专题05 七选五 主题01 人与社会——旅游 Passage 1 (24-25学年高二上·山师大附中·期中) To put into words my time in Antarctica and South Georgia is nearly impossible. I had always described it as a once-in-a-lifetime experience. 1 I was not the only one who felt this way. About 50% of the passengers of our expedition had been to Antarctica at least once before. This goes to show just how magical the destination is. 2 How tiny you feel next to towering glaciers and icebergs. The blinding white blankets everything, blurring the boundary between land and ocean. The icy water moves through your body as you take the Polar Plunge. The solemn silence calms your restlessness and reminds you of heart-touching stories of survival from explorers of the past. The list goes on. Antarctica makes you feel so small and insignificant, in the best way. Everything has a purpose, and the cycle of life is evident. You get front row seats to witness the most incredible show: nature. 3 For example, when you see a brown skua (贼鸥) attacking a penguin chick, your heart aches. Then your expedition guide regretfully tells you that a chick that is small in March would have very slim chances of surviving the upcoming winter. 4 Things move fast here, every month offering something unique and special to see. In March, the weather is a bit more unpredictable, and the sea ice is beginning to form again. Our voyage was the last of the season. In two more weeks, expedition ships would not be able to break through the ice. The penguins are completing their yearly feather-changing process. They are really weak during this time, and cannot dive. 5 These animals, arguably the cutest you will ever see, survive such unfavorable environments. It’s absolutely incredible to witness the challenges, the skill, the efforts, all of it. I am forever grateful to have been a visitor. A.But that is not how it is. B.It is as much cruel as beautiful. C.I, years later, did return to this fascinating place. D.The cycle continues, and you’ re left wondering who to support. E.That all your senses will be stimulated is the best way I can describe it. F.But immediately I stepped foot on the continent, I knew I needed to return. G.The expedition team made sure we kept our distance and did not scare them. 主题02 人与自我——生活与学习 Passage 1 (24-25学年高二上·山东日照·期中) Stagnation (停滞) is the silent thief of energy. The longer we stay still — physically, mentally or emotionally — the more our life energy gets blocked. 1 The solution is not dramatic transformation, but gentle, persistent movement toward strength and joy. The body is our source of energy. 2 To change this, build 30 minutes of movement into your day—be it stretching, walking, dancing, or simply standing up more frequently. Cook your own meals when you can. Eating less processed food and more whole food will lighten your digestive load and awaken your physical clarity. A curious mind is a flowing mind. Mental stagnation happens when we stop exposing ourselves to new ideas. Read a few pages daily. Take up a new hobby, or revisit one you dropped. 3 Writing even half a page a day can clear the fog in your mind and help you process complex thoughts with greater ease. 4 When we suppress how we feel especially anger, sadness or fear, we store it in our bodies which leads to stress. Create safe outlets for emotional expression: talk with a friend, cry when you need to scream into a pillow, or simply write it down. Let your emotions pass through, not pile up. Energy expands in connection. If your circle wears you out, it’s time to make changes. Reach out to someone who inspires you, join a group with shared interests, or simply spend quality time with loved ones. 5 A.Trapped emotions are heavy. B.And don’t underestimate the power of journaling. C.Take rest seriously— meditate, nap and spend time alone. D.Deep conversations and shared experiences fuel your emotional flow. E.The energy around us influences our internal state far more than we realize. F.Long hours of sitting, poor sleep, and an inactive lifestyle slow down blood flow. G.Just like a river that stops flowing becomes cloudy, stagnation in life increases stress. Passage 2 (24-25学年高二上·山东潍坊·期中) Summer vacation has begun for many of us, and chances are your kids are spending their free time in front of a screen instead of enjoying the nice weather. We won’t repeat the warnings about children and screen time here, but we admit it: Pulling them away from video game can be tricky, as they’re so addicted. 1 Many botanical gardens and nature preserves offer programs tailored for children and families. These include yoga classes, treasure hunts, and flashlight evening walks. If no classes or activities are available, try encouraging your kids to feel the grass under their feet or notice the butterflies and insects that call the grounds their home. 2 When you get home, have them search for any similar ones in your backyard. Sidewalk chalk, such as drawing butterflies on the pavement (人行道) , is an old but reliable standby that can fire up your child’s imagination. Nevertheless, it can quickly become tiresome for your kids. 3 You could start a tic-tac-toe game using sticks and rocks or go on a hike and give each other points for each animal or tree they see. 4 However, sometimes your kid isn’t into it — or is too little to hike any real distance. In that case, let them be the leader and decide your family’s direction. 5 It gives them a sense of ownership and responsibility to the activity and engages them a lot more. A.To develop a sense of curiosity in children counts. B.A walk in the woods can be great for the whole family. C.Have some ideas ready on the fly to keep them occupied. D.However, sunshine and exercise might change their attitude. E.That’s one of the masterpieces you can transform nature into. F.You are not necessarily reaching the destination you want to reach. G.Let them appreciate the different flowers and ask about their favorites. Passage 3 (24-25学年高二上·山东青岛·期中) Collapsed on the sofa, eyes half-closed, one part of your brain screams that you should be sleeping, but the other is whispering just one more episode, one more level on that game. 1 As defined by researchers Kroese, it is the habit of needlessly and voluntarily delaying going to bed, despite foreseeably being worse off as a result. Why do we keep stuck in the cycle of bedtime procrastination (拖延)? The answer, it turns out, is a mix of digital distractions and our own psychological tendencies. 2 Besides, when we’re dealing with negative emotions, it’s appealing to drown them out with some entertainment until we’re too tired to feel anything. How can we break the bad cycle and get back our good night’s sleep? Here are some practical strategies. Establish a consistent bedtime routine. Think back to your childhood. Many of us had bedtime routines that included a set sleep time, a story, or perhaps a bedtime song. As adults, we can benefit from the same consistency. 