教学过程
1. Warming - up (5 minutes)
Show students some beautiful pictures of famous travel destinations around the world, such as the Eiffel Tower in France, the Sydney Opera House in Australia, and the Pyramids in Egypt.
Ask students: "Have you ever been to any of these places? Or which one of these would you like to visit? Why?" Encourage several students to share their ideas briefly. This activity aims to arouse students' interest in the topic of travel and activate their prior knowledge.
2. Presentation (10 minutes)
Present the key travel - related vocabulary on the PPT. For each word, show a corresponding picture and example sentence. For example, for the word "flight", show a picture of an airplane and the sentence "I took a direct flight to New York." Teach students how to pronounce each word correctly and let them repeat after the teacher several times.
Then, introduce the important sentence patterns for talking about past travel experiences and future travel plans. Write the sentence patterns on the blackboard and explain the grammar points briefly. For example, when teaching the past tense for travel experiences, remind students to use the past form of the verb. After the explanation, give students some simple substitution exercises. For example, for the sentence "I traveled to Beijing last year.", change "Beijing" to other places like "Shanghai", "Guangzhou", etc., and let students make new sentences.
3. Practice (15 minutes)
Pair Work: Divide students into pairs. Ask each pair to choose one of the following topics: 1. Share your most unforgettable past travel experience. 2. Talk about your future travel plan.
Provide students with a set of guiding questions for each topic. For the past travel experience topic, the questions could be "Where did you go? When did you go there? Who did you go with? What did you do there? How did you feel about the trip?" For the future travel plan topic, the questions could be "Where are you going to travel? When are you going to go? How are you going to get there? Where are you going to stay? What are you going to do there?"
Students in each pair take turns to talk about their chosen topic according to the guiding questions while the other one listens. The listener can ask some follow - up questions. Walk around the classroom to monitor students' conversations and offer help when necessary.
Group Work: After pair work, form groups of four. Each pair in the group shares their conversation content with the other pair. Encourage group members to ask more in - depth questions and have a further discussion. For example, if a student says they plan to travel to a mountain, other group members can ask "Why do you choose a mountain? What kind of preparations do you need to make for a mountain trip?"
4. Production (10 minutes)
Select several groups to come to the front of the classroom and share their most interesting travel experiences or plans with the whole class. Each group can choose one representative to speak, or they can present in a more creative way, such as a dialogue or a short skit.
After each group's presentation, give other students a chance to ask questions or make comments. This activity can not only train students' public speaking ability but also promote communication and interaction among the whole class.
5. Summary and Homework (5 minutes)
Summarize the key vocabulary and sentence patterns learned in this class. Ask students to recall some of the interesting travel stories they heard from their classmates.
Assign homework: Ask students to write a short passage about their dream travel destination. They need to include at least 5 sentences, using the vocabulary and sentence patterns learned in this class. They can also draw a simple picture of their dream destination beside the passage.
教学反思
Positive Aspects
The warming - up activity was effective in attracting students' attention and generating their enthusiasm for the topic. The pictures of famous travel destinations successfully activated their prior knowledge and made them eager to share their own travel - related ideas.
The presentation of vocabulary and sentence patterns was clear. By using pictures and example sentences, students could understand and remember the new knowledge more easily. The substitution exercises also helped students practice using the new language structures in a simple way.
The pair work and group work provided students with sufficient opportunities to practice speaking. Most students actively participated in the conversations, and they seemed to enjoy sharing their travel experiences and plans with their peers. The guiding questions given for each topic helped students organize their thoughts and express themselves more fluently.
The production stage, where groups presented in front of the class, enhanced students' confidence in public speaking. The interaction between presenters and the audience also promoted further communication and learning.
Areas for Improvement
Some students still seemed a bit shy and reluctant to speak during the pair work and group work. In the future, more encouragement and specific guidance should be given to these students to help them overcome their fear of speaking English.
The time for each group's presentation in the production stage was limited, so some groups couldn't fully elaborate on their ideas. Next time, a better time - management strategy should be adopted, such as setting a more accurate time limit for each group and ensuring that they have enough time to prepare before coming to the front.
When students were speaking, some common language errors were noticed, such as incorrect verb tenses and mispronunciations. Although it was not the main focus of this speaking class to correct every error immediately, in the future, more attention could be paid to error correction in a more natural and unobtrusive way, for example, by repeating the correct sentence after the student has finished speaking and asking them to imitate.
