(2025·安徽阜阳·一模)There are many colors in nature. But do you know that the color has weight? If you don’t believe it, we can do a small experiment.
Firstly, put two objects which are of the same weight into two boxes. Then cover the boxes.Thirdly, wrap (包裹) one box with a red piece of paper, and the other one with a white piece of paper. Lastly, hold the boxes. It is probably that you will think the red one is a little heavier.
A scientist found that different colors have different weights in people’s mind. The scientists tell us that colors also have smell. Can people really smell the color? Of course not. Then why do the scientists say so? That is because every color stands for a kind of light with a certain wavelength (波长). It reaches our brain through sense organs (感觉器官).
According to this discovery, people accept the colors they like, and refuse the colors they hate. And your body and mind will be healthy by using the colors you like. For example, if you like blue and hate red, after you stay in a room with red walls and furniture (家具) for two hours, you’ll feel you have been there for four hours. But if the room is blue, you’ll feel you have been there for only one hour. And if you walk out of a blue room and into a red room, your temperature will rise. That means your body temperature will change according to different colors. So, choose the color you like!
1.How many steps does the small experiment need?
A.Two. B.Three. C.Four. D.Five.
2.What can we learn from the last paragraph?
A.We should use the color we like to make ourselves healthy.
B.We should use more red things to make ourselves happy.

(2025·广东东莞·三模)Why are there colors? How do they influence the lives of animals and plants around us?
Color is widely used in the animal world. You can see bright colors like red, yellow, orange, blue and purple. It doesn’t just make them look colorful. Instead, it’s a useful way for animals to communicate. For example, some birds show their colorful tails to catch their partners’ attention. Some dangerous snakes use bright colors as a warning to others.
A recent study about colors came out in November, 2024. It tried to find out the function of bright colors in animals and plants.
The study found that bright colors mainly serve as a warning in animal worlds. They use the colors to tell their enemies to stay away from them.
Colors also play an important role in the plant world. Bright colors in plants have two main functions—to spread pollen (花粉) and to spread seeds (种子).
Also, according to the study, animals got their colors 150 million years earlier than plants. ____▲____
However, in the past few years, humans have cut down thousands of millions of trees. What’s worse, human activities have brought serious pollution to the environment. They are destroying (破坏) animals’ homes, and changing their ways of using and showing colors. Once animals could perfectly hide in environments, but now they face challenges. Also, as the earth is getting warmer, the colors of many animals become lighter (更浅的). And the number of dark-colored animals is expected to drop.
It’s important for us to take action and protect animals’ homes now.

(2025·广东深圳·模拟预测)From red apples and yellow lemons to green melons, fruit comes in many different colors. Why do different kinds of fruit have so many colors? According to Lu Wei from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, fruit colors actually come from their different pigments (色素), such as red or yellow carotenoid (类胡萝卜素) and blue or purple anthocyanin (花青素). These pigments appear in different amounts, depending on the fruit's environment. This causes the fruit to turn a certain color.
To find out how the environment affects fruit colors, Chinese scientists studied more than 280 different fruit colors. They found that red fruit tends to grow in cooler places. And instead of just growing in one place, you can find them growing in many places around the world. Blue and purple fruit mostly grow in warm places. These fruits tend to grow a lot in just one specific area. The scientists also found that the closer the fruit is to the equator (赤道), the darker its color will be.
Animals have also had an impact on the evolution (进化) of fruit colors. Animals eat fruit in one place and drop the seeds in other places later. This helps the fruit spread and grow in different places. Therefore, to attract animals, some fruit develops colors that are easy for animals to see. However, animals see colors differently. For example, birds can see red more easily than other colors. Therefore, there is more red fruit in areas where birds live. The lemurs (狐猴) of Madagascar are red-green color blind. Many yellow fruits can be found there, as they can easily see this color.
1.According to Paragraph 1, ______ causes fruit to have different colors.
A.pigments B.sunlight C.water D.the environment where fruits grow
2.What can we learn from Paragraph 2?
A.Red apples can be easily found in warmer places.
B.Blueberries mostly grow in cooler places.
C.We can probably find purple grapes in warmer places.
D.Dark fruit grows far away from the equator.
3.How do animals spread seeds to different places?
A.They carry seeds with them when they are travelling.
B.They help grow seeds in different places.
C.They eat fruit in one place and drop the seeds to other places.
D.They eat different seeds in different places.
4.Why does some fruit develop different colors?
A.It wants to protect themselves from being eaten by animals.
B.It would like to grow better and more beautiful.
C.It wants to attract animals.
D.It hopes to scare people away.
5.Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage?
A.Red fruit grows in just one specific area.
B.Blue and purple fruit tends to grown in many places around the world.