3 Manage digital distractions. 4 They entertain, educate, and connect us, but they also distract and keep us awake. Try to make special tech-free times or zones in the bedroom. Use apps or tools that limit screen time or switch your device to nighttime mode to reduce blue light exposure. 5 When those negative emotions keep us up, we need to address them directly. Relaxation exercises, such as deep breathing, yoga, or meditation, can help calm our minds and prepare us for sleep. Above all, breaking the cycle of bedtime procrastination won’t happen overnight, but every effort you make, every new habit you form, is a step in the right direction. A.Our smart devices are double-edged swords. B.So what exactly is this bedtime procrastination? C.Identify the causes of it and start making changes. D.Master stress and anxiety management techniques. E.We can set a regular sleep schedule and try to stick to it. F.As life goes tech-driven, we spend more time on screens. G.What distracts us when we’re supposed to be concentrating? 主题03 人与自我——生活与学习 Passage 1 (24-25学年高二上·山东泰安·期中) The question “Who am I?” can bring on a series of thoughts, emotions, and feelings, but what if you don’t know how to answer? 1 Thus, feeling lost or confused about who you are is more common than you may think. But by meeting your needs, you can be self-aware and build a lasting relationship with yourself. Practice self-care to manage stress It can be hard to find time to reflect on yourself when you’re feeling stressed. Taking care of yourself physically and mentally is essential to being the best version (版本) of you. 2 This can help you feel more at peace with life and yourself. Create a good work-life balance to avoid burnout Rather than taking work with you on the way home, leave it at the office door. Your worth doesn’t have to be defined by your job, and neither does your life. Take some time each day to focus on other goals and hobbies outside of work. 3 Establish boundaries in your relationships to understand your limits Ask yourself what types of situations make you feel uncomfortable. For instance, are there certain jokes that unsettle you? Identifying painful factors can help you develop an environment you’re happy and safe in. 4 Don’t ever apologize for saying “no” to situations that may make you feel off — you know what’s best for you! Set goals to give yourself something to achieve Think about where you want to see yourself in 5 days, months, or years. What goals can you make to turn that vision into your reality? 5 They can be as simple as making the bed every morning. Write down your purposes and refer to them whenever you feel lost, remembering to take each day one step at a time. A.These objectives are not necessarily big. B.Of course, learn to set boundaries gradually. C.Additionally, be firm when setting boundaries. D.Getting to know yourself is a life-long journey. E.It helps to refresh you and avoid being tired out. F.Here are some tips for you to tackle the problem. G.Try to schedule time to do something for yourself. Passage 2 (24-25学年高二上·山东菏泽·期中) “New Year, New You”. It’s January 1 again. It’s time to make New Year’s Resolutions (决心) again. On the one hand, the New Year’s resolutions reflect our hope to make a personal transformation. On the other hand, they show our regret of the past year. 1 The truth is that many people fail to accomplish them and keep making new ones. It is not because of a lack of self-discipline. 2 In other words, we seek to “become unrecognizable”. In fact, the appeal of a “New You” doesn’t have to do with concrete changes. 3 With a new year beginning, we want to finally feel that we’re in the driver’s seat when it comes to our health, finances, personality and so on. So the very concept of “New Year, New You” collapses after careful reflection. Just like we could never drag ourselves out of the mud by pulling on our own hair, we could never win the struggle to become a totally different kind of person. Instead of “becoming unrecognizable”, the New Year should be a time to commit to “radical doability”. This means embracing (拥抱) the pleasure of an easily reachable goal. If you find waking up at 5 a. m. difficult, make 7 a. m. your initial goal and make progress every day. 4 If 2025 is your year for getting fit, it probably isn’t also the time to start tidying your home or learning a new language. So let 2025 be the year when we finally stop trying to become someone else. 5 Let’s start doing things in baby steps: one message to a friend or one workout. Not many, but at least one. Not later, but right now. A.Rather, we fail to live up to our expectations. B.Accept who we really are and start from there. C.But it’s the very attempt to make complete changes. D.This also means consciously setting up a major goal. E.Why are we going through such.contradictory feelings? F.It also means focusing on a limited number of goals at a time. G.On the contrary, it’s about obtaining a sense of controlling our life. Passage 3 (24-25学年高二上·山东东营·期中) Wisdom is not just a good quality. 1 When things get really wild out there, you can always rely on your wisdom to make the best choices. Here are some strategies that you can use to get wiser. Try experiencing new opportunities. Experiencing new opportunities is how you gain wisdom. You will never grow from being in your comfort zone, which is why you need to get out of it. You can try learning new skills that you never thought of learning or going to places that were on your bucket list. 2 Learn and grow from your mistakes. All of us make mistakes in life, but it is the acknowledgment of mistakes that makes us grow and do better next time. Whenever we make a mistake, we should learn from it. 3 Stop blaming other people for your mistakes and admit where you went wrong. Never back away from learning. You must be the kind of person who learns something new every day, and you must develop a thirst for knowledge. Take classes, read books, listen to educational podcasts, and the list goes on and on. 4 In the end, you will be able to tackle a problem from different perspectives, making everything easier. Call upon the wisdom of others. You obviously want to grow and do better in life, right? The best way to do that is to have wise people as your coaches. 5 Find out what makes them wiser than you, then engage in useful dialogue with them. The more time you spend with them, the more transfer of knowledge there will be. A.All of these activities will strengthen your critical-thinking skills. B.Change your routine and see where life takes you, then take control! C.We can reflect on what made us fail so that we may improve ourselves. D.It is a wonderful build-up of experience, knowledge, and good judgement. E.They can be teachers, family members, colleagues, and even special friends. F.We should develop our curiosity, and observe the world from different angles. G.Communicate with others, and help them out, which will increase your wisdom. 