A new movie named “731” will come out. It tells the story of Japan’s Unit 731, which carried out terrible experiments (实验) on humans in Harbin during World War II. Directed by Zhao Linshan, the film shows how this unit caught people and used them for cruel experiments and how Chinese people fought against the enemy.
For example, a street seller named Wang Yongzhang was tricked into joining so-called “medical tests” with a false promise of freedom. However, he and others experienced freezing tests, poison gas, and other painful experiments. Surprisingly, the leader of Unit 731 was never punished.
Today, the Unit 731 Museum in Harbin keeps the memory of this history alive. It has around 100,000 pieces of evidence (证据). At least 3,000 people from China, Korea, Mongolia, and Soviet were killed in the experiments. Jin Chengmin, the head of the museum, worked as the film’s historical expert. He believes it is important never to forget this history.

One day in autumn Squire Gordon, my master, went on a trip into town. John, my caretaker, went with him. I pulled the cart. The weather was rainy and windy, but we travelled happily.
Gordon’s business took a long time. We didn’t leave until late afternoon. The wind was then much higher. My master said to John, “I have never been out in such a storm!” Mr Gordon and John could not see well in the rain.
We came to a wooden bridge. It was very nearly dark. We could just see that the water was over the middle of the bridge. But as that happened sometimes when the floods were out, master did not stop. The moment my feet touched the first part of the bridge, I felt sure there was something wrong. I dare (敢于) not go forward, and I made a dead stop. “Go on, Beauty,” said my master, and he gave me a touch with the whip (鞭子), but I dare not move. He gave me a sharp cut and I jumped, but I dare not go forward.
“There’s something wrong, sir,” said John, and he got out and tried to lead me forward. “Come on, Beauty.” But I knew that the bridge was not safe.
Just then the man on the other side saw us.
“Hey! Halloo! Stop!” he cried.
“What’s the matter?” shouted my master.
“The bridge is broken in the middle, and part of it is carried away. If you go onto it, you’ll be into the river.”
“Thank you for saving us, Beauty!” said John. He gently turned me round to the right hand road by the river side. It grew darker and darker, stiller and stiller.
When we returned home the Squire told Mrs Gordon, “Black Beauty saved our lives. He knew the bridge was dangerous.”
John took me to the stable. Oh! What a good supper he gave me that night! What a nice bed of straw! I was glad of it, for I was tired.

“Please don’t kill me.” This is what a girl said recently when she was attacked by a sea lion in California, US. Usually considered a friendly animal, many believe the sea lion went crazy because it was poisoned (毒害) by algae (海藻).
The “criminal” is a toxin (毒素) from a harmful algae called Pseudo-nitzschia (拟菱形藻). According to the US National Marine Fisheries Service (NOAA Fisheries), more than 100 calls are made every day reporting sea lions and dolphins influenced by this toxin. John Warner, CEO of the Marine Mammal Care Center in Los Angeles, told the BBC that these animals don’t really hurt people. “These animals are reacting to the fact that they are sick,” he said. For example, when sea lions are affected (影响) by the toxin, they often appear very tired, confused and have seizures (癫痫). They might even get angry, reported The Guardian.
Pseudo-nitzschia grows fast when deep ocean water moves up to the surface. This brings nutrients that help the algae grow. Fish eat the algae and get the toxin, and when dolphins and sea lions eat those fish, they get sick.
However, according to NOAA Fisheries, the harmful algae showed up earlier than usual. The outbreaks (爆发) also happen more often. Climate change is a big reason for this, noted The Guardian. Warmer weather and changing ocean conditions make it easier for the algae to grow. Moreover, some scientists also think wildfires in Los Angeles might play a role. Large wildfires have caused the ocean near the beach to have more nutrients.
28. Why does the story begin with a girl being attacked by a sea lion?
A. To explain what to do in such situations.
B. To remind people to stay away from sea lions.
C. To show how toxins can make sea lions act dangerously.
D. To criticize (批评) humans for polluting the ocean.
29. What does Paragraph 2 say about poisoned sea lions?
A. They attack when they are sick.
B. They attack when they are tired.
C. They attack more often than dolphins.
D. They become well again quickly after an attack.
30. How does climate change affect the outbreaks of the harmful algae?
A. It makes them grow deeper underwater.
B. It makes the algae change in size.
C. It causes the algae to appear earlier.
D. It makes nutrients in the water fewer.
31. What can we infer about sea animals in California, according to the passage?
A. They may cause climate change to be worse.
B. They may continue to face health problems.
C. They may stop eating the algae very soon.
D. They may grow healthier as the ocean gets warmer.
D
In 1903, the Wright brothers’ historic flight opened the door to human aviation (航天). Since then, over the past century, human have been always reaching new heights in researching the skies. Today, a new chapter is unfolding in the skies—one led by drones that are changing how we live, work, and connect.
As part of the “low-altitude economy” (低空经济), these flying machines have become a sign of technological progress, fitting smoothly into both city and country life.
Take the Badaling Great Wall in Beijing as an example, where drones have turned a 50- minute hike for food and water into a three-minute convenience. Travelers now order on the phone, and electric drones deliver (递送) snacks and drinks, even collecting garbage on their return trips. Besides, in cities like Shenzhen, known as the “City of Drones,” technology goes further. In 2024, electric “air cars” that can take off and land upright started flying there. They don’t need long runways, showing how technology can become part of daily life.
Drones are also changing farming. In Guangxi, over 250,000 drones help protect plants. They watch over crops, spray pesticides (杀虫剂), and find pests, working quickly across large fields. This technology has cut labor costs by 40% compared to traditional methods, allowing farmers to manage more land with less effort. During harvest seasons, drones even help watch over fruit growth, guiding farmers to pick at the best time for better quality and higher yields (产量).
With such new technology, there are things to think about. As more drones fly, questions about safety, airspace rules, and personal information might come up. How can we make sure these machines fly safely with other planes? How do we balance space of use with protecting people’s space? Even if high-tech GPS helps drones fly in a right way, rules must be developed to help use them without risks.
From delivering snacks on the Great Wall to helping farms and cities, Chinese drones have gone from a new thing to a need. They show how creation can shorten the gap between old and new, city and country. As we step into this low-altitude revolution (变革), one thing is clear: The tomorrow is not just about flying higher, but about flying smarter.
32. How does the writer start the passage?
A. By describing a future plan.
B. By talking about a historic event.
C. By raising a recent problem.
D. By showing the changes of technology.
33. What can we infer about the use of drones?
A. The “air cars” in Shenzhen will replace traditional cars in the future.
B. Farmers now need more workers to control drones in the fields.
C. Proper rules are the key to making drones more helpful.
D. Farmers can use drones to watch fruit growth and pick fruits directly.
34. Which “gap” below has the same meaning as the “gap” in the last paragraph?
A. The culture gap often makes it hard to talk to foreigners.
B. The gap year before college helps students relax.
C. There’s a gap in the wall—we can climb through it.
D. The gap between the two buildings is used for a garden.
35. Which of the following shows the structure of this passage?
A. B. C. D.