(2025·广东深圳·模拟预测)If you go shopping in any toy store, you can see clearly the different games and toys for boys and girls: there are a lot of pink toys on one side of the store for girls, and dark colored cars, guns, and soldiers for boys. Some big stores with toys may even have a pink floor for girls and a blue floor for boys. In fact, it is difficult to buy a toy for a girl that is not pink.
Some people think that too much pink is bad for girls. Sue Palmer, writer of Toxic Childhood, is very worried that most girls over the age of three are crazy about the color. According to some scientists, this happens for two reasons. Firstly, most companies offer too many products in pink. Also, many parents think their little daughter looks cute in pink. Sue Palmer says that girls at this age cannot make proper decisions by themselves, but the pink can affect the choices and the decisions they will make in the future.
Some parents are worried too—for example, Vanessa Holburn, thirty-two, who has two girls under the age of four. Their bedrooms are a sea of pink and Vanessa is not happy. “Pink says that you are soft and gentle. Blue says that you are strong and powerful. I want my daughters to be strong and powerful. I’m worried that pink will not help them with that.” she says.
But not everyone thinks there’s something wrong with pink. Grayson Turner is a father of three girls and he isn’t worried at all. “People forget that things change all the time. He says, “My girls used to love pink when they were little, but as they get older, they change.” Turner explains that his twelve-year-old daughter never wears pink clothes any more. “This love of pink is just a fashion and all fashions change.” he adds. “It’s only since the 1940s that people have started dressing girls in pink—before that it was a color for boys”

Sam loved painting. Once, his mother told him, “Red, blue and yellow are ‘primary colors’. They can be used to make other colors.”
He used crayons to have a try. He found: Red+Blue→Purple, Blue+Yellow→Green, Red+ Blue+Yellow→Black. He thought his mother was right!
But after Monday’s science class, he was confused. He said to his mom, “Why does Ms. Jeffers say the light’s primary colors are red, blue and green? She mixed red light and green light to make yellow light, and all three lights made white light!”
“Take a clean piece of paper and a glass. I’ll show you,” Mom said.
Sam followed. “OK, Sam. Put the paper down and hold the glass to catch the sunlight. What can you see?”
“A little rainbow!” Sam was surprised.
“Yes! Sunlight has all colors. The glass splits white light into a rainbow,” Mom explained. “Ms. Jeffers put those different colors of light back together to make white. Light works by adding colors— mixing makes colors brighter.”
Then Mom drew a red spot under the piece of white paper where the rainbow showed. “What col-or is the spot?”
“Red.”
Mom explained, “Paints work by absorbing (吸收) light. The red absorbs all other colors of light except red, so only red light will be reflected back to your eyes. That’s why you see the red color. ”
“Wow, this is amazing! So light and paints actually do work differently,” Sam said excitedly.

