As the birthplace of kites in the world, Weifang, Shandong province of China, produces beautiful, vivid, colorful and high-quality kites. Now, more than 70% of kites in the world are exported from Weifang. If you want to see various shapes and sizes of kites covering the sky, you cannot miss the Weifang Kite Festival held on the third Saturday of every April. But this year, tens of thousands of Chinese participants gathered in Weifang, from Sept 26 to 29 for the 37th International Kite Festival. Held since 1984, the International Kite Festival is an annual event to “exhibit the excellence of the kite lovers to the public,” according to the festival's website. During the festival, kite lovers can enjoy stunt (特技表演) kite flying, also known as aerial ballet. Controlled by either a single person or a group, the kites form different shapes in the air. People always devote a lot of time and wisdom to making their own kites. From animals that crawl (爬行) on the ground or swim in the water to legends like Monkey King, everything can fly in the sky at the festival. One of this year's highlights was the giant kites decorated with images of medical staff and the Long March 5 rocket, which reflect the hot topics this year. “Flying a kite is like flying your dream. All the cultural symbols from ancient and modern times can be found in the sky of Weifang,” noted Medium. After more than three decades of development, the festival has become a place to appreciate kites. But most importantly, it serves as a unique cultural event to promote international exchange. 24. What does the text mainly talk about? A. A kite festival. B. A kite birthplace. C. The future of kites. D. Kite performances. 25. For what purpose is the kite festival held every year? A. To enjoy animals flying in the air. B. To show kite-lovers' brilliance. C. To perform specialized kite flying. D. To enhance Weifang's global impact. 26. What can be known from Paragraph 3? A. It takes a lot of trouble to make a kite. B. Stunt kite flying is the only highlight. C. Imagination can be shown in the kite. D. Decorations matter least in the show. 27. What is the most important role the festival plays? A. It helps organize an international event. B It offers tips on how to appreciate kites. C. It helps make the place known worldwide. D. It enhances international cultural exchange. For many parents, raising a teenager is like fighting a long war, but years go by without any clear winner. Like a border conflict between neighbouring countries, the parent teen war is about boundaries: Where is the line between what I control and what you do? Both sides want peace, but neither feels it has any power to stop the conflict. In part, this is because neither is willing to admit any responsibility for starting it. From the parents’ point of view, the only cause of their fight is their adolescents’ complete unreasonableness. And of course, the teens see it in exactly the same way, except oppositely. Both feel trapped. In this article, I’ll describe three no win situations that commonly arise between teens and parents and then suggest some ways out of the trap. The first no win situation is quarrels over unimportant things. Examples include the colour of the teen’s hair, the cleanliness of the bedroom, the preferred style of clothing, the child’s failure to eat a good breakfast before school, or his tendency to sleep until noon on the weekends. Second, blaming. The goal of a blaming battle is to make the other admit that his bad attitude is the reason why everything goes wrong. Third, needing to be right. It doesn’t matter what the topic is — politics, the laws of physics, or the proper way to break an egg — the point of these arguments is to prove that you are right and the other person is wrong, for both wish to be considered an authority — someone who actually knows something —and therefore to command respect. Unfortunately, as long as parents and teens continue to assume that they know more than the other, they’ll continue to fight these battles forever and never make any real progress. 