What I want to change about myself most is my attitude (态度) toward life.Sometimes, I take things too seriously. Once, I thought I did badly in an exam. I became very sad and lost confidence in any other exam. It turned out it was not as bad as I thought.I wish I could be happier about everything!
Li Jing
I want to change my bad temper (脾气) most. I get angry too easily, and hurt the people I love. For example, when my mom cares about me, I often complain she talks too much. Sometimes, I even fight with her. But deep down, I know she loves me a lot. I shouldn’t behave like that. I really want to work on my temper and be kinder to the people I love.
Wang Di
The only thing I am not pleased with about myself is my teeth. My front teeth are so big that they almost look like buckteeth (龅牙). When I take photos, I avoid giving big smiles. I am also afraid that my classmates will laugh at me. If I had smaller teeth like other people, I would be very happy.

Dear future Linda (or rather myself),
I hope when you read this letter you don’t find my writing too messy! At the moment, I’m 15 years old and living at home with my family. I love school and have lots of good friends. We do lots of fun things together like parties, ice skating and swimming. My biggest worry is not doing well in my school exams, but I’m working really hard, so hopefully I have nothing to worry about.
There’s so much I (you!) want to do. I hope you’ve traveled all over the world, seen lots of things and met lots of people. I hope you’ve visited the Great Wall in China and the pyramids in Egypt, shopped in New York City and in Paris, and seen polar bears in Norway and the Great Barrier Reef in Australia, I’ve just remembered, you always wanted to see elephants in India—I hope you’ve managed to do that, too.
I promise myself I’ll always try my best and have no regrets. I never want to forget where every step of my life has taken me. Already it seems as if so much has happened. I’ve moved from primary to junior middle school (about to graduate), been taught to swim and dance (I love ballet dancing), learned to speak Chinese and French, and raised money for those in need by selling old toys and books.
I really hope you’re happy. I hope you have a successful career that you enjoy doing and look forward to each morning when you wake up. I hope you’re surrounded by good friends and family and maybe also have a family of your own. More than anything else, I hope you’ve enjoyed every single moment so far!

Dear Victor,
I have received your loving letter from school and I am glad to know that you are becoming responsible (有责任的) enough to decide on your career.
You are now in the final year of high school and are going to start further education in college. You know that we belong to different times, and my social life is different from yours. However, all I can say as advice is that you must choose a career wisely. The first consideration is your interest. You can only succeed and feel happy when you do something you enjoy. You must get a job which not only provides you with something useful, but also you are pleased with. Then, you must read a lot in the field you are aiming at. Also, you should get to know the men and women who work in that field. When mind and heart work together, success is inevitable.
No career is more or less important. I think your interest may be in the field of making TV programmes. Your good communication skills, your taking an active part in school plays and the prizes you have won in speech competitions all lead you to that direction. So a career in Mass Communication and TV Film Production will bring luck to you. If you succeed in that field, you will become famous and rich.
Think a thousand times before making any final decision about your career. After all, we want you to be a man of success.
We all know that you are old enough to think for yourself. With all the best wishes!
Your loving father

In his early working days, what he met was more difficult than expected. He got up at 6 a.m. to help with morning tasks. He provided full bedside care, especially for the elderly who had to stay in bed all the time. Often, his day didn’t end until 11 p.m. He wanted to quit at first, but after a period, the warmth and trust he received from the elderly changed his mind.
Using his medical knowledge, Chen Sheng takes care of the elderly in a proper way, including physical examination, health guidance, advice on food and so on. “I arrived at the nursing home with lots of illnesses and could only lie in bed.