(2025·河南郑州·二模)Have you ever worn a bright red shirt and felt more energetic? Or put on a soft blue sweater and felt calmer? This might be related to a popular trend (趋势) called “dopamine (多巴胺) dressing”. Let’s try to find out what it is and whether there is science support behind it.
Dopamine dressing comes from a book by American fashion psychologist Dawn Karen. In her 2020 book Dress Your Best Life, she says wearing colorful clothes can help us feel happier. Why? Because our brain produces a chemical called dopamine when we feel good. Dopamine is like a “happy signal” in our body. We get it when we eat a delicious pizza, play with our dog, or win in a soccer game. But can clothes really make our brain produce more of it?
Scientists have studied how colors affect our moods and actions. Here’s what they’ve found. Wearing red might help you do better in sports. It can make you feel more powerful and active. Bright Colors (like yellow or pink) can make people feel lively and positive. The color green is linked to nature, like trees and grass. Wearing green can help you relax, almost like being in a peaceful park. Blue is the color of the sky and the ocean, which often bring a sense of peace.
However, no study has shown that colorful clothes directly make your brain release more dopamine. But that doesn’t mean the trend is useless. When you wear colors you love, you might feel more confident or express yourself better. This can put you in a good mood, which indirectly makes you feel happier. It’s like when you wear your lucky socks to a test—they don’t make you smarter, but they make you feel brave! So next time when you are getting dressed, choose colors that make you feel like the best version of yourself!

(2025·江苏徐州·二模)You are walking down the street in the middle of the day and you see someone wearing a green hat. Some people may think it’s fashionable while others don’t care at all. Do you wonder what wearing a green hat means in Chinese culture? Here are four colours and their meanings in Chinese culture.
Green
In most cultures, green represents nature and is a calm colour. However, in modern Chinese culture, green has a negative meaning. For example, when you say “His face looks green”, it means he doesn’t look well. When you say someone is wearing a green hat, it means the person’s partner is cheating on (对……不忠) him or her.
Yellow
In ancient China, yellow represented power. Only the emperor could wear this colour. Yellow was also considered as a natural colour. The Yellow River, the second-longest river in China, got its name from the yellowish soil in it. Now, when yellow is used in a sentence, it means someone fails and that something doesn’t go as planned. For example, when you ask people how their relationship is going, they might say “huáng le”, which means they’ve broken up.
Red
Red is considered as one of the luckiest colours in Chinese culture. In ancient China, the royal (皇室的) family wore bright red. In modern China, red is often seen at celebrations like weddings and festivals. Red also describes someone who is very popular, like a star. You will say “he is red”.
White
In ancient China, white was considered as common people’s colour. Back then, only the rich could afford to make colourful clothes. Common people couldn’t afford that, so most of their clothes were white. Now people still enjoy white clothes, but they sometimes connect white with bad things. It is connected with scary things like death.

(2025·安徽铜陵·三模)①If you go shopping in any toy store, you can see clearly the different games and toys for boys and girls: there are a lot of pink toys on one side of the store for girls; and dark-colored cars, guns, and soldiers for boys. Some big stores with toys may even have a pink floor for girls and a blue floor for boys. In fact, it is difficult to buy a toy for a girl that is not pink.
②Some people think that too much pink is bad for girls. Sue Palmer, writer of Toxic Childhood, is very worried that most girls over the age of three are crazy about the colour. According to some scientists, this happens for two reasons. Firstly, most companies offer too many products in pink. Also, many parents think their little daughter looks cute in pink. Sue Palmer says that girls at this age cannot make proper decisions by themselves, but the pink can affect (影响) the choices and the decisions they will make in the future.
③Some parents are worried too—for example, Vanessa Holburn, thirty two, who has two girls under the age of four. Their bedrooms are a sea of pink and Vanessa is not happy. “Pink says that you are soft and gentle. Blue says that you are strong and powerful. I want my daughters to be strong and powerful. I’m worried that pink will not help them with that,” she says.
④But not everyone thinks there’s something wrong with pink. Grayson Turner is a father of three girls and he isn’t worried at all. “People forget that things change all the time,” he says. “My girls used to love pink when they were little, but as they get older, they change.” Turner explains that his twelve year old daughter never wears pink clothes anymore. “This love of pink is just a fashion and all fashions change,” he adds. “It’s only since the 1940s that people have started dressing girls in pink—before that it was a colour for boys.”
1.The underlined word “that” in Paragraph 3 means ______.
A.being soft and gentle B.being strong and powerful
C.being gentle but powerful D.being cute and beautiful
2.According to Grayson Turner, ______.
A.parents needn’t worry about pink toys B.all little kids love the colour pink
C.pink has always been a colour for girls D.his girls now prefer the colour blue
3.Which of the following best shows the structure (结构) of the passage?