28. Why does the author compare the parent teen war to a border conflict? A. Both can continue for generations. B. Both are about where to draw the line. C. Neither has any clear winner. D. Neither can be put to an end. 29. What does the underlined part in Paragraph 2 mean? A. The teens accuse their parents of misleading them. B. The teens blame their parents for starting the conflict. C. The teens tend to have a full understanding of their parents. D. The teens agree with their parents on the cause of the conflict. 30. Why do parents and teens want to be right? A. To give orders to the other. B. To know more than the other. C. To gain respect from the other. D. To get the other to behave properly. 31. What will the author most probably discuss in the paragraph that follows? A. Solutions to the parent teen problems. B. Examples of the parent teen war. C. Causes of the parent teen conflicts. D. Future of the parent teen relationship. Staying positive through the cold season could be your best defense against getting sick, a new American study suggests. In an experiment that exposed healthy volunteers to a cold or flu virus, researchers found that people with a generally sunny character were less likely to fail ill. The findings, published in the journal Psychosomatic Medicine, build on evidence that a “positive emotional style” can help ward off the common cold and other illness. “People with a positive emotional style may have different immune(免疫的)responses to the virus,” explained lead study author Dr Sheldon Cohen of Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh. “And when they do get a cold, they may interpret their illness as being less severe.” Cohen and his colleagues has found in a previous study that happier people seemed less likely to catch a cold, but some questions remained as to whether the emotional quality itself had the effect. For the new study, the researchers had 193 healthy adults complete standard measures of personality qualities, physicals health and “emotional style”. Those who tended to be happy, energetic and easy–going were judged as having a positive emotional style, while those who were often unhappy, tense and hostile(敌意的)had a negative style. Afterwards, the researchers gave them nose drops containing either a cold virus or a particular flu virus that causes flu-like symptoms. Over the next six days, the volunteers reported on any aches, pains, sneezing they had. Cohen and his colleagues found that happy people were less likely to develop a cold. What`s more, when happy folks did develop a cold, their symptoms were less severe than expected based on objective measures. In contrast people with negative characters were not at increased risk of developing a cold based on objective measures, though they did tend to get down about their symptoms. “We find that it`s really positive emotions that have the big effect,” Cohen said, “not the negative ones.” So can a bad-tempered person fight a cold by deciding to be happy? 32. What does the underlined phrase "ward off" in paragraph 3 mean? A. Get close to. B. Keep away from. C. Get used to. D. Go on with. 33. What was the purpose of Cohen's new study? A. To find effective ways to fight illnesses. B. To test people's different immune responses to cold virus. C. To tell differences between happy people and unhappy people. D. To examine whether health was related to emotional styles, 34. How did Cohen reach his conclusion? A. By comparing different experimental results. B. By asking the volunteers to complete n form. C. By collecting data among people with n cold. D. By observing the volunteers' symptoms. 35. What can we conclude from the text? A. Success is the twin of positive spirits. B. We get more by being more positive. C. The happier we are, the fewer colds we will suffer. D. Physical health is more important than mental health. How we feel about ourselves can influence how we live our lives.