In many countries golf is a sport for the rich, but not in Scotland. You can see all sorts of people participating, including rubbish collectors, business people and celebrities. This means that anyone can play and it doesn't depend on your bank balance or how famous you are. The game itself was invented by farmers, and has always been hugely popular and addictive. In fact, King James I once banned it because his soldiers were playing golf instead of training for war. Golf is a serious game that has been around for about 500 years, and respecting traditions is central to playing it. Even these days golf remains a very decent game. It is very important to be respectful towards your fellow players and towards the course itself. In fact, most golfers carry little forks to repair damage to the course. And heated discussions have been known to take place in golf clubs concerning the rules of golf and how to interpret them. Annoying(令人厌烦) 解析:此题为细节推理题。 ARE YOU KEEPING THEM UP FOREVER??!!!",使用多个感叹号和全大写这种在网络语境中表示强烈情绪的书写方式,进一步印证了邻居的厌烦态度。 A bulb flashed unpredictably(有个灯泡会无法预测地闪烁) 解析:此题为细节定位题。解题需准确对应第三段中关于灯泡故障的具体描述:"one green bulb that went on and off for no reason"(一个毫无理由时亮时灭的绿色灯泡),其中"for no reason"(毫无理由)对应"unpredictably"(无法预测),"went on and off"(时亮时灭)对应"flashed"(闪烁)。 D. She grew attached to them(对灯饰产生了感情) 解析:此题为情感理解题。 D. The writer still plans on putting the lights up(作者仍计划再次悬挂这些灯饰) 解析:此题为核心推理题。 该研究的研究人员此前主要关注成人大脑中帮助导航的三个区域:PPA(让我们识别地点并进行分类)、RSC(将这些地点映射到更大空间中)和OPA(防止我们撞到物体)。 A. They can mentally map a large environment.(他们能够在脑海中绘制大型环境的地图) 解析:此题为因果细节题。解题关键在于精准定位第四段的实验结论表述:"the children were able to create a map in their minds, using RSC in their brains to facilitate navigation in larger spaces"。 OPA doesn't fully develop until the age of 8"直接矛盾;C选项混淆脑区功能,PPA负责地点识别而非避障(OPA的功能);D选项与第二段"even before they can walk well"的表述相悖。 29. C. To make the experiment engaging for kids.(为了让实验对儿童具有吸引力) 解析:此题为实验设计目的题。解题需关注第三段研究者的直接引语:"it's also important that participants have a good time and a good impression of science",其中"have a good time"明确指向实验的趣味性和参与体验。 Divided(分裂的) 解析:此题为词义推断题。 制片人的引言"learned how polarising the subject is"正是对这种对立现状的总结。 D. The decline of natural enemies(天敌的减少) 解析:此题为因果细节题。 Animals, like dingoes, which feed on them, are becoming rare, so when the grass they eat is sufficient, their numbers jump"。 A. Out of the frying pan, into the fire(才出虎穴,又入狼窝) 解析:此题为观点推断题。 (B)“Part of parenting is being powerless” 是全文的核心论点,承上启下。 它并非一份邀请函,而是共同经历失望的过程(the chance to walk through disappointment together)。 “Powerless”一词直接与后文的“can’t smooth every rough edge”和“fixing it isn’t always the assignment”形成同义复现,逻辑关系极为紧密。 39. “What surprised me most”表达了转折和意外之感,“the next day”建立了时间顺序,自然地引出了女儿的行为,构成了文章的情感高潮。 40. A. After all, honesty is the best policy. D. I encouraged her to show forgiveness to the kid. (She wrote a little note... No bitterness. 41. 前文Arnold问"if I connect?",这里的"connect"在棒球术语中即指"击球",与"with his baseball bat"形成动宾搭配。 A. blamed(责备):不符合救援人员的行为B. consulted(咨询):救援现场不需要咨询受害者C. pleased(使高兴):与紧急救援的严肃氛围不符 48. A. witness(证人):是人,不能"look up into a tree for" B. solution(解决方案):过于抽象,人们首先需要的是线索而非解决方案D. excuse(借口):不符合人们探究真相的心理 50. B. humble(谦卑的):描述性格而非处境C. familiar(熟悉的):虽然Benny是朋友,但此处重点是受伤状态而非熟悉程度D. energetic(精力充沛的):与受伤状态相反 51. A. 常见的形容词变副词规则:①一般情况直接加-ly(quick→quickly);②以-y结尾的形容词变-y为-i再加-ly(happy→happily);③以-le结尾的去e加-y(possible→possibly);④特殊情况(good→well)。 57. 该结构相当于省略的定语从句(which is traditionally served warm)。 常见的类似结构:a book written by Lu Xun(鲁迅写的书);a problem solved(已解决的问题)。 特别注意:以元音音素开头的词用an,以辅音音素开头的词用a(如:an hour, a university)。 60. 考点引申: 定语从句关系词选择:①指人:主格who,宾格whom,所有格whose;②指物:which/that;③指时间:when;④指地点:where;⑤指原因:why。 考点引申: 常见的形容词后缀:①-able/-ible(comfortable, possible);②-ful(beautiful, helpful);③-less(careless, homeless);④-ous(famous, dangerous);⑤-ive(active, attractive);⑥-al(national, natural)。 62. 详细分析: "range from...to..." 考点引申: 英语中常见的固定搭配:①动词+介词:look after, depend on;②形容词+介词:good at, interested in;③名词+介词:key to, answer to;④介词短语:in front of, by means of。 考点引申: 名词复数变化规则:①一般加-s;②以s, x, ch, sh结尾加-es;③以辅音字母+y结尾,变y为i再加-es;④以f/fe结尾,变f/fe为v再加-es;⑤不规则变化:man→men, child→children;⑥单复数同形:sheep, deer。 64. 