Six weeks before his 97th birthday, Giuseppe Patemo made his dream of a lifetime come tree: He got a university degree. Mr. Patemo’s story has been reported around the world, and draws wide attention, partly because of his age, the more important part is that his life story shows his belief. He has encouraged millions of children in Italy and elsewhere while they are facing difficulties during the coronavirus pandemic (新冠疫情).
Born in Palermo in 1923, the first of seven children in a very poor family, Mr. Patemo began working soon after finishing primary school. It was only after he retired in the mid-1980s that he returned to his books.
“His story shows that dreams can come true and that you can remain young—not in age but in spirit—if you develop interests,” said Rosella Cancila, his teacher of history at the University of Palermo.
Italy’s university system is based on a three-year degree, then a two-year master’s course. University officials are hoping that Mr. Patemo will continue his studies. But he isn’t so sure. “I have to say that in this moment, I don’t know whether I would keep on studying with the same spirit,” he said, adding that all the attention had made him a bit tired. It was Christmas Eve. When everyone went to bed, Bunny couldn’t fall asleep. He still couldn’t think of what he wanted as a special Christmas present. He wondered how Santa-Father Christmas would know what to bring him if he didn’t know himself.
As he was sitting up in bed, Bunny heard a big noise on the roof and a sound downstairs. It was Santa Claus, he realized. Bunny jumped out of bed and ran down the hall to the stairs. He hoped to take a look at the old man before Santa left for his next stop.
By the time Bunny was at the bottom of the stairs, everything was silent again. Lots of presents were put under the Christmas tree, but Santa was gone. A little disappointed (失望的), Bunny turned to climb back upstairs when he heard a cry.
“Hello,” said Bunny. “Is somebody there?”
He was answered by another cry. Bunny looked around the big pile of presents to see what was making the noise. Right under the tree was a funny looking brown animal with big feet and sad eyes. It also had antlers (鹿角) on its head. Bunny almost mistook it for a dog.
“Are you a reindeer (驯鹿)?” asked Bunny.
“Yes,” replied the brown animal with antlers. “My name is Ralph.”
“And you were pulling Santa’s sled (雪橇)?”
“I was until I got air-sick,” replied Ralph. “Santa had to leave me here and go on with the other seven reindeer.”
“Isn’t it a bit unusual for a reindeer to get air-sick? I mean, isn’t flying what reindeer are famous for?”
“Not me, I’m afraid. It makes me frightened. I always feel sick when it comes to flying,” replied Ralph. “But everyone wanted me to pull Santa’s sled, so when it was my turn I gave it a try. I’m afraid I just wasn’t ___33___ for the job. Now I’m trapped here and I don’t know how to get back to the North Pole.”
“Well, if you like, you can stay with us as a friend,” said Bunny. As he made the offer, Bunny suddenly realized the special present he wanted from Santa was a new friend!

①Anger(生气)often makes us uncomfortable. Seeing your child’s anger can be especially uncomfortable. In order to reduce this feeling, parents will often encourage children to “stop crying” and say things like “It’s nothing to cry about.” It’s moments like these that plant the seeds(种子)of unhealthy anger. If a child never sees his or her parent express anger, he or she should never express anger, either. But if a parent always expresses their anger loudly, the child may think of anger as something that he is always afraid of. So we should learn how to create healthier anger in our kids.
②The first thing you can do to create healthier anger in your children is to practice creating healthier anger in yourself. Once you’re better at experiencing anger and expressing it in a healthy way, you’ll be able to set a good example for your kids.
③Stopping kids from expressing their feelings is wrong. You may feel bad when you believe you are wrong. When children express their feelings and are told that it’s nothing to cry about, they come to know that they themselves are bad.
④We need to raise them in an environment where it’s safe to express feelings. Once you feel more comfortable with your own anger, you can teach your children why anger is a helpful feeling. When your kid expresses anger, help them find out what it is that has made them angry. Why did it make them angry? How did it do that? Then, you can teach them that those feelings are never wrong and our expressions of our feelings are in our control.
⑤Anger is natural and common, and it can be experienced and expressed in a healthy way.
37. From the first paragraph, we can infer(推断)________.
A. expressing anger loudly is right not wrong B. parents should get angry with their children
C. parents have a great influence on their children D. children should express their anger like their parents
38. Parents should be a good example for children by ________.
A. stopping them from expressing B. raising them in a safe environment
C. letting them know they are bad or wrong D. expressing their own anger in a healthier way

Once upon a time, a sage (贤人) was passing through a street of the capital city of a kingdom. While he was walking, he noticed a coin on the side of the road and picked it up. The sage was used to living a simple life and had no use of that coin, so he thought of giving it to the one who was in need of it.
He strolled (漫步) around the streets throughout the day but didn’t find such a person. At night he reached a rest area and spent his night there.
The next morning, he woke up and was doing his daily activities. King who was passing by that rest area saw him and ordered his soldiers to stop there.
King went to the sage and said, “Great Sage! Today, I will fight with another state so that my kingdom can be expanded. Please bless me to be victorious …”
After thinking, the sage took out the coin he was holding on and gave it to the king. The king was confused and annoyed about this, so he asked, “Why did you give me this coin? What’s the meaning of this?”
The sage explained, “Oh, great King! I found this coin yesterday while strolling around the streets of your capital. But I had no use of it, so I decided that I would donate it to someone needy. The whole day I walked around meeting people in the city. With whomever, I communicated, found that they are living happily and satisfied with whatever they have and because of that I still keep this coin. Today, the king of this state, still has the greedy desire(贪欲) to gain more and isn’t satisfied with what he already has. So I feel like a person who needs this coin most is you.”

【答案】[例文]
It’s common to have stress in life. Different people feel stressed in different ways.
As for me, the stress comes from study. When I do badly in an exam, I feel stressed. When I have trouble with my homework, I feel stressed. Some students think stress is a bad thing. Every coin has two sides. While stress can make us worried, it can also make us a stronger person. When we are stressed, we may push ourselves harder and go out of our way to solve problems.
I have my own ways to deal with stress. Usually I ask my friends and parents for help. I always get great ideas from them. I also sing along with the music. And I sometimes go to the playground to give a loud shout, especially when I’m under great pressure.
In short, when we have stress, we shouldn’t be afraid. We should use it as a tool and deal with it in our own way. If so, we’ll lead a happy life.
