5. aloud, loud 与 loudly的用法:
三个词都与“大声”或“响亮”有关。
(1) aloud 是副词,重点在出声能让人听见,但声音不一定很大,常用于形容读书或说话。通常放在动词之后。aloud没有比较级形式。
如: He read the story to his son. 他大声朗读那篇故事给他儿子听。
(2) loud可作形容词或副词。用作副词时, 常与 speak, talk, laugh等动词连用, 多用于比较级,须放在动词之后。
如: She told us to speak a little . 她让我们说大声一点。
(3) loudly是副词,与 loud同义,有时两者可替换使用,但 loudly往往含有令人讨厌或打扰别人的意思,可位于动词之前或之后。
如: He does not talk loudly or laugh in public. 他不当众大声谈笑。
6. The more you read, the faster you will be. 你读得越多, 你阅读的速度就越快。
“the+比较级, the+比较级”表示“越⋯⋯就越⋯⋯”。
如: you study, grades you will have.
你越努力学习,你的成绩就会越好。
7. The teacher spoke so quickly that I did not understand her most of the time. 老师讲得太快以至于大部分时间我都听不懂。
“so+ adj./ adv. + that”从句表示“如此······以至于······”, 引导结果状语从句。
如: The movie is interesting we want to see it again.
这部电影如此有趣,我们还想再看一遍。
“so that+句子”表示“以便,为了”,引导目的状语从句。
如: I want to learn more new words and more grammar I can have abetter understanding of English movies.
我想学习更多的单词和语法, 以便我能更好地理解英语电影。
8. I discovered that listening to something interesting is the secret to language learning.我发现听有趣的东西是语言学习的秘诀。
the secret to…表示“……的秘诀”。 to是介词, 后接名词、代词或动名词。
pay attention to 中的 to 也是介词。
如: It's also easier for you to pay attention it for a long time.
你也会更容易长时间地关注它。
9. I don't know how to increase my reading speed. 我不知道怎样提高我的阅读速度。
how to increase my reading speed 是“疑问词+动词不定式”作宾语, 相当于宾语从句how I can increase my reading speed。
如: I don't know what to do. =I don't know I should .
我不知道该做什么。
10. … you will forget it unless you use it. 你不用就会忘记。 unless 表示“假如不,除非”,引导条件状语从句。
如:
You will fail you work hard. 假如你不努力就会失败。
I won't write he writes first. 除非他先写, 否则我就不写。
