The World Games (TWG) 2025 will take place in China's Sichuan Province, which is held for the first time in the Chinese mainland. This big sports event for non-Olympic sports will be held from August 7 to August 17. Recently, the torch for the The World Games 2025 Chengdu was shown to the public. It's named "Zhumeng", which means "Bamboo Dream" in Chinese and sounds like "chasing dreams". This is the first-ever torch in TWG's history.
The torch's design is inspired by the Grand Bronze Standing Figure(大立人像) from the Sanxingdui Ruins in Sichuan. Using this figure in the torch design shows the wisdom of Chinese culture's unity in diversity(多样性). The torch looks like both a tall figure and a proud bamboo shoot. In China, bamboo stands for modesty and strength. It is ideal for representing sports because it shows unity, hard work, and health.
As home to giant pandas, Sichuan has lots of bamboo forests, the favorite food of pandas. The top of the torch is shaped like a young bamboo shoot with two buds (芽) stretching out. This represents an open and friendly China welcoming the world. The whole torch looks like a strong bamboo stalk (秆), showing the sports spirit of unity and trying hard.
The torch's nozzle(喷嘴) is like the Sun-shaped Crown worn by the Bronze Standing Figure found at the Jinsha Site in Chengdu. It shows Chengdu's deep culture and gives athletes endless energy, like the sun. It also symbolizes their spirit of wanting to do their best.
At the bottom of the torch, a phoenix-shaped(凤凰形) bird holds it up. This reminds us of an old saying "When a holy bird flies and sings, peace is in the world." It shows China's rich culture and our hope for world peace.
49.What does “Zhumeng” mean?
A. Make dreams. B. Wish someone good dreams.
C. Work hard for one’s dream D. Beautiful dreams.
50. What does the two buds in a young bamboo shoot stand for?
A. Bamboo Dream. B. Modesty and strength.
C. Pandas’ favourite food. D. China is open and friendly.

A. The Grand Bronze Standing Figure is from the Sanxingdui Ruins.
B. The Sun-shaped Crown was found in Sanxingdui Ruins.
C. The torch's nozzle is like the Sun.
D. A phoenix-shaped bird is at the bottom of the torch.
52.What’s the main purpose of the writer to introduce the torch's design in detail?
A. To praise the wonderful design of the torch. B. To spread Chinese culture.
B. To tell readers what is TWG. D. To discuss the importance of bamboo.

In 2025, a quiet "battle" is taking place on our faces. Tech giants are racing to make the best smart glasses—light, AI-powered spectacles that place useful digital information right before our eyes. Unlike earlier AR headsets, these new glasses focus on daily life, offering instant translation, voice help, and hands-free maps.
Market researcher IDC estimates that global shipments will hit 14.5 million units this year, with China’s market growing fastest at 121%. Big brands are joining in. Meta’s Ray-Ban glasses have already sold over one million pairs, letting users snap photos at weddings without pulling out a phone. In China, Xiaomi’s model sold out in hours, and XREAL’s newest design received 26,000 pre-orders in a single day on JD.com.
Behind the boom is better technology. AI engines from Alibaba and Huawei allow natural conversation, while new displays keep the lenses thin—some frames weigh just 45g. Alibaba’s upcoming Quark glasses will even let users swap the battery for all-day power and link directly to Alipay and Taobao. Tiny sensors from companies like Rokid can also track the wearer’s daily steps.
As prices fall and designs get lighter, smart glasses may soon change the way we study, travel, and talk. The race is on, and our view of the world may never be the same.
