B You should always support your kids and their natural talents. And if you nurture (培育) them, great things will happen. That's what 9-year-old Joe Whale's parents thought when they encouraged their son to keep drawing, even though he got into trouble for doodling (涂鸦) during class. They sent Joe to an after-school art class and his artistic abilities were quickly noticed by those around him. In fact, Joe was invited to decorate the dining room of the “Number 4” restaurant in Shrewsbury, England. Now, Joe is known as The Doodle Boy and has his own website, as well as social media (媒体) pages showing off his wonderful art. According to Greg, Joe's dad, his son has always loved drawing and “was added to the Gifted Register in primary school aged 4”. Greg also talked about how long it took Joe to finish his drawings on the dining room walls in the restaurant. “Joe spent about 122 hours decorating the wall.” What's more, Greg had some suggestions for parents who want to encourage their kids to develop their talent: I would advise parents to encourage their children to always follow their interest and dreams — research local workshops or groups within your local community. Joe's teacher recognized his talent and posted his work on Instagram. His drawings caught the eye of the “Number 4” restaurant which asked him to come over and decorate their walls with his doodles. Now, his dad drives him there so he can draw his heart out. Who knew that drawing in an after-class program would lead Joe to get his first job at only 9 years old? 24. What did Joe do in his class? A. He supported other naughty children. B. He left school to find his parents. C. He decorated the wall. D. He drew pictures in class. 25. What is Greg's suggestion for parents? A. Sending children to the local restaurant. B. Offering support for children's dreams. C. Talking with children's teachers actively. D. Making children stay at school all day long. 26. How did the “Number 4” restaurant find Joe? A. Joe's works were shown online. B. Joe's teacher introduced Joe to it. C. Joe was famous in the community. D. Joe talked about his drawings with it. 27. Who is the text mainly meant for? A. Teachers. B. Children. C. Parents. D. Bosses. C When visiting a doctor in the future, you can expect to be accompanied by a virtual version of yourself. This so-called digital twin will be a working model of your body that can be shown onto a physician’s computer screen. Updated with your latest vital signs, it will help the doctor make an accurate diagnosis (诊断) and provide personalized treatments for the patients. No matter how unreal this might seem the researchers at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) already use computer simulations (模拟) of the hearts of patients to test different treatments for a heart disorder. It would be far too dangerous to experiment this way on someone’s real heart. Digital twins are starting to be seen everywhere. They can not only monitor the health of jet engines on airliners, but also help carmakers spend fewer years on the development of new models by simulating test drives and crashes. All this is being powered by recent progress in artificial intelligence (AI), which gives twins the ability to make predictions about their physical counterparts (对应的事物), and adjust themselves based on new information.. Digital twins make it easier for humans to solve challenging problems, allowing people to have a look into the future. For businesses, this should mean better designs and operations. For society, the promise is also fascinating: personalized health care, and ways to prevent the earth from environmental disasters. Could these virtual twins go out of control? They might if they are programmed badly, or hacked into. Digital twins will take in mountains of data, some of it wrong and much of it raising concerns about privacy. Yet those risks are a natural part of technological progress. The appearance of the digital mirror world will raise new questions, but its potential benefits are already easy to see. 28. Which of the following best describes a digital twin? A. A virtual copy. B. A video game. C. A toy model. D. A medical database. 29. Why do researchers at QMUL use computer simulatıons of hearts? A. To reduce the time of the heart operation. B. To use real hearts much more conveniently. C. To help increase the patients’ recovery rates. D To avoid the danger of experimenting on real hearts. 30. How does AI contribute to the development of digital twins? A. It increases the efficiency of simulations through data analysis. B. It creates accurate digital copies for medical and industrial use. C. It enables digital twins to predict results and adapt on their own. D. It improves virtual models by adding real-time monitoring features. 