时态通过be动词的变化体现:①一般现在时:am/is/are done;②一般过去时:was/were done;③现在完成时:have/has been done;④过去完成时:had been done;⑤一般将来时:will be done。 65. 考点引申: 分词作状语的几种情况:①时间状语:When walking...;②原因状语:Being ill...;③条件状语:Given more time...;④伴随状语:He sat there, reading a book。 Dear Janet, I’m glad to hear you are trying to enrich your class by integrating other subjects. I hope this email finds you well. I’m writing to share my idea for incorporating content from other subjects into our English classes. I think it would be a great idea to integrate topics from science, such as environmental issues or simple experiments, into our lessons. For example, we could discuss climate change or conduct a small project while using English to describe the process and findings. The reason behind this is that it would make English learning more engaging and practical. By connecting English with real-world topics, we can improve our language skills while also gaining knowledge in other areas. This approach would encourage us to think critically and use English in a more natural and meaningful way. Thank you for considering my suggestion. I believe it will make our classes even more interesting and effective. 开篇礼貌寒暄,表明目的:信件开头采用标准商务邮件格式("I hope this email finds you well"),迅速建立礼貌且专业的基调,并直接说明来信目的是分享"incorporating content from other subjects"的想法,直接切入主题。 阐明理由与价值升华:作者从教育效果和能力培养两个层面解释建议的理由:既能使英语学习"more engaging and practical"(更吸引人、更实用),又能促进"think critically"(批判性思考)和"use English in a more natural and meaningful way"(更自然、更有意义地使用英语)。 (I'm writing to...", "Thank you for considering...") 句式:运用多样化的句式结构,如复合句("By connecting..., we can...")、状语从句("while using English...") I’m writing to share my idea for... I’m writing to share my idea for incorporating content from other subjects into our English classes. I think it would be a great idea to... I think it would be a great idea to integrate topics from science, such as environmental issues or simple experiments, into our lessons. 举例论证句 句式: For example, we could... For example, we could discuss climate change or conduct a small project while using English to describe the process and findings. The reason behind this is that... The reason behind this is that it would make English learning more engaging and practical. “方式状语+主句”结构 句式: By doing..., we can... By connecting English with real-world topics, we can improve our language skills while also gaining knowledge in other areas. Thank you for considering my suggestion. Thank you for considering my suggestion. It all began with a “fun” indoor hockey tournament (曲棍球锦标赛) for U1l,U12, and U13kids. The organizers even encouraged U10 players to join, so naturally, the boys and girls I coached jumped at the chance. They loved hockey, but most had never played indoors before—not even once. They didn’t even have a goalkeeper. “No problem,” the organizers promised us. “You can put an extra player on the field.” On the day of the tournament, we found out our U10 team was drawn into a group with U13 players—many of them were provincial-level stars. It was going to be a mismatch, to say the least. But our kids? They were excited. They wanted to try, and they were ready to face whatever came their way. That was, until the first whistle (哨声) blew. When the older kids, skilled and confident, began flicking (挑击) the ball with incredible force our kids had to dive and duck because they had no protective masks (面罩) on their faces. With no goalkeeper to protect the net, they had no choice but to block the shots (射门) with whatever they had—arms, legs, and pure willpower. But still, it was a one-sided killing, with my little players struggling to fight a losing battle. I looked at the organizers, hoping they would step in. But their response was cold. “This is just a fun tournament,” they said, “but there are prizes. Flicking stays.” And so, our young team faced wave after wave of nonstop shots from players much older and stronger. Each time the ball slipped past them and a goal was scored, I saw something in their eyes-although they didn't look for sympathy, that eager search for hope was clearly weakening. None of the parents, teachers, or schoolmates seated aside was making a sound. It seemed the entire arena (竞技场) was in dead silence. I couldn’t