T: Yes! It’s a school timetable. We have many subjects at school. Do you like your subjects? Today, we’ll talk about our favourite subjects. Let’s learn Unit 4 My Favourite Subject, Section A. Vocabulary Presentation (3 minutes) Show vocabulary cards with pictures one by one. For example: T: (Hold a card with a math book) What’s this? It’s math. /mæθ/ (read twice, students repeat). Repeat the same way for *science /ˈsaɪəns/, history /ˈhɪstri/, geography /dʒiˈɒɡrəfi/, music /ˈmjuːzɪk/, art /ɑːt/, P.E. /ˌpiː ˈiː/, Chinese /ˌtʃaɪˈniːz/, English /ˈɪŋɡlɪʃ/. Show pictures of "a funny game" and "a boring class", present adjectives: T: This game is fun. /fʌn/ (students repeat). This class is boring. /ˈbɔːrɪŋ/ (students repeat). Then present interesting, difficult, relaxing in the same way. Quick memory game: Show cards for 3 seconds, ask students to say the words. Give stickers to those who answer correctly. Design Intent The daily talk connects with students’ school life (timetable), which is close to their real experience and helps them enter the learning situation quickly. Using picture cards to present vocabulary is visual and vivid, which conforms to Grade 7 students’ image thinking characteristics and helps them remember words easily.