31. Which of the following is the most suitable title for the passage? A. Digital Twins: A Potential Threat to Privacy B. Digital Twins: The Future of Problem-Solving C. Digital Twins: A New Age of Medical Treatment D. Digital Twins: A Double-Edged Sword of Technology D Great white sharks have been described as the most violent creature ever since the release of “Jaws” in 1975. But what if instead of one shark appearing, two were working together? Scientists say research off Mexico’s Guadalupe Island in the Pacific Ocean shows great white sharks are sociable and will sometimes work together to increase their chances of catching prey (猎物). Guadalupe Island is home to a small group of scientists and a popular tourist destination for spotting great white sharks because of a large quantity of seals. What makes this location unique is the waters off the island are very clear. A team of scientists from Florida International University created a “super social tag” tracking device to put on the great white sharks. With a video camera and sensors detecting a shark’s depth and direction, the device also has receivers to detect when other sharks are near them. The team then put the devices on three male and three female white sharks over a four-year period. The data showed sharks preferred to be in groups of the same sex (性别), but their ways of hunting were unique. One shark had the tag on for only 30 hours, but it associated with 12 other sharks. Another that had the tag on for five days was only with two other sharks. “Most associations were short, but there were sharks where we found considerably longer associations,” Yannis Papastamatiou, lead author of the study, said. “Seventy minutes is a long time to be swimming around with another white shark.” Papastamatiou said there is no clear answer to why white sharks are being social, but it’s probably because if one shark is successful in finding large prey, another will want to know how to have the same success. The sample size is small, but Papastamatiou said the findings give scientists a window into the relationship between sharks. He hopes to develop tracking systems that can be used for weeks, possibly years, to see the development of relationships between sharks. 32. What does the author want to tell us in the first 2 paragraphs? A. The purpose of the research. B. The social nature of sharks. C. The content of Jaws. D. The violence of sharks. 33. What’s the purpose of using the “super social tag”? A. To increase the chance of hunting. B. To promote associations among sharks. C. To keep track of the sharks’ activities. D. To study the relationships between sharks and their prey. 34. What can we learn about sharks from the research? A. They are divided into groups of the same sex. B. They have quite similar hunting habits. C. Their associations last at least 70 minutes. D. The frequency of sharks’ communications varies. 35. How does Papaslamatiou feel about his future study? A. Uncertain. B. Doubtful. C. Promising. D. Cautious. How to Cheer up Your Friend The following tips will make your friend cheer up. My father has a fixed idea that I would become a farmer too. Although I respect him and am indeed skilled at doing some farm work, I don’t agree that I should automatically follow in my father’s footsteps. When I was a teenager, my father happened to take me to an airport which belonged to one of his friends. It was the first time I had seen an aeroplane in real life. Knowing that I had never been on board, my father’s friend Tom offered me an opportunity to fly with him in his small aeroplane. I quickly accepted his offer! When we took off, I felt nervous but thrilled. Being up in the clouds and looking at the view below was unlike anything I had ever felt. I was just enjoying it. I assumed being a pilot would be the most awesome thing in the whole world. From that day a thought crept into my mind that I wanted to become a pilot, but I doubted whether my father would support me. After all, it was a totally different path from what he had planned for me. Therefore, I put the thought to the back of my mind, because I knew he would still insist on holding onto his previous idea. Anyway, besides helping my father on the farm, I would frequently visit Tom’s airport. Gradually, I got familiar with every button and switch on the aircraft and I learned a lot about planes, such as how to fill the plane with fuel, how to check the engines and so on. But what I had learned just left me wanting more, so I decided to go to college to become a professional pilot. This time I would not hide my desire any more. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ At the graduation ceremony, with my father present, I, as “Best Pilot”, had to deliver a speech. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $第一节听下面5段对话。 Daniel, I have to go out this afternoon. This so-called digital twin will be a working model of your body that can be shown onto a physician’s computer screen. Updated with your latest vital signs, it will help the doctor make an accurate diagnosis (诊断) and provide personalized treatments for the patients. No matter how unreal this might seem, the researchers at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) already use computer simulations (模拟) of the hearts of patients to test different treatments for a heart disorder. D. To avoid the danger of experimenting on real hearts. Digital Twins: A Double-Edged Sword of Technology 【答案】28 A 29. D 30. C 31. 根据第一段中“When visiting a doctor in the future, you can expect to be accompanied by a virtual version of yourself. This so-called digital twin will be a working model of your body that can be shown onto a physician’s computer screen. (未来去看医生时,你可能会有一个虚拟的自己陪同。这个所谓的数字孪生体将是你身体的一个运行模型,可以显示在医生的电脑屏幕上。)”可知,数字孪生是人体的虚拟模型,即虚拟副本。故选A项。 