosed for months. Consequently, a lot of time was wasted on the wrong treatments and I was getting worse and worse. Lucy was the first friend I ever told about my situation. “Eventually I might not be able to walk, be in the sun, digest food, eat like a normal person. Or worse,” I said as we sat on a bench one day after school. She was quiet for a moment. “Well, if you can’t walk, I’ll push you and if you can’t eat, I’ll have a food fight with you anyway, and if you become allergic to light we’ll still be able to go shadow-hunting. I’ll be your emotional sunscreen—SPF (防晒指数) 1,000.” “My SPF 1,000, huh?” “Yup,” she laughed. I hugged her. “Thank you.” Days turned into weeks, weeks turned into months and my health worsened. It was getting increasingly difficult for me to get around. Lucy was there with me, every “step” of the way. Finally, things got bad enough that I was forced to leave school. Hospital became my home away from home and I was often there for months at a time. I was very sick and unable to stay in contact with friends, even Lucy. Though I had a nurse to take care of me, I felt lonely. I needed someone to talk to, a friend. 注意: (1) 续写的词数应为150左右; (2) 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 One day, an unexpected visitor arrived at my hospital bedside. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ With Lucy’s company and doctors’ proper treatment, things began to improve. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】One day, an unexpected visitor arrived at my hospital bedside. It was Lucy, with her familiar smile and a bag full of goodies. She looked at me with those warm, comforting eyes and said, “Hey, how’s it going? I’ve brought you some of your favorite books and snacks. I know you’re probably bored here, so I thought we could catch up and maybe even read a chapter together.” Her words were like a ray of sunshine breaking through the darkness of my hospital room. I felt my spirits lift as we talked and laughed, sharing stories of our old adventures and dreaming up new ones. Lucy’s visit was a reminder that even in the darkest times, friends can bring light and hope. With Lucy’s company and doctors’ proper treatment, things began to improve. My strength slowly returned, and I was able to spend more time out of bed. Lucy and I continued to bond, sharing our thoughts and fears about the future. She was always there to listen, to offer advice, and to remind me that I was not alone. Slowly but surely, I began to regain my independence. With Lucy’s unwavering support, I was able to face my illness with courage and determination. I knew that no matter what challenges came my way, I had a friend who would stand by me until the end. 词汇激活 行为类 购买:buy/purchase 返回:return/go back 面对:face/confront 情绪类 孤独的:alone/solitary 决心:determination/resolution 【点睛】[高分句型1] Lucy and I continued to bond, sharing our thoughts and fears about the future.(运用了现在分词作状语) [高分句型2] I knew that no matter what challenges came my way, I had a friend who would stand by me until the end.(运用了that引导宾语从句,no matter what引导让步状语从句,who引导定语从句) Passage 3 (24-25学年高二上·山东日照·期中) 1.阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。 Ben was a young boy, and his parents loved him very much. If he happened to like somebody’s pencils, he was quick to exchange one of his own things for it. While the children were making their lines, Ben’s teacher Miss Kelly asked him to bring some chalk from the classroom. Suddenly, he heard footsteps and quickly put the pen in his pocket. Turning around, he saw Mary entering the class because she was not feeling well. Ben ran out with the chalk in his hand and the pen in his pocket. When everybody came back to the classroom for the next class, Daniel found his pen lost. Then Mom said that Kapil, a high-school student from India, would be staying in their house and living in Lil’s room, for they were the host family. The piece of news made Devon’s stomach feel worse, as he missed his sister so much. “What if I can’t understand him?” Devon asked. “He speaks English well,” Mom said. As days went on, Kapil started spending more time in the rest of the house. He was in the kitchen a lot, whose cooking always filled the air with steam and spice that made Devon’s eyes water. “Smells wonderful!” Mom exclaimed. The doctors talked about the potential side effects of the drugs that might occur over the next two years of treatment. When our parents told our sister she had cancer, her biggest concern was losing her hair. “Will all my hair really fall out? Will people make fun of me?” she asked, her voice filled with worry. “Don’t worry,” I later told her in secret. “When you lose your hair, I’ll shave mine with a razor (剃刀) and we’ll both be bald (秃头的). We’ ll walk down the street proudly with our bald heads held high. We’ll swim, go to parks and play at the beach with our bald heads.” “Promise?” she