just stand there, doing nothing. My heart ached as I watched their spirits crumble under each ruthless goal. I called for a timeout and gathered my young players. “Listen,” I said, my voice firm but gentle, “we’re not here to win against them. We’re here to prove something to ourselves. Let’s change our strategy—forget defending the goal. Instead, focus on intercepting just one pass. Celebrate every small effort. This is your game, too.” I saw their eyes flicker with renewed determination. One of them, the smallest, clenched his fist and said, “We can do this, Coach!” The atmosphere shifted after the timeout (暂停). When the game resumed, our team moved with purpose. They stopped cowering and started communicating, throwing themselves bravely at every opportunity. Then it happened: a powerful shot from a U13 star was deflected not by fear, but by the courage of a U10 defender who used her stick to redirect the ball. It wasn’t a goal saved, but it was a moment of defiance. Suddenly, the crowd erupted—cheers, claps, and shouts of encouragement filled the arena. Parents stood up, teachers whistled, and even the opposing team paused, showing a hint of respect. 反差结构(Contrast Structure) 句式: [预期状况],but/yet/however [实际状况] 功能: 通过强烈对比制造张力,突出形势的荒谬性或人物的反差心理 原文例句: "It was going to be a mismatch, to say the least. But our kids? They were excited." They stopped A, started B, doing C... 功能: 通过动词的排比使用展现行为模式的根本转变 原文例句: "They stopped cowering and started communicating, throwing themselves bravely at every opportunity." It wasn't..., but it was... 功能: 通过否定表面价值肯定深层价值,实现主题升华 原文例句: "It wasn't a goal saved, but it was a moment of defiance." 4. 多感官环境描写(Multi-sensory Description) 句式: [声音],[动作],and [反应] filled the arena. 功能: 通过视听结合的动态描写营造沉浸式场景体验 原文例句: "Suddenly, the crowd erupted—cheers, claps, and shouts of encouragement filled the arena." 5. 隐喻性动词(Metaphorical Verbs) 句式: 主语 + [蕴含隐喻的动词] + 宾语 功能: 通过动词的隐喻用法赋予动作深层象征意义 原文例句: "I watched their spirits crumble under each ruthless goal." Excuse me, can you tell me how much the shirt is? First, a sincere thank you to the neighbors who have reached out over the past few months. We’ve heard from many of you—even a note tied to a rock thrown through our window! Now, a quick update: we’ve taken our new year lights down. It wasn’t easy. Our lights had been up since December, nearly six months as part of our household. We were touched by the heartfelt concerns like, “ARE YOU KEEPING THEM UP FOREVER??!!!” We hoped these lights, bought on a sale, would inspire us and find their forever home. But there were problems: the sizzle, the smell, the mosquitoes, and one green bulb (灯泡) that went on and off for no reason. We sought help, but Shiny Brite Light Installations wanted to charge us an arm and a leg. Luckily, we discovered we could simply remove it. We knew it would upset the color arrangements by having two red bulbs together, but it was the only option. Dealing with the messy wires was another tiring challenge. We asked ourselves, “What are we doing wrong?” I remembered falling into bed one night and saying to my husband, “Is it us?” His answer: “No. It’s those lights. We should take them back.” Returning them? Unthinkable. Mainly because I’d lost the receipt, or because what kind of people would return a used item? Actually, neither. The lights were up, they were part of us now, and up they would stay. Eventually, we relaxed and enjoyed the days as time passed. As temperatures rise, colorful flowers are perfect decorations now, but what about the lights still playing new year songs when sensing every Amazon delivery truck? Not so much. Contrary to your whispers, we haven’t returned the lights. They’ve been rehomed in the basement, for now. Don’t worry. We remain committed to these lights. They are part of our family, even if they’re no longer on display—at least until late November. 24. How do the writer’s neighbors find her new year lights? A. Artistic. B. Annoying. C. Traditional. D. Inspiring. 25.According to paragraph 3, which was a problem with the lights? A. A part posed a safety risk. B. Their colors were boring. C.A bulb flashed unpredictably. D. Their wires were exposed. 