根据第二段中“No matter how unreal this might seem, the researchers at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) already use computer simulations (模拟) of the hearts of patients to test different treatments for a heart disorder. It would be far too dangerous to experiment this way on someone’s real heart. (无论这看起来多么不真实,伦敦大学玛丽皇后学院(QMUL)的研究人员已经使用患者心脏的计算机模拟来测试心脏疾病的不同治疗方法。在别人的真实心脏上用这种方式进行实验太危险了。)”可知,研究人员使用计算机模拟心脏是为了避免在真实心脏上进行实验的危险。故选D项。 【30题详解】 细节理解题。根据第三段中“All this is being powered by recent progress in artificial intelligence (AI), which gives twins the ability to make predictions about their physical counterparts (对应的事物), and adjust themselves based on new information. (所有这些都是由人工智能(AI)的最新进展推动的,这使得数字孪生能够对其物理对应物进行预测,并根据新信息调整自己。)”可知,人工智能使数字孪生能够预测结果并根据新信息自行调整,从而推动了数字孪生的发展。故选C项。 【31题详解】 主旨大意题。通读全文,结合第四段中“Digital twins make it easier for humans to solve challenging problems, allowing people to have a look into the future. For businesses, this should mean better designs and operations. For society, the promise is also fascinating: personalized health care, and ways to prevent the earth from environmental disasters. D Great white sharks have been described as the most violent creature ever since the release of “Jaws” in 1975. A. Uncertain. B. Doubtful. C. Promising. D. Cautious. B 33. C 34. D 35. 根据第一段“But what if instead of one shark appearing, two were working together.(但如果不是出现一条鲨鱼,而是两条鲨鱼一起工作呢?)”和第二段“Scientists say research off Mexico’s Guadalupe Island in the Pacific Ocean shows great white sharks are sociable and will sometimes work together to increase their chances of catching prey.(科学家表示,在太平洋墨西哥瓜达卢佩岛附近进行的研究表明,大白鲨具有社会性,有时会合作捕猎,以增加捕获猎物的机会。)” 根据第四段“A team of scientists from Florida International University created a “super social tag” tracking device to put on the great white sharks. Another that had the tag on for five days was only with two other sharks(数据显示,鲨鱼更喜欢与同性别的个体组成群体,但它们的狩猎方式却各具特色。有一只鲨鱼仅携带标签30小时,期间就与12只其他鲨鱼有过互动。而另一只携带标签长达五天的鲨鱼,则只与另外两只鲨鱼相伴)”可知,有的鲨鱼与12只其他鲨鱼有过互动而有的鲨鱼只与另外两只鲨鱼相伴,可推理出鲨鱼社交的频率各不相同。故选D项。 【35题详解】 推理判断题。根据最后一段“Papastamatiou said there is no clear answer to why white sharks are being social, but it’s probably because if one shark is successful in finding large prey, another will want to know how to have the same success. The sample size is small, but Papastamatiou said the findings give scientists a window into the relationship between sharks. He hopes to develop tracking systems that can be used for weeks, possibly years, to see the development of relationships between sharks(帕帕斯马蒂乌表示,对于为什么大白鲨会表现出社交行为,目前还没有明确的答案,但很可能的原因是,如果一只鲨鱼成功找到了大型猎物,另一只鲨鱼就想知道如何取得同样的成功。 How to Cheer up Your Friend The following tips will make your friend cheer up. 【36题详解】 空格处是本段主题句,根据空后的“If your friend is angry about a situation at work, help her see the positive side of things. Hear out her problem before reacting (回应). But try to help her asking questions such as, “What things can you do to make the situation better?” or “What’s been happening at work lately that’s been good?”(如果你的朋友对工作中的某件事很生气,帮助她看到事情积极的一面。在做出反应之前先听听她的问题。但试着帮助她问一些问题,比如,“你能做些什么来改善情况?”或者“最近工作上发生了什么好事?”)”可知,本段主要说明的是帮助朋友看到事情积极的一面,B选项“Help her to see the positive side(帮助她看到积极的一面)”概括了本段主要内容,可作为主题句。故选B。 【37题详解】 根据第三段的主题句“Send her a card or postcard.(给她寄张卡片或明信片。)”与空前一句“Drop a note in the mail to her.(给她寄封信。)” 【38题详解】 根据该空后的“as they can help her build confidence and self-esteem(因为它们可以帮助她建立自信和自尊)”判断,空格处要说到一些帮助她建立自信和自尊的事情,E项“Don’t be afraid to tell your friend these things(不要害怕告诉你的朋友这些事)”提到要告诉朋友一些事情,其中的“these things”指代前面提到的有关“they are smart, strong, and beautiful”的事情,而告诉朋友这些事情能帮助她建立自信和自尊,与下文构成因果关系。 Try out new things together.(一起尝试新事物)和空后的“If you want your friends to be happy, encourage them to try new things with you.(如果你想让你的朋友开心,鼓励他们和你一起尝试新事物。)” 【40题详解】 根据空前的主题句“Bring her one of her favorite treats.(给她带一个她最喜欢的食物。)”与空后一句“Maybe she can’t live without an afternoon coffee, or maybe she has a special love for black forest cake.(也许她离不开下午的咖啡,也许她对黑森林蛋糕情有独钟。)” Years ago, I was a manager at a now-closed big box store. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】(One possible version) This time I would not hide my desire any more. Determined to follow my heart, I explained to my father how I felt. I told him that I wanted to go to a college to learn to fly instead of being a farmer. After saying this, I waited nervously for his reaction. To my surprise, he approved my request, and he told me he was moved by my perseverance. With his support and my efforts, I was admitted into my ideal college. At the graduation ceremony, with my father present, I, as “Best Pilot”, had to deliver a speech. In my speech, I shared with the audience my story about how a teenager realized his dream. Faced with difficulties, I took a path that led me do something that needed passion, training and practice. I also owed my success to my father’s support. Without his understanding, I couldn’t have pursued my dream. At the end of my speech, I spotted my father’s watery eyes, and said, “Dad, I made it!” His face lit up with pride. 1】In my speech, I shared with the audience my story about how a teenager realized his dream.(运用了how引导的宾语从句) 【高分句型2】Faced with difficulties, I took a path that led me do something that needed passion, training and practice(运用了两个that引导的定语从句) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
