eg.China used to be poor, but now she is out of poverty(摆脱贫困).

"used to " is necessary when describing the changes.

 Do you know the usage (用法 ) of "used to"?

 Part One Task One. used to的用法 

look at these two sentences,

China used to be short of goods (货物）and materials（材料）

 People used to buy things with tickets(票）.

What do you notice? Each group NO.3 

1. used to意为过去常常，用于表达过去习惯性的动作或存在的状态.强调与现在的对比,暗示现在不做了.(You are so clever, thank you.)

2.used to后跟动词原形，即 used to do  (Excellent)

3. used to只用于一般过去时时态,无人称和数的变化 （OK. very good. thank you).

1.used to的否定(NO.3)

let's look at the sentence:

Tube-shaped apartments (筒子楼) used to be built in Urban areas.怎么把它变成否定句呢?

Tube-shaped apartments(筒子楼) didn't use to be built in urban areas(城市地区).

Tube-shaped apartments(筒子楼) used not to be built

in urban areas. (1o.3) 

主语+ didn't use+to do sth. 

         used not

为什么会有两种否定句呢?(老师补充).

1.used to也可用作情态动问

2.作情态动词时的否定句

主语+used not + to do sth.
