第三大题:阅读理解。(每小题2分, 共40分)
A
Nowadays, many schools in China are teaching life skills as well as traditional school subjects. Some people say this prepares students better for life in the real world, while some say it is not necessary.
In my opinion, schools should prepare us students for our future life. Life skills such as budget(预算) planning and saving money can stop us from overspending. It is also a good idea to learn cooking. This skill is the most helpful to you when you live by yourself.
On the other hand, some people think that there is no time for extra subjects at school and students should learn life skills only at home. As for me, I think we are learning many life skills while taking a traditional class. For example, we can learn teamwork by playing group games in a P. E. class, and doing our homework teaches us skills in time planning.
So I think all schools should teach life skills. It doesn’t need too much extra work, but it can help students well prepare for their college life and work after college.

D. life skills are not easy for students to learn

“Volunteering makes you look at the world differently. You see how little things can change a person’s life for the better, which makes everyone a better person,” Mason, a volunteer, said.
National Volunteer Week started in 1974 and is held every April. It is a time to thank volunteers for their achievements. It is also a perfect opportunity (机会) to encourage others to take their first step towards becoming a volunteer. Making the decision to take the first step can be the biggest problem because they often wonder if they will be able to meet the organization’s expectations. Some people fear not knowing anyone else in the group. Not having enough time also prevents some from sharing their abilities.
The following tips can help if you have some of these worries.
·Start out slowly, and don’t add too much pressure. Even a few hours a month can make a big difference to someone’s life.
·Choose an organization with the same interests and common values.
·Take part in a training meeting for new volunteers, even if it is not asked.
·Work with a veteran volunteer. He volunteered a lot and he can help you increase the confidence and completely understand the organization’s expectations.
·Invite a friend or family member to serve. It is a good experience to volunteer with them.
·Finally, it is important to enjoy the volunteer experience and to remember that not all volunteer experiences are perfect. If one experience doesn’t work, don’t give up and you’ll surely find the right opportunity.
Spend some time on voluntary work and you will see great changes in people’s lives. As Mason discovered during his volunteer experience, “…. little things can change a person’s life”.

You may know about “junk food” like French fries But do you know about “junk sleep”?
A British survey shows that there are many electronic products (产品) in teenagers’ bedrooms. They are influencing teenagers’ sleep badly. The survey was done among (在……中) 1,000 British kids from 12 to 16. It was found that 50% of them got just 4 to 7 hours’ sleep every day. But doctors said they needed 8 to 9 hours. Almost 25% of the kids said they often fell asleep while they were watching TV, listening to music or using other electronic products.
“This is very worrying,” said Dr.Chris, a British professor (教授). “We call it ‘junk sleep’. It means you don’t get enough sleep and the quality (质量) of the sleep is low, too.” The survey found that quite a few of the kids felt tired each day because of the junk sleep, especially girls between 13 and 16. Nearly all the teenagers have a phone, music player or TV in their bedrooms. And lots of them even have all the three.
Dr. Chris suggested (建议) that parents should help their children keep away from electronic products, and that teenagers should spend less time on the electronic products.

考查介词辨析。for为了;about关于;with和……一起;of……的;to对……;up向上。根据语境可知,第一空是关心残疾人,用care for“关心”;第二空是make a great difference to“对……产生很大影响”,是固定短语。故选A。

【答案】例文
Help with Some Housework
It is reported that children who love doing chores have a better future and are easy to feel happy. As for me, I think it’s good for children to do some housework.
Firstly, doing housework can train children’s independence. They can’t depend on others all the time. Secondly, it helps children take better care of themselves. When they grow up, they can live well on their own.
However, some people disagree. They think doing housework is a waste of time. Children should spend more time on study and there’s no need for them to do housework.
I often help my parents with housework. I usually sweep the floor, wash the dishes and take out the rubbish. I believe doing housework not only makes me feel a sense of achievement but also strengthens the relationship between my parents and me.
