A Person Who Has Influenced My Life
There is always a time in one’s life when a hero comes along. Someone who has inspired you can really help you learn what life is about.
I remember it as if it was yesterday. I was fifteen years old that year. It was around eight o’clock one evening when my mother received a phone call from her brother-in-law, who told us my aunt was in hospital and that the doctor 266 them she would need an operation immediately. He never had any true friend because no one could relate to him. I must 270 that at the beginning I was filled with uncertainty as to how much of a 271 my cousin would bring on my family. Now looking back it saddens me to see the 272 I once showed.
Over the two weeks when Mark lived with my family, I probably understood more about life and its meanings. Thinking back, I took everything in daily life for granted, believing it would always be there. I never even thought about being able to do things like walking, brushing my teeth, or going to the bathroom on my own. Now I see how 273 I am to be able to do these things independently.
Mark was seventeen, but learned on a nine-year-old 274 . Although his learning ability was slower than most, he could still learn. He explored 275 to do most of the things everyone else did. 276 he did pretty well and succeeded in almost everything he tried to do. He 277 his illness and showed an ambition to love life. To him, having a successful life means achieving goals on his own terms and at his own 278 .

Passage 3
(2023-2024学年高二上·天津市部分区·期中)
It was early winter several years ago. I had pulled out my old winter 281 for another year’s use. It was still in pretty good 282 after so many winters’ wear. I didn’t really need a new one but I wanted one and 283 mentioned it to my daughter one day. She is such a sweet, loving soul that I should have 284 what would happen next. A few weeks later she gave me a 285 of a bright red, brand new, winter’s coat.
I put the old one in my closet(壁橱)and started to 286 the new coat every day. Each day, though, when I opened my closet, something upset me. It seemed a 287 that my still good, old coat should just sit there keeping no one 288 during the cold, winter days. After a few weeks I took it out and drove to a local charity. I knew that there someone who couldn’t 289 a coat might get my old one. I 290 and walked out the door. Then I saw a shaking man in only a 291 jacket walking in.