主题03 人与社会——社会与文化 Passage 1 (24-25学年高二上·济南一中·期中) Why People May Stare at You You may have experienced the situation where someone staring at you, such as when you’re quietly seated on a bus, only to find that the person across from you is looking at your feet. Did you put on two different shoes? No, you check your shoes — both are the same. 1 A new study by Hannah Scott and colleagues from the University of London suggested that people stare because faces, especially the eyes, provide many useful non-verbal clues about a person’s mental state. 2 Observing what others look at offers a glimpse into their thoughts. 3 The study also found that people may focus on others’ lips during talks. If you feel someone’s gaze on your mouth while speaking, it’s likely not an indication of romantic interest, but rather that they might not hear you well. Similarly, people may look at your hands when you gesture. As they may be trying to understand your actions when you are talking or performing a task. The study showed that people tend to direct their gaze at the part of the body that provides the most information. 4 They get the audience to focus on their faces while performing hand tricks. This technique helps switch attention from their hands during card tricks or coin magic. Scott’s study concluded that people are not naturally biased to focus on someone’s face. Instead, they are drawn to the body parts that provide the most relevant information. 5 But when someone is performing a manual task, it’s the hands that draw the gaze. This also explains why magicians often talk to engage their audience’s attention on their faces while performing tricks with their hands. A.So, what causes such stares? B.But it’s not just eyes that draw stares. C.The eyes, contain socially relevant information. D.This explains how magicians apply misdirection. E.If someone is speaking, the eyes attract attention. F.Sometimes, such intense stares can make us feel uneasy. G.The way people talk can also attract stares during conversations. Passage 2 (24-25学年高二上·山东淄博·期中) If you have ever kept a secret from a friend, a family member, or a romantic partner, chances are that these same people have kept secrets from you. Not all of them, and not at every moment, but some of them some of the time. Usually, you rarely get asked about your secrets. When secrets are easy to hide, this doesn’t make them easy to live with. Normally, you share with others what you’re really thinking. But when you have fears and worries, you need to know that people react more positively to disclosures (透露的秘闻) than you often imagine. 1 But when you take the risk to do so, your friend will recognize your sincerity. If you are in a social interaction that makes you feel comfortable and open, you need to recognize the door is open to disclosure, too. 2 Just like the leaves that nobody hears falling, a disclosure with no listener is barely a disclosure at all. When you reveal secrets to others, you are often looking for help, and seeking out the people who prove most helpful. Speaking about a negative experience can have the side-effect of bringing back the negative emotions you associate it with. 3 Another person can offer you two different kinds of help: emotional support and practical support. If you can find someone you feel comfortable opening up to, they are likely to give you one if not both kinds. 4 The harm of negative thinking is easier to break when we bring others in. If you are currently keeping a secret from a friend, a family member, or a partner, then you probably have at least one more secret than you need to keep. 5 This is all the more reason to share what’s on your mind. When you open up to others and they will open up to you. A.You are content with the secrets that you keep. B.You could shout your secret in an empty forest. C.This means it is time to talk to someone. D.It might take courage to reveal something sensitive. E.That’s why shouting your secret out is often not enough. F.Having extra secrets is burdensome. G.This increases the risk of spreading secrets. Passage 3 (24-25学年高二上·山东曲阜·期中) If you’re going abroad for college, you might be thinking about how to get yourself a safe and cozy home for the years ahead. Of course, dormitories are always a good place to start, but some large state colleges require juniors to live off campus due to the limited number of dorm rooms. There are plenty of pros to on-campus living. 1 .How to find a house. 2 . Another good idea is to talk to seniors who are currently living off campus. These seniors’ landlords will most likely be looking for new tenants (房客) after graduation. Also, registered realtors (房地产经纪人) might be able to find you a place for a fee. In addition, Facebook groups can also provide some useful information. 3 .Roommates Having roommates can not only save us some money, but also give us valuable companionship. However, remember that finding the right roommates for you is the most important thing, other than safety concerns. 4 , definitely do not lie about your preferences, schedule, or habits, even if talking about them could make you uncomfortable. On the other side, also remember to ask your potential roommates to tell you about themselves in detail. 5 , please do everybody a favor by being upfront about it. Constantly running into conflicts with your quiet roommate is definitely the last thing you want. A.If you like to party a lot. B.Get along with roommates. C.While looking for roommates. D.When having a chat with your roommate. E.First, you can ask your friends who are already living off campus. F.Nevertheless, renting an apartment can give you hands-on experience with living. G.However, be really careful if you get in touch with strangers through the Internet. 主题04 人与自然——环境保护 Passage 1 (24-25学年高二上·山东聊城·期中) Finding a bird scared after striking a window can be a surprising and heartbreaking experience. 1 Observe the bird The advice is that any bird that has collided with a window should be seen by a rehabber (康复师). Most window-collision birds will have some degree of eye injury. 2 Even if they can fly away and do not look injured, some 70% of birds that have collided with glass will not recover themselves if they are not treated. Get a bird to a rehabber Approach the bird slowly from behind and gently capture it in your hands, with a bag prepared nearby. Some birds will be so surprised that they won’t even notice; others will shock and scream and may try to escape. However, this is a fear response. 3 For smaller birds, the best “ambulance” is a paper bag, like a lunch bag or a small paper shopping bag. Birds may still flap around inside, and the paper is soft enough that they won’t further injure themselves like they might if they are in a hard cardboard box or animal carrier. You can poke a few holes in the bag, though it is not necessary if the bird is not going to be inside for more than a few hours. 