教学目标 | |||||
1.1 Knowledge Objectives Students can master the key vocabulary: alive, realize, passage, pupil, completely, shocked, silence, recently, date, tower and phrases: in silence, take down, at first. Students can understand the usage of past continuous tense in narrative contexts, especially sentences like "While I was walking to school, I saw a dog." and "When the rainstorm came, she was reading a book." Students can grasp the main idea and key details of the two news passages about important historical events (the September 11 attacks and the earthquake in San Francisco). 1.2 Ability Objectives Develop students' reading comprehension abilities, including skimming to get the main idea, scanning to find specific information, and inferring the author's feelings from the text. Cultivate students' ability to connect the text content with real-life experiences and express their own memories of important events. 1.3 Emotional & Attitudinal Objectives Help students understand and remember important historical events, and cultivate their sense of history and respect for life. Encourage students to share their own unforgettable experiences, enhancing their communication awareness and cooperative spirit. Step 1: Warming-up & Lead-in (5 minutes) | Daily Greeting: The teacher greets students with simple English: "Good morning, class! How are you today? Did you have a good weekend? Is there anything unforgettable that happened to you recently?" Invite 2-3 students to share briefly. Picture Guessing Game: Show students two groups of pictures on the PPT: one group is about common daily events (e.g., a student reading, a girl singing), and the other group is about important historical events (e.g., the collapse of the World Trade Center, ruins after an earthquake). Ask students: "What can you see in the pictures? Do you know what happened here?" Lead-in to the Topic: After students' answers, the teacher summarizes: "Some events are small in our daily life, while some are big and important in history. They are all worth remembering. Today, we will read two passages about unforgettable events. Let's enter Unit 7 Section B 2a-2b: A Day to Remember." Design Intent The daily greeting and sharing link can narrow the distance between teachers and students, activate the classroom atmosphere, and lay a foundation |

| for students to share their own experiences later. The picture guessing game uses visual aids to arouse students' interest in learning. The contrast between daily events and historical events helps students understand the connotation of "a day to remember" and naturally leads to the theme of the lesson. |
Step 2: Presentation (10 minutes) | Vocabulary Preview: Show key vocabulary and phrases on the PPT with pictures and English explanations (e.g., show a picture of a living cat and explain "alive: living, not dead"; show a picture of people keeping quiet and explain "in silence: without speaking"). Play the audio of the vocabulary, and ask students to follow and read twice. Then, use the word cards to check students' reading and understanding randomly. For example, the teacher holds up the card "shocked" and asks: "What does 'shocked' mean? Can you make a simple sentence with it?" Discussion on 2a: Ask students to look at the questions in 2a: "What events do people usually remember well?" Organize students to discuss in pairs for 2 minutes. The teacher walks around to listen to their discussions and gives appropriate guidance. Invite 3-4 pairs to share their answers (e.g., "People usually remember their birthday, the first day of school, or some important national events"). Prediction: Tell students that they will read two passages about important events. Ask: "What do you think the passages will talk about? Who was involved? How did people feel?" Write down 2-3 key predictions on the blackboard. Design Intent Previewing vocabulary with pictures and explanations helps students understand and remember new words intuitively, reducing the difficulty of subsequent reading.