26. Why did the writer decide not to return the lights? A. She regarded it a tiring challenge. B. She lost the receipt for them. C. She considered it impolite. D. She grew attached to them. 27. What can be inferred from the last two paragraphs? A. This November will witness new lights delivered B. The basement will be the lights’ forever home. C. Lights are perfect symbols of season changes D. The writer still plans on putting the lights up. When it comes to navigating (导航) areas, past studies showed that the abilities don’t truly kick in until 12. However, a new study has revealed that children aged 5 can find their way around larges paces. The researchers involved with this study previously concentrated on three regions of the adult brain that help navigation: PPA, which lets us recognize places and assign them to different categories, RSC, which maps these places within a larger space and OPA, which keeps us from running into objects. In 2024, they found that the system associated with OPA doesn't fully develop until the age of 8. However, they theorized that younger children must still be able to create a map of their surroundings, even before they can walk well. The new study confirmed that RSC is already well-developed in children younger than 8. The results come from an interesting experiment involving five-year-old participants who became familiar with a virtual location called “Tiny Town” full of entertaining landmarks like ice cream stores, playgrounds and fire stations. “We want to get answers, but it’s also important that participants have a good time and a good impression of science,” said Yaelan Jung, first author of the study. Then the researchers conducted fMRI scans (磁共振扫描) on the children, during which they participated in a game-like task where they were shown images from Tiny Town and pressed a button if the images accurately related. Data from the scans proved that the children were able to create a map in their minds, using RSC in their brains to facilitate navigation in larger spaces. The next step, the researchers say, is to look into the brain development of toddlers (学步孩童) with cleverer strategies. “It’s stimulating to explore how humans use different parts of the brain for complex behaviors and how that changes with age and experiences,” Jung said in a press release. “We’re also laying the groundwork for clinical applications.” 28. According to the new study, why can five-year-olds navigate large areas? A. They can mentally map a large environment. B. Their OPA region has developed to the full. C. Their PPA region helps them avoid objects. D. They can walk well by recognizing places. 29. Why did the researchers design Tiny Town? A. To confirm the accuracy of fMRI scans. B. To improve kids’ scientific competence. C. To make the experiment engaging for kids. D. To adjust kids’ emotion before the experiment. 30. What are Yaelan Jung’s words in the last paragraph mainly about? A. Influence of research strategies. B. Possible direction for further study. C. Demand for a larger sample size. D. Solid evidence of the findings. 31. What can be a suitable title for the text? A. Brain Development: A Magic Solution B. Young Children: Natural Navigators at Age 5 C. Tiny Town: A Key to Unlocking Brain Secrets D. Three Regions: Core Parts for Mapping Places Australians are not, as they sometimes joke, the only people to eat their symbolic national animal. But the hunting of kangaroos causes debates Down Under. Many believe the kangaroos destroy grasslands and cause crashes by jumping in front of cars. Animal-rights types argue killing them is inhumane (不人道的), and that kangaroo meat is full of bacteria. But both sides are mad about a new film, which shows cruel killing and suggests that hunting is reducing the population. “We’ve learned how polarising the subject is in Australia,” Mick McIntyre, one of its makers, told a local paper. Annual surveys suggest that there are more than 47 million kangaroos bounding through the wild. Animals, like dingoes, which feed on them, are becoming rare, so when the grass they eat is sufficient, their numbers jump. State governments have long set “harvesting” quotas (定额) to