Unit 7 Means of communication-A Getting ready This unit focuses on the theme of "Means of communication". In part A "Getting ready", students are first introduced to a list of words related to communication. By reading and trying to remember these words, students start to activate their prior knowledge about communication methods and related vocabulary. This section aims to lay a vocabulary foundation for the subsequent in - depth study of different means of communication in the unit, including not only traditional ones like letters but also modern digital communication tools. 教学目标 1. Knowledge Objectives Students will be able to recognize and pronounce the key words related to means of communication, such as "mobile phone", "email", "letter", "text message", "telephone call", "video call", etc. Students will understand the basic usage and differences of these means of communication - related vocabulary. 2. Ability Objectives Develop students' ability to quickly memorize and recall relevant vocabulary. Improve students' language - organizing ability when talking about means of communication. 3. Emotional Objectives Stimulate students' interest in learning about different means of communication and their development. Encourage students to actively participate in class discussions and group work, enhancing their cooperation spirit. 教学重难点 1. Key Points The key vocabulary related to means of communication. Make sure students can accurately pronounce, spell and use these words. Guide students to distinguish the characteristics and application scenarios of different means of communication. 2. Difficult Points Helping students understand the cultural connotations and differences behind different means of communication, for example, the different feelings and significance of sending a hand - written letter compared to an email in different cultures. Cultivating students' ability to comprehensively use the learned vocabulary to express their own opinions and experiences about communication. Vocabulary Mobile phone: A portable electronic device that allows people to make and receive calls, send text messages, access the Internet, etc. Email: Short for "electronic mail", a method of sending and receiving messages electronically through the Internet. Letter: A written message sent by post. Text message: A short written message sent between mobile phones. Telephone call: A conversation over the phone. Video call: A call in which people can see each other through a camera, usually via the Internet. Useful Expressions "send an email" "write a letter" "make a telephone call" "send a text message" "have a video call" 教学过程 1. Warming - up (5 minutes) Greet the students as usual. Then show some pictures on the PPT, such as a person talking on the phone, sending a letter at the post office, and chatting on a video call. Ask students: "What are these people doing? Can you name these ways of communication in English?" Encourage students to answer actively. This activity can quickly arouse students' interest and lead them into the topic of this class. 2. Presentation (10 minutes) Present the word list in part A on the PPT. Read the words aloud one by one, and ask students to read after you, paying attention to the pronunciation. For example: "Mobile phone, /ˈməʊbaɪl fəʊn/". Let students repeat several times. Explain the meaning of each word briefly. For the word "email", you can say: "Email is a very convenient way to send messages. We can attach files like pictures or documents in an email." After reading all the words, let students read the words in pairs to practice pronunciation. Walk around the classroom to listen and correct students' pronunciation if necessary. 3. Memory Challenge (10 minutes) In this step, follow the instruction in part A. Let students read the words in the list for 30 seconds. Then ask them to close their books. Give them 2 - 3 minutes to write down as many words as they can remember on a piece of paper. After that, ask several students to share the words they remembered. Write the words on the blackboard. For each word, check if the spelling is correct. If there are any mistakes, correct them together. Compare the number of words different students remembered. Praise the students who remembered more words and encourage those who remembered fewer to work harder. 4. Group Discussion (12 minutes) Divide students into groups of 4 - 5. Give each group a topic for discussion: "Which means of communication do you use most often? And why?" In the group, students take turns to express their opinions. Encourage them to use the vocabulary they just learned, for example: "I use mobile phones most often. Because I can not only make telephone calls but also send text messages and play games on it." Walk around the classroom, listen to students' discussions, and offer help if they have problems expressing their ideas. After 8 - 10 minutes of discussion, ask each group to choose a representative to report the group's discussion results to the whole class. 5. Summary and Homework (8 minutes) Summarize the key words and expressions about means of communication learned in this class. Write them on the blackboard again and let students read them together. Assign homework: Ask students to write a short passage about their favorite means of communication, using at least 5 words from today's word list. Let students search for more information about a new means of communication they are interested in and be ready to share it in the next class. 教学反思 After teaching this class, I have the following reflections: Positive Aspects The warming - up activity was quite effective. By showing vivid pictures, students quickly entered the learning state and were interested in the topic. Most students actively participated in answering questions, which helped to create a good classroom atmosphere. The memory challenge part successfully mobilized students' enthusiasm. They were eager to show their memory ability, and this activity also deepened their impression of the vocabulary. In the group discussion, students actively expressed their opinions, which not only improved their speaking ability but also enhanced their cooperation skills. They were able to use the learned vocabulary in their discussions, achieving the expected language output. Areas for Improvement In the presentation of vocabulary, although I tried to explain the meaning of each word, the way might be a bit monotonous. Next time, I can use more real - life examples or short videos to make the explanation more vivid and easier for students to understand. During the group discussion, some students were still a bit shy and did not fully participate. I need to find more ways to encourage these students to actively join the discussion and build their confidence in speaking English. When summarizing the class, I could have let students do more of the summary work, so as to better check their understanding and memory of the knowledge in this class. In conclusion, based on these reflections, I will adjust my teaching methods and strategies in the subsequent teaching of this unit to better meet the learning needs of students and improve teaching effectiveness. 2 / 37 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