asked. “Promise,” I replied, thinking it was a small sacrifice (牺牲) as long as it could cheer her and help her recover. The days and weeks of treatment began to affect her little body. As the doctors had warned, she began to lose her hair. At first, I found some on her clothes and towels. A short time later, I found her hair on the backs of the sofas and chairs she’d been on. Before long, there were masses of hair on her pillow every morning as she awoke from her restless sleep. A few days later, she was finally completely bald. Her head was very smooth and soft as I held her. It reminded me of that wonderful time when I held her in my arms and was amazed at how lucky I was to have such a beautiful and healthy baby sister. Her bald head was beautiful, but it also showed the signs of her battle with cancer. One afternoon at home, I thought it was time to shave my head. However, it was then that I began seriously worrying about something. How ugly would I become when I was bald? Would my parents — who always encouraged us to maintain a certain image — scold (责备) me for having my head shaved? Would people, especially my classmates, make fun of me? 注意: (1)续写词数应为150个左右; (2)请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 I was looking at myself in the mirror when my sister approached. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ “It’s beautiful. Her big, innocent eyes searched my face, filled with both curiosity and a hint of admiration. “Are you really going to do it?” she asked softly, her voice breaking the silence. I took a deep breath, feeling a mix of fear and determination. “Yes, I am,” I replied, forcing a smile. “She clapped her hands and squealed, “We’ll be twins!” The first few strokes felt strange, but with each pass of the razor, I felt lighter, as if I were shedding not just my hair, but also my fears and insecurities. “It’s beautiful. Please also help shave our heads,” our parents smiled. Their approval warmed my heart, and I could see the love in their eyes as they watched this moment unfold. As we stood in front of the mirror, I realized that our bald heads symbolized more than just a physical change; they represented our unity and strength in facing her battle against cancer. We were not just a family; we were warriors, ready to take on whatever challenges lay ahead, side by side. 词汇激活 行为类 ①承担:take on/undertake ②意识到:realize/be aware of ③代表:represent/be on behalf of 情绪类 ①害怕:fear/scare ②感觉轻松:feel light/feel relaxed 【点睛】[高分句型1]. She had a quarrel (吵架) with her mother that afternoon and she ran out of the house angrily. She couldn’t help weeping sorrowfully when she thought of the scolding from her mother. Having wandered aimlessly in the street for hours, she felt a little hungry and wished for something to eat. She stood beside a stand (货摊) for a while, watching the middle-aged seller busy doing his business. However, with no money in hand, she gave a sigh and had to leave. The seller behind the stand noticed the young girl and asked, “Hey, girl, you want to have the noodles?” “Oh, yes, but I don’t have money on me.” she replied. “That’s nothing. I’ll treat you today,” said the man, “Come in.” The seller brought her a bowl of noodles, whose smell was so attractive. As she was eating, Jenny cried silently. “What is it?” asked the man kindly. “Nothing. Actually, I was just touched by your kindness!” said Jenny as she wiped her tears. “Even a stranger on the street will give me a bowl of noodles, while my mother drove me out of the house. She showed no care for me. She is so merciless compared to a stranger!” Hearing the words, the seller smiled, “Girl, do you really think so? I only gave you a bowl of noodles and you thanked me a lot. But it is your mother who has raised you since you were a baby. Can you remember the times she cooked for you? Have you expressed your gratitude to her?” Jenny sat there, speechless and numb with shock: she remembered her mother’s familiar face and weathered hands. “Why didn’t I think of that? A bowl of noodles from a stranger made me feel grateful. Why haven’t I thanked my mum for what she has done for me?” On the way home. Jenny made up her mind to make an apology to her mother for her rudeness as soon as she arrived home. 注意: 1. 所续写短文的词数应为150左右; 2. 续写部分分为两段,每段的开头语已为你写好。 Nearing the doorway, Jenny took a deep breath. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ At that time, her mother came back and touched her hair gently, which called her mind back. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】范文 Nearing the doorway, Jenny took a deep breath. When she pushed the door open and entered the house, she found her mother was not in. Tired and sad, she sunk down into the sofa. “Where could my mother be?” she wondered. “Was she still angry with me?” Again, the scene of the quarrel appeared in her mind. She remembered her rudeness to her mother. Realizing that all the scolding from her mother was due to the fact that her mother really cared a lot about her, she felt rather ashamed, tears rolling down her cheeks. At that time, her mother came back and touched her hair gently, which called her mind back. She raised her head and saw the familiar face of her mother. “Here you come! I’ve been looking for you,” she said, fatigued but relieved. Especially, my older brother, Zach, He was 13 months older than me. As an elementary school kid, he loved making fun of his little sister: me. While Zach and I got along sometimes, we more often fought. The fighting only stopped after my parents threatened to punish us. But this never solved anything in the long term, and even though it stopped the fighting for the moment, my anger just kept growing. Toward the end of middle school, we both began collecting Pokemon cards. We saw Pokemon cards as a sort of status (地位) symbol whoever had better cards was the stronger, better, cooler person. It became a collecting competition, and every weekend the neighborhood kids and Zach and I would gather to trade or show off our cards. As I remember, it was impossible to know what cards you would get; it was the luck of the draw. So, it was to my great disappointment and envy when Zach got a holographic (全息图的) Charizard one weekend. Charizard was one of the rarest. The way I saw it, if you got a Charizard card you were basically the king of the world, and if you got a holographic Charizard card, you were the king of the universe. Zach had just won the ultimate jackpot (头奖). One night, Zach wasn’t feeling well. He went to bed with a stomachache. In the middle of the night, he awoke, crying from being in so much pain. I went over to see what was happening. My parents came rushing over and second s later, Zach vomited (呕吐) all over his room; on to the carpet, himself, and. . . the magical Charizard card! My parents immediately took him into the bathroom to get him cleaned up and near a toilet in case he had to vomit any more. 注意: 1. 续写词数应为150左右; 2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 I was left in his room, my heart pounding wildly — what about the messy card? ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Zach did thank me and I felt our relationship softened a bit afterwards. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】One possible version: I was left in his room, my heart pounding wildly what about the messy card? I knew what I had to do. I closed my eyes and picked up the card with my fingertips. I took it into the bathroom and cleaned the card. I dried the wet card on a towel and laid it out to dry. I washed my hands and took a deep breath of relief... I had saved the card. The following night I told Zach what I did, probably hoping for some kind of royal treatment. Zach did thank me and I felt our relationship softened a bit afterwards. As the years passed, the Pokemon cards began collecting dust in our basement. Zach and I became closer than ever. Maybe we were just getting older or had more in common. But I felt that night was a turning point. I didn’t have to give Zach a kidney or anything to show him how much I was willing to do for him. I just had to selflessly clean his Charizard card. I can’t think of a better way to say, “Hey brother, I got your back.” 深呼吸:take a deep breath/breathe deeply ②.保存:save/keep 情绪类 ①.宽慰的:my heart pounding wildly/my heart racing wildly ②.亲密的:close/tight 【点睛】[高分句型1]. After fishing for over three hours, we didn’t catch one fish. I felt so disappointed and impatient. What’s worse, soon after, I broke my fishing pole by accident. Grandpa felt sorry for me, so he handed me his best black fishing pole to use. After I threw the end of the fishing line into the lake, the black fishing pole escaped my hands and went flying into the lake. I tried to catch it before it fell down into the dark water, but it was too late. I jumped into the water at once, but the black fishing pole went down without stopping. I failed to catch it. I climbed back into the boat, feeling totally defeated. Grandpa came up with a plan to pull out the black fishing pole with our green pole, by trying using the pole’s hooks (鱼钩) to catch some part of the black fishing pole. We tried about five times, but we had no luck. I felt so bad. It was Grandpa’s favorite pole, and now it was lost forever. Grandpa, not willing to give up yet, said, “Okay, Max, hold on; let’s just have another try.” Not wanting to see Grandpa suffer from another struggle and failure, I walked closer to him, deciding to talk him out of continuing another try. But just before I opened my mouth, my grandma, who had died two months earlier, came into my mind. And I remembered her words: “Max, when you face challenges and feel hopeless, be patient and confident. If so, you’ll probably have good luck in the end.” Thinking about her words, I decided not to prevent Grandpa from having another try. I watched Grandpa fix his special silver lure (鱼饵) to one hook on the end of the fishing line. The other hooks were left empty. The heavy lure could help the hooks reach the bottom of the water. When he finished fixing the lure into place, he threw the end of the fishing line into the lake and dragged(拖)it around on the bottom. 