In life, there are accepted rules that everybody follows. For example, you shouldn’t eat with your mouth open. In the UK, people should drive on the left and wait in line in public places. However, the rules aren’t clear online and it can be hard to know how to behave. Safer Internet Day helps people think about these matters.
When it comes to being safe online, you probably know the basic rule: don’t give personal information to somebody you don’t know. But now it’s also about whether you’re able to do the things you love without feeling worried. A study shows that 43% of the girls don’t share their opinions online because they fear someone may criticize them. In another study, around 51% of the respondents (调查对象) were worried about how others reacted ( 回应) to their online opinions. Here is some advice for you if you are bullied ( 欺凌) online.
The first thing to do is to tell an adult you trust about what’s happening. Besides, if the person who bullied you is unkind or posts something that makes you feel afraid, you can report it to the official on social media. Don’t react with unkindness. It can make things worse, so try to stay calm. At the same time, how you act online is just as important as how others treat you. So there are some unwritten rules for us to be good people online. Treat everybody with kindness online, respect others’ feelings and don’t be mean. If you’ve shared something you shouldn’t have, it’s never too late to say sorry and fix the situation. If you notice somebody is being bullied online, consider reporting it and getting in touch with the person being treated badly to make sure he or she is OK.
( ) 7. What can we know about online rules?
A. They are accepted by everyone. B. There are no clear online rules yet.
C. They can protect all people from danger. D. They are the same all over the world.
( ) 8. What does the underlined word “criticize” probably mean?
A. Know better about someone. B. Win someone’s praise on purpose.
C. Hurt someone with unkind words. D. Compare one person’s work with someone else.
( ) 9 How does the writer tell us about being a good person online?
A. By giving advice. B. By answering questions.
C. By listing numbers. D. By showing us facts.
( ) 10. What is the best title for the text?
A. Why People Need Rules Online B. Why People Celebrate Safer Internet Day
C. How Teenagers Deal with Bullying Online D. How Teenagers Behave and Keep Safe Online
D
During the Labour Day holiday, many people want to find dazi (搭子) or activity partners for travelling, eating or other activities. The activity of finding dazi is a new way of social contact ( 社交交往) for young people.
The idea of this activity is easy to understand. It helps people to find someone who has the same hobby as them and it doesn’t take much time. With one or a few dazi, people have more fun in the activities they are interested in.
A girl called Zhang Li is a high school student from Shandong. She likes talking with her meal dazi when she is having lunch. “We love to share our ideas on the food,” said the girl. “If my meal dazi doesn’t come to school one day, I will be sad.”
“It takes a lot of time to make friends with others. But it doesn’t need much time to have a dazi,” said another girl Shi Zhimin, a student from Shanxi. Zhang Li also has the same idea. She doesn’t want to spend too much time making friends, so having a dazi is good for her. She can feel relaxed and then she can have more time to study.
Also, dazi sometimes may give you some big surprises. “Once, my game dazi and I did something wrong when playing a game, but we worked together to turn the tide (扭转局势). By playing the game together, I find I like working with others now!” Shi Zhimin said.
Dazi is usually beneficial but it can be dangerous. People may lie on the Internet. For example, a young and beautiful girl on the Internet may be an old, short, and heavy man in real life. So think twice when finding dazi.
( ) 11. According to the passage, why do people like finding dazi?
A. Because they have the same idea about food.
B. Because they want to spend more time with others.
C. Because it helps people make friends from different places.
D. Because it doesn’t take much time to find friends with the same hobbies.
( ) 12. How will Zhang Li feel if her meal dazi doesn’t come to school?
A. Happy. B. Bored.
C. Sad. D. Relaxed.
( ) 13. Which of the following shows the structure of this passage?
E
Last term, some firefighters came to our school and talked to us about something important: Fire safety!
The firefighters told us all about how fires start and what we can do to stop them. They showed us the cool clothes and hats that firefighters wear, and they even let us try them on! We looked just like real firefighters!
However, the most important thing they wanted us to remember was what we must do in the middle of a fire. They told us to always stay low to the ground and crawl (爬行) to the nearest door. They also showed us how to use a fire extinguisher (灭火器) and call for help.
At the end of the visit, the firefighters gave us a test to see how much we learned. I was so proud of myself because I got all the answers right!
Several weeks later, we had a fire drill (消防演习) at school. The alarm went off, and we had to leave our classroom quickly. At first, I felt a little nervous, but I remembered everything the firefighters taught us. I stayed low to the ground, crawled to the door, and got outside. After the drill, our teacher reminded us that all the safety rules we learned are there to protect us and that we must take them seriously.
Now, whenever I hear the sound of a fire alarm, instead of being nervous, I feel prepared. To me, fire safety is not just a school lesson for a young student. Instead, it’s a lifelong skill that will always keep me safe.

A. The fires. B. The teachers and students.
C. The firefighters’ hats and clothes. D. A fire extinguisher.
( ) 15. According to the passage, what is the most important for students to do in the middle of a fire?
① To use a fire extinguisher. ② To stay low to the ground.
③ To crawl to the nearest door. ④ To call the firefighters for help.
A. ①② B. ③④
C. ②③ D. ②④
( ) 16. What happened to the writer during the drill?
A. He didn’t hear the fire alarm at first. B. He couldn’t remember what to do at all.
C. He put out the fire using the fire extinguisher. D. He did everything as the firefighters taught him.
( ) 17. Which of the following words may the writer use to describe the lesson on fire safety?
A. Necessary. B. Hard.
C. Scary. D. Boring.
第二节 阅读下面短文,并用英语回答问题 (请注意每小题的词数要求)。
F
Everywhere we go, no matter how old we are, we must follow safety rules. Though many people might not see the purpose of stopping at a stop sign or driving at the speed limit, rules keep us safe.
People start to learn about the importance of rules when they are children. Needless to say, there are many rules that teach children right from wrong and how to keep themselves and their friends safe. For example, children learn safety rules when they walk in the hallway at school. They are told not to run because they may hurt themselves or run into another student. In the lunchroom, children are taught to sit nicely while they are eating because they are more likely to choke (噎住) if they are jumping around in their seat. On the playground, they are told to use the equipment (设备) properly. For example, they should not go down the slide backward or climb up the slide when someone is going down because there can be an accident.
High school students will also be given safety rules but at a different level than younger children. High school students may be taught, for example, safety rules in the science lab. Lab safety is very important because if one thing is done wrong, it can result in a fire or a bad accident.

六、We Grow Up Safely
A safe school is quite important for our growth.
My school has many safety rules to protect students. For example, there is a monthly class meeting teaching us how to escape emergencies. Also, we are not allowed to run fast in the hallways or on stairs. I think these rules are helpful because they cut down the risks and keep us away from dangers.
However, I suggest adding one more class each week to teach us some important skills, like dealing with accidents. This may be very helpful to us.
As a student, I will follow our school’s safety rules, and engage in mutual peer monitoring with classmates to avoid dangerous actions. Let’s work together to make our school a safer place!
