1. 不可用于现在进行时的动词:感官动词(see, hear)、情感动词(like, hate)、归属动词(have, own)等(如错误:I am knowing it. 正确:I know it.)。
2. be 动词搭配:单数主语(he/she/it/ 单数名词)用 “is”,复数主语(we/they/ 复数名词)用 “are”,I 用 “am”。
3. 缩写规则:is not=isn’t,are not=aren’t,但 “am not” 不可缩写。
二、过去进行时:时间标志与 when/while 的区别
过去进行时表示 “过去某一时刻或阶段正在进行的动作”,核心结构为 “主语 + was/were + 动词 - ing”,常与明确的过去时间标志或 when/while 引导的从句连用。

In January 1956, Joy Fox, a 20-year-old from England, faced a broken engagement (订婚).