注意: 1. 续写词数应为150 左右; 2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 I watched the line circle around the lake. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Then, we saw the green pole’s hooks catch the black pole and also a fish! ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】One possible version: I watched the line circle around the lake. When Grandpa began pulling the line back, a smile crossed his face. It seemed that this time he had caught the pole. He continued pulling the green pole’s line back. And then, his favorite black fishing pole started coming out of the depths of the lake! I couldn’t believe it! As he kept bringing the green pole’s line back, he noticed a sudden strong pull on the end of the line. He pulled it very slowly. Then, we saw the green pole’s hooks catch the black pole and also a fish! Grandpa and I couldn’t help laughing. After we calmed down, we carefully pulled out the fish and also the black fishing pole. Then, we continued fishing and gladly caught more fish. Even I caught a beautiful fish. After that, every time I came across some unpleasant things, my grandma’ words would come to my mind and cheer me up. 词汇激活 行为类 开始:begin/start 看见:see/spot/notice 继续:continue/go on 情绪类 漂亮:beautiful /gorgeous 不愉快的:unpleasant / displeasing 【点睛】[高分句型1] As he kept bringing the green pole’s line back, he noticed a sudden strong pull on the end of the line. Eventually, he would become blind. Although I had worked as a nurse with many unfortunate patients over the years, Harold’s calmness touched me deeply. He was so young, yet he never asked for anything and never complained. Moreover, he trusted us completely.   One day, while the other three nurses and I were helping Harold pack up his things. I asked him a very hard question, ”If you could have one wish, what would it be? “Harold sat back on his bed, thinking. Finally, he turned to us and answered softly but with certainty, ” I would like to see what an ocean looks like. " We all looked at Harold before finally meeting each other’s eyes. We wanted to make his wish come true, but how? Later that day, as we gathered for a quick dinner, we thought about it and decided to raise money for Harold’s wish. We hosted a big bake sale and told the local news media about our mission. Within days, Harold’s trip got increasing support as word spread like wildfire through our community. By the end of our campaign, we had raised more than three thousand dollars! And a charity agreed to give us two plane tickets to California, which is on the Pacific Ocean. It meant that one of Harold’s family members could accompany him during the trip to the sea. Ellen, our head nurse, had a brother living in Sacramento, California. When it was time for them to board the plane, Harold hugged us tightly, saying thanks again and again with tears in his eyes. As their plane took off, we watched until it disappeared from sight. Harold and his mother were met in Sacramento by Ellen’s brother. Although they had never met before, they soon bonded and drove off to the ocean that Harold had longed to see. Four days later, we waited anxiously at their arrival gate. As they finally appeared, he was smiling from ear to ear. For the first time since we had known him, soft-spoken Harold didn’t stop talking. He excitedly described the waves, fishing boats, ocean creatures, and everything else he had seen. We were glad we helped him have good memories. 1】When it was time for them to board the plane, Harold hugged us tightly, saying thanks again and again with tears in his eyes. The house was near the beautiful blue sea. At the seaside stood thick and tall palm trees (椰子树) with green coconuts hanging from them. When the coconuts fell down, Sami would break them open and drink the coconut water. Sami liked to play under the trees. It was always great fun to spend the holidays at Grandpa’s place. This winter vacation, Sami was surprised when he came to his grandfather’s village. There were hardly any trees left. He saw a house built near the sea. People had cut down many palm trees and there was hardly any greenery left. Grandpa’s house was different. He never allowed his trees to be cut. He hugged each palm tree in his courtyard. He also named the two big trees near the front door: one was Petu, and the other Betu. He had planted them with his own hands and today they became large, massive trees with thick trunks. They were tall and green and gave the sweetest