三、阅读理解题(每小题20分,共20小题,满分40分)

A

What comes to your mind when you hear the word "twins"? Born on the same day? Looking almost the same? Or having the same hobbies? Well, I have a twin brother who was born on a different day from me. We do not look very similar and we are always interested in different things.

Twelve years ago, my brother, Wayne, was born at eleven fifty-eight on the night of 28th May. Five minutes later, I was born - on 29th May. Since we were born, I have always been heavier and stronger than Wayne, so people usually think I am the older brother.

But Wayne is always smarter than me. For example, he is better at playing chess. He always does better in all the school subjects than I do. Besides, he loves reading and learns many things more rapidly than me. He knows a lot about animals, although he does not spend much time with our dogs and birds. He knows a lot about bicycles, but never likes to ride bikes as much as I do.

Although we are very different, I love my brother very much. I hope both of us can have a happy life in the future.

Anna and Mia have been best friends since third grade. At first glance, they seem like complete opposites. Anna is outgoing and loves talking to everyone, while Mia is shy and prefers quiet places. Anna enjoys playing basketball and runs faster than most students in her class. Mia, however, loves reading and writes better stories than Anna.

Despite their differences, they have a strong friendship. Anna helps Mia become more confident in social situations. Once, Mia was afraid to join the school play, but Anna encouraged her to try. "You’re a great storyteller," Anna said. "You’ll be amazing on stage." With Anna’s support, Mia got a small role and did well.

In return, Mia helps Anna with her studies. Anna sometimes finds math difficult, but Mia explains problems clearly. "Your way of explaining is better than the teacher’s," Anna jokes. They study together every weekend and often get good grades.

Anna and Mia also learn from each other’s hobbies. Anna taught Mia to play basketball, and Mia taught Anna to draw. "I never thought drawing could be fun," Anna said. Mia laughed and replied, "Basketball is more exciting than I imagined!"