keep the four most populous species in check. But some ecologists suggest that the hunting is damaging, and that the population estimates are over-0ptimistic. Those in favour of hunting point out that Australia earns $175m from it annually. And some scientists argue that kangaroos are a more sustainable source of protein than cows or sheep. Yet the industry is under pressure abroad. Heartwarming campaigns have turned shoemakers against kangaroo leather and weakened foreign appetite for the meat. Russia, once the biggest consumer of kangaroo meat, has issued a ban out of concern for food safety. In the eight years since it first did so, the value of Australia's kangaroo-meat exports has fallen sharply. As a result, professional hunters were paid less than before. And they killed 1.4 million kangaroos in 2016, a fifth of the permitted maximum. But a higher kangaroo population simply means that more will die in the next drought, says George Wilson of the Australian National University, Worse, he says, in Queensland, landholders have been accused of poisoning kangaroo sand building fences to prevent them from reaching water. The back and forth is endless. 32. What does the underlined word “polarizing” in the first paragraph probably mean? A. Abstract. B. Divided. C. Innovative. D. Amazing. 33. According to the text, what is a reason for kangaroo population increase? A. The ban on hunting quotas. B. Their diverse species. C. Their bounding abilities. D. The decline of natural enemies. 34. What does paragraph 3 mainly talk about? A. Why kangaroo development should be sustainable. B. How kangaroo goods market expands abroad. C. Why some people support kangaroo hunting. D. How exports of kangaroo products suffer. 35. How would George Wilson describe the situation kangaroos face? A. Out of the frying pan, into the fire. B. The survival of the fittest. C. While the cat is away, the mice will play. D. Let sleeping dogs lie. It started with a whisper. “Everyone else got one,” my daughter said to me, her eyes locked on the floor. “I was the only one who didn’t.” 36 The one everyone was talking about in the lunch line and on the walk home. The one that she heard would have unlimited cupcakes. The one she didn’t get an invitation to. There’s a particular kind of heartbreak that happens when your child feels excluded You don’t just witness their disappointment; you absorb it. 37 “I’m sure it wasn’t personal,” I said softly. “Sometimes kids are only allowed to invite a few people.” But the words felt weak, like a Band-Aid on a big and deep cut. This experience could have easily been about how to handle exclusion as a parent—how to build resilience (韧性). But what I've learned is less clean than that. 38 You can’t smooth every rough edge. Sometimes, your job is just to sit beside your kid in the thick of it. To let them cry.to let yourself feel angry, and to know that fixing it isn’t always the assignment. 39 She wrote a little note for the birthday kid. “Happy birthday,” it read. “Hope you have fun.” No bitterness. Just kindness. My daughter, in all her smallness, did what I hadn’t even figured out how to do yet: move forward without letting the hurt define her. And maybe that's the only real takeaway I have. That sometimes, our kids teach us the wisdom we’re still trying to learn. She never got that invitation. But what we gained quietly was something else: the chance to walk through disappointment together, hand in hand. 40 A. After all, honesty is the best policy. B. Part of parenting is being powerless. C. At first, I tried to say something to comfort her. D. I encouraged her to show forgiveness to the kid. E. And that, to me, feels like something worth celebrating. F. The birthday party was definitely to be one to remember. G. What surprised me most was what happened the next day. Towards the end of our baseball training, Arnold found a pebble (鹅卵石) on the ground. “How far do you think this will go if I connect?” He threw the pebble in the air, and then 41 it with his baseball bat. Up, up and it 42 . With laughter, we wondered where it 43 . We soon found out. We saw an ambulance headed in the same direction as the 44 had