juiciest coconuts. One night, Sami was awakened by a strange sound. He could not sleep. Suddenly, the ground shook as if the earth was splitting. He sat up straight and then ran to Grandpa. He clung (抓) to his grandpa tightly. Grandpa cried out, “It’s an earthquake!” They ran outside the house. They thought that would be safe. Suddenly, there was a loud sound: the earth was not splitting, but the sea was roaring. People were shouting, screaming and crying, “The sea is rising! The sea is rising.” The villagers started running away from the beach. The waves were rising higher and higher. Sami thought, “How big the waves are!” He went into the house again and saw water coming in from all sides. He was scared. Sami remembered his mother telling him long ago, “You must always get out of the house if the floods come too near.” He ran outside the house with Grandpa. But the water came surging in. Waves about twelve meters high came rushing in, drowning everything. Water was all around and everywhere. 注意: 1.续写词数应为150左右; 2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 Grandpa held Sami’s hand tightly, but a huge wave separated them. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ “Sami, come to me, quickly,” Grandpa cried, holding the tree. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】One possible version: Grandpa held Sami’s hand tightly, but a huge wave separated them. Sami was swept away, struggling to keep his head above the water, his heart pounding with fear. Through the chaos, he saw Grandpa, who was swimming steadily toward Betu, the big palm tree that stood like a giant in the storm. Despite the strong waves pushing against him, Grandpa never stopped, finally reaching the tree and holding onto it tightly. Seeing Grandpa safe, Sami felt his fear fade, replaced by a glimmer of hope. He knew he had to be brave, just like Grandpa. “Sami, come to me, quickly,” Grandpa cried, holding the tree. Spotting a piece of wood floating nearby, Sami grabbed it and used it to push himself toward Grandpa. The waves tried to pull him back, but he fought harder, refusing to give up. Grandpa stretched out his hand, his eyes filled with hope, as if saying, “You can do it!” With one last try, Sami caught Grandpa’s hand, and they clung to the tree, shaking but safe. As the waves crashed around them, Sami realized something: these trees, which Grandpa had planted years ago, had become their lifeline. He promised himself to protect the trees and the environment, just as Grandpa had always taught him. 词汇激活 行为类 ①跳动:pound/beat/race ②抓住:hold onto/grasp/grab/sieze/catch ③伸出:stretch out/reach out 情绪类 ①害怕:with fear/ with terror/in panic ②希望:with hope/hopefully 【点睛】[高分句型1] Sami was swept away, struggling to keep his head above the water, his heart pounding with fear. It was about a nine-year-old dog, Charlie, nicknamed the loneliest in Britain. He had been in a rescue center in Somerset for more than 500 days. For some reason, nobody wanted to ad opt him. I clicked on the link and right away Charlie’ shuge, sad eyes stared back at me. I was attracted by him. I turned to my husband, Sam, and said: “We’ve got to have him.” He read the article over my shoulder and felt exactly the same way. We wanted to give Charlie a happy home and a new life. Over the past few years we have tried to adopt a few different dogs, but we haven’t had any luck—we were never top of the list. Sam and I got used to filling in forms and not hearing anything. We’d almost given up hope. But Charlie is an older dog and we felt we’d be suited—even older dogs have a lot of love left to offer. So we took our time with the application, sent photographs of our house and garden. We explained why Charlie would be happy with us, and then forgot all about it. A few days later we received an email from Brent Knoll animal center, saying we’d been shortlisted. We were so amazed! They asked us to visit Charlie and to see if he liked us. When we arrived, we were taken to the staff room. We didn’t know what to expect. We hadn’t been told much about Charlie’s circumstances, but as he had been given up for adoption and hadn’t been placed with a new owner for so long, we thought there might be issues. But the dog was full of joy and charisma (魅力). 注意: 1.续写词数应为150左右; 2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 He came straight over to us, all curious. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Day after day, we occupied ourselves in Charlie’s company. