Ⅳ.Grammar: using although / though （1）although/though 作连词 ，意为“尽管，虽然，”用来引导让步状语从句，一般位于句首或句中，它所引导的从句不能与并列连词but，and，so等连用，但可与yet，still等连用。 Although it was expensive, we still decided to buy it. Though we only stayed there for a few days, we had a good time. （2）though除了做连词外，还可以做副词，意为“可是，然而” 但although不可以。 【辨析】although和though意为“尽管，即使”一般情况下可以互换使用，只是though较为普遍，常用于非正式的口语或书面语中，而although较为正式，另外although语气比though重强调让步概念。 although和though引导让步状语从句时候，常采用省略形式 although tired(=Although he was tired),he kept on working The problem, though complicated(=though is complicated),can be solved without much difficulty. 【注意】even能和though组合表示强调，但even不能和although组合， Even if/Even though we could afford it, we wouldn’t go abroad for our vacation. though可以独立用作副词，常放在句末。 She didn’t tell me what she had done, but I know it though. It was hard work, I enjoyed it, though. using so..that and such..that so…that与such…that都可以用来引导结果状语从句，意为“如此…以至于…” （1）such…that句型结构可分为以下三种： ① such+a（n）+adj.+可数名词单数+that从句 She is such a good teacher that all of us love and respect her. ② such+adj.+可数名词复数+that从句 They are such interesting books that I want to read them once more. ③such+adj.+不可数名词+that 从句 It was such bad weather that I had to stay at home. （2）so是副词，与形容词或副词连用，结构：so+adj/adv+that从句。 He ran so fast that I couldn’t catch up with him. I am so sleepy that I can hardly keep my eyes open. 【注意】当名词前有many, much, few, little,等表示数量多少的限定词时，应该用so，而不能用such。 There were so many people in the street watching the fire that firemen could not get close to the building. 当单数名词前有形容词时，既可以用so，也可用such，但是不定冠词的位置有所不同。 This is such an important meeting that you should attend it. =This is so important a meeting that you should attend it. using so that so that 为了，以便，引导目的状语从句，此时可与in order that换用，从句谓语前常用情态动词，may/might can/could should, would等。 1. They drank tea with a snack around 4 pm to avoid feeling hungry between lunch and dinner. 2. I could not find a space to park my car. park v. 停车 She parked her car on the side of the road. park c.n. 公园，专用区 car park 3. the film had already been on for 15 minutes 非延续性动词与延续性动词或表状态的词语的转换 be on 此处表示状态，可以与时间段 for 15 minutes连用。表示状态的词语和延续性动词可与表示一段时间的状语连用，而非延续性动词不能与表示一段时间的状语连用。非延续性动词若要与表示持续—段时间的状语连用，通常用意义相当的延续性动词或表示状态的词语来替换。 He has been dead for three years. He has been here for five days. 4. Many people were amazed by her beauty. amazed adj. 大为惊奇 be amazed at 对……感到惊讶 I am amazed at the music video. How do you feel about…？ 5.Neither do I. neither/nor + be/情态动词/助动词 + 主语 意为“也不”，表示前面否定的情况也适合后者。 ---I don’t like this dress.---Neither/nor do I. so + be/情态动词/助动词+主语 意为“也是如此”，前者和后者都表达肯定的观点。 If she goes there, so shall I. neither adv. 也不 If you don't go there, neither will I. 限定词，两者都不，与单数名词连用。 The student wrote down two words on the blackboard.
