五、Teaching Procedures

Step 1: Warm-up

- Greet the students.

- Ask the "THINK ABOUT IT" questions: "In your opinion, what makes a hero? Who is your hero? What do you know about him/her?" Let students share their answers.

Step 2: Pre-reading 

- Teach new words: "crossword puzzle", "based on", "favourite" using simple explanations and examples.

A crossword puzzle is a game with words.

If something is based on facts, it comes from facts.

His hero wouldn’t be anybody famous.

Step 3: While-reading

Fast reading: Ask students to read the two letters quickly and find out who wrote the letters and what they are mainly about.

Careful reading:

- Read Li Ming's letter carefully and ask:  

What did Ms. Liu ask students to do?

 Who is Li Ming's hero about?

- Read Danny's letter carefully and ask:

What did Danny do with the puzzle?
