教学过程
5.1 Lead - in (5 minutes)
Show some pictures about common safety accidents, such as a child getting hurt by hot water, a person catching a cold due to not dressing properly. Then ask students: "What can you see in the pictures? Do you think these situations are dangerous? Why?" Encourage students to express their opinions in English.
5.2 Vocabulary Teaching (10 minutes)
Present the new words and phrases on the PPT one by one. For example, when showing the word "flu", show a picture of a sick person with a runny nose and cough, and explain: "When you have a flu, you may have a high fever, cough, and feel very tired."
After presenting all the words, let students read them aloud together several times to practice pronunciation. Then play a word - matching game. Divide the new words into two columns on the blackboard, one with English words and the other with Chinese meanings. Ask students to come to the blackboard and match them correctly.
5.3 Text Learning (15 minutes)
First, let students listen to the text recording of "Stay Safe" once. While listening, ask them to mark the key information, such as what safety advice is given in the text.
Then, ask students to read the text carefully by themselves and answer some comprehension questions on the PPT, like "What should we do to prevent the flu?", "Why should we stay away from smoking and drinking?"
Explain the important language points in the text. For example, for the sentence "It's necessary for you to learn about first aid.", explain the structure "It's + adj. + for sb. + to do sth." means it is a certain state for someone to do something.
Let students read the text again, this time in pairs. They can discuss any difficult points they still have and try to understand the text more thoroughly.
5.4 Practice (10 minutes)
Oral Practice: Create some safety - related situations, such as a classmate has a toothache, someone wants to swim in a dangerous river. Ask students to work in groups of four. Each group chooses one situation and makes up a dialogue using the learned vocabulary and sentence patterns to give advice. Then invite some groups to come to the front of the class and act out their dialogues.
Written Practice: Give students a short passage with some blanks. The blanks should be filled with the correct forms of the new words or the appropriate sentence patterns learned. For example: "You ____ (should) eat too much junk food. It's bad for your health. It's necessary for you ____ (drink) enough water every day." Let students complete the passage individually and then check the answers together.
5.5 Summary and Homework (5 minutes)
Summary: Summarize the key points of this lesson with students, including the important vocabulary, sentence patterns, and the main safety knowledge. Ask students to recall and share what they have learned in this lesson.
Homework:
Ask students to write a short passage about "How to Stay Safe at School", using at least five safety - related words and three sentence patterns learned in this lesson.
Encourage students to share the safety knowledge they learned in class with their family members at home.
教学反思
After this class, overall, students showed a relatively high level of enthusiasm. The lead - in part successfully attracted their attention and made them actively participate in the discussion. However, in the vocabulary teaching process, some students still had difficulty in pronouncing words like "crowded" correctly. More individual pronunciation guidance should be provided in future classes.
During the text learning, most students could understand the main idea of the text, but when it came to analyzing some complex sentence structures, a few students seemed confused. Maybe more examples and detailed explanations are needed.
In the practice section, students were very active in the oral practice. They could create vivid dialogues. But in the written practice, some students made mistakes in the usage of verb forms and sentence patterns. This indicates that more written exercises and error - correction activities are required to strengthen their understanding and application.
In general, this lesson achieved most of the teaching objectives, but there are still areas that need improvement to better meet the learning needs of all students.
