2026中考英语基础知识梳理：过去进行时

一、概念

过去进行时表示过去某一时刻或某一段时间内正在进行的动作。

 

二、结构

1. 肯定式：主语 + was/were + 动词 - ing（现在分词）

例：A group of children were at school last fall.

I was reading a novel at that moment.

2. 否定式：主语 + was/were + not + 动词 - ing

例：I was not talking on the phone when my sister came in.

3. 一般疑问式：Was/ Were + 主语 + 动词 - ing？

例：— Were you talking with the client at 7 o'clock?

— Yes, I was./ No, I wasn't.

4. 特殊疑问式：特殊疑问词 + was/were + 主语 + 动词 - ing？

例：What were you doing at the meeting?

 

三、用法

1. 表示过去某一时刻正在进行的动作（常与 at this time yesterday, at that time, at 8:00 last night, then, yesterday morning 等时间状语连用）

例：— What were you doing at 9:00 last night?

— I was watching TV.

She was reading magazines from 7 to 10 last night.

2. 表示过去某一阶段内正在进行的动作

例：They were having dinner at 7 o'clock yesterday.

I was doing my homework this morning; she was reading.

3. 与 when, while 引导的时间状语从句连用

◦ when：从句常用一般过去时，主句用过去进行时（表示一个动作发生时，另一个动作正在进行）

例：I was reading a basketball game when my wife came to see me.

◦ while：从句常用过去进行时，主句用一般过去时（表示两个动作同时进行）

例：Tom came to pick me up while I was playing basketball.