traveled. Proceeding 45 through the woods and across 12th Street, we then hurried to the 46 with unease. A group of about five people stood over a figure face down on the sidewalk. When the rescuers 47 he victim, we were 48 to discover it was our friend Benny. People around were looking up into a big tree for the 49 as to what had hit the 50 kid, who now had a lump (肿块) on his forehead about the size of a pebble. At the time, and for years, Arold and I were 51 by guilt and anxiety to 52 the whole thing to Benny. But it wasn’t until 25 years later that we had Benny to dinner and 53 everything. He touched his forehead, but he didn’t 54 us. He thought, and still thinks. Obviously, he forgot everything! If Benny reads this account, Arnold and I would like to offer him 55 , saying something we should have said long ago: Sorry! 41.A. hit B. blocked C. caught D. moved 42. So, they 56 (direct) headed to a distillery (酿酒厂). During their tour of the Shazhou Youhuang Cultural Park in Zhangjiagang, the group learned about the techniques for making huangjiu, a type of Chinese rice wine traditionally 57 (serve) warm. “Traveling while gaining knowledge is a whole new experience for me,” said Hu, a 29-year-old from Suzhou. “All the huangjiu-related products here 58 (be) very unique to the scenic area and unavailable online, which only heightens my desire to buy them.” After first emerging as 59 concept in Europe around the mid-20th century, industrial tourism, 60 involves visiting factories and other sites of industrial heritage, began taking root in China in the late 1990s. Over the years, it has grown into a 61 (profit) section, thanks to growing investment and government support. The country now has more than l,000 industrial tourism sites nationwide, ranging from the century-old steel plants in the northeast 62 shiny, high-tech electric-vehicle plants in south. Many cities and provinces have included industrial tourism in their 63 (policy) to boost the local tourism market. For example, Shanghai’s three-year tourism development plan, which 64 (release) last February, highlights the potential for transforming abandoned factories into cultural attractions, helping local businesses through ticket sales and spin-offs (周边产品) while 65 (preserve) the city’s industrial heritage. Dear Janet, I’m glad to hear you are trying to enrich your class by integrating other subjects. Yours, Li Hua It all began with a “fun” indoor hockey tournament (曲棍球锦标赛) for U1l,U12, and U13kids. The atmosphere shifted after the timeout (暂停). 1 / 11 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 阅读A篇 1 / 1 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 阅读A篇 (校园交通服务) 词汇 (Words) · · online /ˈɒnlaɪn/ - adj在线的 · community /kəˈmjuːnəti/ - n社区 · explore /ɪkˈsplɔː(r)/ - We’ve heard from many of you—even a note tied to a rock thrown through our window! 1. According to the text, how long had the lights been up before they were taken down? A. For about six months. B. Since late November. C. Until temperatures rose. D. Until the flowers bloomed. 2. What can be inferred about the neighbors’ attitude toward the lights? A. They were indifferent. B. They were curious and concerned. C. They helped take down the lights. D. They offered to pay for the removal. 3. Which of the following best describes the author’s family? A. Practical and efficient. B. Sensitive and easily discouraged. C. Careless and irresponsible. D. Humorous and persistent. 4. What is the main purpose of the text? A. To complain about the high cost of maintaining holiday lights. B. To explain why the family decided to return the lights. C. To share a humorous story about keeping holiday lights up too long. D. To encourage neighbors to be more tolerant of each other’s decorations. When it comes to navigating areas, past studies showed that the abilities don’t truly kick in until 12. “We’re also laying the groundwork for clinical applications.” 1. What was the primary purpose of the "game-like task" during the fMRI scans? A. To observe whether children could recognize and relate to the virtual environment. B. To test children's reaction speed to virtual images. C. To compare navigation abilities between children and adults. D. To measure emotional responses to familiar landmarks. 