(2025·江西抚州·模拟预测)The natural world is full of colors, seen in humans, plants, and animals. And they do much more than make the world beautiful—they help living things survive (生存) and connect. Let’s explore how colors work their magic.
Human skin comes in different shades (色度). Sunlight is one reason—darker skin protects humans against strong sunlight, while lighter skin helps take in sunlight in cloudy places. But skin also “talks” about our feelings. When we’re angry, excited, or even shy, blood rushes to our faces, turning them red. That’s why we say someone is “seeing red” when they’re mad. Even our health can change skin color, like when a pale face tells us we’re sick.
Plants also use colors to survive. Flowers wear bright colors to attract bees and butterflies. These insects see colors humans can’t, like secret patterns only visible (可见的) to them. When bees land on flowers to drink sweet nectar (花蜜), pollen (花粉) sticks to their legs. As they fly to the next flower, they accidentally spread this pollen, helping plants make seed’s. Without these busy helpers, many flowers couldn’t grow new plants, showing how teamwork between colors and insects keeps nature alive.
Animals are color experts too. Some change their fur or skin colors to blend in with their surroundings (周围环境) and avoid being seen by predators (捕食者). For example, the snowshoe hare (野兔) changes its fur from brown in summer to white in winter, matching perfectly with snow to hide from foxes and wolves. Others use bright colors to warn predators to stay away. The bright blue or yellow skin of some frogs tells predators, “Don’t eat me—I’m poisonous (有毒的)!” Over time, hunters learn to avoid these flashy (鲜艳的) colors, saving the frogs’ lives.
Every shade in nature has a purpose. They help humans share emotions, let plants grow new life, and protect animals from danger. Whether it’s a blushing cheek, a blooming flower, or a hidden hare, colors are nature’s secret language—a language that keeps our planet full of life and wonder.

(2025·安徽合肥·三模)To find the missing colors of Chinese culture, Guo Hao and Li Jianming studied the colors of traditional Chinese culture from ancient books and things. Two years later, they wrote a book about 384 traditional colors.
Traditional colors were found not only in ancient clothes, tools, and art, but also in ancient writings. Chinese words are the most important to Chinese culture, and traditional colors are closely connected with ancient Chinese words. Each color has a beautiful Chinese name, and many colors carry great meanings.
Guo said, “In the Chinese language and thoughts, these words for colors built the world of colors, from the words that describe certain objects to the imagination of poetic colors. Besides, these colors were matched with the natural world. For example, when Chinese emperors (皇帝) offered sacrifices (祭品), the color of their upper clothes was usually “Xuan” and the lower “Xun”. Xuan refers to black with a little red, the color of sunrise. Xun is the color of light when the sun sets. Wearing them expresses awe (敬畏) for heaven and earth (天地).”
These traditional colors from nature and daily life show how ancient Chinese people watch and understand the world.

(2025·四川内江·三模)Scientists learned that our thoughts and behavior are influenced by the colors we see.
Colors are called “warm” (red and orange) and “cool” (blue and green) for a reason: When we’re in a space where the walls are painted in warm colors, we actually feel that the temperature there is warmer than we do in similar spaces painted in cool colors. This makes warm colors good choices for a vestibule (前厅) in a cool climate (气候). Cool colors are good choices for the entrance (入口) to buildings in warm climates, and in rooms that are warm.
Putting a light color on a wall makes that wall seem a little further away than it actually is, while darker colors on walls make them seem even closer than their true positions. So you can use colors to change the shapes of rooms.
The research has also shown the special “powers” of special colors. First, seeing the color green has something to do with creative thinking—so green is a good choice for homes, offices, art rooms, etc. The color pink is believed to calm and reduce aggression (攻击), particularly light or pale pink. In addition, using yellow in a home can be wrong. But yellow may be accepted in dinning room because warm colors can help increase our appetite (胃口), encouraging us to eat much. People are more likely to tell you that blue is their favorite color. That makes it a very safe choice.
All in all, colors do have influences in our life and maybe, we may find more in the future.
1.What’s the good choice for the buildings in warm climates?
A.Painting warm colors on the wall for a vestibule.
B.Painting rooms with light colors.
C.Painting rooms with warm colors.
D.Making entrances to buildings cool colors.
2.Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage?