4 Absolutely do not give the bird water or food. If you can’t get to a rehabber If you absolutely cannot take the bird to a wildlife rehabber, keep the bird safe from predators and see if it will try to fly away in a bit. After the shock of the collision, a dark, quiet place can be helpful. So consider putting the bird in a bag or box and letting it restore for a while. After 30 minutes or so, take the bag or box as far away as possible from your home and other structures. 5 If it doesn’t, close the box back up and open  it every 15 minutes until the bird is strong enough to achieve takeoff. A.Many birds will also have brain injuries. B.A box may be suitable for larger birds. C.A big box is the best choice for them. D.Open the box to allow the bird to fly out. E.It is an indication that they are hungry. F.It is not a sign that they are not injured. G.However, a little love and protection could help. Passage 2 (24-25学年高二上·德州一中·期中) Have you ever thought about pouring used cooking oil down the sink? Just turn on the tap and flush (冲走) it all away. 1 Not only does this bad habit cause problems in your house, backyard, or neighborhood, but pouring such substances down the sink also creates widespread problems for the entire wastewater system and the workers responsible for its maintenance. The smooth day-to-day operation of our wastewater collection and treatment relies on the cooperation of people to “do the right thing”. Many water management authorities across Australia are in broad agreement: Please don’t pour oils down the sink. They all offer advice on far better alternatives. But the water industry has no control over what we do in the privacy of our homes. 2 When still hot, oils are often liquid and can be easily poured away. But down in the sewer (下水道) pipes, they rapidly cool and solidify. 3 According to Western Australia’s Water Corporation, it is estimated that 30% of sewer blockages are due to oils. 4 Think about hair and so-called “flushable wipes”. They can build up over time, creating “fatbergs”: horrible masses of wipes, hair, hardened oils and other waste. Oils act as the glue that helps fatbergs build up at choke points in sewer systems. There are more responsible ways of handling oils than just flushing them away. 5 Small amounts of cooking oil can safely be composted Even just pouring oils into the rubbish is better. But remember, you may need to cool hot oils down before putting them into the bin. A.It is really up to us. B.Please don’t do that. C.Blocked sewers are bad for us. D.Some engines can run on cooking oil. E.This is a serious and common problem. F.Cooking oil can actually be recycled and used to make biofuels. G.Oils also cause trouble by combining with other flushed-away materials. 主题01 人与自我——生活与学习 Passage 1 (24-25学年高二上·山东菏泽·期中) When you are hungry, how will you respond? Have your favorite meal and stay quiet after that? 1 But it never lets you know, because you keep it busy thinking about your friends or favorite stars. So it silently serves your needs and never lets itself grow. When mind loses its freedom to grow, creativity sets a full stop. This might be the reason why we all sometimes think “What happens next?”, or “Why can’t I think?” 2 Why reading but not watching TV? It is because reading has been the most educative tool used by us right from childhood. Since it develops other aspects of our life, we have to take help from reading. When you read a book, of course you run your eyes through the lines and your mind tries to explain something to you. 3 Now this seed is unknowingly used by you to develop new ideas. If it is used many times, the same seed can give you great help to relate a lot of things, which you would have never thought of in your wildest dreams! This is nothing but creativity. 4 Within no time you can start talking with your friends in English or any other language and never run out of the right words. So, friends, do give food to your thoughts by reading, reading and more reading. 5 Go and get a book! A.The interesting part of the book is stored in your mind as a seed. B.Why not do some reading while you are hungry? C.Just like your stomach, your mind is also hungry. D.Now what are you waiting for? E.Hunger of the mind can be actually solved through wide reading. F.Reading can help you make more friends, too. G.Also this makes a significant contribution to your vocabulary. Passage 2 (24-25学年高二上·山东济宁·期中) A 30-year observational study at the University of South Carolina found that swimmers had about half the risk of death from any cause compared to participants who were runners or walkers. Notably, the advantage applies broadly, as you don’t have to do butterfly or freestyle to get the benefit. 1 Here are the many advantages of water fitness. Water’s buoyancy (浮力) minimizes the effects of gravity, meaning it’s gentle on joints. This makes exercising in water an excellent choice for people with the pain on joints. 2 Moreover, exercising in water can minimize the stress on ankles, potentially lowering the injury rate. 3 One Australian study compared water sports with several other kinds of exercise, including jogging and cycling, and found that only water sports helped people prevent falls. While you don’t feel as hot and sweaty in the water as you do when you work out on land, works in water still raise your metabolic (新陈代谢) rate, burn calories and help with weight loss. Besides, activities in water engage most of the body’s major muscle groups, including those in the legs, upper body and core. 4 Bathing yourself in water just feels good, sometimes bringing up happy summer memories from childhood. Like all aerobic exercises, swimming, pool walking and other kinds of water aerobics release the feel-good hormones (荷尔蒙) called endorphins in your brain. 5 In conclusion, working out in water, all or partially, has multiple benefits for the mind and the body and can be done by almost anyone of any age at any fitness level! A.Water-based activities helps improve balance. B.It is also an ideal option for those wanting to prevent it. C.They perfectly combine stretching and strength training. D.Swimming has the same effects as other forms of exercises. E.The extra boost of these chemicals helps fight anxiety, depression and stress. F.Pool walking and water workouts with weights are also great ways to get in shape. G.Water-related exercises get your heart pumping without much stress on the body. Passage 3 (24-25学年高二上·山东青岛·期中) We all do it. We look at our mountain of work to be done and the feeling of fear settles in. Suddenly, everything else you could be doing begins to look so much more appealing. What’s the deal? 1 But when facing a task that is challenging, we question our abilities and even ourselves. That’s where procrastination (拖延症) begins. 