Ⅵ. 任务型阅读。(65-66每小题2分,67-68每小题3分,共10分)
阅读下文并回答问题。
People often do things that make you angry. When this happens, just take a deep breath, count to ten in your mind, or even walk away for a few minutes if you can. Think about the situation carefully before you say or do anything. You’ll find that by giving yourself a little time to think, you’re more likely to find a good way to solve the problem.
I’m not telling you to let others walk all over you. I just want you to look for the good in people, even when they’re not nice to you. For example, imagine you’re taking your son or daughter to a basketball game. You’re standing in line, and the man behind you, who also has a child, starts pushing. You ask him to stop, but he gets mad and starts yelling. All of this is happening in front of both your child and his.
After things settle down, you might still feel angry and be mad at him in your head. But can you find anything good about this man? Most people would say no. But think about it—at least he’s a good father, spending time with his kid. You don’t know much else about him, but you can still find some positive qualities in him.
We usually only pay attention to the bad things about people and forget the good things. But if you start looking for the good, you’ll see things in a new way. This can change how you feel and bring good things into your life. Just like the saying goes, “What goes around comes around.” If you focus on the good in others, they’ll notice the good in you, and good things will happen to you. For example, ___________
When you do this, you also let out anger and sadness, and finally you create positive energy. Try it with everyone, whether you know them or not. Making positive energy is important to your happiness and success. Nobody wants to live with negative energy or have a negative life!

Chinese humor in English is helping the world understand Chinese culture better. It’s used a lot, especially on social media. This shows that Chinglish, a mix of English and Chinese, is not always regarded as wrong now like it used to be, but as a fun way to connect with others.
A popular example is a post (帖子) by a foreign blogger on a Chinese website. She talked about breaking up with her boyfriend. Many Chinese people left their ideas in English to comfort her, but their English wasn’t perfect. So some words of kindness turned into “You pretty, he not, you swan, he frog”. But others think it was fine because it was fast and convenient to write shorter words without changing the main meaning.
Chinglish even plays a part in the Oxford English Dictionary. Phrases like “add oil”, meaning jiayou in Chinese and “cheer” in English, have already been in the dictionary. Similar examples also include “Long time no see”. Such an act shows that so many speakers of the two languages have used the phrases or words that they can’t be neglected (忽视).
After the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, people started to accept Chinglish more. It’s now seen in things like video games, where Chinese words are kept instead of being translated. This can be seen from the latest hot game around the world with a rich Chinese culture—Black Myth: Wukong. In this game, the Chinese words like yaoguai are no longer translated into English words, but are kept as they are in Chinese. And foreign players just accept them and learn them happily as part of Chinese culture. Chinese people are also helping others understand their culture by explaining Chinglish words in games. This helps people around the world learn more about China.
But some people also show their worries. A teacher said that Chinglish should not be used in situations like in class or at an important meeting or discussion. It may cause misunderstanding and make others think you’re not professional.
Chinglish Connects the World
In the past, mixing Chinese and English seemed to be a mistake, but now the world accepts it in different ways. Chinese people use Chinglish on social media as an interesting way to communicate with others instead of being regarded as wrong. That’s because of its ____59____ without any changes of the original meanings. Some dictionaries also begin to include words like “add oil” because these words are quite ____60____. Even some foreign game players ____61____ with the help of some Chinese players. However, there are some different opinions. A teacher thinks Chinglish can cause some misunderstanding and bad impressions, which means it’s not ____62____.

Our school did a survey among students last week, asking what we enjoy most about playing sports. The results are quite interesting. According to the survey, 8% of the students enjoy learning new skills through sports. Another 12% like sports because it helps them reduce stress. 32% of the students find having fun as the most appealing part, and 26% think being fit and healthy is the best thing about sports. Only 5% chose “Others”. As for me, I really like playing basketball. I enjoy the process of learning new skills like dribbling and shooting. It’s a great way to challenge myself. Also, when I play basketball with my friends, we have a lot of fun. We laugh, cheer for each other, and the stress from study just fades away. Moreover, it keeps me fit and energetic. So, playing sports is not only good for our body but also brings us joy and new skills.
