Qi Baishi was a great Chinese artist. He was born in 1864 in Hunan in China. He grew up in a poor family. And he died in 1957. Qi Baishi was good at Chinese ink paintings. He drew birds and fish well. His shrimps were the most famous. They were very lifelike. And his picture Eagle Standing on Pine Tree was one of the most expensive paintings ever sold in China.
Qi Baishi was hardworking. Every day he drew at least five pictures. One day, it was his birthday. Many people came to his birthday party. So he didn't draw five pictures on that day. The next day, people asked him to have breakfast. But he refused. He went on drawing pictures. He drew ten pictures.