2. What can be inferred about the researchers' approach in studying toddlers in the future? A. They will focus solely on the RSC region. B. They plan to use more innovative methods to explore younger children's brain development. C. They intend to abandon virtual environments for real-world settings. D. They believe clinical applications are currently impossible. 3. Which of the following best describes the organizational structure of the passage? A. Presenting a problem, analyzing causes, and proposing solutions. B. Focusing only on the technical aspects of fMRI scanning. C. Comparing children's and adults' brain functions in detail. D. Introducing a traditional view, presenting new findings, and outlining future research. 4. What is the main idea of the passage? A. Children under 5 cannot navigate large spaces due to underdeveloped brain regions. B. Tiny Town is a crucial virtual tool for studying brain development in adults. C. A new study shows that children as young as 5 use the RSC brain region to mentally map large spaces. D. The PPA region is the most important brain area for navigation in young children. Australians are not, as they sometimes joke, the only people to eat their symbolic national animal. 1. What does the underlined word "harvesting" in the second paragraph most likely mean in context? A. Culling and utilizing B. Protecting and breeding C. Studying and monitoring D. Relocating and releasing 2. Which factor has most directly contributed to the growth of kangaroo populations according to the text? A. The implementation of strict hunting bans B. The reduction of their natural predators C. The expansion of grassland areas D. The improvement of road safety measures 3. What is the author's primary purpose in presenting the information in paragraph 3? A. To demonstrate the economic benefits of kangaroo hunting B. To highlight the declining international market for kangaroo products C. To argue for the sustainability of kangaroo as a food source D. To show the conflicting economic pressures on the industry 4. Which statement best summarizes George Wilson's perspective on the kangaroo situation? A. Natural population controls are preferable to human intervention B. Current management approaches may lead to worse outcomes C. Commercial hunting should be expanded to control numbers D. Drought represents the most serious threat to kangaroo survival I still remember the day my son came home from school, his backpack dragging on the floor. "They're all going," he mumbled without looking up. "The entire class got invited except me." 1 The soccer match everyone was discussing during breaks. The event that promised unlimited snacks and professional players' appearances. The one he hadn't been included in. There's a unique pain that strikes when your child experiences exclusion. You don't merely observe their sadness; you embody it. 2 "Maybe they had limited tickets," I suggested gently. "These things often have capacity restrictions." But my consolation felt inadequate, like placing a small bandage on a major wound. This moment could have been about teaching resilience—about bouncing back stronger. Yet what I discovered was messier than that. 3 You cannot solve every problem. Sometimes, your role is simply to be present with your child in their pain. To allow them to express their emotions, to acknowledge your own frustration, and to understand that immediate solutions aren't always required. 4 He took out his favorite soccer card. "For your game," he wrote. "Hope you score lots of goals." No resentment. Just genuine generosity. My son, in his youthful wisdom, demonstrated what I was still struggling to learn: how to advance without being anchored by disappointment. Perhaps this is the most valuable lesson. That sometimes, our children become our teachers in the very wisdom we're attempting to master. The invitation never arrived. But what we gradually discovered was something different: the opportunity to navigate disappointment together, supporting each other. 