Throughout all the events in my life, one in particular sticks out more than the others. As I reflect on this significant event, a smile spreads across my face. As I think of Shanda, I feel loved and grateful.
It was my twelfth year of dancing and I thought it would end up like any other year: stuck in emptiness, forgotten and without the belief of any teacher or friend that I really had the potential to achieve greatness.
However, I met Shanda, a young, talented choreographer (舞蹈指导). She influenced me to work to the best of my ability, pushed me to keep going when I wanted to give up, encouraged me and showed me the real importance of dancing. Throughout our hard work, not only did my ability to dance grow, but my friendship with Shanda grew as well.
With the end of the year came our show time. As I walked to a backstage filled with other dancers, I hoped for a good performance that would prove my improvement. I waited anxiously for my turn. Finally, after what seemed like days, the loudspeaker announced my name. Butterflies filled my stomach as I took trembling steps onto the big lighted stage. But, with the determination to succeed and eagerness to live up to Shanda’s expectations for me, I began to dance. All my troubles and nerves went away as I danced my whole heart out.
As I walked up to the judge to receive my first place shining, gold trophy (奖杯), I realized that dance is not about becoming the best. It was about loving dance for dance itself, a getaway from all my problems in the world. Shanda showed me that you could let everything go and just dance what you feel at that moment. After all the doubts that people had in me, I believed in myself and did not care what others thought. Thanks to Shanda, dance became more than a love of mine, but a passion.
24.What did the author think her dancing would be for the twelfth year?
A.A change for the better. B.A disappointment as before.
C.A proof of her potential. D.A pride of her teachers and friends.
25.How did Shanda help the author?
A.By offering her help with money. B.By entering her in a competition.
C.By awakening her passion for dancing. D.By coaching her for longer hours.
26.How did the author feel when she stepped on the stage?
A.Nervous. B.Relaxed. C.Confused. D.Proud.
27.What can we learn from the author’s story?
A.Success lies in patience. B.Fame is what the young long for.
C.A good teacher really matters. D.A youth is to be treated with respect.

If you ever visit an English village, make sure to look out for Morris dance. Undoubtedly as one of the strangest traditions of English culture, Morris dance is a form of folk dance that dates back to the 15th century. If you ever get the chance, you really have to see it.
Men and women wearing old-fashioned and worn clothing dance in the streets of towns and villages across the country during the holiday periods. Women wear long, frilly (多褶边的) skirts and men wear short trousers with bells attached (系) to them. They dance to traditional folk music which is often played on traditional musical instruments.
Some groups carry heavy black sticks with which they beat against each other while they dance. Other groups wave handkerchiefs in the air while they perform. The dances are usually performed near a pub so that when it’s over, the dancers and the audience can sing some traditional folk songs over a pint of beer. The celebrations will often continue long into the night, by which point most people are too drunk to think about performing again.
Morris dance is a great English tradition but it’s facing a big crisis (危机). As the years go by, fewer and fewer young people are joining Morris dance groups. The dancers are getting older and older and finally, if nothing is done to change this trend, the tradition will die out within the next few decades.
If you’ve ever had the fortune to see Morris dance, you may catch on to why teenagers aren’t rushing to sign up. Putting it to the point, it’s not exactly the coolest thing for an 18-year-old to do. Why dress up in bells and funny clothes when you could go clubbing? Or play sport? Or do anything else?
However, it would be a great pity to lose such a fun and lively part of England’s history and culture. It’s important to preserve some traditions and customs especially when it’s something as harmless and happy as Morris dance. So here’s a toast to the next generation of would-be Morris dancers!
28.What do we know about the Morris dancers?
A.They dance in pubs late into the night.
B.They sing folk songs while they dance.
C.They wear long dresses with bells attached.
D.They perform with sticks or handkerchiefs.
29.What is the present situation of Morris dance?
A.It holds little attraction for young people.
B.It is keeping pace with people’s demands.
C.It has been protected by the government.
D.It is being changed by modern people.
30.What does the underlined phrase “catch on to” mean?
A.Predict. B.Understand. C.Object. D.Complain.
31.What is the text mainly about?
A.The origin of Morris dance. B.The popularity of Morris dance.
C.The protection of Morris dance. D.The introduction of Morris dance.

