Sunbathing on the beach, enjoying ice creams, building sandcastles, taking donkey rides…just travel to British seaside towns and you can do all these things. However, is the seaside holiday always the first choice for the family?
In the late 1970s, air travel became affordable for most families in the UK, and more and more British started travelling abroad for their summer holidays. After all, the British weather wasn’t very good, even in summer. Particularly popular with families on a budget (预算) is the package holiday, where the cost of flights and hotels are offered at a lower price.
In the 1980s and 1990s, young people in the UK became wealthier, or at least had more spare money. Young people started to go abroad in groups, to places such as Spain and Greece. Once at their destination (目的地), they socialized with other groups of young people and had a long party.
British holidaying habits have begun to change. However, climate change means that the UK now has a warmer climate than before, so people don’t need to go overseas. Also, the world seems a less certain place as the economies rise and fall, which means that the cost of foreign holidays is less certain than it used to be.
There is now an increased appreciation among the British for the diversity (多样性) of the UK. It is the diversity of the cultures in the UK that is beginning to be of interest to domestic tourists. People forget sometimes that there are different accents, traditions, food and peoples across all of the UK. Each town has its own regions, and each of those regions is very different from all the others.
The UK has always been famous for its international explorers, but now it is starting to discover itself.
4.People in the UK began to travel abroad in the late 1970s because ________.
A.travelling by air appeared at that times
B.British people could pay for the journey
C.there were more beautiful beaches abroad
D.the weather overseas was the same as that in Britain
5.The “domestic tourists” in this passage like ________ now.
A.travelling abroad B.travelling in Britain C.group travel D.package holiday
6.Which of the following best shows the structure of this passage?
A. B. C. D.
7.Why does the writer write this passage?
A.To show the diversity of the cultures in the UK.
B.To introduce the most traditional British seaside holliday.
C.To show the British have the strong spirit of explration.
D.To explain how the British holidaying habits have changed.

My dear boys and girls, good morning. Today I'm going to talk to you, about my understanding of learning history.
Many of you may think it is a terrible thing to study history. You may often wonder why we students should study something that has nothing to do with our own lives. If you think that way, I should say you are far from the truth.
In fact, if we study history, we can learn quite a lot about personal stories and events (事件)of people just like us. The people who came before us helped build and develop the country we are living in. Their ideas often solved many of our problems and troubles. Studying the past helps us to understand what our ancestors'(祖先)lives were like. And it also helps us to see how their experiences have shaped our own life.
To be honest, ▲ . Some of what we study in history helps us understand the mistakes of the past. And these mistakes will help people not to do the same wrong things. People often learn from the past to have a better future.
Whether we like the subject of history or not, we must understand the importance of the events and the people who came before us. Our ancestors' decisions have influenced our own life. Similarly, the decisions of our own generation(一代人)will finally influence those who come after us. In this only way, the world is truly connected.
History is not just a study of the past. History is the study of people, places, and events that can influence the future.
Now do you still think studying history is a sad thing? Or do you have any doubt about learning history? If you have any question, just feel free to ask.
8.What kind of writing is the passage above?
A.A diary. B.A story. C.A speech. D.A letter.
9.Which of the following can be put in the ▲ in Paragraph 4?
A.the mistakes of the past won't help us.
B.I don't like the idea of learning history
C.it is not easy to learn the subject of history
D.not everything that happened in the past is good
10.According to Paragraph 5, the decisions of our generation will ______________.
A.show what is happening to us B.build and develop our country
C.influence the people in the future D.help understand the people in the past
11.The writer wrote the passage to ___________________.
A.introduce some important people in history
B.develop students' interest in learning history
C.explain different people's understanding of history
D.show the relationship between the past and the future

①There is really no reason for my writing the life of Su Tungpo except that I want to do it. For years, the writing of his biography (传记) has been at the back of my mind, but the regret never quiets down. Now that I am able to apply myself to this task, I am happy, without any reason.
②A vivid personality isn’t that easy to be understood. One might say that Su Tungpo was an unchangeable optimist (乐观主义者), a friend of the people, a prose master, an original painter, a great calligrapher, an experimenter in wine making, an engineer, a secretary to the emperor, a dissenter in politics, and a poet. And yet that might miss the sum total of why people like Su Tungpo. Su Tungpo’s complex personality gives a reason. Always deeply stuck in politics, he was always greater than politics. Without tricks and without purpose, he went along singing, composing, and criticizing, to express something he felt in his heart, paying no attention to what might be the results of himself. He wrote just because he enjoyed writing, and today we enjoy his writing just because he wrote so beautifully, generously, and out of the clearness of his heart.
③As I try to find the reasons why, for a thousand years in China, each generation has a crowd of crazy admirers of this poet, I come to the second reason, which is the same as the first, stated in a different way. Su Tungpo had charm. The chief charm of Su Tungpo was a force of character (that could not be stopped by anyone), a force (that started at the moment of his birth, had to run its course until death closed his mouth and stopped his laughing chatter). He wielded his pen almost as if it were a toy. He could be curious, or humorous or serious, very serious, and from his pen we hear various human emotions of joy, happiness, worry and love.
④On the whole, we get the impression that he played and sang through life and enjoyed it greatly, and when sadness came and unluckiness fell, he accepted them with a smile. That is the kind of charm which I am trying to describe in my way and which has made him the favorite poet of so many Chinese experts.
12.What do the underlined words “this task” in Paragraph 1 refer to?
A.read the life of Su Tungpo B.read Su Tungpo’s poems
C.write the life of Su Tungpo D.write down Su Tungpo’s poems
13.What can we learn from the passage?
A.Su Tungpo’s works were all full of joy and love. B.Su Tungpo had a crowd of fans at home and abroad.
C.Su Tungpo was good at many things except making wine. D.Su Tungpo always expressed himself without caring about the results.
14.Which words can best describe Su Tungpo according to the passage?
A.Beautiful and clear. B.Sad and changeable. C.Serious and unlucky. D.Optimistic and charming.
15.What’s the structure of the passage? (P①=paragraph①)
A. B. C. D.