B.Light colors make rooms look bigger.
C.You can come up with a new idea in a blue room.
D.Pink makes people thirsty for peace and calmness.
3.Why does a person like to paint his dinning room with yellow?
A.Because he may feel relaxed.
B.Because he may want to show kindness.

(2025·浙江金华·三模)Most people have a favorite color, but how people feel about colors depends on their culture. This can be very important to people in business that sell products all over the world. They might choose a color because they think it is exciting or attractive, but in another country that same color could be used to give a sad message. Look at these examples.
If you ask someone in Britain what the right color is for a bride (新娘) to wear, the answer will be white. In China and other eastern countries, brides often wear red because the color red is a sign of good luck, happiness and prosperity (繁荣). They refuse to use other colors. In Britain, red is used as a sign of danger. Road signs and warning labels (标签) are often in red. In eastern cultures, the color red does not mean you have to be careful.
In Egypt, yellow is the color linked to death. In Britain and other western cultures, death and funerals are usually linked to the color black, but in many eastern countries white is the color most people connect with death and funerals.

(2025·山东德州·模拟预测)Tomatoes are red, the sky is blue, and bananas are yellow, right? Well, not exactly—color does not really exist (存在). What exists is light. Light is real, but color is not. It is our brain that creates color.
We're told to trust our eyes, but our eyes have little to do with vision (视觉). We see much more with our brains. You sometimes see different colors because your brain thinks they have a different meaning. The brain does this by looking at what’s around the object. Here is an example. If you see a person wearing a white shirt against different backgrounds, your brain might express the same white color differently. Suppose this person stands in front of a bright yellow background, your brain might think the white shirt is more like gray. If the person moves to a dark blue background, the same white shirt might appear closer to a brighter color.
Color is created according to our past experiences, and sometimes there are optical illusions (视错觉). That is because your brain includes the recent history of what you saw, at least for a brief time. But if you watch the thing for a longer time, your brain may forget the recent history and see the real color.
This raises the question: Do you see what I see? The answer, in short, is no. Our past and present experiences are different. None of us even sees the world as it really is, but as a meaning that comes from our own experiences. It’s clear that seeing is not always believing.
1.What is the main idea of Paragraph 1?
A.Tomatoes are red, the sky is blue and bananas are yellow.
B.Light is more important than color.
C.Color is created by our brain, not real.
D.Our eyes can’t see the real color.
2.Why might a white shirt look different against different backgrounds?
A.Because the shirt changes its color.
B.Because our eyes can’t see the real color.
C.Because the background light is different.
D.Because our brain thinks the color has different meanings according to the background.
3.Which word is close to the underlined word “brief”?
A.Hard. B.Simple. C.Quick. D.Short.
4.Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage?
A.We see with our eyes, not with our brains.
B.Color is real, but light is not.
C.If you watch a thing for long, you may see its real color.
D.People see the world as it really is.
5.Which can be a proper title for the text?
A.Does Color Stay the Same? B.Is Seeing Really Believing? C.Do You See What I See? D.Is Color a Recent History?
【答案】1.C 2.D 3.D 4.C 5.B
【导语】本文是一篇说明文,主要通过阐述颜色由大脑创造、背景影响颜色认知及视错觉等现象,指出眼见未必为实。