____36____They're more likely to ask for help and support from friends and family when they need it. After a short pause, she excitedly announced, “You got the fifth question right!” Shrugging(耸) my shoulders, I replied, “Yeah, but the rest are probably wrong.” Mom lifted my chin with a gentle hand and said, “That you got some answers wrong doesn’t make the answer you got right any less impressive!” As we stood in silence, she lightly held my shoulders and slowly turned me so I could see myself in the large mirror. “Now repeat after me!” Mom said in a kind but demanding voice, “I DID IT!” She stopped as she waited for me to follow her. With a reassuring hand on my shoulder, Mom said, “You know that I went through, and still go through the same hardships. During the festival kite lovers can enjoy stunt (特技表演) kite flying, also known as aerial ballet. 24. B. It offers tips on how to appreciate kites. C. It helps make the place known worldwide. D. It enhances international cultural exchange. 【答案】24. A 25. B 26. C 27. D 【解析】 【分析】这是一篇说明文。文章介绍了潍坊的国际风筝节。 【24题详解】 主旨大意题。根据第一段中“ If you want to see various shapes and sizes of kites covering the sky, you cannot miss the Weifang Kite Festival held on the third Saturday of every April.(如果你想看到各种形状和大小的风筝覆盖天空,你不能错过每年四月的第三个星期六举行的潍坊风筝节。)”可知,这篇文章主要介绍了潍坊的风筝节。故选A项。 【25题详解】 细节理解题。根据第二段中“Held since 1984, the International Kite Festival is an annual event to “exhibit the excellence of the kite lovers to the public,” according to the festival's website.(据国际风筝节网站介绍,自1984年以来,国际风筝节每年举行一次,目的是“向公众展示风筝爱好者的卓越才能”。)”可知,每年举行风筝节的目的是展示风筝爱好者的才能。故选B项。 【26题详解】 推理判断题。根据第三段中“People always devote a lot of time and wisdom to making their own kites. (人们总是投入大量的时间和智慧来制作他们自己的风筝。)”可知,想象力可以在风筝上表现出来。故选C项。 【27题详解】 细节理解题。根据最后一段中“But most importantly, it serves as a unique cultural event to promote international exchange.(但最重要的是,它是促进国际交流的独特文化活动。)”可知,这个节日最重要的作用是它促进了国际文化交流。故选D项。 For many parents, raising a teenager is like fighting a long war, but years go by without any clear winner. 【答案】28. B 29. B 30. C 31. A 【解析】 【导语】本文是一篇议论文。文章主要论述了父母与青少年之间的矛盾冲突及常见的三种情况。 【28题详解】 推理判断题。根据第一段的“Like a border conflict between neighbouring countries, the parent teen war is about boundaries: Where is the line between what I control and what you do?(就像邻国之间的边境冲突一样,父母与青少年之间的战争是关于界限的:在我能控制的事情和你所做的事情之间的界限在哪里呢?)”可推知,作者把父母与青少年之间的战争比作边境冲突是因为两者都关乎界限在哪里,也就是在哪里划线的问题。故选B。 【29题详解】 词句猜测题。根据第二段的“From the parents’ point of view, the only cause of their fight is their adolescents’ complete unreasonableness. (从父母的角度来看,他们争吵的唯一原因是他们的青少年完全不讲道理)”以及“Both feel trapped.(双方都觉得陷入了困境)”可知,双方陷入了困境的原因是父母认为是青少年的原因导致冲突,而青少年则认为是父母的原因导致冲突,所以划线部分意思是 “青少年指责他们的父母引发了冲突”。故选B。 【30题详解】 细节理解题。根据第三段的“Third, needing to be right. It doesn’t matter what the topic is — politics, the laws of physics, or the proper way to break an egg — the point of these arguments is to prove that you are right and the other person is wrong, for both wish to be considered an authority — someone who actually knows something —and therefore to command respect.(第三,需要证明自己是对的。无论话题是什么——政治、物理定律,还是打鸡蛋的正确方法——这些争论的重点是证明你是对的,而对方是错的,因为双方都希望被视为权威——一个真正懂点东西的人——从而赢得尊重)”可知,父母和青少年都想证明自己是对的是为了赢得对方的尊重。故选C。 【31题详解】 推理判断题。根据第三段的“In this article, I’ll describe three no win situations that commonly arise between teens and parents and then suggest some ways out of the trap.(在这篇文章中,我将描述三种通常出现在青少年和父母之间的两败俱伤的情况,然后提出一些摆脱困境的方法)”以及后面描述了三种情况可知,接下来作者很可能会讨论解决父母与青少年问题的方法。故选A。 Staying positive through the cold season could be your best defense against getting sick, a new American study suggests. In contrast, people with negative characters were not at increased risk of developing a cold based on objective measures, though they did tend to get down about their symptoms. 【答案】32. B 33. D 34. A 35. C 【解析】 【分析】这是一篇议论文。文章提出,在寒冷的季节保持积极的心态可能是你预防生病的最好方法,并通过实验研究的方式来证明这一观点。 【32题详解】 词义猜测题。A. Get close to.靠近,接近;B. Keep away from.远离;C. Get used to.习惯于;D. Go on with.继续。根据文章第一句“Staying positive through the cold season could be your best defense against getting sick(在寒冷的季节保持积极的心态可能是你预防生病的最好方法,)”可知,积极的心态可以让人少生病,划线词所在句子“that a “positive emotional style” can help ward off the common cold and other illness.( “积极情绪”有助于ward off感冒和其他疾病。”的主语是a positive emotional style,宾语是the common cold and other illness,可推断,该句中的ward off意为:远离,故选B项。 【33题详解】 推理判断题。根据倒数第二段中Cohen 所说的话“We find that it`s really positive emotions that have the big effect(我们发现积极的情绪有很大的影响)”可推断,他们做这项研究的目的就是为了检查健康是否与情绪类型有关。故选D项。 【34题详解】 推理判断题。根据倒数第五段中“Cohen and his colleagues found that happy people were less likely to develop a cold.(科恩和他的同事们发现,快乐的人不容易患感冒。)”