Unit 3 Better you, better me Lesson 4 Be happy with yourself! 教学设计 I. Teaching Objectives 1. Knowledge Objectives Students will master vocabulary related to self - acceptance and personal growth (e.g., strong points, weak points, average grades, mistakes, self - acceptance) and understand the emails about self - doubt and advice on being happy with oneself. Students will be able to comprehend the emails, complete tables, identify factors keeping people from happiness, match tips with details, and participate in writing games. 2. Ability Objectives Improve reading and writing skills: Extract information from emails to complete tasks and write letters about self - acceptance. Enhance speaking and collaborative skills: Discuss factors affecting happiness and share ideas in group writing games. 3. Affective Objectives Help students develop a positive self - image, understand that everyone has strengths and weaknesses, and encourage them to accept and be happy with themselves. II. Language Knowledge 1. Key Vocabulary & Phrases Self - acceptance - related words: strong points, weak points, average grades, mistakes Key phrases: be happy with oneself, be hard on oneself, learn from mistakes 2. Key Sentence Patterns Talking about self - doubt: “There’s nothing special about me.” “I get average grades in all my subjects except English.” “I want to be like her, but I know that’s impossible. Teaching Procedures Step 1: Warm - up & Lead - in Activity: Self - Reflection Discussion Ask students two questions: “What are your strong points and weak points?”, “Are you happy with yourself?”. Let students share their answers. Step 2: Reading & Comprehension Activity 1: Email Reading and Table Completion Have students read the emails and complete the table with problems and corresponding advice. Check answers to ensure students grasp the main content of the emails. Activity 2: Identifying Happiness Barriers Ask students to think about what keeps people from being happy and tick the relevant options (feeling bad about our abilities, trying to be a perfect person, being socially anxious, etc.). Step 3: Tip Matching & Writing Game Activity 1: Tip - Detail Matching Guide students to match each tip on how to be yourself (Stop caring about what others think of you, Relax, Find yourself, Learn to love yourself) with its details. Activity 2: Writing Game Divide students into groups. Ask each group to write a letter to Sue about what keeps them from being happy with themselves. Shuffle the letters, trade with other groups, and then have students suppose they are Sue and write letters back. Step 4: Discussion & Sharing Activity: Self - Acceptance Sharing Ask students to share the letters they received and the advice they wrote back. Then discuss the importance of being happy with oneself. Step 5: Summary & Homework Activity 1: Lesson Summary Recap key vocabulary and phrases (self - acceptance - related terms), the content of the emails about self - doubt and advice, and the tips on being oneself. Activity 2: Homework Assignment Assign homework: (1) Write a reflection about what you learned today about being happy with yourself.