2.细节理解题。根据“You sometimes see different colors because your brain thinks they have a different meaning. The brain does this by looking at what’s around the object.”可知,白衬衫在不同背景下看起来不同,是因为大脑会根据背景赋予颜色不同的意义。故选D。
3.词句猜测题。根据“That is because your brain includes the recent history of what you saw, at least for a brief time. But if you watch the thing for a longer time, your brain may forget the recent history...”可知,“brief”与“longer”形成对比,结合语境可推测其意为“短暂的”,与“short”意思相近。故选D。
4.细节理解题。根据“But if you watch the thing for a longer time, your brain may forget the recent history and see the real color.”可知,如果长时间观察一个物体,可能会看到它的真实颜色。故选C。
5.最佳标题题。根据“What exists is light. Light is real, but color is not. It is our brain that creates color.”并通读全文可知,文章通过解释颜色的形成机制以及视错觉现象,强调所见未必为实。故选B。

(2025·四川内江·模拟预测)Once upon a time, the colors of the world started to quarrel (争吵). All believed that they were the most important.
Green said, “I am the sign of life and hope. I was chosen for grass, trees and leaves. Without me, all animals would die.”
Blue cut in, “Consider the sea and the sky. The water is the basis of life. The sky gives peace. Without my peace, you would all be nothing.”

C.The color blue is lighter than the color red.
D.The weight of the color reaches our brain through sense organs.
3.In which part of a magazine can you read the text?

1.What does the underlined word “function” mean in Paragraph 3?
A.Matter. B.Role. C.Way. D.Area.
2.Why are bright colors important for plants according to the passage?
A.Because they help collect sunlight. B.Because they help catch animals.
C.Because they help warn animals. D.Because they help spread seeds.
3.Which of the following can be put in “____▲____” in Paragraph 6?
A.And we humans prefer the colorful world.
B.But plants change colors with the temperature.
C.And colorful flowers appeared around 200 million years ago.
D.And there are too many kinds of colors in nature.
4.How may the colors of animals change if the weather gets hotter?
A.Their colors become lighter. B.Their colors become darker. C.The number of their colors increases. D.The number of their colors drops.
5.What is the passage mainly about?
A.A useful way for animals to communicate.
B.A study on colors in animals and plants.
C.The change of animals’ colors.
D.A problem for humans to deal with.

3.Why could Sam see the red color when his mom drew a red spot under the paper?
A.Because the red light was absorbed.
B.Because the red light was the brightest.
C.Because the other colors of light were not strong enough.
D.Because the red spot absorbed other colors of light except red.
4.Through the story, the change of Sam’s feelings can be described as ________.
A.confused→surprised→excited B.excited→worried→confident
C.curious→surprised→confused D.amazed→confused→worried
(2025·云南昆明·一模)Green is an important color in the nature. It is the color of grass and the leaves on trees. It is also the color of most growing plants.
Sometimes, the word green means young, fresh and growing. Sometimes, it describes something that is not yet ripe or finished. For example, a green hand is someone who has no experience, or who is new to a situation. Someone who has the ability to grow plants well is said to have a green thumb (拇指). A person with a green thumb seems to have a magic touch that makes plants grow quickly and well. You might say that the woman next door has a green thumb if her garden continues to grow after your plants have died.
The Green Revolution (革命) is the name given some years ago to the development of new kinds of rice and other grains. The new plants produced much larger crops. The Green Revolution was the result of hard work by agricultural scientists who had green thumbs.
Green is also the color used to describe jealousy (嫉妒). The green-eyed monster (怪物) does not come from outer space.

A. B. C. D.
Many people like the color orange because it is bright and exciting. Some advertisers will not use orange in their advertisements because they believe it suggests that the products are cheap and perhaps not of good quality.
In a word, colors have different meanings in different cultures. We should learn to choose the proper color in some special situation.
1.In which country does the color yellow mean death?
A.Britain. B.Egypt. C.China. D.All eastern countries.
2.What color will not be used in advertisements according to the passage?
A.Red. B.Black. C.Yellow. D.Orange.