和倒数第四段“What`s more, when happy folks did develop a cold, their symptoms were less severe than expected based on objective measures.(更重要的是,当快乐的人们真的患了感冒时,根据客观测量他们的症状比预期的要轻。)”可知,他们观察到了快乐的人们对感冒的反应;又根据倒数第三段“In contrast, people with negative characters were not at increased risk of developing a cold based on objective measures, though they did tend to get down about their symptoms.(相比之下,根据客观测量,性格消极的人患感冒的风险并不会增加,尽管他们确实倾向于对自己的症状表达不满。)” How we feel about ourselves can influence how we live our lives.____36____They're more likely to ask for help and support from friends and family when they need it. Each day, write down three things about yourself that make you happy. 【答案】36. F 37. C 38. G 39. E 40. A 【解析】 【分析】这是一篇说明文。文章指出:我们对自己的感觉会影响我们生活的方式,并详细给出了关于如何提高自尊心的具体方法。 【36题详解】 前文说“How we feel about ourselves can influence how we live our lives.(我们对自己的感觉会影响我们生活的方式。)”,按照逻辑,设空处应进一步举例说明自我感觉影响生活方式。而F项“People with good self-esteem have better relationships.(自尊心强的人人际关系更好。)”是前文“自我感觉能影响生活方式”这一观点的具体体现,符合行文逻辑。故选F项。 【37题详解】 上文“Having good self-esteem(自尊心)allows you to accept yourself and live life to the fullest.(拥有良好的自尊可以让你接受自己,并充分地享受生活。)”指出了拥有良好自尊心的好处,下文“If you want to improve your self-esteem, here are some steps(如果你想提高你的自尊心,这里有一些步骤)”即将给出提高自尊心的具体建议,显然,为了上下文连贯,设空处需填入“如何提高自尊心”这样的过渡句来承上启下,选项C“你如何提高你的自尊心?”符合文意,故选C项。 【38题详解】 该段中心句是“Try to stop thinking negative thoughts about yourself.(试着停止对自己消极想法。)” 【40题详解】 设空处为本段主旨句,后文“Tutor a classmate who's having trouble, help clean up your neighborhood, or volunteer your time in some other way.(辅导有困难的同学,帮助打扫邻里,或以其他方式贡献你的时间。)”都是关于帮助别人的具体做法,而这些做法都属于“为别人做贡献”,所以A项“做贡献”最能概括全段内容。故选A项。 第三部分 语言运用(共两节,满分30分) 第一节(共15小题;每小题1分,满分15分) 阅读下面短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。 Last night my husband and I were walking in a nearby parking lot, when we saw a man bent over on the ground, crushing something with a rock. I was standing in my mom’s bedroom with my unfinished math homework in my hand. “I can’t do it, Mom. I don’t understand it!” Although I couldn’t see clearly through my teary eyes, I could still sense my mom’s face was filled with concern. “Can I see your homework, honey?” As instructed, I slowly handed over the paper. But I know I’m competent, smart and successful and it’s so important that my daughter knows how intelligent she is. Now, let’s take a look at your homework.” Together we looked through and completed the math homework. After each problem we got right, we would high-five as if I had just won a huge victory. “Now, tomorrow when you are doing your math, I want you to take the problems one at a time and say ‘I DID IT!’ after completing each one. OK?” said Mom. “OK, I’ll try,” I replied. 注意:1.续写词数应为150个左右; 2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 The next day, I sat at my desk in front of my frightening math test. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ As I walked through the school gate, I had a smile on my face. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 The next day, I sat at my desk in front of my frightening math test. I took a deep breath and tried my best to keep calm. I blocked out every problem except the one at the top of my sheet. With my mom’s words ringing in my ears, I focused on one single question each time. Then I simply moved on to the next question, and the next, until eventually I said “I DID IT!” so many times that I couldn’t help but believe that I had actually done something great! In the end, I handed in my test paper with a sigh of relief. As I walked through the school gate, I had a smile on my face. When Mom came to greet me with her usual hug, I raised my hands above my head in the champion’s pose, and with a new-found confidence I announced, “I DID IT!” My mom and I both exchanged excited high-fives. Did I get all the questions on my math test right? The answer wasn’t the point. The point was that I not only did my best, but I was able to congratulate myself for doing the best I could do! Thanks to my mom’s encouragement, without which I wouldn’t have made such great progress. 排除:block out/shut out ②.在我耳边回响:with…ringing in my ears/with…echoed in my ears ③.松了口气:with a sigh of relief/in relief 情绪类 ①.令人害怕的:frightening/terrifying ②.兴奋的:excited/thrilled 【点睛】[高分句型1].
