Are you the eldest, the middle,or the youngest child in your family? This may influence(影响) your choice when you choose your job. A group of British scientists studied 500 people from 11 different kinds of jobs.
They found that elder children are more likely to become astronauts and scientists. NASA astronaut Neil Armstrong is the eldest child in his family. That’s probably because parents usually treat elder children more strictly than younger children. This helps them form a more disciplined personality.
The scientists also found that middle children are 30 percent more likely to become CEOs. The scientists said that this could be because middle children need to do more to get attention from their parents. This makes them more flexible. Bill Gates, the former CEO of Microsoft,is the middle child. Younger children,on the other hand, get attention by learning to pay attention to other people’s thoughts. This makes them sensitive(敏感的) to others’ feelings. Therefore, younger children are more likely to become musicians. German musician Johann Sebastian Bach and Austrian composer(作曲家) Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart are both the youngest child in their families.
The study results also suggested that an only child is more likely to become an artist. He or she gets full attention from his or her parents and is freer to develop himself or herself. This makes him or her more creative.
26.In the research in this passage,British scientists studied________.( )
A. 500 people from 11 different kinds of jobs
B. 500 people of 11 different ages
C. 500 successful people
D. 500 kinds of jobs
27.What does the underlined word “This” refer to in Paragraph 3?( )
A. Middle children work harder to get their parents’ attention.

C. Middle children get the most in the family.
D. The only child gets full attention from their parents.
28.Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage?( )
A. Neil Armstrong is the youngest child in his family.
B. Bill Gates is the middle child in his family.
C. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart is the eldest child in his family.
D. Johann Sebastian Bach is the only child in his family.

As young students, you have many dreams. These dreams can be very big, such as winning the Nobel Prize;they can also be small, such as becoming one of the best students in your class.
Once you find a dream, what do you do with it? Do you ever try to realize your dream?
Andrew Matthews,an Australian writer, tells us that making your dreams come true is life’s biggest challenge(挑战).You may think you’re not very good at some school subjects,or that it’s impossible for you to become a writer. Those kinds of ideas stop you from realizing your dream.
In fact, everyone can realize his dream. The first thing you must do is to remember what your dream is. Don’t let it leave your heart. You need to keep telling yourself what you want every day and then your dream will come true faster. You must also stick to your dream. There will be difficulties on the road to your dreams. But the biggest difficulty comes from yourself. You need to decide what is the most important. Studying
instead of watching TV will help you to get better exam results, while saving five yuan instead of buying an ice cream means you can buy a new book.
As you get closer to your dream,it may change a little. This is good as you have the chance to learn something more useful and find new hobbies.
