丽江古城位于丽江市古城区,有大研古城、白沙民居建筑群、束河民居建筑群构成,面积共7.28平方千米。大研古城东依金虹,山北临玉龙雪山,西为狮子山,是丽江古城的主体部分。据丽江市记载,古城始建于宋末元初,盛于明清,距今近800年历史,因古城形似一块碧玉大砚而得名大岩。目前,大研古城是我国保存最为完整、最具纳西族风格的古代城镇。古城建筑融汉白藏各民族精华,古城布局遇水环绕,井泉交错,城北象山脚下的玉泉水南流而下,汇入城中,穿街绕巷,家家门前流水,户户跨水筑楼,形成以水为核心的古城布局。城中共有354座石桥和木板桥,是大研古城的桥梁,密度居中国之冠。碧江北端,一条玉龙从碧空蜿蜒而来,身披银鳞,腾跃着飞舞着。这就是纳西族的保护神、三多的化身、纳西人的神山玉龙雪山。玉龙雪山位于丽江坝子北端,距丽江古城15公里,东界丽江鸣音公路,西临虎跳峡谷,南起白沙御湖北至大具下虎跳口,大小山峰八九十座,其中较大的13座,俗称玉龙十三峰。主峰扇子陡海拔5596米,如羽扇轻展。从丽江古城远眺,其形犹如银色金字塔。纳西族对这个神山,还有这个生源地,最终都是分采这个忌讳的,包括是有心的地方,是啊也就是非常神圣的,不能去电舞的。
