Unit 1 Friendship

Li Na:  Hello. I’m a reporter from the school newspaper. My name is Li Na. I’m                                                         doing a survey on friendship. Would you mind answering some questions?

Students:  No, not at all.

Li Na:  May I have your name, please?

Wu Di:  You can just call me Wu Di.

Li Na:  Great! Wu Di, here’s my question: What makes a good friend? Or in other                                                         words, what kind of friends would you like to have?

Wu Di: I’d like to have honest friends.They never lie, and I can trust them. When                                                         I’m with them, I can tell them how I feel.

Li Na:  So you mean, a good friend is honest. How about you? What’s your name?

Su Mei:  My name is Su Mei. I think good friends are caring. When I feel sad or                                                         blue, they cheer me up. Good friends are always there for me.

Li Na:  I see. A good friend is honest and caring. How wonderful! Thanks for                                                          sharing.

Students: You’re welcome.

 

李娜：你好，我是校报记者李娜。我正在做一个关于友谊的问卷调查，你介意              回答几个问题吗？
学生们：不介意。
李娜：请问你叫什么名字？
吴迪：叫我吴迪就好。
李娜：太好了！吴迪，我的问题是：你认为好朋友应该具备什么品质？或者说，              你希望拥有什么样的朋友？
吴迪：我希望朋友是诚实的。他们从不说谎，我可以信任他们。和他们在一起时，              我能敞开心扉倾诉感受。
李娜：所以你认为好朋友应该诚实。那你呢？你叫什么名字？
苏梅：我叫苏梅。我觉得好朋友应该懂得关心人。当我情绪低落时，他们会鼓励              我。好朋友总会陪在我身边。
李娜：明白了，好朋友要诚实又贴心。真棒！谢谢你们的分享。

Unit 2 School life

Chen Ming:  Li Hua, I guess you like Maths best. Am I right?

Li Hua:  Yes! I really like studying Maths.

Chen Ming:  Why?

Li Hua:   Because I like numbers. They are all around us and I can use what I                                                                       learn in maths class to solve problems in my everyday life. Besides, I                                                                       have to think carefully when I’m solving difficult problems. I enjoy                                                                       that. So, what’s your favourite subject?

Chen Ming:  Labour. Do you remember last week’s lesson? We learnt about                                                                        different kinds of tea, how tea plants grow and how tea is made. That                                                                       was cool! In labour class, I develop good working habits and learn                                                                                     basic life skills, such as how to do housework. In tomorrow’s lesson                                                                       we’1l learn to make new things from old or broken things. I can’t wait!

Li Hua:   Me too!

 

陈明：李华，我猜你最喜欢数学课，对吗？
李华：没错！我特别喜欢学数学。
陈明：为什么呢？
李华：因为我喜欢数字。它们无处不在，而且我能用数学课上学到的知识解决日              常问题。另外，解难题时需要仔细思考，我很享受这个过程。对了，你最              喜欢什么课？
陈明：劳动课！还记得上周的课吗？我们学了茶叶种类、茶树栽培和茶叶制作，              超有意思！在劳动课上不仅能培养良好的劳动习惯，还能学家务技巧。明              天的课要学变废为宝，我都等不及了！

Unit 3 The seasons

My hometown is Auckland. It is on New Zealand’s north island. The weather here is really nice. It is not too hot and not too cold.

In Auckland, summer is from December to February. We get a lot of tourists here in Auckland during those months. It’s the most popular time to visit because it’s usually warm during the daytime and cool at night. In summer, we often spend the day at the beach. I love my summer holidays.

Autumn is from March to May. It’s usually sunny and dry. So autumn is my favourite season. All the trees have orange and brown leaves. They are so beautiful.

Winter in Auckland is from June to August, but it’s not very cold. If you like winter sports, you can go skiing in the mountains near Auckland.

Spring here is from September to November. The weather starts getting warmer but it can be very rainy. Spring is the best time for outdoor activities here in Auckland. The landscape is very beautiful at that time. So it’s really fun to go hiking. I often go out on weekend hikes with my family in spring.

Auckland is a great place all year round. If you get the chance, you should visit.

 

我的家乡是奥克兰，它位于新西兰北岛。这里的天气非常宜人，既不会太热也不会太冷。

在奥克兰，夏季从十二月持续到二月。这段时间会有很多游客到访，因为白天温暖、夜晚凉爽，是最适合旅游的季节。夏天我们经常去海滩玩耍，我特别享受暑假时光。

三月到五月是秋季，通常晴朗干燥，这是我最喜欢的季节。树木都披上橙黄和棕红的叶子，景色美不胜收。

奥克兰的冬季从六月到八月，但并不算特别寒冷。如果你喜欢冬季运动，可以去奥克兰附近的山上滑雪。

九月到十一月是春季，天气逐渐转暖，但雨水较多。这是奥克兰最适合户外活动的时节，大地回春的景色格外美丽，徒步旅行特别有趣。春天我经常和家人周末去郊外远足。