2 . While these are good tools, they don’t show the whole picture of how to think about this all-too-common and frustrating phenomenon. We need to deal with the feelings hidden under the surface that both lead to procrastination and originate from it. If we look at a task, say doing the dishes, we do an internal assessment and conclude that task won’t make us feel good. So what do we do? Anything other than that task. So what’s the solution here? Waiting until the problem is so bad that we have no choice? 3 What if instead, we begin to welcome the idea that unfulfilling tasks are also acceptable? In a world where instant pleasure and self-fulfillment are pushed on us, we forget that a large part of being human is just boring. And that is OK. Compassion (同理心) can and should be invited in as well. When we begin to procrastinate, we know it and that can be it. 4 In fact, your worth as a human being does not disappear if dishes are left in the sink. Procrastination can and will continue to happen because we live in a busy world where tasks will roll your way and you will need to deal with them as they come. When the lists and techniques for better organization fail, don’t be surprised. 5 A.Not exactly. B.The problem’s urgency counts. C.Simply put, we want to feel good. D.Make a plan and stick to it to avoid procrastination. E.We need not link this kind of act with self-judgment. F.Just return to the root of the emotions and be kind to yourself. G.Common reactions to it focus on making lists, setting times, etc. Passage 4 (24-25学年高二上·山东济南·期中) There exists a body of scientific knowledge related to creativity, which is a good thing for me, because I never considered myself a very creative person. As small business owners and leaders, our jobs require us to think creatively. 1 For example, write involvement-promoting content on social media, and create unique blog posts, articles, and podcast shows. Our brain is amazing. 2 This results from our deep-rooted habits. We are so used to routine that we shy away from the unknown. However, by consciously challenging these limitations, like trying new hobbies or learning different skills, we can gradually break down the barriers. 3 As for creativity, there’s difference between a fixed mindset and a growth one. If I have a fixed mindset about creativity, I’m more likely to have beliefs and thoughts like: 4 . But if I have a growth mindset about creativity, I’m more likely to have beliefs and thoughts like: I’m not very creative right now, but I can improve. How we think about our creativity will determine whether we prioritize time for creativity in our business. 5 You can learn to activate it on demand. Activate a certain area of your brain, which is involved in different, out-of-the-box thinking with activities like doing visual puzzles and word puzzles. And regularly activate your rich expressive language networks with tasks like regular reading and volunteering. A.There’s a science to creativity. B.Creativity is something I’m born with. C.But we may block its access to creativity. D.This offers an advantage for creative thinking. E.We have to find solutions to attract and keep clients. F.A key to creativity is picking up on what others ignore. G.And then we relight the flame (火焰) of creativity within. Passage 5 (24-25学年高二上·山东烟台·期中) As a high school student, it’s never too early to start thinking about your future career. 1 Here are some steps to help you make an informed decision about your future and initiate a rewarding career path. 2 What are your interests? Do you enjoy science, art, writing, or mathematics? Your hobbies and after-class activities can give you indications. Take time to reflect on them and think of ways they might translate into a career. Also, consider your strengths and weaknesses. Identifying these can narrow down career options. Once you have an idea of your interests and skills, research different careers. 3 Look into the job responsibilities, required education, and possible salary of various occupations. For instance, if you’re interested in medicine, find out about the different medical specialties, the length of study, and the day-to-day work of doctors, nurses, or medical technicians. The next step is to gain practical experience. Seek part-time jobs, or volunteer opportunities related to your career choices. If you’re thinking about a career in journalism, you could write for your school newspaper or volunteer at a local media outlet. The hands-on experience will give you a taste of the real work environment. 4 Based on your research and experience, set short-term and long-term goals, including getting good grades in relevant subjects or getting into a particular college or university program. 5 Eventually, you will land your dream job. A.Begin by understanding yourself. B.You may first confirm your duties. C.It can shape the course of your life. D.It counts little to you right now, though. E.This allows you to decide if it’s truly for you. F.Use the internet, visit career fairs, or talk to professionals. G.Then focus on your present studies and equip yourself for the future. 主题03 人与社会——科学与技术 Passage 1 (24-25学年高二上·山师大附中·期中) Over the past few decades, advances in artificial intelligence (AI) have started to transform many parts of life, affecting everything from industry to personal communication. 1 Supporters of AI argue it can improve efficiency and creativity in many areas. For instance, businesses use AI to make operations better, leading to cost savings and better customer experiences. 2 In healthcare, AI-driven tools help doctors by offering insights from complex data, potentially resulting in earlier diagnoses and personalized treatment. 3 Studies show that automation could mostly impact jobs relying on routine tasks, putting many workers at risk of unemployment. There is also worry about whether current education systems are preparing future generations to succeed in an AI-driven world. 4 Ethical (伦理的) dilemmas about AI decision-making and the potential for prejudice and inequality raise significant moral questions. As AI is more used in surveillance (监控) systems, issues about privacy and civil liberties arise, needing careful oversight and regulation. 5 It is crucial for societies to create frameworks that ensure AI technologies are developed with responsibility, lowering potential risks while maximizing benefits. As AI evolves, creating an environment where technology advances and ethical responsibility coexist will be key. Involving diverse stakeholders (利益相关方) in discussions about AI’s future can help create inclusive strategies that benefit all global citizens. A.Similarly, AI in finance is changing risk assessment. B.But debates over AI’s influence is more than heated. C.Managing AI’s benefits and risks needs careful handling. D.Besides, AI’s widespread use presents complex dilemmas. E.Despite these advances, AI’s future seems going nowhere. F.However, critics warn that AI could worsen existing problems. G.As AI continues to evolve, more profound changes may occur. 