5 A. Surprisingly, he suggested we watch his favorite movie instead. B. The next morning, however, brought an unexpected development. C. Initially, I attempted to rationalize the situation to ease his pain. D. I advised him to focus on his own strengths and friendships. E. And this, I believe, represents something truly meaningful. F. The tournament was apparently the season's biggest event. G. Being a parent means accepting you can't control everything. During our final baseball practice, Leo picked up a smooth stone from the field. "Watch how far this goes with a perfect hit!" He tossed the stone into the air and swung his bat, making solid contact. The stone soared high and disappeared from view. Chuckling, we speculated about where it might have landed. 1 . 2 We noticed emergency vehicles heading precisely where the stone had vanished. Moving cautiously through the thick trees and crossing Oak Avenue, we approached the gathering crowd with growing dread. 3 Paramedics were carefully lifting the injured person onto a stretcher. To our horror, we recognized our teammate Thomas lying unconscious with a distinct pebble-sized swelling on his forehead. 4 For decades, Leo and I carried this secret burden, tormented by guilt yet unable to confess our accidental role in Thomas's injury. It took us twenty-five years to finally invite Thomas to dinner and share the complete story. 5 He gently touched his forehead but showed no recognition of our story. Amazingly, he had no memory of the incident at all! If Thomas ever reads this story, we want to offer our deepest apologies for what happened that day. A. The truth revealed itself sooner than expected. B. Our laughter died when we heard sirens approaching. C. He listened patiently as we recounted every detail. D. What happened next changed our lives forever. E. The memory of that day haunted us for years. F. We never imagined our game would have consequences. G. At the scene, a small crowd surrounded the fallen figure. 根据原文中“Penn Accessible Transit”部分明确提到:“students must email the Office of Student Disabilities Services” 以及 “For teachers or staff, they can obtain approval by contacting the Office of Affirmative Action”,即学生必须通过邮件联系学生残疾服务办公室(Office of Student Disabilities Services)来获得使用许可。因此正确答案为C(联系特定办公室获得批准)。 原文在“Indego”部分指出:“through downloading the Indego app, students can... earn discounts for renting bikes”,即通过下载Indego应用程序,学生可以赚取租车折扣。因此正确答案为B(通过使用Indego应用程序获得折扣)。 因此正确答案为C(告知学生可用的交通选项)。 1. A 2. B 3. D 4. C 1.A(细节理解题)解析:本题为细节理解题。 Our lights had been up since December, nearly six months..." 2. B(推理判断题)解析:本题为推理判断题。 选项A(冷漠)与主动联系的行为矛盾;选项C(帮忙拆除)和D(付费拆除)均未在文中体现。 3. D(人物性格题)解析:本题为人物性格题。 选项A(务实高效)与纠结过程不符;选项C(粗心不负责任)和B(敏感易气馁)与主动应对和最终乐观保留的态度相悖。 4. C(主旨大意题)解析:本题为主旨大意题。 1. A 2. B 3. D 4. C 1. We want to get answers, but it's also important that participants have a good time...'" The next step...is to look into the brain development of toddlers with cleverer strategies"以及Jung所言"explore how humans use different parts of the brain...and how that changes with age",可推断后续研究将采用新策略探索更年幼群体的大脑发育模式。选项A(研究策略的影响)未准确捕捉到"未来方向"的核心;选项C(要求更大样本)和选项D(证据坚实性)均与末段聚焦未来研究的内容不符。 3. 选项A(问题-原因-解决方案)与本文的实证研究性质不符;选项C(成人与儿童对比)仅局部涉及;选项B(纯技术聚焦)未能涵盖研究背景与展望等完整结构。 4. 选项A(5岁以下不能导航)与研究发现相反;选项B(Tiny Town的重要性)虽提及但属于论证细节,并非全文核心;选项D(PPA区域最重要)与文中强调RSC关键作用的结论不符。 1. A 2. B 3. D 4. B 1. 选项B(保护繁殖)、C(研究监测)和D(迁移放生)均与上下文所述的数量控制目的及争议不符。 2. Animals, like dingoes, which feed on them, are becoming rare, so when the grass they eat is sufficient, their numbers jump"可知,以袋鼠为食的动物(如野狗)减少,加上草料充足,直接导致袋鼠数量增长。选项A(狩猎禁令)与文中长期存在配额管理的事实矛盾;选项C(草地扩张)和D(道路安全改进)文中未提及。 3. Yet the industry is under pressure abroad"引出相反事实:国际抵制导致出口价值大幅下降。这种对比结构主要旨在展示该行业面临的国内外经济压力冲突,而非单方面论证 benefits(选项A)、market decline(选项B)或sustainability(选项C)。 4. 选项A(自然控制更好)未准确反映其担忧;选项C(扩大商业狩猎)和D(干旱最主要威胁)均片面解读其观点。 The soccer match..."、"The event..."、"The one..." But my consolation felt inadequate"形成明显转折关系,进一步验证C选项的正确性。 上文提到"what I discovered was messier than that",暗示将要阐述一个更复杂的现实,G选项"为人父母意味着接受你无法控制一切"恰好引出下文的具体阐释"You cannot solve every problem"和"your role is simply to be present"。 He took out his favorite soccer card"描述具体行为,B选项"然而第二天早上带来了意想不到的进展"完美衔接这两部分,其中"unexpected development"准确呼应了儿子出乎意料的慷慨行为。 D 2. A 3. G 4.E 5. C 36. 37. A 段中题。
