教学过程
Warming - up (5 minutes)
Greet the students as usual.
Show some pictures of famous sports stars, such as Michael Jordan (basketball), Serena Williams (tennis), and ask students if they know these people and what sports they are good at. This activity can quickly attract students' attention and lead to the topic of sports.
Presentation (15 minutes)
Use PPT to show pictures of different sports one by one. For each picture, introduce the name of the sport, for example, "Look at this picture. This is badminton. We play badminton with a racket and a shuttlecock." Teach the pronunciation of the new words carefully and let students repeat several times.
After presenting all the main sports, play a short video clip that contains different sports scenes. While playing the video, pause at different moments and ask students to quickly name the sport they see.
Practice (15 minutes)
Vocabulary Drill: Divide students into pairs. One student says the name of a sport, and the other student has to quickly draw a simple picture of it on a piece of paper. Then they switch roles. This activity can help students better remember the words.
Sentence Practice: Give students some prompts, such as their favorite sports, the sports they do on weekends, etc. Let them make sentences using the learned sentence patterns. For example, if the prompt is "your favorite sport", students may say "My favorite sport is swimming. I think it's very cool." Ask several pairs of students to share their sentences with the class.
Production (10 minutes)
Group Work: Divide the class into groups of four or five. Each group is required to create a poster about sports. They need to draw pictures of different sports on the poster and write some simple descriptions next to each picture, such as the name of the sport, where it is usually played, and why they like this sport.
After the groups finish their posters, ask each group to come to the front of the class and introduce their poster. Other students can ask questions if they have any.
Summary and Homework (5 minutes)
Summary: Summarize the new sports vocabulary and sentence patterns learned in this class with the students. Review some key points and correct common mistakes students made during the class.
Homework:
Ask students to write a short passage about their favorite sport, including what the sport is, how often they play it, and why they like it.
Encourage students to search for more information about a sport they are interested in and share it with the class next time.
教学反思
Positive Aspects
The use of pictures and videos in the warming - up and presentation stages effectively attracted students' attention and made the learning process more vivid and interesting. Most students showed great enthusiasm during the class.
The group work of making posters provided students with an opportunity to cooperate with each other. They actively discussed and completed the task, which improved their teamwork ability and English - using ability.
Areas for Improvement
Some students still had difficulty in pronouncing certain sports words correctly, such as "skiing". More time should be allocated to individual pronunciation correction in future classes.
During the production stage, some groups spent too much time on drawing, resulting in relatively simple descriptions. In the next class, more guidance on time management and content organization should be given.