1 / 2 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 专题05 七选五 主题01 人与社会——旅游 Passage 1 (24-25学年高二上·山师大附中·期中) To put into words my time in Antarctica and South Georgia is nearly impossible. 1.根据上文“I had always described it as a once-in-a-lifetime experience.(我一直把它描述为一个一生一次的经历。)” 2.根据下文“How tiny you feel next to towering glaciers and icebergs.(在高耸的冰川和冰山旁边,你感觉多么渺小)”和“The solemn silence calms your restlessness and reminds you of heart-touching stories of survival from explorers of the past. 4.根据上文“For example, when you see a brown skua (贼鸥) attacking a penguin chick, your heart aches. Then your expedition guide regretfully tells you that a chick that is small in March would have very slim chances of surviving the upcoming winter. (例如,当你看到一只棕色贼鸥攻击一只企鹅雏鸟时,你的心会痛。然后你的探险向导遗憾地告诉你,一只在三月出生的小企鹅在即将到来的冬天存活的机会非常渺茫。)”可知,自然是残酷的,其中有弱肉强食,经历着一次次生命循环,D选项“循环仍在继续,你不知道该为谁加油。”能够承接上文,描述自然生命的循环。故选D。 5.根据上文“The penguins are completing their yearly feather-changing process. They are really weak during this time, and cannot dive. (企鹅正在完成一年一度的换羽过程。这段时间它们真的很虚弱,不能潜水。)”可知,企鹅在的换羽过程中很虚弱,G选项“探险队确保我们保持距离,没有吓到他们”能够承接上文,企鹅在的换羽过程中很虚弱,所以探险队确保保持距离,不要吓到它们。此处them与上文The penguins呼应。故选G。 主题02 人与自我——生活与学习 Passage 1 (24-25学年高二上·山东日照·期中) Stagnation (停滞) is the silent thief of energy. 1.上文提到“The longer we stay still — physically, mentally or emotionally — the more our life energy gets blocked.(我们在身体、心理或情感上停滞的时间越长,我们的生命能量就越容易被阻塞。)”,说明了停滞会导致生命能量的阻塞;G选项“Just like a river that stops flowing becomes cloudy, stagnation in life increases stress.(就像一条停止流动的河流会变得浑浊一样,生活中的停滞会增加压力。)” 2.上文“The body is our source of energy.(身体是我们的能量来源。)”指出了身体是能量的源泉;F选项“Long hours of sitting, poor sleep, and an inactive lifestyle slow down blood flow.(长时间的坐着、睡眠不足和不活跃的生活方式会减慢血液循环。)” 3.上文提到“Take up a new hobby, or revisit one you dropped.(培养一个新的爱好,或者重拾一个你放弃过的爱好。)”,建议通过培养或重拾爱好来保持思维的活跃;B选项“And don’t underestimate the power of journaling.(而且不要低估写日记的力量。)” 4.下文“When we suppress how we feel especially anger, sadness or fear, we store it in our bodies which leads to stress.(当我们压抑自己的感受,尤其是愤怒、悲伤或恐惧时,我们会把这些情绪储存在身体里,从而导致压力。)” 故选A。 5.上文提到“Reach out to someone who inspires you, join a group with shared interests, or simply spend quality time with loved ones.(联系那些激励你的人,加入一个有共同兴趣的小组,或者简单地与亲人共度美好时光。)” Passage 2 (24-25学年高二上·山东潍坊·期中) Summer vacation has begun for many of us, and chances are your kids are spending their free time in front of a screen instead of enjoying the nice weather. 1.前文“We won’t repeat the warnings about children and screen time here, but we admit it: Pulling them away from video game can be tricky, as they’re so addicted.(我们不会在这里重复关于孩子和屏幕时间的警告,但我们承认:让他们远离电子游戏是很棘手的,因为他们太沉迷于电子游戏了)”提到让孩子远离电子屏幕很棘手,因为他们上瘾,D选项“However, sunshine and exercise might change their attitude.(然而,阳光和锻炼可能会改变他们的态度)”起到转折作用,引出下文利用户外活动吸引孩子,符合语境。故选D项。 2.后文“When you get home, have them search for any similar ones in your backyard.(当你回到家,让他们在你的后院寻找任何类似的)”提到回家后让孩子在后院找类似的东西,G选项“Let them appreciate the different flowers and ask about their favorites.(让他们欣赏不同的花朵并询问他们最喜欢的)”指出花朵是可以在户外观察的,且与后文回家找类似事物相呼应。故选G项。 3.后文“You could start a tic-tac-toe game using sticks and rocks or go on a hike and give each other points for each animal or tree they see.(你可以用棍子和石头来玩井字游戏,或者去徒步旅行,为他们看到的每一种动物或树木给对方分数)”列举了用树枝和石头玩井字游戏以及徒步并为看到的动物或树计分等活动,C选项“Have some ideas ready on the fly to keep them occupied.( 随时准备一些点子让他们有事可做)”统领下文这些活动,上下文紧密连接。故选C项。 4.后文“However, sometimes your kid isn’t into it — or is too little to hike any real distance.(然而,有时你的孩子并不喜欢——或者太少以至于不能真正地走远)”提到有时孩子不感兴趣或者太小走不了太远,B选项“A walk in the woods can be great for the whole family.(在树林里散步对全家都很好)”与后面徒步相关内容相联系,上下文紧密连接。故选B项。 5.前文“In that case, let them be the leader and decide your family’s direction.(在这种情况下,让他们成为领导者,决定你家庭的方向)”提到让孩子做领队、决定方向,F选项“You are not necessarily reaching the destination you want to reach.(你不一定会到达你想去的目的地)”与孩子决定方向可能导致的结果相符,且能让孩子对活动有主人翁意识和责任感。故选F项。 Passage 3 (24-25学年高二上·山东青岛·期中) Collapsed on the sofa, eyes half-closed, one part of your brain screams that you should be sleeping, but the other is whispering just one more episode, one more level on that game. 1.根据前文“Collapsed on the sofa, eyes half-closed, one part of your brain screams that you should be sleeping, but the other is whispering just one more episode, one more level on that game.(瘫倒在沙发上,眼睛半闭着,你大脑的一部分尖叫着说你应该睡觉了,但另一部分却在低语,只是再多上一集,再上一关)”以及后文“As defined by researchers Kroese, it is the habit of needlessly and voluntarily delaying going to bed, despite foreseeably being worse off as a result.(根据研究人员克罗斯的定义,这是一种不必要的、自愿推迟上床睡觉的习惯,尽管可以预见结果会更糟)”可知,后文在下定义,所以空处应是提出一个相关概念,B项“So what exactly is this bedtime procrastination?(那么睡前拖延症到底是什么呢?)” 2.根据前文“Why do we keep stuck in the cycle of bedtime procrastination (拖延)? The answer, it turns out, is a mix of digital distractions and our own psychological tendencies.(为什么我们总是陷入睡前拖延症的怪圈?事实证明,答案是数字干扰和我们自己的心理倾向的结合)”可知,本段解释了为什么我们总是陷入睡前拖延症的怪圈,是因为数字干扰,所以F项“As life goes tech-driven, we spend more time on screens.(随着生活越来越受科技驱动,我们花在屏幕上的时间越来越多)”是对前文提到的数字干扰的详细解释,而后文“Besides, when we’re dealing with negative emotions, it’s appealing to drown them out with some entertainment until we’re too tired to feel anything.(此外,当我们处理负面情绪时,用一些娱乐来淹没它们是很有吸引力的,直到我们太累了,感觉不到任何东西)”则是对心理倾向的详细解释。故选F。 3. Think back to your childhood. Many of us had bedtime routines that included a set sleep time, a story, or perhaps a bedtime song. As adults, we can benefit from the same consistency.(建立一个固定的就寝时间。回想一下你的童年。我们中的许多人都有睡前习惯,包括固定的睡觉时间,听故事,或者听睡前歌。作为成年人,我们可以从同样的一致性中受益)”可知,本段主要讲述建立一个固定的就寝时间,所以E项“We can set a regular sleep schedule and try to stick to it.(我们可以制定一个有规律的睡眠时间表,并尽量坚持下去)”符合本段主题,是对前文的总结。故选E项。 4.根据前文“Manage digital distractions.(管理数字干扰)”以及后文“They entertain, educate, and connect us, but they also distract and keep us awake.(它们娱乐、教育和连接我们,但它们也会分散我们的注意力,让我们保持清醒)”可知,后文讲述电子产品有好处也有坏处,所以A项“Our smart devices are double-edged swords.(我们的智能设备是一把双刃剑)”符合本段主题,下文是对本句的解释。故选A项。 5.设空位于段首,为本段中心句,根据后文“When those negative emotions keep us up, we need to address them directly. Relaxation exercises, such as deep breathing, yoga, or meditation, can help calm our minds and prepare us for sleep.(当这些负面情绪困扰我们时,我们需要直接解决它们。放松练习,如深呼吸、瑜伽或冥想,可以帮助我们平静头脑,为睡觉做准备)”可知,本段讲述怎么处理负面情绪,所以D项“Master stress and anxiety management techniques.(掌握压力和焦虑管理技巧)”符合本段主题,为中心句。故选D项。 主题03 人与自我——生活与学习 Passage 1 (24-25学年高二上·山东泰安·期中) The question “Who am I?” can bring on a series of thoughts, emotions, and feelings, but what if you don’t know how to answer? 1.由上文“The question “Who am I?” can bring on a series of thoughts, emotions, and feelings, but what if you don’t know how to answer? (“我是谁?”这个问题会引发一系列的想法、情绪和感受,但如果你不知道如何回答该怎么办呢?)”可知,上文提出的问题很难回答,本空应对为什么很难回答“我是谁?”对我是谁这个问题做出解释。D选项“Getting to know yourself is a life-long journey. (了解自己是一段终生的旅程。)”能承接上文,符合语境。故选D。 2.由上文“Taking care of yourself physically and mentally is essential to being the best version (版本) of you. (在身体和精神上照顾好自己是成为最好的自己的关键。)”以及下文 “This can help you feel more at peace with life and yourself.”(这可以帮助你对生活和自己感到更平静。) G选项“Try to schedule time to do something for yourself. (试着安排时间为自己做些事情。)”