Unit1 Happy Holiday!

Section A “How do people spend their holidays?”
(1a-1d)

 I. Teaching Objectives

1. Language Knowledge Objectives

     Students can master the vocabulary related to holiday activities, such as "took music lessons", "visited some ancient buildings", "went to the mountains", "visited my grandparents", "went to a festival", "went to a summer camp".

     Students can understand and use the sentence patterns "Where did... go on holiday/vacation?" and "Did... do anything interesting?" to talk about holiday experiences.

2. Language Skill Objectives

     Students can listen and identify the holiday activities mentioned in the conversations.

     Students can talk about Yaming's and Emma's holidays using the target language.

3. Affective Objectives

     Students can develop an interest in sharing their own holiday experiences.

     Students can appreciate different ways of spending holidays.

 III. Teaching Procedures

 1. Warm-up (5 minutes)

 The teacher greets the students and asks some questions about their summer holidays, such as "Hello, everyone! How was your summer holiday? Did you do anything interesting?"

 Invite several students to share their holiday experiences. This helps to activate students' prior knowledge and create a relaxed learning atmosphere.

 2. Pre-listening (10 minutes)

 Activity 1a:

     The teacher presents the activities in 1a on the multimedia screen: "took music lessons", "visited some ancient buildings", "went to the mountains", "visited my grandparents", "went to a festival", "went to a summer camp".

     The teacher explains the meaning of each activity using simple English and body language. For example, for "went to the mountains", the teacher can make a climbing gesture.

     Ask students to tick the activities they did during the summer holidays. Then, ask some students to share their choices and briefly talk about the activities.