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】He came straight over to us, all curious. With his tail wagging, he sniffed us carefully. Seeing this, I felt seized by a wave of excitement mixed with nervousness, and my palms sweated. Contrary to what we had imagined, Charlie was so energetic that he jumped on my husband’s knees with eyes twinkling with joy. I held him in my arms, and giggled in satisfaction. Instinctively, he barked and licked my face. “He’s just what I want!” I cried and brought him home. Day after day, we occupied ourselves in Charlie’ s company. During the day, he played his ball with us and enjoyed the sun in the garden. My husband would sit on the chair and picture his back time while Charlie was always next to him. In the evenings, he slept quietly on the carpet. The dim light was on; the whole room was filled with warmth and love. We knew then that love can melt his loneliness. 词汇激活 行为类 ①跳:jump/leap/skip ②带回家:bring...home/take...home ③享受阳光:enjoy the sun/share the sunshine 情绪类 ①兴奋:excitement/thrill ②高兴:joy/delight 【点睛】[高分句型1] Contrary to what we had imagined, Charlie was so energetic that he jumped on my husband’s knees with eyes twinkling with joy. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Passage 3 (24-25学年高二上·山东菏泽·期中) 1.阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。 Joseph was my best friend. But unluckily, he later lost his company and house. And he became a homeless man, living under a bridge. Derek sometimes begged near the train station. One spring morning, he walked on the street there and noticed two boys, who looked like twins. They were begging for money from the people coming and going. When seeing him, they walked towards him. “Hello,” they said. “Can we have some money to buy food?” Derek was shocked; it had been some time since someone asked him for money. “Sorry,” he replied. But they didn’t move. They looked like they were 11. They watched him with sad eyes. Derek couldn’t stand it; they looked dirty and were clearly making a living on the streets, too. He finally decided to give them all of the coins he had. The money would have covered his lunch that day. But he knew the boys needed it more. So he gave it to them, preparing to starve (挨饿) until he could beg for enough to have food. He didn’t expect the twins would buy some food and return to share it with. him, but they did. “We saw it was the only money you had left. So we would share it with you,” the boys told him. “Thank you,” he replied sincerely. They reached a corner of the subway and started to eat. Derek saw it as a chance to find out more about the boys. He asked, “What’s your story?” “We moved here with our mother Vanessa from another city. But we got separated from her in the crowd and got lost,” Tom said. “Have you been begging on the streets since then?” Derek asked. “Yes. The piece of news made Devon’s stomach feel worse, as he missed his sister so much. “What if I can’t understand him?” Devon asked. “He speaks English well,” Mom said. On Kapil’s first day, he exchanged some small talk with Devon before disappearing into his new room. Lil’s room, Devon reminded himself. As days went on, Kapil started spending more time in the rest of the house. He was in the kitchen a lot, whose cooking always filled the air with steam and spice that made Devon’s eyes water. “Smells wonderful!” Mom exclaimed. When Lil called a few days later, Devon told her about Kapil’s cooking. “Lucky! I love Indian food!” Lil said. “But it seems too spicy forme,” replied Devon. When Devon got home from school, Kapil greeted him at the door. “Would you like a snack?” Kapil asked. Devon shrugged. Lil and he used to cook together after school, which they called “making messes.” Kapil opened the refrigerator. “How about a yogurt?” “I had one at breakfast,” responded Devon in a cold voice. Kapil opened a cupboard and smiled. “Wait here.” He returned with a package. “I’ll cook an Indian snack,” he announced. Kapil pulled out around, thin cracker the size of a small Frisbee, poured oil into a pan and fried the cracker. Then the kitchen was filled with spicy smells. He was an eighteen-year-old quiet boy from a poor family. He came to our hospital in Yankton, South Dakota because of an eye disease. It turned out that this disease was unable to be cured, and with each passing day, his eyesight became worse. He agreed to receive them for their four-day trip. 注 意 : 1. 续写词数应为150左右; 2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 We four nurses went to visit Harold to give him the surprise. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Harold and his mother were met in Sacramento by Ellen’s brother. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Passage 6 (24-25学年高二上·山东枣庄·期中) 1.阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。 Ten-year-old Sami loved to visit his grandfather’s house. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 主题03 人与自然——救助动物 Passage 1 (23-24学年高二上·山东日照·期中) 1.阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。 I was eating breakfast at home in Hampshire in March this year, scrolling (滚屏) through social media on my phone, when a story caught my eye. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ / 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