进一步说明了自我照顾的方式,即安排时间为自己做事,能承接上文,符合语境。故选G。 3.由上文“Rather than taking work with you on the way home, leave it at the office door. Your worth doesn’t have to be defined by your job, and neither does your life. Take some time each day to focus on other goals and hobbies outside of work. (不要把工作带回家,把它留在办公室门口。你的价值不一定要由你的工作来定义,你的生活也是如此。每天花一些时间专注于工作之外的其他目标和爱好。)”可知,这里在说要平衡工作和生活,不要让工作过度影响生活,本空应解释这种做法带来的好处。E选项“It helps to refresh you and avoid being tired out. (这有助于让你恢复精神,避免疲惫不堪。)”能承接上文,符合语境。故选E。 4.由上文“Ask yourself what types of situations make you feel uncomfortable. For instance, are there certain jokes that unsettle you? Identifying painful factors can help you develop an environment you’re happy and safe in. (问问自己什么样的情况会让你感到不舒服。例如,有没有某些笑话让你不安?识别痛苦因素可以帮助你营造一个快乐安全的环境。)”以及下文“Don’t ever apologize for saying ‘no’ to situations that may make you feel off — you know what’s best for you! (永远不要为拒绝那些可能让你感觉不舒服的情况而道歉——你知道什么对你是最好的!)”可知,本空应提出进一步的建议来强化设定界限的重要性。C选项“Additionally, be firm when setting boundaries. (此外,在设定界限时要坚定。)”既承接了上文关于识别痛苦因素建立合适环境(与建立界限相关)的内容,又引出下文坚定说“不”的内容,起到承上启下的作用,符合语境。故选C。 5.由上文“Think about where you want to see yourself in 5 days, months, or years. What goals can you make to turn that vision into your reality? (想想你希望在5天、几个月或几年后看到自己处于什么状态。你可以设定什么目标来将这个愿景变为现实?)”以及下文“They can be as simple as making the bed every morning. (它们可以像每天早上整理床铺一样简单。)”可知,这里需要一个具体化的建议来说明目标的性质。A选项“These objectives are not necessarily big. (这些目标不一定很大。)”能承上启下,符合语境。故选A。 Passage 2 (24-25学年高二上·山东菏泽·期中) “New Year, New You”. 1.根据上文“On the one hand, the New Year’s resolutions reflect our hope to make a personal transformation. On the other hand, they show our regret of the past year.(一方面,新年决心反映了我们希望实现个人转变的愿望。另一方面,它们也显示了我们对过去一年的遗憾)”可知新年决心具有双重性,可以推理出作者在下文要提出一个关于新年决心为何会带来矛盾情感的问题,与E项“Why are we going through such contradictory feelings?(为什么我们会经历如此矛盾的情感?)”表达的含义一致。故选E项。 2.根据上文“It is not because of a lack of self-discipline. (这并不是因为缺乏自律)”以及下文“In other words, we seek to “become unrecognizable”(换句话说,我们寻求“变得认不出”)”可知,造成这种现象的原因并非我们不够自律,而是我们追求“变得认不出”,可以推理出空白处要表达的是我们追求的是彻底改变,与C项“But it’s the very attempt to make complete changes.(但正是试图做出彻底改变)”表达的含义一致。故选C项。 3.根据下文“With a new year beginning, we want to finally feel that we’re in the driver’s seat when it comes to our health, finances, personality and so on. (随着新年的开始,我们终于希望在健康、财务、个性等方面掌握主动权)”可知我们在新年的时候希望在健康、财务、个性等方面掌握主动权,也就是说我们追求的是获得掌控生活的感受,与G项“On the contrary, it’s about obtaining a sense of controlling our life. (相反,这是关于获得掌控生活的感受)”表达的含义一致。故选G项。 4.根据下文“If 2025 is your year for getting fit, it probably isn’t also the time to start tidying your home or learning a new language. (如果2025年是你的健身年,那么现在可能不是开始整理家居或学习新语言的时候)”可知,如果你的目标是健身,就不要开始整理家居或学习新语言,可以推理出此处要表达的是专注于有限数量的目标,与F项“It also means focusing on a limited number of goals at a time. (这也意味着一次专注于有限数量的目标)”表达的含义一致。故选F项。 5.根据上文“So let 2025 be the year when we finally stop trying to become someone else. (所以让2025年成为我们终于停止试图成为别人的一年)”以及下文“Let’s start doing things in baby steps: one message to a friend or one workout. Not many, but at least one. Not later, but right now. (让我们开始迈出小步:给朋友发一条信息或做一次锻炼。不多,但至少一次。不是以后,而是现在。)”可知,我们要停止试图成为别人,并从现在开始付出行动,可以推理出此处要表达的是接受真实的自己并从现在开始行动,与B项“Accept who we really are and start from there. (接受我们真实的自己,并从那里开始)”表达的含义一致。故选B项。 Passage 3 (24-25学年高二上·山东东营·期中) Wisdom is not just a good quality. 1.根据上文“You may have experienced the situation where someone staring at you, such as when you’re quietly seated on a bus, only to find that the person across from you is looking at your feet. Did you put on two different shoes? No, you check your shoes — both are the same.(你可能经历过有人盯着你看的情况,比如当你安静地坐在公共汽车上时,却发现对面的人在看你的脚。你穿了两只不同的鞋吗?不,你检查你的鞋子——两者是一样的)”结合下文解释凝视的原因可知,本句为过渡句,引出后文人们喜欢凝视的原因。故A选项“那么,是什么导致了这样的凝视呢?”符合语境,故选A。 2.根据上文“A new study by Hannah Scott and colleagues from the University of London suggested that people stare because faces, especially the eyes, provide many useful non-verbal clues about a person’s mental state.(伦敦大学的汉娜·斯科特及其同事的一项新研究表明,人们之所以盯着别人看,是因为脸,尤其是眼睛,提供了许多关于一个人精神状态的有用的非语言线索)”可知,上文提到人脸提供了一些精神状态的线索,且强调了眼睛包含信息更多,故C选项“眼睛包含与社交相关的信息”符合语境,故选C。 3.根据后文“The study also found that people may focus on others’ lips during talks. If you feel someone’s gaze on your mouth while speaking, it’s likely not an indication of romantic interest, but rather that they might not hear you well. Similarly, people may look at your hands when you gesture. As they may be trying to understand your actions when you are talking or performing a task.(研究还发现,人们在谈话时可能会关注他人的嘴唇。如果你在说话的时候感觉到有人盯着你的嘴看,这很可能不是对你有好感,而是他们可能听不清你说的话。同样,当你做手势时,人们可能会看着你的手。因为当你说话或执行任务时,他们可能会试图理解你的行为)”可知,后文提到对话的时候人们会关注他人的嘴唇,即不只关注眼睛。故B选项“但吸引目光的不只是眼睛”符合语境,故选B。 4.根据上文“The study showed that people tend to direct their gaze at the part of the body that provides the most information.(研究表明,人们倾向于把目光投向提供最多信息的身体部位)”以及后文“They get the audience to focus on their faces while performing hand tricks. This technique helps switch attention from their hands during card tricks or coin magic.(他们在表演手技时让观众把注意力集中在他们的脸上。这项技术有助于在玩纸牌或硬币魔术时将注意力从他们的手上转移开)”可知,后文提到了表演魔术,推测是用魔术师进行举例说明。故D选项“这就解释了魔术师是如何误导别人的”符合语境,故选D。 5.根据上文“Scott’s study concluded that people are not naturally biased to focus on someone’s face. Instead, they are drawn to the body parts that provide the most relevant information.(斯科特的研究得出的结论是,人们不会自然地偏向于关注别人的脸。相反,它们会被吸引到提供最相关信息的身体部位)”可知,本句承接上文,具体说明被吸引到关注的身体部位是什么。故E选项“如果有人在说话,眼睛会吸引注意力”符合语境,故选E。 Passage 2 (24-25学年高二上·山东淄博·期中) If you have ever kept a secret from a friend, a family member, or a romantic partner, chances are that these same people have kept secrets from you. 1.根据上文的“But when you have fears and worries, you need to know that people react more positively to disclosures (透露的秘闻) than you often imagine. (但当你有恐惧和担忧时,你需要知道人们对披露的秘闻反应比你想象的要积极得多。)”可知,人们其实对所透露的秘闻的反应更多的是积极的一面,所以不需要担忧,结合下文的“But when you take the risk to do so, your friend will recognize your sincerity. (但是当你冒险去做的时候,你的朋友会认出你的真诚。)”可知,此空应指的是冒险做的某事能让朋友看出你的真诚,D选项“It might take courage to reveal something sensitive. (透露一些敏感的东西可能需要勇气。)”讲述的内容与空后的内容为转折关系,且承接上文中提到的透露秘闻这件事情,符合语境。故选D项。 2.根据下文的“Just like the leaves that nobody hears falling, a disclosure with no listener is barely a disclosure at all. (就像没有人听到树叶飘落的声音一样,没有听众的披露根本算不上披露。)”可知,此空讲述的内容就像是所做的事情没有听众一样,B选项“You could shout your secret in an empty forest. (你可以在空旷的森林里大声说出你的秘密。)”可知,对着空旷的森林说出秘密就像是没有听众一样,与空后所做的比喻吻合,符合语境。故选B项。 3.根据上文的“When you reveal secrets to others, you are often looking for help, and seeking out the people who prove most helpful. Speaking about a negative experience can have the side-effect of bringing back the negative emotions you associate it with. (当你向别人透露秘密时,你通常是在寻求帮助,并寻找那些被证明最有帮助的人。谈论一段消极的经历可能会产生副作用,让你回想起与之相关的消极情绪。)”可知,透露秘密其实是在寻求帮助,而且谈论消极的经历会产生副作用,结合空格所处的位置,此处应是对上文内容的总结,E选项“That’s why shouting your secret out is often not enough. (这就是为什么大声说出你的秘密往往是不够的。)”承接上文的内容,且对本段内容做出总结,符合语境。故选E项。 4.