A quiet space is often considered essential for achieving the concentration that leads to academic success. But research shows that some students may benefit from breaking the silence with certain kinds of music while they study. Music has a powerful influence on both the body and the brain, in ways that can help students navigate the physical and emotional barriers that come with academic challenges.
One US study compared students who took a test to soft music with those who took the test under silent conditions. The study found that students taking a test to music not only completed more questions within a set time but also answered more questions correctly. Music has been further linked to improvements in memory and recall. Experts have found that when music stimulates mood and motivation, students are able to learn more and to better demonstrate their knowledge.
A bit of mood music affects more than just memory and recall when students hit the books. Music can also relieve stress associated with school. Scientists have learned that music engages the autonomic nervous system, which not only controls the unconscious functions of the body but also influences emotions. So it’s no surprise that researchers from the Group Health Research Institute concluded that certain kinds of background music can be just as effective at reducing stress as a massage. Furthermore, while the brain feels better with music, the body may as well. Research shows that certain types of music can make physical pain feel less intense. What’s more, calming music with a steady, meditative rhythm can help people sleep longer and more deeply.
However, some educators express concern that listening to music while trying to concentrate may do more harm than good. Loud music may have a negative influence on a student’s mood or act as a distraction. Actually, the best approach may depend on the students themselves. Listening to music during study time may not mean a guaranteed A for all students, but those who find it helpful should be allowed to plug in their headphones.
32.What does the underlined word “navigate” in the first paragraph probably mean?
A.Recognize. B.Overcome.
C.Assess. D.Create.
33.What can we learn from this passage?
A.Music helps students get rid of physical pain.
B.Loud music has the same calming effect as a massage.
C.Listening to music makes it easier for students to multitask.
D.Music helps students better remember relevant information.
34.The author writes Paragraph 3 mainly to ______.
A.present the effects of music on mind and body
B.compare the functions of different types of music
C.confirm the impacts of music on memory and recall
D.give examples of the influences of music on emotions
35.Which of the following would be the best title for this passage?
A.The Power of Silence B.Music to a Patient
C.The Score to Better Scores D.Road to Academic Success

Music’s role is much more than entertainment. Scientific studies show it activates nearly every brain region and keeps lots of brain networks strong, including those networks about emotion, happiness, movement and learning.
36 For example, hospitals use calming music to ease patients’ anxiety before operation, which proves music can touch emotions beyond words. Neuroscientists find that familiar songs set off dopamine (多巴胺) release, creating natural joy without medication. Music also builds bridges where words fail. At global events like the Olympics, national anthems (国歌) unite audience, stirring up strong emotional resonance (共鸣).
37 The result turned out as expected. Researchers from MIT found that singing in a choir may reduce loneliness and increase interest in life among diverse older adults, including those with Alzheimer’s disease who lost some memory. 38 Studies showed that music therapy can help older adults with Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders improve their walking and reduce falls.
Music improves the performance in study. 39 More surprisingly, language learners mastering vocabulary through song lyrics progressed 30% faster than traditional methods. Students learning art report higher productivity with background instrumental music — brainwave synchronization explains this boost.
Everyone can access its benefits without training. Try exploring free music apps, sharing meaningful songs with friends, or attending local concerts. Even singing softly to yourself when stressed can lower blood pressure. 40 Its power is everywhere, ready for you to find and use.
A.Music helps the old people feel much happier.
B.Music even shows promise in preventing injury.
C.Music provides emotional benefits in many ways.
D.Doctors often play soft music to relax the patients.