根据上文的“Another person can offer you two different kinds of help: emotional support and practical support. If you can find someone you feel comfortable opening up to, they are likely to give you one if not both kinds. (其他人可以为你提供两种不同的帮助:情感支持和实际支持。如果你能找到一个让你感到可以敞开心扉的人,他们很可能为你提供一种帮助,如果不是两种的话。)”可知,如果能够找到一个能让你敞开心扉的人,他们会给你提供至少一种帮助,结合下文的“The harm of negative thinking is easier to break when we bring others in. (当我们引入他人参与时,负面思考的伤害更容易被打破。)”可知,此空应是起到承上启下的作用,C选项“This means it is time to talk to someone. (这意味着是时候跟某人谈谈了。)”中的this指代的是上文中提到的找到能让你敞开心扉的人,且下文是对此空的进一步解释说明,符合语境。故选C项。 5.根据下文的“This is all the more reason to share what’s on your mind. When you open up to others and they will open up to you. (这更是理由让你分享心中的想法。当你向他人敞开心扉时,他们也会向你敞开心扉。)”可知,此空应是让你分享心中想法的理由,F选项“Having extra secrets is burdensome. (拥有额外的秘密是一种负担。)”讲述的内容为下文中this指代的内容,且与下文为因果关系,符合逻辑。故选F项。 Passage 3 (24-25学年高二上·山东曲阜·期中) If you’re going abroad for college, you might be thinking about how to get yourself a safe and cozy home for the years ahead. 2.根据本段小标题“How to find a house.(如何找房子)”和下文“Another good idea is to talk to seniors who are currently living off campus.(另一个好主意是和目前住在校外的高年级学生谈谈)”可知,空处也是描述租房子的方法,E项“首先,你可以问问已经住在校外的朋友”符合语境,故选E。 3. 4.上文“However, remember that finding the right roommates for you is the most important thing, other than safety concerns.(然而,请记住,除了安全问题之外,为你找到合适的室友是最重要的)”提到找到合适的室友最重要,下文“definitely do not lie about your preferences, schedule, or habits, even if talking about them could make you uncomfortable(绝对不要在你的喜好、日程安排或习惯上撒谎,即使谈论这些可能会让你感到不舒服)”是描述在寻找室友时的注意事项,C项“在找室友时”和上下文联系紧密,符合语境,故选C。 5.根据下文“Constantly running into conflicts with your quiet roommate is definitely the last thing you want.(总是和你安静的室友发生冲突绝对是你最不想要的)”提到和喜欢安静的室友发生冲突,故空处应是描述自身与安静相反的喜好,A项“如果你喜欢聚会”符合语境,故选A。 主题04 人与自然——环境保护 Passage 1 (24-25学年高二上·山东聊城·期中) Finding a bird scared after striking a window can be a surprising and heartbreaking experience. 1.结合前一句“Finding a bird scared after striking a window can be a surprising and heartbreaking experience. (发现一只鸟在撞到窗户后受到惊吓可能是一种令人惊讶和心碎的经历)”和下文列举的具体方法可知,虽然这是一次令人心碎的经历,但采取点措施就可以帮助它们,G项“然而,一点点爱和保护可能会有所帮助”符合语境,故选G。 2.根据前一句“Most window-collision birds will have some degree of eye injury. (大多数撞窗的鸟都会有一定程度的眼睛受伤)”可知,大多数撞窗的鸟儿的眼睛会受伤,A项“许多鸟类也会有脑损伤”中的also构成递进关系,也是描述撞窗的鸟儿的受伤情况,故选A。 3.根据上文“others will shock and scream and may try to escape. However, this is a fear response. (其他鸟会震惊和尖叫,并可能试图逃跑。然而,这是一种害怕的反应)”可知,有的鸟会震惊和尖叫并试图逃跑,这是害怕的反应,F项“这并不表示他们没有受伤”与上文构成对比关系,逃跑是因为害怕,并不表示它们没有受伤,故选F。 4.根据上文“For smaller birds, the best “ambulance” is a paper bag, like a lunch bag or a small paper shopping bag. (对于体型较小的鸟类来说,最好的“救护车”是纸袋,比如午餐袋或小型纸质购物袋)”可知,上文描述了对于体形较小的鸟类,最好的“救护车”是纸袋,B项“盒子可能适合较大的鸟”讲述使用盒子救助体型较大的鸟,符合语境,故选B。 5.根据下文“If it doesn’t, close the box back up and open  it every 15 minutes until the bird is strong enough to achieve takeoff. (如果不能飞出去,把箱子重新关上,每隔15分钟打开一次,直到小鸟有足够的力量起飞)”可知,前后表示相反的关系,表示对比,下文讲鸟不能飞的情况,空处应是对应讲鸟可以飞的情况,D项“打开盒子,让鸟儿飞出去”符合语境,故选D。 Passage 2 (24-25学年高二上·德州一中·期中) Have you ever thought about pouring used cooking oil down the sink? 1.上文“Have you ever thought about pouring used cooking oil down the sink? Just turn on the tap and flush it all away.(你有没有想过把用过的食用油倒进下水道?只要打开水龙头,把它们全部冲走。)”提出了一个设想,即把用过的食用油倒进下水道里然后冲走,下文“Not only does this bad habit cause problems in your house, backyard, or neighborhood, but pouring such substances down the sink also creates widespread problems for the entire wastewater system and the workers responsible for its maintenance.(这种坏习惯不仅会给你的房子、后院或邻居带来问题,而且将这类物质倒入下水道还会给整个废水系统以及负责维护该系统的工作人员带来广泛的问题。)” 2.根据上文“But the water industry has no control over what we do in the privacy of our homes.(但水务行业无法控制我们在家中私密空间的行为。)” 故选A。 3.根据上文“When still hot, oils are often liquid and can be easily poured away. But down in the sewer pipes, they rapidly cool and solidify.(油在热的时候通常是液体,可以很容易地倒掉。但在下水道管道里,它们会迅速冷却并凝固。)”可知,油在下水道管道里会迅速冷却并凝固,这是一个严重而普遍的问题。E选项“这是一个严重而普遍的问题”符合语境。故选E。 4.根据下文“Think about hair and so-called ‘flushable wipes’. They can build up over time, creating ‘fatbergs’: horrible masses of wipes, hair, hardened oils and other waste. Oils act as the glue that helps fatbergs build up at choke points in sewer systems.(想想头发和所谓的‘可冲洗湿巾’。随着时间的推移,它们会不断积累,形成‘脂肪山’:可怕的湿巾、头发、硬化的油脂和其他废物的堆积。油脂就像胶水一样,帮助脂肪山在下水道系统的堵塞点堆积起来。)”可知,油还会与其他被冲走的物质结合,从而造成麻烦,G选项中的also表示递进关系,G选项“油还会与其他被冲走的物质结合,从而造成麻烦”引出下文,符合语境。故选G。 5.根据上文“There are more responsible ways of handling oils than just flushing them away.(处理油脂的方法有很多,比仅仅把它们冲走更负责任。)和下文“Small amounts of cooking oil can safely be composted. Even just pouring oils into the rubbish is better. But remember, you may need to cool hot oils down before putting them into the bin.(少量的食用油可以安全地堆肥。甚至只是把油倒进垃圾里也比冲走好。但要记住,把油放进垃圾桶之前,你可能需要先把热油冷却。)”可知,本段介绍了一些处理食用油的更负责任的方法,F选项“食用油实际上可以回收并用来制造生物燃料”也是处理食用油的一种更负责任的方法,符合语境。故选F。 Passage 3 主题01 人与自我——生活与学习 Passage 1 (24-25学年高二上·山东菏泽·期中) When you are hungry, how will you respond? 【答案】1.C 2.E 3.A 4.G 5.D 【导语】本文是一篇说明文,主要阐述了思维也会像肚子一样“饥饿”,而通过广泛阅读可以解决思维饥饿的问题,还能激发创造力、丰富词汇量等。 1.根据上文“When you are hungry, how will you respond? Have your favorite meal and stay quiet after that?(当你饿的时候,你会如何应对?吃你最喜欢的食物然后安静下来吗?)”以及下文“But it never lets you know, because you keep it busy thinking about your friends or favorite stars. So it silently serves your needs and never lets itself grow. When mind loses its freedom to grow, creativity sets a full stop.(但它从不让你知道,因为你让它忙于思考你的朋友或最喜欢的明星。所以它默默地满足你的需求,从不放任自己成长。当思维失去成长的自由时,创造力就会停止)”可知这里将人的思维和胃进行类比,与C项“Just like your stomach, your mind is also hungry.(就像你的胃一样,你的思维也会饥饿)”表达的含义一致,故选C项。 2.根据下文“Why reading but not watching TV? It is because reading has been the most educative tool used by us right from childhood(为什么是阅读而不是看电视呢?这是因为从童年起,阅读就是我们使用的最具教育意义的工具)”可知,此处强调阅读的作用,是对思维饥饿问题的解决办法。E 选项“Hunger of the mind can be actually solved through wide reading(思维的饥饿实际上可以通过广泛阅读来解决)”符合语境,引出下文对阅读作用的阐述,故选E项。 3.根据上文“When you read a book, of course you run your eyes through the lines and your mind tries to explain something to you(当你读一本书时,当然你的眼睛会浏览字里行间,你的思维会试图向你解释一些东西)”以及下文“Now this seed is unknowingly used by you to develop new ideas(现在,这颗种子在不知不觉中被你用来产生新的想法)”可知,此处说的是阅读内容以“种子”形式储存于思维中,A 选项“The interesting part of the book is stored in your mind as a seed(书中有趣的部分会像种子一样储存在你的脑海中)”符合语境,故选A项。 4.根据下文“Within no time you can start talking with your friends in English or any other language and never run out of the right words.(很快你就可以开始用英语或任何其他语言和你的朋友交谈,而且永远不会找不到合适的词)”可知这里强调阅读对语言交流的帮助,即对词汇量的丰富,与G项“Also this makes a significant contribution to your vocabulary.(这也对你的词汇量有很大的贡献)”表达的含义一致,故选G项。 5.根据上文“So, friends, do give food to your thoughts by reading, reading and more reading.(所以,朋友们,通过阅读、阅读、再阅读来给你的思想提供食粮吧)”以及下文“Go and get a book!(去拿本书吧)”可知,此处在号召大家行动起来,鼓励读者去阅读,与D项“Now what are you waiting for?(现在你还在等什么呢?)”表达的意思一致,故选D项。 Passage 2 (24-25学年高二上·山东济宁·期中) A 30-year observational study at the University of South Carolina found that swimmers had about half the risk of death from any cause compared to participants who were runners or walkers. 【答案】1.C 2.G 3.A 4.E 5.F 【导语】本文是一篇说明文。文章介绍了拖延症产生的原因以及应对方法。 1.根据上文“We look at our mountain of work to be done and the feeling of fear settles in.