The first time the shopkeeper of the musical instruments saw her, she couldn’t have been more than nine years old. She was shy, standing outside his shop, half-hidden beside the door.
She spent ten minutes outside the door, building up her courage, then grasped the door handle and slipped into the shop. She timidly (腼腆地) approached the shopkeeper. Her eyes wandered around, attracted by the wonderful variety of instruments. “I want to buy a ukulele (四弦吉他),” she said, almost in a whisper. “Certainly,” replied the shopkeeper warmly, hoping to put her at ease. He led his customer to the section where the ukuleles were displayed. Surveying the selection of wooden instruments mounted on the wall, he remembered the sense of satisfaction he’d had in creating each one.
“I have several models available. Beginner models start at 30 dollars. They’re not top quality, but they’re easier to get a sound out if you’ve never played before. Mid-range instruments are between eighty and a hundred dollars, with a higher quality,” he said. Her dark eyes were open wide, staring at the instruments in wonder. “I only have 25 dollars,” she said softly. He felt a sense of pity. “Well,” he said, “I have good news for you. First-time customers get a thirty percent discount.” A spark flashed to life in her eyes, and she looked at him with hope. He took down the ukulele and handed it to her. “So you can have this one for twenty-one.” Her hands closed around the instrument like it was the most precious thing she’d ever held. She handed him the money and rushed out of the shop, as if she were afraid he would change his mind.
It was a warm summer afternoon, three years later, when he took out his ukulele to practice. His window was open to the fresh night breeze. Making instruments was how he made his living, and playing them was his favorite. As his body moved with the music he played, he created a story in the air. But it was a long time before he realized he had an echo (回声), and seemingly someone was copying him.

The chocolate brown dog got a kind of eye disease when it was six and slowly losing its sight over the next year. When Jack’s owner got him, he was already lost its sight. She has looked after five other disabled dogs before, so she knew how to teach him how to stop and smell the air. Whenever they were out walking, wherever there was water, Jack could sense it. Jack soon started going into ponds using his sense of smell. He could often be seen with his owner swimming in pools in the park. His owner was confident he could become a winner with his special talents in water. Jack’s owner said that he is very friendly and is the happiest dog she’s ever had. No matter what happens, Jack just never gives up.

I hope we will do more cultural exchanges in the future so as to understand each other better and build a closer relationship between the two countries than before,” added Lang Lang.
【答案】
56.warmly 57.musicians 58.to play 59.made 60.was chosen 61.beautiful 62.in 63.the 64.but 65.me
“It is/was one's first time to do sth.”是固定句型,意思是“这是某人第一次做某事”,所以这里要用动词不定式to play。故填to play。
59.考查动词时态。句意:低温使这对他来说颇具挑战性。根据上下文语境,这里描述的是过去发生的事情,所以要用一般过去时。make的过去式是 made。故填made。
故填was chosen。
“be interested in”是固定短语,意思是“对……感兴趣”,所以这里填in。故填in。
63.考查冠词。句意:在郎朗弹奏第三首曲子之前,他的手指有点冷,但他并不惧怕大雪和稀薄的空气。在序数词前一般要用定冠词the,表示顺序“第三”。故填the。
64.考查连词。句意:在郎朗弹奏第三首曲子之前,他的手指有点冷,但他并不惧怕大雪和稀薄的空气。前一句提到手指冷,后一句说不惧怕恶劣环境,前后形成转折关系,所以用连词but。故填but。
故填me。

Hello, my name is li Hua. I’m greatly honored to share with you my experience of how music has helped me.
Have you ever been in deep sorrow wanting to do nothing? At 16, informed that my beloved grandma had been away forever, I was in low spirit for almost half a year till I came across You raise me up, a song sung by Westlife. It seized my heart! I finally got out of the haze.
As Beethoven once said, “Music is a higher revelation than all wisdom and philosophy.” It’s absolutely true! Music encouraged me to relax my mind and soul. It’s like sunshine, which always warms my heart.
Hoping that music can be your companion too. Thank you!

【答案】范文
Surprised, he stopped playing and listened, and there was silence. He frowned, wondering if he had just imagined it. But then, the soft music of a ukulele came again, hesitantly copying his melody. He walked over to the window and looked out. There, on the steps outside his shop sat a girl, her fingers nervously plucking the strings of a ukulele. It was the same girl from three years ago. She looked up, her eyes wide with surprise and a hint of fear. He waved at her, and she smiled nervously in return. He could see that she had grown taller, but her love for music remained the same.
“Come inside and I’ll teach you to play it the way it is meant to be played,” he said to the girl. She hesitated for a moment, then stood up and walked inside. The shopkeeper led her to a small practice area and showed her how to hold the ukulele properly. He guided her through the basic chords, and she quickly caught on. Her passion for music was evident in every note she played. As they played together, he realized that his small act of kindness had not only sold a ukulele but also sparked a lifelong love for music in this young girl.

E.As Plato noted, “Music gives soul to the universe.”

第一节(满分15分)
Thank you!
第二节(满分25分)
